• PendingIntent from notification and application history conflicts

  I'm creating a notification with something similar to the following: Intent ni = new Intent(this, SomeActivity.class); ni.putExtra("somestring", "somedata"); PendingIntent contentIntent = PendingIntent.getActivity(this, 0, ni, PendingIntent.FLAG_UPDATE_CURRENT|PendingIntent.FLAG_ONE_SHOT); Context context = getApplicationContext(); notification.setLatestEventInfo(context, res.getString(R.string.app_name), text, contentIntent); The key here is the extra data on the Intent for the notification. Once I click on the notification and it brings up SomeActivity, it brings up the activity and the extra data is available. However, if I exit the app, hold the home button until the recent activities list comes up, and choose to open the app again, the extra data is still passed. Is there a way I can make this data get passed only if the app is opened via the Notification, and not from the recent activities list?

• add ms ajax accordion pane at runtime loses previous pane issue

  I have an AjaxControlToolkit accordion control that i'm trying to load panes at runtime. When I click a button inside a listview, it should add a new pane to the accordion control. Here is the code that adds the pane in the onitemcommand event within the listview var pane = new AccordionPane { ID = key }; pane.HeaderContainer.Controls.Add(new LiteralControl(label.Text)); pane.ContentContainer.Controls.Add(LoadControl("~/UserControls/Covers/" + e.CommandArgument + ".ascx")); accordion.Panes.Add(pane); And this will successfully show a webcontrol inside the accordion control. But when I click on another button in the listview, the accordion is reset and it only shows the new pane instead of appending a new pane. Is there any way to keep the previous pane visible across postbacks like this? By the way, each of the webcontrols that are loaded in the accordion have input fields that will need to be persisted across postbacks as well. thanks!

• What features are important in a programming language for young beginners?

  I was talking with some of the mentors in a local robotics competition for 7th and 8th level kids. The robot was using PBASIC and the parallax Basic Stamp. One of the major issues was this was short term project that required building the robot, teaching them to program in PBASIC and having them program the robot. All in only 2 hours or so a week over a couple months. PBASIC is kinda nice in that it has built in features to do everything, but information overload is possible to due this. My thought are simplicity is key. When you have kids struggling to grasp: if X>10 then <DOSOMETHING> There is not much point in throwing "proper" object oriented programming at them. What are the essentials needed to foster an interest in programming?

• How can I sort by a transformable attribute in an NSFetchedResultsController?

  I'm using NSValueTransformers to encrypt attributes (strings, dates, etc.) in my Core Data model, but I'm pretty sure it's interfering with the sorting in my NSFetchedResultsController. Does anyone know if there's a way to get around this? I suppose it depends on how the sort is performed; if it's always only performed directly on the database, then I'm probably out of luck. If it sorts on the objects themselves, then perhaps there's a way to activate the transformation before the sort occurs. I'm guessing it's directly on the database, though, since the sort would be key in grabbing subsets of the collection, which is the main benefit of NSFetchedResultsController anyway.

But doesn't support drop down menus. I have tried every angle I could find to edit the drupal function menu_item_link which is used by nice menus to build the links. E.g. I looked at the drupal forum for two days and no joy. My tags file is generated very well and here is a simple row in it. my.namespace.classname /path/to/file.js /^my.namespace.classname = function(first_arg,$/;" f Here is an example what i need to omnicomplete: my.namespace.cla <- omnicomplete list with all classnames in the my.namespace The above is the key to my problem, because it looks like omnicomplete searches only namespace without including "my." in front of it. So i see other element in the omnicomplete list and not my classname at all. However, if i type :tag my.namespace.classname for example gvim opens the correct file at the correct position. What is wrong and how can I make it work?

When discussing new solutions and architectures we often encounter impedance in trying to compare the various technologies, frameworks, APIs etc. in use between the two camps. It seems that each camp knows little about the other and we end up comparing apples to oranges and forgetting about the bushels. While researching the topic I found this: Java -- .Net rough equivalents It's a nice list but it's not quite exhaustive and is missing the key .NET 3.0 technologies and a few other tidbits. To complete that list: what are the near/rough equivalents (or a combination of technologies) in Java to the following in .NET? • Idiomatic way to do list/dict in Cython?

  My problem: I've found that processing large data sets with raw C++ using the STL map and vector can often be considerably faster (and with lower memory footprint) than using Cython. I figure that part of this speed penalty is due to using Python lists and dicts, and that there might be some tricks to use less encumbered data structures in Cython. For example, this page (http://wiki.cython.org/tutorials/numpy) shows how to make numpy arrays very fast in Cython by predefining the size and types of the ND array. Question: Is there any way to do something similar with lists/dicts, e.g. by stating roughly how many elements or (key,value) pairs you expect to have in them? That is, is there an idiomatic way to convert lists/dicts to (fast) data structures in Cython? If not I guess I'll just have to write it in C++ and wrap in a Cython import.

  I've been digging around the NHibernate sources a little, trying to understand how NHibernate implements removing child elements from a collection. I think I've already found the answer, but I'd ideally like this to be confirmed by someone familiar with the matter. So far I've found AbstractPersistentCollection (base class for all collection proxies) has a static helper method called GetOrphans to find orphans by comparing the current collection with a snapshot. The existence of this method suggests NHibernate tries to find all oprhaned elements and then deletes them by key. Is this correct, in terms of the generated SQL?

• Core Data Image Won't Load Into NSTableView Image Cell

  In my code I am storing an image into my Core Data model (works fine). If I set up my view to have an NSImageView and bind its Data to Controller Key: selection and modelKeyPath: myImagePath, it works. It will show each image for the selected row. I then create a new column in my NSTableView and drag an image cell onto the column. However, I cannot get my Core Data bindings to have the image show up in the cell. I have tried binding both value and data, but no luck. Since I am sure the image is stored properly, what am I doing wrong in my binding to prevent the image from showing up in the table cell? Thanks so much. (My background: new Cocoa developer who has recently gone through the entire Hillegass book.)

• Facebook RESTful API require_login() callback

  Hi, I'm trying to authenticate a user through the RESTful API (not Connect) but I can't since the callback system does not work for me. I have a local app that creates the Facebook API object with my key and secret, then calls the Facebook API require_login() method; I am sent to Facebook login, I login, and then I am sent to http://www.facebook.com/login.php?auth_token=<...>, where there's another login with just a field for password (not username), I write it again, and after that I am redirected to normal Facebook home. What am I doing wrong? I have set the callback URL in the Facebook app proprieties. Does it have anything to do with the fact that it's localhost? Thanks!

Each post has a foreign key relation to a "Thread" and a "User" as well as a creation date. The trick is I don't want to show two posts by the same user or two posts in the same thread. • What event do I need to supress to stop IE from "Dinging" when I press enter in a text box?

  On simple forms with one text box pressing enter submits the form (and this is great for easy search forms) However on a form with multiple fields, pressing Enter in an input="text" box won't do anything (e.g. submit) but in IE it "Dings" as if you have tried to delete an undeletable object. The question is... what event do I need to suppress in IE to stop this sound? e.g. if I have a username/password form, I DO want the enter key to submit the form, but I certainly don't want the "error" sound.   I've got an issue when using the Google Visualization api line chart with Jquery ui tabs. I've got two graphs on two tabs. The first graph, which is visible by default displays fine: the second chart on the hidden tab seems to be messing up the key: I've tried changing the options but nothing I do seems to make any difference. • How can I hide a database column in the entity model?

  Hi. I'm using the Entity Framework 4 and have a question: I have a password column in my database that I want to manage using custom SQL. So I don't want the model to know anything about it. I've tried deleting the property in the Mapping Details window, but then I got a compilation error: Error 3023: Problem in mapping fragments starting at line 1660:Column User.Password in table User must be mapped: It has no default value and is not nullable. So, I made the column nullable in the database and updated the model. Now I get this error: Error 3004: Problem in mapping fragments starting at line 1660:No mapping specified for properties User.Password, User.Salt in Set Users. An Entity with Key (PK) will not round-trip when: Entity is type [UserDirectoryModel.User] Any ideas please? Thanks, Nick
