  • My IIS server won't serve SSL sites to some browsers

    (Update: This is now cross-posted at http://stackoverflow.com/questions/3355000. This is the more appropriate forum, but StackOverflow gets a lot more traffic.) I've got an IIS 6.0 server that won't serve pages over SSL to some browsers. In Webkit-based browsers on OS X 10.6, I can't load pages at all. In MSIE 8 on Windows XP SP3, I can load pages, but it will sometimes hang downloading images or sending POSTs. Working: Firefox 3.6 (OS X + Windows) Chrome (Windows) Partially Working: MSIE 8 (works sometimes, but hangs up, especially on POSTs) Not Working: Chrome 5 (OS X) Safari 5 (OS X) Mobile Safari (iOS 4) On OS X (the easiest platform for me to test on), Chrome and Firefox both negotiate the same TLS Cipher, but Chrome hangs on or after the post-negotiation handshake.   • System crashes/lockups + compiz/cairo/gnome-panel crashing due to cached ram, please help?

    Can someone help me to troubleshoot system crashes and lockups which result in compiz/cairo dock and gnome-panel crashing? I also get no window borders after the crash and a lot of kernel memory errors. Logs are telling me that apps were killed due to not enough memory, but the system is caching like 14GB of my ram so I'm a bit stuck on what/how to stop it. I'm running Ubuntu 12.10 on a 2011 Mac Mini with 16 GB ram. Here's some of the logs that look like they could be causing trouble. I woke up this morning to find chrome/skype/cairo dock and a few others had been killed and here is what the log said. I have a Radeon HD 6600M graphics card using the open source driver, not the proprietary one. I was wondering if perhaps using the proprietary one would solve the problem. Also, while writing this in Chrome rhythmbox and chrome just got killed while typing this, due to out of memory errors or so it reports, though I have 7 GB of free RAM at the time with 7 GB cached as well.     I'm trying to access Gmail by using three-legged Oauth PHP code provided by Google ('google-mail-xoauth-tools') here: http://code.google.com/apis/gmail/oauth/code.html. These big companies don't seem to be following the rules so hotly debated in the ruby community (that you should almost never nest URLs for example), so I'm wondering how you go about implementing your own urls in larger scale projects because it seems like the idea of not nesting urls breaks down at anything larger than a blog. Any tips?

Am I missing something?

    I have a very large photo gallery with thousands of similar people, objects, locations, things. The majority of the people in the photos have their own user accounts and avatar photos to match. There are also logical short lists of people potentially in the photo based on additional data available for each photo. I allow users to tag photos with their friends and people they know but an automated process would be better. I've used photo tagger/finder from face.com integrating with Facebook photos and the Google Picasa photo tagger for personal albums also does the same thing and is exactly what I'm looking to do. Is there a PHP script, API for Google Picasa, face.com or other recognition service or any other open source project that provides server-side facial recognition and/or grouping photos by similarity?
