• Changing location of ClamAV logging files

  I've run into a weird problem with ClamAV that I have been unable to resolve, due to a incredibly non-informative error message. I've installed ClamAV via aptitude on an Ubuntu box (ClamAV 0.96.5/13202 according to the system) up on EC2 and it is 100% stock. We have an additional drive mounted under /mnt where we put all our log files. When I start it up with the log files in the default location, it runs just fine. However, if I change the configuration file from /var/log/clamav/clamav.log to /mnt/clamav/clamav.log I get the error ERROR: Can't open /mnt/clamav/clamav.log in append mode (check permissions!). ERROR: Can't initialize the internal logger It's the same file with the same permissions on it, just in a different location. Any thoughts or tips on how to resolve this problem would be greatly appreciated.

  My company uses Juniper networks for vpn access. I am unable to get the juniper network connect client to work on windows 7 64-bit. It used to work before but after I formatted my system it gives the following error every time I start the vpn client If I check the logs I see this error The Juniper Network Connect Service service is marked as an interactive service. However, the system is configured to not allow interactive services. This service may not function properly. Thanks in advance.

  I'm a n00b - trying to get apache2 set up on Ubuntu 9.10 (Karmic Koala) on Rackspace Cloud. I have set up/configured OpenSSL and installed Apache, but Apache won't start. I assume its a misconfiguration in my /etc/apache2/sites-available/ssl or /etc/apache2/sites-available/default files) When I try to restart apache using the command: sudo /etc/init.d/apache2 restart I get the following error message: [error] (EAI 2)Name or service not known: Could not resolve host name *.80 -- ignoring! [error] (EAI 2)Name or service not known: Could not resolve host name *.80 -- ignoring! • Puppetmaster don't notice changes to site.pp

  I've just setup a new production environment with puppet. Using 0.25.4 in client/server. Ruby is at 1.8.5, CentOS 5.4. I've made a simple manifest for configuring yum-updatesd, but the puppetmaster doesn't seem to notice changes done to site.pp: err: Could not parse for environment production: Could not match 'node' at /etc/puppet/manifests/site.pp:1 err: Could not retrieve catalog from remote server: Error 400 on SERVER: Could not parse for environment production: Could not match 'node' at /etc/puppet/manifests/site.pp:1 Notice, it says line 1. Last friday we installed some windows updates. After the reboot tomcat doesnt start with error: Error occurred during initialization of VM Could not reserve enough space for object heap We reduced the parameter -Xmx1024m to -Xmx768m and now tomcat starts.   I have a remote dedicated server running CentOS 6.2 x64bit with ISPConfig3. This is a brand new install. Server Purpose: Basic LAMP Web Hosting with PureFTPD, BIND, CLAMAV, RKHunter. Any advice or link to a guide which will clearly explain how to optimize the CSF+LFD configuration is greatly appreciated. I am not exactly sure on where to start what I shouldn't loosen the restrictions on. • Windows 7: Can't see ISO file in C:\

  I used DVD shrink to create an ISO file and saved it into C:\ The ISO file is visible with some programs but not with others. The file is not hidden as far as I am aware. But it cannot be seen by Windows Explorer, DVD Decrypter or a bunch of other programs. If I search for the file using Windows 7's Start Menu search tool, I can see the file and I can right click and select Properties. The Properties window appears OK, but if I try to change tabs on the property window, I receive an error message as though the file is not there. DVD Shrink can still open the file OK. I can also find the file using Agent Ransack (a file searching tool), but then I cannot open it. What gives?

  Good afternoon everyone, I'm quite new to Active Directory stuff. After upgraded Functional level of our AD from 2003 to 2008 R2 (I need it to put fine-grained password policy), I then start to reorganized my OUs. I keep in mind that a good OU organization facilitate application of GPO (and maybe GPP).But in the end, it feels more natural for me to use Security-group filtering (from Scope tab) to apply my policies, instead of direct OU. Do you think it is a good practice or should I stick to OU ? We are a small organisation with 20 users and 30-35 computers. So, we got a simple OU tree, but more subtle split with security-groups. The OU tree doesn't contain any objects except at the bottom level. Each bottom level OU contains Computers,Users, and of course security groups. • Multiple User VPN

  I am looking for a cheap or free solution to be able to connect multiple people via VPN to a host computer. Each person should not be able to see what the others are doing while logged in. Is this possible and if so where do I start my hunt? Aaron Update: I was not sure what server, was just thinking of doing it on say a win7 desktop.   We wish to store some data in 389 Directory Server LDAP that doesn't fit that well into the standard set of schema's that come with the product. Nothing too amazing, things like: when the customer joined are they currently active customer certificate[1] which environment they are using My question is this: should we register with OID and start writing up our own custom schema OR is there a standard schema definition not provided by Directory Server that we can download and use that would fit our needs? Should we munge/hack existing attributes and store the data among there (I'm strongly opposed to this, but would be interested in arguments about why its better than extending)? • How can I make Amazon SES the default method of sending mail from my server?

  I'd like to start using Amazon SES for all emails from our server. We have a few freelance designers with PHP hosting, some Django/Python web apps and also some system utilities which send emails. So I'd like to have PHP's mail function, the command line mail command and our python apps all be able to use it, preferably without having to set them all up in their own way. I think what I need is to have something like Postfix running on localhost and using SES for it's delivery but I don't know how to do that. Amazon's docs state I need to setup my mail transfer agent (MTA) so that it invokes the ses-send-email.pl script. I have the script but I'm not sure how to achieve this. Am I on the right track? If so, how can I configure Postfix to use that script?

The laptop has dual core CPU and 2GB of RAM. Can you recommend a Linux distribution I can install? I've tried the netbook version of Ubuntu, but install failed because of lack of space. • Quick access to program shortcut

  I need to edit a text file on my computer that requires admin access (hosts). I used to do this by hitting WIN and typing "Note". The shortcut for Notepad would show up, and I could right-click and choose Run as Administrator. How do I accomplish the same thing in Windows 8? Notepad isn't something I see pinned to my start menu, and I don't really want to clutter up my menu with something I may use infrequently. I want very quick access to my programs by typing a few letters in the name. If I use WIN-R, I have to know exactly the name of the executable. I want to just type Glob and see options for Sonic Global VPN. And I want to be able to execute that found executable as an admin if I need to. Windows Vista & Windows 7 are excellent at this. Surely this functionality has not been deprecated in Windows 8...

  I purchased a retail version of Windows 7 Professional and installed it on a computer. That machine has died, and I replaced it with a new computer which came with Windows 7 Home Premium already installed. I'd like to have Professional, not Home Premium, on the new machine, and I don't want to pay for an "Anytime Upgrade" because I already have a valid Windows 7 Professional license (for the dead computer). Is there a way to legally upgrade using my Professional license key? I've already installed programs, data, etc on the new machine, so I don't want to reformat and start from scratch.

• MySQL 5.5 on Windows server is horribly slow

  I have had no luck getting MySQL 5.5 to be as fast as 5.1 or MariaDB on the exact same hardware/database/environment under Windows server 2003R2 or 2008R2. My benchmarks from our application: MySQL 5.5 + CentOS 5.2 (XenServer Virtual) = 28 seconds (box is "busy" not buried) MariaDB (5.1) + Windows 2003 (Physical box) = 130 seconds (box is 2% busy) MySQL 5.1 + Windows 2003 (Physical box) = 170 seconds (box is 2% busy) MySQL 5.5 + Windows 2003 (Physical box) = 305 seconds (As high as 600 seconds...) (box is 2% busy) The only difference between these runs is the removal of skip-locking and the running of mysql_upgrade.exe to update some tables for stored procs on 5.5. Yes, I know it's a release candidate, I'm feeding that back to MySQL as well. No slow queries are logged, it doesn't think it's being slow, it just is. I'm going to start tearing into the queries themselves to see if the INSERT/SELECT plans have gone buggo on 5.5. Any help would be appreciated! Thanks

  I set up a ssh server through ssh-host-config. Then I started the server. net start sshd The CYGWIN sshd service is starting. The CYGWIN sshd service was started successfully. When I try to connect I get: ssh myusername@localhost ssh: connect to host localhost port 22: Connection refused I tried to allow port 22 in Windows Firewall, but that didn't change anything. And because I'm trying to ssh locally I don't think Windows Firewall is the culprit. I'm using Windows 7 and What should I look for to fix this problem?

Eth1 is hooked up directly to the university network over 10Megabit. The router's uplink is hooked up to the university network as well, and it is also 10Megabit. Currently (I believe) all traffic on Calcium is going through eth0, through the router, regardless of whether it is internal or external. (How can I confirm this?) Ideally, traffic that is destined for the internal network (192.168.10.0/24) would travel over eth0 to the router, and wherever it is going. ALL other traffic should go over eth1. I suspect that this behavior could be acheived with IP tables? I don't really know where to start looking to learn that though, so any links would be appreciated.

• Attempting to migrate to Aptana from Dreamweaver - how to?

  I have been using Dreamweaver for years, and have used Dreamweaver MX, Dreamweaver MX 2004, Dreamweaver 8 & Dreamweaver CS4. They all carry a common theme and were relatively easy to migrate to each other. I use, however, very few features of dreamweaver. Specifically: Syntax highlighting Telesense FTP management/site management The search/replace The idea I get from Aptana is its much more geared toward the web development/programmer side of things, have better visualizations of classes, etc., and handle everything else just as well. The problem is it is not at all clear to me. I managed to start a new project, but it didn't associate it with an FTP. So, I created an FTP, and it looks like I can have many FTPs for one project. My question then is, is there a tutorial or guide to migrating to Aptana from a Dreamweavor's perspective?

• Logout user script

  I am trying to create a script in ARD that will let me logout a user. Now I have a script which does start the logout, but I want it to execute instead of waiting 60 seconds. The script currently is: osascript -e 'tell application "System Events" to log out' As I said, this works but then I want it to press return on the logout dialog. The script I tried to make it do that is: osascript -e 'tell application "System Events" to log out' -e 'keystroke return' which doesn't work. Is there a way, possibly by telling the system to press Cmd+Opt+q, then Enter, to log out without waiting for the timeout to expire?

• Everything Windows Explorer does hangs up t some time or another

  Yes this is a duplicate of something I have tried to ask in the past. I think I am posting wrong since my first question was deleted OK I ran SCANNOW nd it came back with no problems. I booted in Safe mode and windows evplorer worked OK. I am not sure what that proves. I also ran AUTRUNS and disabled everything that you said, but it still dies. I read someplace that it could be a service program, but I can't find that link anymore. Something about shutting off all non-windows SP's and then start adding back SP's until it quits. The problem is that sometimes it will work, but most of the time it does not. Makes saving or retrieving anything impossible. SAVEAS hangs up, my Garmin Map updater hangs up etc.. I was having this problem before installing Garmin so I am reasonably sure it is not the problem HELP PLEASE, I don't have many brain cells left and can't afford to lose more.

• Apache error "No address associated with hostname" on Arch Linux (ZMLarch)

  I'm trying to set up video surveillance system using IP cameras and ZoneAlarm on Arch Linux. I set up fixed IP address, I've managed to get streams from cameras, etc. However, after restart of the machine, I cannot start Apache again. I checked configuration of rc.conf, and saw that static IP configuration has been deleted, and also secondary nameserver in resolv.conf. Tried to re-write these with correct parameters, but now with no effect. This is tail of my /var/log/httpd/error_log file, after /etc/rc.d/httpd restart attempt [Fri Jan 29 04:20:45 2010] [alert] (EAI 5) No address associated with hostname: mod_unique_id: unable to find IPv4 address of "zmhost" Configuration failed Anybody have an idea on how could I fix this?

• Windows 7 Change internet time settings tells me I have no permissions.

  LS, While trying to solve my computer clock always running ahead (even when on, not just on every boot), I apparently broke some security settings. All I did (as far as I can remember) was stop and start the w32time service. Now, whenever I go to the "Internet time" tab, and click "Change settings..." Windows tells me I don't have permissions to do so. Facts I am a member of the Administrators group. In gpedit.msc, I checked that the Administrators group is allowed to change the system time. • What's the strategy to implement a "knowledge base" in my company.

  In my current work we think we can get benefit from having a knowledge base, so the next time someone has a question/problem etc, that base can be consulted and an answer will show up. Also, it will reduce the risk from having people leaving the company with the knowledge and we would have to start all over again. My question is, what strategy can we follow to implement/buy/get/build/etc this knowledge base? Are there software ready for this? Would it be better to have something build by ourselves ( we have some programmers ) This is an small company ( < 30 ) and the base should be accessible from outside the office ( when the employees are with the customer etc.) so I guess a webapp is in order.

• How to force Chrome to make bookmarks the priority for auto-complete in the address bar?

  As it is right now, if I start typing, for instance, "dictionary" into the address bar, Chrome immediately returns a list of bookmarks, history, and related sites. However, the first and highlighted option is to search Google for "dictionary". I want Chrome to immediately recognize that I have a bookmark specifically named "Dictionary" that links to the site www.dictionary.com. But, that's the second choice, not the first. So I have to type a few letters, get auto-complete to suggest some sites, then key down to my bookmark item before pressing Enter. How annoying. Any way to cut the middle man and make my bookmark the top result?

• how do I have a windows group automatically map a drive on connection?

  I have 3 different windows user groups. Each group needs to have a certain drive mapped, unique to that group. Is there a way to say x group maps to y drive every time they connect? If I put something in their start up, that's a lot of manual work. I am needing something that I have set per user group, if possible. If this is not feasible, is there another option?
