    I'm searching for some code samples for my Flash application. The app is based on screen-flows , i.e each screen is defined with some visual elements with some buttons which have async events associated with them(consuming web services basically). The buttons also have functionality to go back and forth between screens and jump to any screen. I want to define all of the visual elements and the functionality of the events in a XML file. Thus the model, view and controller are all in the XML. Does any framework allow this like Pure MVC? Where can I find some examples of this kind of functionality that I want?

    Hi guys, I wrote a Flex application that sends a UrlRequest to Facebook and gets the content of page as a string. The application user clicks a button, and the application connects to Facebook. And no I do not mean using Facebook API. It is like a screen scraper. This application worked locally, but when deployed to server it gives a sandbox security error. I have my crossdomain.xml on the root, but I think the problem is not that. Not only Facebook, but I cannot get any web site when the application is deployed on server. What should I do to get the content of a remote web page?

    I need a special regular expression, have no experience in them whatsoever so I am turning to you guys on this one: I need to validate a classifieds title field so it doesn't have any special characters in it, almost. Only letters and numbers should be allowed, and also the swedish three letters å, ä, ö, and also not case sensitive. Besides the above, these should also be allowed: The "&" sign.     Hi to all, I need to read a file, which has an "n" number of lines, I need to know when reading the end of each line, so I can store the line in an array, ok so far I have while(stream.position < stream.bytesAvailable) { char = stream.readUTFBytes(1); if(char == "\n") { array.push(line); line = ""; } else { line += char; } } my question is, always the end of line will be "\n"?? how can I be sure if is not an other character like \r??, there is an other character for end of line??, thanks for any help!!!

  • Cross-platform HTML application options

    I'd like to develop a stand-alone desktop application targeting Windows (XP through 7) and Mac (Tiger through Snow Leopard), and if possible iPhone and Android. In order to make it all work with as much common code as possible (and because it's the only thing I'm good at), I'd like to handle the main logic with HTML and JS. Using Adobe AIR is a possibility. And I think I can do this with various application wrappers, using .NET for Windows XP, Objective C for iPhone, Java for Android and native "widget" platform support for Mac and Windows Vista & 7 (though I'd like to keep the widget in the foreground, so the Mac dashboard isn't ideal). Does anyone have any suggestions on where to start? The two sticking points are: I'll certainly need some form of persistent storage (cookies perhaps) to keep state between sessions I'll also probably need access to remote data files, so if I use AJAX and the hosting HTML file resides on the device, it will need to be able to do cross-domain requests. I've done this on the iPhone without any problems, but I'd be surprised if this were possible on other platforms. For me, Android and iPhone will be the easiest to handle, and it looks like I can use Adobe AIR to handle the rest. But I wanted to know if there are any other alternatives. Does anyone have any suggesions?

    Hello, I have some PDF documents which are being displayed in the browser, with some fields already being pre-populated from the database using iTextSharp (we are running Windows Server 2008, IIS 7, SQL Server 2008, and ASP.NET 2.0/2.5 with C#). Our clients need to be able to fill in the remaining fields and save the PDF to the server. I have considered the following possibilities: 1.) Somehow using iTextSharp to parse the form fields, grab all the form data and save it to the database on submit. 2.) Adding a submit button to the PDF itself using LiveCycle with some sort of JS click event to save the FDF/XFDF/XDP/XML data either to the database or to a flat file on the server. I am currently unsure as to what the best approach would be, what would work, or how to implement any of these possible solutions, so any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

    Hi All, I have a specific requirement of extracting text and images from a specific area in a pdf file.The area might be a selected or highlighted or from a given set of coordinates. When i went through, all the approaches are to extract images and text entirely from the PDF on not in a specified location. I tried with iTextSharp,Syncfussion,Apose but couldn figure out a better approach for this. If somebody could help me out in this it would be greatfull. One of them is a google docs website, and I'm trying to get flex to allow downloads or popups or something that will allow me to do it.   • Can I install Win 7 Pro with a Win 7 Home Premium disc?

    So I got the 64bit Win 7 Pro disc from the Ultimate steal for cheap enough... but I found out that some stuff that I want to run (games mostly... since that is the only reason I keep Windows around...) did not do too well on the 64bit OS. So I have borrowed my friend's install disc, but it turns out that his is only Home Premium rather than Pro which I have a serial for. Can I still just run through the Home Premium install and use my Pro serial number (seems like I should be able to with the whole 'any time upgrade' deal)? Or do I have to go and find a 32bit pro disc to do the install? Are there any hoops that I have to jump through?

  • Software developer needs Validation for VA Chap 31 to purchase Macbook Pro vs. PC [closed]

    I am currently attending college with a path of software development and working towards my BS thanks to VA Chap 31. My old original Macbook Pro is near dead and no longer upgradable on the software or hardware side. The VA has offered to purchase a PC laptop for me (Because my syllabi says computer required), but I do not want to go backwards. I have a lot invested in OS X software and Mac peripherals, not to mention I prefer to program in an Apple environment. PC vs. Mac costs are so drastically different that I must validate my request for a new Macbook Pro. In my request to the VA, I stated the above and some other topics but they requested more validation. Can anyone recommend issues, reasons, etc. to help me validate this purchase by the VA for school? Thanks in advance for your help, David

    I got this late 2010 11" MacBook Air. I'm having issues with NVIDIA graphics, especially with GNOME Shell. I'm thinking about selling this to switch to the new MacBook Pro, particularly the entry level 13" (see specs here), because of the Intel HD Graphics 3000. I assume that it will be more FOSS-friendly. I just want to point out that there are non-negotiable reasons why I'm keeping an Apple hardware at the moment, so let's keep this on topic. Will the MacBook Pro Early 2011 work better with Ubuntu than the Air Late 2010? Any other factors than the graphics hardware? Should we expect better NVIDIA graphics anytime soon?

    I am doing a website that needs to only let the customer print out what they bought 1 time. There are websites that currently do this and they mentioned Adobe Flash Player, Adobe AIR and the Sheet Music Plus AIR application. We would need to block programs like adobe distillation and any virtual printers while only allowing an instant print after purchase. I am not an adobe air developer. Would their be any other ways to accomplish this and what would be the easiest. Thank you. Would their be a way to not allow printing to a virtual printer ie adobe pdf?

    I'm scanning a text document for certain installed programs on a computer and looking for an easy way to include a greater or less than variable in the string I'm scanning for. Here is a very ugly and cumbersome example of what I'm using currently and while it works as a temporary fix, isn't practical or sustainable. I'm sure whatever solution is offered can likely be adapted to similar programs I'm likely to encounter later.     I'm trying to get sendmail working on my MacBook Pro (OS 10.6.4), so that I can send mail with PHP's mail() function. If you know how to do this without sendmail, I'd be interested in that also. The plan is to send mail through smtp.gmail.com using my gmail account, unless you have a better idea. I did this and that didn't work. In /etc/postfix/smtp_sasl_passwords I tried both:     smtp.yourisp.com username:password and     smtp.yourisp.com [email protected]:password The problem seems to be that google doesn't like me. I've been told that Flash will quite happily handle such content however I have no experience with Flash nor do I have access to Adobe Creative Suite.
