    Is there an easy way in windows to set a given string, like "sidb" to run a program or open a given folder in Windows? My original idea was to be able to run commands like that in the "Execute" start button menu (or Win + R),so I'd just have to do WIN+R and type "sidb". What is the best way to accomplish this? EDIT: May I rephrase this as : Is there a way to define for example, in systems variables, sibd="C:.......blabla\ and then I'd just have to type "sibd" in Run?

  • Alias wordpress folder from within another website

    I have a little dilemma. I wrote a custom PHP MVC framework and built a CMS on top of it. I decided to give nginx+fpm a whirl too. Which is the root of my dilemma. I was asked to incorporate a wordpress blog into my website (yah.) It has much content and it's not feasible in the short amount of time I have to bring all the content into my CMS. Because of using Apache for years, I'm, admittedly, a little lost using nginx. My website has the file path: /opt/directories/mysite/public/ The wordpress files are located at: /opt/directories/mysite/news/ I know I just need to setup location(s) that targets /news[/*] and then forces all matching URI's to the index.php within. Can someone point me in the right direction perhaps?     Hi there, in MySQL5.1, is there a way to make one table accessible by two different names? I'm thinking about somethink like a symlink on linux filesystems. I know theres the CREATE VIEW myview AS SELECT * FrOM mytable thing, but I don't only need to SELECT from both names, but also delete etc ... You might ask why I want to do this? It's about getting a commercial, closed-source app to work, which is crappily programmed (usually, the table names are all lower-case, but occasionally, they use capitalized names for the same table ...). Oh, that would be another idea: Is there a way to tell MySQL not to care about capitalization of table names (like on Windows filesystems?)? that would also do the trick ... Thanks for your insight!   • Alias one set of Subdomains to another

    I have to domains that I want to effectively mirror one another on select subdomains. Let's say they are pirates.com and ninjas.com and i want ninjas to mirror the content on pirates. When I visit foo.ninjas.com I want to see the content on foo.pirates.com. Due to app restrictions I need to do this in DNS for an undefined number of subdomains. I was under the impression i could do this with a CNAME, but it appears that setting a CNAME for * subdomain of the ninjas.com domain to point to pirates.com will make any subdomain of ninjas.com point at pirates.com instead of the associated subdomain. I.e. foo.ninjas.com would reference pirates.com instead of foo.pirates.com. Is there a way to do this using DNS? Am I missing something basic?

  • shell script over SSH ends unexpectedly after running 'ant build'

    I wrote a shell script that runs on remote host to build source code with 'ant build' command, and then distribute the built binary to other servers. However, right after Ant build is over successfully(I can see the command line output saying Build was successful), the ssh session ends and whatever commands after 'ant build' does not get executed. I'm confused what might be cause of this behavior. I suspected that it might be because the 'ant build' command takes too long time, and SSH somehow quits itself after that long command. But I don't think that's correct since if I just do 'sleep 60' in place of 'ant build' command, it actually execute latter commands as intended. I'm new at shell programming, so I might have made some silly misassumption. Can someone provide a pointer to a possible cause of this problem?   • Find and hide file extension

    I am trying to find all files that have the same filename (excluding the file extension) that occur 3 times. I also need the full path to the file. What I have currently is #get file without extension alias lse="ls -1R | sed -e 's/\.[a-zA-Z]*$//'" #print out the current dir and get files occuring 3 times lse | sed "s;^;`pwd`/;" | sort | uniq -c | grep " 3 " This runs howver pwd prints the folder I ran the command from not the path to the file. So I tried find find . -type f | sed "s#^.#$(pwd)#" | sort | uniq -c This runs but includes the file extension. When I try to add sed -e 's/\.[a-zA-Z]*$//'" I get errors as I am not sure how to combine the two sed commands and I cannot seem to pipe a second time to sed? so what I am trying to do is find . -type f | sed "s#^.#$(pwd)#" | sed -e 's/\.[a-zA-Z]*$//'"| sort | uniq -c | grep " 3 " but this does not run.

    I have a batch script that starts a java server application inside of a screen. The command looks like this: cd /dir/ && screen -A -m -d -S javascreen java -Xms640M -Xmx1024M -jar javaserverapp.jar nogui After I run the batch script, it starts the server and puts it inside the correct screen. If I list my screens after, I see something like this: user@gtwy /dir $ screen -list There is a screen on: 16180.javascreen (Detached) 1 Socket in /var/run/screen/S-user. However, I have a second batch script that sends automated commands to this server and runs on a different crontab interval. Because of the way the application works, I send commands to it like this (this command tells it to alert connected users "testing 123"): screen -X exec .\!\! echo say testing 123 I've also tried: screen -R -X exec .\!\! echo say testing 123 screen -S javascreen -X exec .\!\! echo say testing 123 Unfortunately, these commands DO NOT WORK. They don't even give me an error message, they just do nothing. HOWEVER - If I manually attach to the screen first (with the below command) and then detach, now I can run any of the above commands flawlessly.   • Mac Terminal.app: Force '^C' to be printed when editing current prompt, then aborting it

    This is the opposite of Prevent “^C” from being printed when aborting editing current prompt. I'm using Bash. When I'm editing the commandline in Bash, and I hit Control-C to abort the commandline, the '^C' character does not display. I would like to see this character. I tried commands like stty -ctlecho and stty ctlecho (which I borrowed from the other question), but this didn't work for me. This behavior seems to be true with my environment on Ubuntu, CentOS and MacOSX. This only happens within Apple's Terminal.App. If I SSH to a remote Linux or FreeBSD box, then ^C is printed. So, this is clearly just a local setting. Unfortunately, for begginners, having too many options is a little confusing. For example, I created .bash_alias for some alias I'm using. I didn't even know this option existed, I'm used to simply edit .bashrc. Do exist a pattern, a "good practice", envisioning flexibility and modularity in terms of rc files structure? Do exist a standardization group for this, or every body just creates it's own configuration setup?
