It would be the best solution to do this from XAML with a minimum code-behind like this: ... MyCanvas.N = 5; ...

  • Long time to load first sql connection in .NET

    - by Shrage Smilowitz
For some reason it takes 7 seconds to open a connection to a sql server database for the firt time, subsequent connections takes a second. any idea what could be the reason? I'm using C# and asp.net Its after compilation, i essence every time i restart the site, which means every time it needs to actualy create the "first" connection. i understand that setting up connection pooling has overhead, but i have never seen that i should take 7 second to set it up.

Hi, I am using the code from this tutorial to parse a CSV file and add the contents to a database table. How would I ignore the first line of the CSV file? The controller code is below: def csv_import @parsed_file=CSV::Reader.parse(params[:dump][:file]) n = 0 @parsed_file.each do |row| s = Student.new s.name = row[0] s.cid = row[1] s.year_id = find_year_id_from_year_title(row[2]) if s.save n = n+1 GC.start if n%50==0 end flash.now[:message] = "CSV Import Successful, #{n} new students added to the database." end redirect_to(students_url) end

  • Sort Strings by first letter [C]

    - by Blackbinary
I have a program which places structures in a linked list based on the 'name' they have stored in them. To find their place in the list, i need to figure out if the name im inserting is earlier or later in the alphabet then those in the structures beside it. The names are inside the structures, which i have access to. I don't need a full comaparison if that is more work, even just the first letter is fine. Thanks for the help!

  • Check directory for files, retrieve first file

    - by Lowgain
I'm writing a small ruby daemon that I am hoping will do the following: Check if a specific directory has files (in this case, .yml files) If so, take the first file (numerically sorted preferrably), and parse into a hash Do a 'yield', with this hash as the argument What I have right now is like: loop do get_next_in_queue { |s| THINGS } end def get_next_in_queue queue_dir = Dir[File.dirname(__FILE__)+'/../queue'] info = YAML::load_file(queue_dir[0]) #not sure if this works or not yield info end I'd like to make the yield conditional if possible, so it only happens if a file is actually found. Thanks!
