  I have a very long text and I need to hide everything except the first two paragraphs. For various reasons I'd rather not use jquery for this site. Can this be done with css only? • First iPhone App View Position Problem

  I am closely following the instructions given in the tutorial "Your First iPhone Application" on apple ADC. In the interface builder, I have set up a button positioned on the top according to the Apple Interface Guidelines. It runs without trouble if I simulate the interface in IB. However, if I run the built app, I get what is shown here. If you look at the view clearly, you will see that the entire view has been shifted up. And the magnitude of the shift is exactly the height of the status bar. And that's why the there is blank space at the bottom of the window, which was white instead of red. I have tried turning on the "Simulated Interface Elements", but that doesn't work either. The problem persists on real devices as well. However, using the "Simulate Interface" from IB looks fine. • Not loading the object caused EF4 (code first) to remove the relationship

  Firstly this is a EF4: Code First - Property Loading question. I'm loading an object like so var item = Context.Table.Find( update.Identifier ); This object has a property Relationship so a table has a Relationship object. Now i'm updating my item but my Relationship object is not toched (and therefore not lazy loaded). Now here's the problem .. I save my item and my relationship to the Relationship object is deleted, apparently the model thinks i set it to null. However it all works if I look at the property before saving. So I'm looking into LoadProperty or doing a query and using Include. Has anyone else come across this issue and how did you get around it?

• routing paramenter returns null when only supplying first paramenter in MVC

  My issue is that I customer Map Route in MVC which takes three parameters. When I supply all three or just two, the parameters are passed from the URL to my controller. However, when I only supply the first parameter, it is not passed and returns null. Not sure what causes this behavior. • Slow first page load on asp.net site

  Hi, Every now and then (always after a long period of idle-time, e.g. overnight) when I access a site built using asp.net - it takes around 15 seconds to load the page (15 seconds before I see any progress whatsoever, then the page comes up fast). Further pages on that site, or refreshes, are quick as usual - they are also fast on other machines, only the first one seems to take the 'hit'. Page tracing never through anything up (whole cycle was a fraction of a second) So my question is where else should I be looking? Perhaps IIS? Or could it still be my asp.net app and I'm just looking in the wrong place (the trace) for clues? As I don't have much control over the IIS server, anything I can check through asp.net would be more helpful, before I go ask that particular admin. cheers :D

  Alright, so I'm putting together a path to select a revision of a particular novel: SELECT Catalog.WbsId, Catalog.Revision, NovelRevision.Revision FROM Catalog, BookInCatalog INNER JOIN NovelMaster INNER JOIN HasNovelRevision INNER JOIN NovelRevision ON HasNovelRevision.right = NovelRevision.obid ON HasNovelRevision.Left=NovelMaster.obid ON NovelMaster.obid = BookInCatalog.Right WHERE Catalog.obid = BookInCatalog.Left; This returns all revisions that are in the Novel Master for each Novel Master that is in the catalog. The problem is, I only want the FIRST revision of each novel master in the catalog. How do I go about doing that? Oh, and btw: my flavor of sql is hobbled, as many others are, in that it does not support the LIMIT Function.

However for first time visitors to understand what service the site actually provides I'm brainstorming with the following ideas.   Hi, I am using SVN and have a repository on a remote machine. Sometimes, when working on my local machine I realize that I need to add some new files to the repo. The usual procedure I know would then be: 1- at the current folder on my local machine checkout the whole SVN repo 2- enter there 3- copy the interesting file here 4- commit But this can be a bit tedious. I wonder if somehow, I can omit steps 1 to 3 and import the "interesting" file to SVN directly without necessity of checking out the repo first. Thanks

  I am contemplating writing my first blackberry app. I am fundamentally, a C/C++ programmer (not Java), can anyone provide some guidelines on the quickest route (i.e. shallowest learning curve) to writing a blackberry app? • Load all tab bar views when application first runs

  Here's the problem. I have a tab bar controller with 4 separate views. When I navigate from the first view to the second view, it takes some time to load up the second view. What I want to do is be able to load and initialize all of my tab bar views during my splash screen. That way, when the user navigates between the tab views, there is no wait time.   I am using code first approach in a ASP.NET MVC 3 application and all integer primary keys in models (public int Id { get; set; }) are by default configured as an identity with auto-incrementing. How to disable this and enable a way to manually enter the integer for the primary key? The actual situation is that the Id integers have a special meaning and I would therefore like to have them choosable at creation and later editable. It would be ideal if in case the integer is not given at creation time it is auto-incremented, else the specified value is used. But editable primary fields is my primary need.
