  • jquery simplemodal question (about window overflow)

    I noticed that if the height of the window is too small (meaning that the modal is taller than the window is), then even scrolling up or down won't reveal more of the modal, since it is constantly centering itself to the center of the window. Is there a good way of changing this? I have a tall modal that if someone's using a short monitor it may cause problems. Not to mention just general usability. I would guess that somewhere in the code you can test for if the window height is less than the modal to not worry about centering it vertically? Ideas?

  • firefox object height ignored when data

    I have a flash video loading in a modal window. It works in others browsers but not Firefox. Firefox opens the modal window to the correct width of the object, but with no height. I have come to learn that Firefox does not recognize <param> and instead uses the data attribute. However, when I remove this attribute, the modal opens with correct height. What is going on?   • Recreating "presentModalViewController"?

    I'm using a UIImagePickerController set up as a camera with an overlay view. I want to present a modal view controller on top on this. When I do so, though, the camera view "closes". This would be okay, but when I dismissModalViewControllerAnimated, I see the closed camera, and there is a long and annoying delay before it reopens. I would like to avoid this. Unless someone has a better approach, I am planning to simply perform the transition that presentModalViewController would perform myself. However, if I take my modal view from it's controller and add it as a sub view of the camera overlay view, like this: [[_imagePickerController cameraOverlayView] addSubview: [viewController view]]; then the modal view doesn't show up at all, and the application crashes with an EXC_BAD_ACCESS in my "modal" view's layoutSubViews. Where as, if I present it with presentModalViewController, everything works fine. Clearly, presentModalViewController is also doing some other stuff. Does anyone know what this is so that I can recreate it?

  • Add an event to HTML elements with a specific class.

    Hello everybody, I'm working on a modal window, and I want to make the function as reusable as possible. Said that, I want to set a few anchor tags with a class equals to "modal", and when a particular anchor tag is clicked, get its Id and pass it to a function that will execute another function based on the Id that was passed. This is what I have so far: // this gets an array with all the elements that have a class equals to "modal" var anchorTrigger = document.getElementsByClassName('modal'); Then I tried to set the addEventListener for each item in the array by doing this: var anchorTotal = anchorTrigger.length; for(var i = 0; i < anchorTotal ; i++){ anchorTrigger.addEventListener('click', fireModal, false); } and then run the last function "fireModal" that will open the modal, like so: function fireModal(){ //some more code here ... } My problem is that in the "for" loop, I get an error saying that anchorTrigger.addEvent ... is not a function. I can tell that the error might be related to the fact that I'm trying to set up the "addEventListener" to an array as oppose to individual elements, but I don't know what I'm supposed to do. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    I would like to intercept outgoing calls and pass them to a VOIP application. I see that the Google Voice application has a feature for displaying a question before each call is actually initiated. It provides the user with the choice: Initiate call via Google Voice Initiate call via standard call I would like a way to do something similar with my application (so that not all calls have to be routed through it). At the moment, I can intercept CALL events via a BroadcastReceiver, however, these are not allowed to open dialogs (thus making it possible to display the choice). What is the best way of achieving this goal?

  • Any thoughts on how to create a true 'punch-out' area in a Sprite?

    I've been working on this for awhile, now. You might also call it a 'reverse mask', or an 'inverse mask'. Basically, I'm creating a view window within a display object. I need to allow objects on the stage that are under the window to be able to interact with the mouse. This is similar to a WPF question: http://stackoverflow.com/questions/740994/use-wpf-object-to-punch-hole-in-another, which has a much shorter write-up. I've got a Class called PunchOutShield, which creates a Sprite that covers the stage (or over some desired area). The Sprite's Graphics object is filled using the color and transparency of Flex's modal screen. The result is a screen that looks like the screen which appears behind a modal PopUp. PunchOutShield has a method called punch, which takes two arguments - the first is a Shape object, which defines the shape of the punch-through area; the second is a Point object, which indicates where to position the punch-through area. It took some experimenting, but I found that I can successfully create a punch-out area (i.e. - the modal screen does not display within the bounds of the given Shape). To do this, I set cacheAsBitmap to true on the Sprite that is used to create the modal screen, and also on the Shape object, which is added to the modal screen Sprite's displayList. If I set the blend mode of the Shape to ERASE, a completely transparent area is created in the modal screen. So far, great. The problem is that Shape does not subclass InteractiveObject, so there is no way to set mouseEnabled = false on it. And so, it prevents interaction between the mouse and any objects that are visible through the punch-out area. On top of that, InteractiveObject isn't available to look at, so I can't see if there is a way to borrow what it's doing to provide the mouseEnabled functionality and apply it to a subclass of Shape. I've tried using another Sprite object, rather than a Shape object, but the blending doesn't work out correctly. I'm not sure why there is a difference, but the Shape object seems to somehow combine with the parenting Sprite, allowing the ERASE blendMode to effect the desired punch-out visual appearance. It wouldn't be the end of the world if I had to draw up the screen with a series of rectangles so that the punch-out area was just simply not drawn, but that approach won't work if the punch-out area is complex. Or round. Any thoughts on this approach, or on an alternative approach?

  • Colorbox iFrame content not appearing in IE 8/9

    I'm using ColorBox to call a few informational modals on-screen and given the client's requirements, the best way to do this is via iFrames (not my first choice but whatever). Everything is working peachy in Chrome, FF, etc. but the iFrame content is not working in any version of IE. The modal wrapper appears but nothing is inside. This is what I've done so far: Changed the doctype to transitional and strict for IE. No dice. Removed the "iframe: true" and replaced it with HTML "Hello". That worked fine and "Hello" appeared in the Colorbox modal. I've removed all stylesheets from the header. No luck so it's not a CSS issue. Just to be sure, I rolled back my JQuery library to 1.6.2 from 1.8.2. Nothing there, either. Any help would be appreciated. This is aggravating.   • Looking for suggestions on how to reuse AlertDialogs to confirm actions of contextual menus on the items of an ActivityList

    I use a ListActivity to display a list of items. The user can long-press an item in the list to display a contextual menu. This menu contains among other things an option to delete the long-pressed item. When the user selects this option, a dialog pops up asking for confirmation of the deletion. Upon confirmation, the item is deleted from the list. I would like to reuse the AlertDialog as much as possible. My attempts at using onPrepareDialog(int, View, Bundle) have been defeated by the fact that the Bundle is not passed to the DialogInterface.OnClickListener. I end up having to recreate a listener on every invocation. I see several ways to solve this: recreate the dialog on every occasion (pros: simple, cons: wasteful) keep the DialogInterface.OnClickListener in a field on the ListActivity and keep the item to be deleted as a field of the listener. (pros: no memory waste, cons: need to manage state). Q: is this safe? have onPrepareDialog update the title, and bind new View.OnClickListeners on the buttons of the AlertDialog. (pros: limit waste, cons: new View.OnClickListener on every invocation). If DialogInterface.OnClickListener accepted a Bundle, I wouldn't have to jump through hoops to keep track of the item being deleted. This is not a blocker, but I would love to see an elegant solution.   • How can I clear content without getting the dreaded "stop running this script?" dialog?

    I have a div, that holds a div. like this: <div id='reportHolder' class='column'> <div id='report'> </div> </div> Within the inner div, I add a bunch (7-12) of pairs of a and div elements, like this: <h4><a>Heading1</a></h4> <div> ...content here....</div> The total size of the content, is maybe 200k. Each div just contains a fragment of HTML. Within it, there are numerous <span> elements, containing other html elements, and they nest, to maybe 5-8 levels deep. Nothing really extraordinary, I don't think. After I add all the content, I then create an accordion. like this: $('#report').accordion({collapsible:true, active:false}); This all works fine. The problem is, when I try to clear or remove the report div, it takes a looooooong time, and I get 3 or 4 popups asking "Do you want to stop running this script?" I have tried several ways: option 1: $('#report').accordion('destroy'); $('#report').remove(); $("#reportHolder").html("<div id='report'> </div>"); option 2: $('#report').accordion('destroy'); $('#report').html(''); $("#reportHolder").html("<div id='report'> </div>"); option 3: $('#report').accordion('destroy'); $("#reportHolder").html("<div id='report'> </div>"); after getting a suggestion in the comment, I also tried: option 4: $('#report').accordion('destroy'); $('#report').empty(); $("#reportHolder").html("<div id='report'> </div>"); No matter what, it hangs for a long while. The call to accordion('destroy') seems to not be the source of the delay. It's the erasure of the html content within the report div. This is jQuery 1.3.2. EDIT - fixed code typo. ps: this happens on FF3.5 as well as IE8 . Questions: What is taking so long? How can I remove content more quickly? Addendum I broke into the debugger in FF, during "option 4", and the stacktrace I see is: data() trigger() triggerHandler() add() each() each() add() empty() each() each() (?)() // <<-- this is the call to empty() ResetUi() // <<-- my code onclick I don't understand why add() is in the stack. I am removing content, not adding it. I'm afraid that in the context of the remove (all), jQuery does something naive. Like it grabs the html content, does the text replace to remove one html element, then calls .add() to put back what remains. Is there a way to tell jQuery to NOT propagate events when removing HTML content from the dom?

  • Why is my background image not displaying properly in IE7?

    Screenshot of the issue: here Webpage in Question: http://cure.org Offending browser: Internet Explorer 7 You'll notice from the screenshot, or if you view this site in IE7, that the background image is not displaying for the content div (#modal-inner-content). Strangely, the image displays in the other divs where it is used (since it's a sprite, I'm using that same image for #modal-top-border and #modal-btm-border). In all other browsers it displays properly, and even in IE8. I cannot seem to find what CSS rule (or lack thereof) I may be using that IE7 is choking on. NOTE: in order to get the modal screen, just click the link at the very top banner of the page that says "login to your CURE account

  • Javascript + IFrame + Chrome + Https = strange issue

    Using a modal plugin for jquery, I'm opening an iframe in a modal with a click event and setting the source attribute to a relative url (should be within https). The page containing the click is an authenticated ssl page. In IE and Safari, this works as expected. In Chrome and Firefox, the source url is opened in http not https. If I set the source to an absolute url using https, same result.   • Is there a way to change the permissions of a series of directories on Windows 7 without getting a dialog box when it can't change the rights?

    Is there some way to change the permissions recursively on a series of directories without getting a dialog box that pops up and tells me it can't change the permissions on a particular file? I keep getting this dialogs multiple times duing the process of changing permissions: An error occurred while applying security information to: C:\pagefile.sys The process cannot access the file because it is being used another process. Eventually I get so many of them that I start clicking the mouse or pressing the space bar so many times that I accidentally click the cancel button. Also it would be great if I could keep a log of which files it can't change permissions on. Is this possible in Windows 7? Does it have to be done from the command prompt or from powershell?

    Microsoft has just announced the Windows Azure SDK 1.6 and the Windows Azure Tools for Visual Studio 1.6. Now people can download the latest product through the WebPI. After you downloaded and installed the SDK you will find that The SDK 1.6 can be stayed side by side with the SDK 1.5, which means you can still using the 1.5 assemblies. But the Visual Studio Tools would be upgraded to 1.6. Different from the previous SDK, in this version it includes 4 components: Windows Azure Authoring Tools, Windows Azure Emulators, Windows Azure Libraries for .NET 1.6 and the Windows Azure Tools for Microsoft Visual Studio 2010. There are some significant upgrades in this version, which are Publishing Enhancement: More easily connect to the Windows Azure when publish your application by retrieving a publish setting file. It will let you configure some settings of the deployment, without getting back to the developer portal. Multi-profiles: The publish settings, cloud configuration files, etc. will be stored in one or more MSBuild files. It will be much easier to switch the settings between vary build environments. MSBuild Command-line Build Support. In-Place Upgrade Support.   Publishing Enhancement So let’s have a look about the new features of the publishing. Just create a new Windows Azure project in Visual Studio 2010 with a MVC 3 Web Role, and right-click the Windows Azure project node in the solution explorer, then select Publish, we will find the new publish dialog. In this version the first thing we need to do is to connect to our Windows Azure subscription. Click the “Sign in to download credentials” link, we will be navigated to the login page to provide the Live ID. The Windows Azure Tool will generate a certificate file and uploaded to the subscriptions those belong to us. Then we will download a PUBLISHSETTINGS file, which contains the credentials and subscriptions information. The Visual Studio Tool will generate a certificate and deployed to the subscriptions you have as the Management Certificate. The VS Tool will use this certificate to connect to the subscription in the next step. In the next step, I would back to the Visual Studio (the publish dialog should be stilling opened) and click the Import button, select the PUBLISHSETTINGS file I had just downloaded. Then all my subscriptions will be shown in the dropdown list. Select a subscription that I want the application to be published and press the Next button, then we can select the hosted service, environment, build configuration and service configuration shown in the dialog. In this version we can create a new hosted service directly here rather than go back to the developer portal. Just select the <Create New …> item in the hosted service. What we need to do is to provide the hosted service name and the location. Once clicked the OK, after several seconds the hosted service will be established. If we went to the developer portal we will find the new hosted service in my subscription. a) Currently we cannot select the Affinity Group when create a new hosted service through the Visual Studio Publish dialog. b) Although we can specify the hosted service name and DNS prefixing through the developer portal, we cannot do so from the VS Tool, which means the DNS prefixing would be the same as what we specified for the hosted service name. For example, we specified our hosted service name as “Sdk16Demo”, so the public URL would be http://sdk16demo.cloudapp.net/. After created a new hosted service we can select the cloud environment (production or staging), the build configuration (release or debug), and the service configuration (cloud or local). And we can set the Remote Desktop by check the related checkbox as well. One thing should be note is that, in this version when we set the Remote Desktop settings we don’t need to specify a certificate by default. This is because the Visual Studio will generate a new certificate for us by default. But we can still specify an existing certificate for RDC, by clicking the “More Options” button. Visual Studio Tool will create another certificate for the Remote Desktop connection. It will NOT use the certificate that managing the subscription. We also can select the “Advanced Settings” page to specify the deployment label, storage account, IntelliTrace and .NET profiling information, etc.. Press Next button, the dialog will display all settings I had just specified and it will save them as a new profile. The last step is to click the Publish button. Since we enabled the Remote Desktop feature, the first step of publishing was uploading the certificate. And then it will verify the storage account we specified and upload the package, then finally created the website in Windows Azure.   Multi-Profiles After published, if we back to the Visual Studio we can find a AZUREPUBXML file under the Profiles folder in the Azure project. It includes all settings we specified before. If we publish this project again, we can just use the current settings (hosted service, environment, RDC, etc.) from this profile without input them again. And this is very useful when we have more than one deployment settings. For example it would be able to have one AZUREPUBXML profile for deploying to testing environment (debug building, less roles with RDC and IntelliTrace) and one for production (release building, more roles but without IntelliTrace).   In-Place Upgrade Support Let’s change some codes in the MVC pages and click the Publish menu from the azure project node. No need to specify any settings,  here we can use the pervious settings by loading the azure profile file (AZUREPUBXML). After clicked the Publish button the VS Tool brought a dialog to us to indicate that there’s a deployment available in the hosted service environment, and prompt to REPLACE it or not. Notice that in this version, the dialog tool said “replace” rather than “delete”, which means by default the VS Tool will use In-Place Upgrade when we deploy to a hosted service that has a deployment already exist. After click Yes the VS Tool will upload the package and perform the In-Place Upgrade. If we back to the developer portal we can find that the status of the hosted service was turned to “Updating…”. But in the previous SDK, it will try to delete the whole deployment and publish a new one.   Summary When the Microsoft announced the features that allows the changing VM size via In-Place Upgrade, they also mentioned that in the next few versions the user experience of publishing the azure application would be improved. The target was trying to accomplish the whole publish experience in Visual Studio, which means no need to touch developer portal any more. In the SDK 1.6 we can see from the new publish dialog, as a developer we can do the whole process, includes creating hosted service, specifying the environment, configuration, remote desktop, etc. values without going back the the developer portal.   Hope this helps, Shaun All documents and related graphics, codes are provided "AS IS" without warranty of any kind.   • Android exception i don't understand after loading webpage in a webview

Edit MySQL Data This may be the coolest feature so far; users will be able to edit the data in a MySQL table using MS Excel in a very friendly and intuitive way.  Edit Data supports inserting new rows, deleting existing rows and updating existing data as easy as playing with data in an Excel’s spreadsheet and pushing changes back to the server.  Also this version contains the following bug fixes: Enabled the following checkboxes in the Append Data's Advanced Options dialog and added code in the Append Data dialog to use the checkboxes as follows: Automatically store the column mapping for the given table     If checked the current mapping will be stored automatically after clicking the Append button if the append operation is successful and there is no mapping for the current connection.schema.table already; the new mapping is stored with a proposed name of Mapping. Reload stored column mapping for the selected table automatically     If checked the first Stored Mapping found where all column names in the source grid match all column names in the target grid is automatically selected and applied when the Append Data dialog is loaded. Fixed code in Append Data that applies a stored column mapping to skip target columns where the associated mapping is empty (saved as a -1). Enclosed the Add-In's startup code in a try-catch block in order to log any possible error thrown during startup; and added information messages to the log at the beginning of the Add-In's startup code and at the end of the shutdown code.  Also changed the wrapper method that calls the MySQLUtility to write messages to the log to make logging easier, thus changed the log call throughout all the code that contains a try-catch block. Added code to the main wix configuration file to check if a newer version is already installed and if so abort the installation Fixed code to refresh the Import Procedure Form's preview grid's data source to repaint its contents every time the Call button is pressed. Added code to re-pull connections after connections are migrated from Excel to Workbench. Fixed code so when the Append Data's Automatic Mapping is performed any subsequent change on a mapping resets the mapping to a Manual Mapping. Added code to the InfoDialog class to set the button text to "Show Details" or "Hide Details" depending on the status of the Details text container. Fixed a GUID in the main wix configuration file so now previous versions are uninstalled during a new installation. Added an option to the Export Data's Advanced Options dialog to remove columns with no data, by default the Export Dialog will only flag those columns as Excluded. Added code to display a warning and paint a column red if the column name in the Export Data dialog is not set, display a warning if the table name is not set, and stack warnings but not display them if a column is Excluded, warnings are displayed normally for columns if they are not Excluded anymore.  Added code to prevent the Append and Export of Data if more than 1 selection is made (selecting more than 1 area holding the Ctrl key while selecting Excel cells). Fixed problem that prevented MySQL for Excel from loading when Display settings in Windows 7 is set to Adjust to Best Performance (Oracle bug 14521405 - UNHANDLED EXCEPTION IS THROWN WHEN LOADING MYSQL FOR EXCEL). Fixed code that renames the auto-generated Primary Key column when the Table name changes since it was not detecting if a column with the same name already existed in the table. The column duplication was not actually happening, it looked that way because the automatically generated PK column was not detecting a column had that same name. Fixed code in Export Data dialog to always set an empty string instead of null to the MySQLDataColumn properties that stores MySQL data types (MySQLDataType, RowsFrom1stDataType and RowsFrom2ndDataType). Added code to display a warning and color red a column which Data Type has not been set by the user or has been manually cleared. Added code to output to the application log exception messages consistently in all places where exceptions are catched.
