  • What's the easiest and safest way to record data being inputted by a user on a web site

    Apologies, this is a tragically simple question that will bore most of you. I need to implement the simplest "leave your email and we'll contact you" web page. The simplest thing I could think of is doing an HTML form which calls a PHP script which appends the data in some file on the server.     I'm running on an OS X environment and would like to create a flexible web development environment locally... including the option to run on an Nginx server for my PHP-based application. At the end of the day (or, development cycle), I'd like to be able to hit a switch and have it all sync over to Amazon AWS hosting (EC2, S3) - instances, databases, files, configurations, and all. Are there any simple ways to do this?

    Lately I have been learning of more and more programmers who think that if they were working alone, they would be faster and would deliver more quality. Usually that feeling is attached to a feeling that they do the best programming in their team and at the end of the day the idea is quite plausible. If they ARE doing the best programming, and worked alone (and more maybe) the final result would be a better piece of software. I know this idea would only work if you where enough passionate to work 24/7, on a deadline, and great discipline. So after considering the idea and trying to learn a little more, I wonder if there are famous one-man-army programmers that have delivered any (useful) software in the past?

    I have two Models, Modela and Modelb. Modela can only own one Modelb, but Modelb can be a part of many Modela's. What I have right now is class Modela < ActiveRecord::Base has_one :modelb end class Modelb < ActiveRecord::Base belongs_to :modela, :foreign_key => "modela_id" #might not make sense? end Not too sure about the whole :foreign_key thing I was doing there, but it was where it was when I left off. As I am trying to allow Modelb to be part of many Modela's, I don't want to add a modela_id field to the Modelb table. What is the best way to do this?

  • Improve responsiveness of $(...).click on touch interface

    I need access to a web-based on screen keyboard which will be used on a touch interface. This example looks nice and functional, however when I try it on an iPad, the responsiveness it very low IMHO. It's not comfortable to use and sometimes whole words are misspelled due to slow response. Is there a way to improve the experience on this type of on screen keyboard? This implementation uses the $('#id').click(...); function to process the events. Is there a better way to achieve the goal of typing on the screen? Are there better plugins out there? Note: The final application will run on different types of devices. For several reasons, native on screen keyboards are no option.

EDIT: I know that technically all these snippets are just javascript scripts that gets evaluated by the browser as if they were defined in the page. I also know that many browsers have got extensions to let you run javascript code (also letting you store scripts somewhere, providing a good editor etc etc). However that's not so practical; I'm not a javascript developer, haven't got firebug installed, and I can't install it anywhere I go. My idea idea is that of collecting the best "mini-scripts" that whoever can just copy and paste in his browser without the need of installing extensions and stuff.

    I have a simple non-clickable link within a div that looks like this: It's meant to be a sharable link that the user can copy paste into other things. For usability purposes, I want a single left click anywhere within the div to select the entire link: I don't know much about, javascript/web programming, so I've tried the following: <div id="share_link" onClick="select_all('share_link')"><%= request.url %></div> and this javascript <script type="text/javascript"> function select_all(id) { document.getElementById(id).focus(); } </script> This doesn't work. I'd like to know what's the simplest thing I should do to achieve what I want. I thought about changing the div to a text input or the text within to be a link, but ideally the content within should be read-only, non-editable, and non-clickable

  • "NT AUTHORITY\ANONYMOUS LOGON" error in Windows 7 (ASP.NET & Web Service)

    I have an asp.net web app which works fine in Windows XP machine in a domain. I am porting it to a Windows 7 stand alone machine. The app uses a web service which makes a call to sql server. The web server (IIS 7.5) and SQL Server are on the same stand alone machine. I enabled Windows authentication for the website and web service. The web service uses a trusted connection connection string. The web service credentials uses System.Net.CredentialCache.DefaultCredentials. I noticed username, password and domainname are blank after the call! The webservice and web site use an application pool with identity "Network Service". I am getting an exception "NT AUTHORITY\ANONYMOUS LOGON" in the database call in the web service. I am assuming it's related to the blank credentials. I am expecting ASPNET user to be the security token to the database. Why is this not happening? (Usually this happens when sql server and web server are on two different machines in a domain, delegation & double hopping, but in my case everything is on a dev box)

I did not get over this error. Moreover I did try to connect the web server on the same computer. I copied my executable program to the computer where the web service runs. The error was like; The underlying connection was closed: Could not establish trust relationship for SSL/TLS secure channel PS: When I try to connect to web service by using Internet Explorer; I see firstly some warnings about accepting an unknown certificate and I click take me to web service an I get there clearly. I want to know what are the basic elements to connect a web service, could you please tell me the requirements that I have to use on my windows project. regards bk

  • Installing SharePoint 2010 in one machine with built in database

    It is very easy to deploy SharePoint 2010 in a single server using the built-in database. Normally one need to choose such installation for evaluation purposes. When installing with default settings, setup installs Microsoft SQL server 2008 express database along with SharePoint. After installing SharePoint, you need to run SharePoint products and technology configuration wizard which will install central admin website and creates the configuration database and content database for SharePoint sites. Limitations 1. You can not perform this installation on a domain controller 2. The maximum size for express edition database is 4 GB SharePoint 2010 only supports 64 bit operating systems. The installation steps are for windows server r2 64 bit enterprise edition. Installation steps The first screen for the installation is as follows As a first step you need to install the s/w prerequisites. Click on the corresponding link Click next, here you have to agree on the license terms. Select the checkbox and then click next. The installation will starts. The progress will be updated in the screen. This may take some time as during this process, there are some components needs to be downloaded from internet. Make sure you are connected to the internet, then only the installation will become a success. If any error occurs, it will display the error, you need to configure in order to continue. If everything ok you will receive the following success page. Click finish to exit the installation window. Now from the first screen, select Install SharePoint server. This will install SharePoint and SQL server 2008 express edition. First you need to enter the product key for SharePoint. Enter the product key and clicks continue. Now you need to accept the license agreement. Select the checkbox and click on continue. Select the installation type you want.   Now click on the standalone button. In production scenario, you need to select the server farm installation. This article only cover the first option, installing server farm is not in the scope of this article. Once you click on the standalone, the installation starts and you can view the progress as below. If any error occurred during installation, you will get the details and link to the log file. Refer log file and fix the corresponding issue and then start the installation again. If installation completes without any error, you will see the below screen. Make sure you selected the check box “Run the SharePoint products Configuration Wizard now” and click close. The SharePoint products configuration wizard starts. Click next; you will get the following warning Click yes and the configuration steps starts. You can view the progress for each step. Once completed the below screen appears to the user. Click finish to complete the installation. Now SharePoint installation is completed. You can navigate to SharePoint central administration website from the administrative tools and start building your portal. Good luck

I want any request to http://foo.com (no matter what path/filename is used) to redirect to http://www.bar.org/AwesomePage.html UNLESS the request is for http://www.foo.com/specialdir, in which case the HTML files in the local directory specialdir should be used. The problem I have is once the redirect is set it also affects /specialdir - even if I right click on that directory and select "content should come from ... local directory" that change does not take effect, and the directory still shows as redirecting to http://www.bar.org/AwesomePage.html. The same thing happens if I try to set individual files to load from the local system instead of redirecting - IIS gives no error, but the change does not take effect and the files still show as being redirected. How can I set specialdir to override the redirection to the new URL?

    I need to know how can I enable mouse click on a button when I have a MouseEvent listener for the stage. I have a MClip associated with the mouse cursor: Mouse.hide(); scope.startDrag(true); And an MouseEnvet on the stage: stage.addEventListener(MouseEvent.CLICK, FunctionXYZ); When I try to click on any button they don't assume the function that I create for those buttons... for example, button for fullscreen, exit, help, etc...     I'm running into a problem trying to get Windows Authentication working in an environment that uses Microsoft Application Request Routing and was hoping someone might be able to help. The problem I'm running into is that only some requests are authenticated, while others fail with 401 errors. I have followed the Special Case of Running IIS 7.0 in a Web Farm instructions found at http://blogs.msdn.com/b/webtopics/archive/2009/01/19/service-principal-name-spn-checklist-for-kerberos-authentication-with-iis-7-0.aspx to no avail. My current server setup looks like the following: ARR Two servers set up with IIS shared configuration using IIS 7.5 on Windows 2008 R2 Anonymous authentication turned on for the Default Web Site Web Farm Two servers running IIS 7.5 on Windows 2008 R2 Three web sites set up using port binding to differentiate between virtual hosts. Ports being used are 8000, 8001, and 8002 Application pools for Windows Authentication all use a common domain account SPN added to domain account for http/<virthalhost-name>:<port-number> and http/<virtualhost-name>.<fully-qualified-domain>:<port-number> The IIS logs show the following when authentication is working/failing.   • Double click executable file and nothing happens

    I'm trying to install a game for Linux called Myth 2. Autorun doesn't run when I insert the CD. When I double-click or right-click and the select "Open" on the Setup file, a box appears saying that it's an executable file, and what I want to do. I click on "Run", but nothing happens after that. I checked the permissions, and it allows it running the executable. How do I install this game? Please break down instructions as much as possible, I'm not used to using commands and Terminal. ;)

  • One click access to bookmarked files?

    On my Windows machine with just one click I can launch favourite or bookmarked files that I use on a daily basis, which is a great time-saver. Is there any way to do this with 11.10 Unity? Ideally I would like to right-click on an icon in the launcher and have a list of files appear that I could then left-click to launch, but I'd be happy for any simple solution. Please note that I am not referring to recently used files lists - these do not work at all because the bookmarked file will always drop off the bottom of any recently used file list.

  • No lock screen when the right click menu is open

    I just found that the lock screen on my laptop does not show up when the right click menu is open. I discovered this when I pressed the right click button accidentally while closing the lid and the laptop went to sleep, but the lock screen never showed up when I opened the lid again. I am also not able to lock the system manually(with ctrl+alt+L) when the right click menu is open. Is this by design or is it a bug? I would assume that the screen should be locked automatically when the computer goes to sleep, but this doesn't seem to be the case. Anyone have any suggestions? My specs are: Dell Vostro 1500, Ubuntu 12.10

Could somebody provide some sample code? I'm not using any cursor for the click.

  • Mouse click firing twice

    I have recently switched to XUbuntu (14.04) and I have noticed that sometimes a mouse click is fired twice. E.g. I CTRL click a link and two tabs with the same content are opened in my browser. It's not behaviour I can reproduce consistently and seems to be random (to me). I also don't know of a good way to inspect the behaviour properly for debugging purposes. I have checked the double click time setting but this doesn't seem to have any impact on this. I also run XUbuntu (13.10) in a VM on my MacBook Air and this behaviour seems to absent there. At this point in time I can't really tell if this is related to the distribution or the fact that it runs in a VM. Any insights greatly appreciated.
