  • Adding tables to sql server result in Domain\user.name.tablename

    Our app uses migratordotnet to modify the backing SQL Server 2005 database. This works great 99% of the time but we are running into an issue. We have a client that is using and Active Directory group for sql server login and when new tables are added it creates them as Domain\login.table_name. What permissions are needed to be given to the AD group to add the tables as dbo.table_name? This does not happen in with all of our clients with similar configurations so I must be missing something.

  • Scalable Full Text Search With Per User Result Ordering

    What options exist for creating a scalable, full text search with results that need to be sorted on a per user basis? This is for PHP/MySQL (Symfony/Doctrine as well, if relevant). In our case, we have a database of workouts that have been performed by users. The workouts that the user has done before should appear at the top of the results. The more frequently they've done the workout, the higher it should appear in search matches. If it helps, you can assume we know the number of times a user has done a workout in advance. Possible Solutions Sphinx - Use Sphinx to implement full text search, do all the querying and sorting in MySQL. This seems promising (and there's a Symfony Plugin!) but I don't know much about it. Lucene - Use Lucene to perform full text search and put the users' completions into the query. As is suggested in this Stack Overflow thread. Alternatively, use Lucene to retrieve the results, then reorder them in PHP. However, both solutions seem clunky and potentially unscalable as a user may have completed hundreds of workouts. Mysql - No native full text support (InnoDB), so we'd have use LIKE or REGEX, which isn't scalable.

  • Does AsEnumerable() cache all result (LINQ)

    When we call a query operator on a sequence, a sequence-specific operator gets called. I mean if i call Where<>() operator on IEnumerable<>, the operator that will be called will be defined in Enumerable class and if it's called on IQueryable<>, the one defined in Queryable class will be called. Consider the operator Reverse, defined in the Enumerable class. If i want to call it on Iqueryable<> then I must use the AsEnumerable<>() operator to first convert it into IEnumerable<>. db.Countries.OrderBy(cntry=>cntry.CountryName).AsEnumerable().Reverse() But the Reverse operator got to have all records at the same time so that it can reverse them. In the above code do all the records get loaded in memory first and then the Reverse() operator is reversing it ?

    Hi everyone, I have coded a map that when a province object is clicked on, it should move to the center of the screen and grow a percentage of the width, along with displaying a number of different things. The problem is that in order for the image to resize it needs to be clicked on twice. It moves, and all of the children display just as they were designed to do, but the resize doesn't work on the first try.     I am trying to bhuild a drill down menu for my website, where user will click on a category and it will show the subcategories of that clicked category, there could be n-levels. I am able to write sql query which returns the output exactaly as I want, but the problem is...I dont want to show the whole menu to end user, I would like to open/expand only clicked category. my Query output is: 1 IPTV 2 Jadoo Tv 3 Shava Tv 4 Jalva Tv 5 Programming 6 Microsoft 7 Asp.Net 8 PHP so by default IPTV & Programming Should be displayed, since they are parent, and when I click on IPTV it should open the children of IPTV, like I said there could be n-levels. I was thinking, I can load the output of query to webpage and then control the menu navigation with css/javascript. do you guys have any ideas?

    I have a core data based app that manages a bunch of entities. I'm looking to be able to do the following. I have an entity "SomeEntity" with the attributes: name, type, rank, foo1, foo2. Now, SomeEntity has several rows if when we're speaking strictly in SQL terms. What I'm trying to accomplish is to retrieve only available types, even though each instance can have duplicate types. I also need them returned in order according to rank.   • Unmangling the result of std::type_info::name

    I'm currently working on some logging code that supposed to - among other things - print information about the calling function. This should be relatively easy, standard C++ has a type_info class. This contains the name of the typeid'd class/function/etc. but it's mangled. It's not very usefull. I.e. typeid(std::vector).name() returns "St6vectorIiSaIiEE". Is there a way to produce something usefull from this? Like 'std::vector' for the above example. If it only works for non-template classes, that's fine too. The sollution should work for gcc, but it would be better if I could port it. It's for logging so it's not so important that it can't be turned of, but it should be helpfull for debugging.

  • sqlite & python - only pulls the first result

    This is pretty strange (admitedly, this is my first attempt with python / sqlite), but I can seem to get all of the rows if I do a fetchAll(), but other than that - no matter what I try, always ends up in the db only returning the first row - the second iteration stops because a null is returned. Wondering if there is something wrong with how I am coding this up in python?   • gcc compilations (sometimes) result in cpu underload

    I have a larger C++ program which starts out by reading thousands of small text files into memory and storing data in stl containers. This takes about a minute. Periodically, a compilation will exhibit behavior where that initial part of the program will run at about 22-23% CPU load. Once that step is over, it goes back to ~100% CPU. It is more likely to happen with O2 flag turned on but not consistently. It happens even less often with the -p flag which makes it almost impossible to profile. I did capture it once but the gprof output wasn't helpful - everything runs with the same relative speed just at low cpu usage. I am quite certain that this has nothing to do with multiple cores. I do have a quad-core cpu, and most of the code is multi-threaded, but I tested this issue running a single thread. Also, when I run the problematic step in multiple threads, each thread only runs at ~20% CPU. I apologize ahead of time for the vagueness of the question but I have run out of ideas as to how to troubleshoot it further, so any hints might be helpful. UPDATE: Just to make sure it's clear, the problematic part of the code does sometimes (~30-40% of the compilations) run at 100% CPU, so it's hard to buy the (otherwise reasonable) argument that I/O is the bottleneck

  • IF/ELSE makes stored procedure not return a result set

    I have a stored procedure that needs to return something from one of two databases: IF @x = 1 SELECT @y FROM Table_A ELSE IF @x = 2 SELECT @y FROM Table_B Either SELECT alone will return what I want, but adding the IF/ELSE makes it stop returning anything. I tried: IF @x = 1 RETURN SELECT @y FROM Table_A ELSE IF @x = 2 RETURN SELECT @y FROM Table_B But that causes a syntax error. The two options I see are both horrible: Do a UNION and make sure that only one side has any results: SELECT @y FROM Table_A WHERE @x = 1 UNION SELECT @y FROM Table_B WHERE @x = 2 Create a temporary table to store one row in, and create and delete it every time I run this procedure (lots). Neither solution is elegant, and I assume they would both be horrible for performance (unless MS SQL is smart enough not to search the tables when the WHERE class is always false). Is there anything else I can do? Is option 1 not as bad as I think?

When I AND the two numbers together I expect 0000 0001 0000 0000 0000 0000 0000 0000, but for some reason I get 0.     Hi, I need to get a list of users Ranking by points and from my command line (MySQL) is was able to generate the necessary code: SET @rank=0; SELECT rank, iduser, pontos FROM ( SELECT @rank:=@rank+1 AS rank, SUM(points.points) AS pontos, points.iduser, users.name, users.idade FROM points INNER JOIN users ON (points.iduser = users.id) WHERE (users.idade >= %s) AND (users.idade <= %s) GROUP BY points.iduser ORDER BY pontos DESC) AS totals WHERE iduser = %s The problem is that I need this to run on AMFPHP and I´ve tested it in a test PHP file and seems that I can´t use the SET and SELECT in the same "mysql_query". I´ve looked and some used to mysql_query to do this (I´ve tested it and it works), but can I trust this to be effective and error free? Does it work like in MySQL transactions or setting the @rank in a seperated query may cause unexpected results?

  • jquery: Toggle elements based on result from a function

    I have a number of table rows that I would like to toggle the visibility of. They should be visible if a data item I have set on them earlier equals a selected value in a form. This is what I have so far: $('#category-selector').change(function(event) { var category_id = $(this).val(); if(!category_id) { $('tr', '#table tbody').show(); } else { $('tr', '#table tbody').toggle(); } }); Of course this just toggles them on and off. Thing is that I thought I was able to give toggle a function that would decide if each row should be on or off, but it turns out I can only give it a boolean condition which would be an all or nothing deal kind of... So, I have this function: function() { return $(this).data('category_id') == category_id; } How can I use that to go through all the rows and toggle them on or off? Or is there a better approach to this? What should I do?
