• What is the correct way to import and export out of Excel to SQL Server and back?

  Looking for the correct way and control to import and export of out of Microsoft Excel programmatically. I am willing to get a 3rd party control that supports this functionality, or I can create it myself, but looking to get this prioject done fast. The Datasource will be offline. Although when it is online for the upload/download if there is a control that would merge them, that would work also. But best is to remain offline, don't need the support headache. Security is also an issue. SSIS is not available on the shared database server. The website that hosts the asp.net application is not on the same machine as the sql server. Thank you.

• Adding relative path for an external graphic in a XSL document?

  Hi, first of, I don't know much about XSL. I am using a app called DITA to generate pdfs. One of the things it requires is an overwrite of an xsl file; to add custom styling. I am trying to add an external graphic using a relative path. It doesn't work, unless I supply the full path. Does not work: <fo:block text-align="center" width="100%"> <fo:external-graphic src="../../images/logo.png"/> </fo:block> Does work: <fo:block text-align="center" width="100%"> <fo:external-graphic src="/absolute/path/to/images/logo.png"/> </fo:block> I looked on the web, it said to use "file:image.png" and other website said to use "url(image.png)", but neither worked. What am I doing wrong?

• Creating colour schemes based on an existing scheme

  I have a colour scheme based around yellow, for warning messages on a website. It amounts to a slightly orange bordered box, with a pale yellow fill. The exact colours are: #FED626 (border) #FFF7C0 (fill) I want to know if it's possible to convert this scheme mathematically or algorithmically somehow, to come up with a blue version where the border is the "same amount" of blue as this one is yellow. Is this possible, or do I just "pin the tail on the donkey" on a colour pallet to get roughly the right one? I ask, because I'd quite like to be able to calculate this on the fly, to perhaps implement something in .less. To give you an idea, I tried swopping the red and blue values on those two, and came up with this: #26D6FE (border) #C0F7FF (fill) That wasn't too hard, but think about if I wanted a pink colour scheme... :)

• Why does localization with resx files fail with ZH (chinese) only?

  Howdy All, I've been tasked with localizing an English language ASP.NET MVC 2.0 website into 7 additional languages. I've added resource files to the Views Home App_LocalResources folder: Example: Index.resx, Index.es.resx, Index.fr.resx, Index.zh.resx, etc. I have set the CustomTool to PublicResXFileCodeGenerator (Access modifier is Public), Set file as an Embedded Resource, Set a Custom Tool Namespace. The keys ("Name") in all of the files are the same. For 7 languages this works perfectly. If I go into IE 8 settings and change the language to de,fr,it, etc., the page shows the appropriate translated strings. However, when I set the language in the Browser to any of the zh (Simplified Chinese) variants localization completely fails and the English strings are displayed. Is there something special about Simplified Chinese? Japanese and Korean work without problems. TIA, Trey Carroll

  I'm trying to create a Mozilla browser plugin for the sole purpose of detecting with javascript whether or not an application that I have written is installed. This was inspired by another stackoverflow question and answer on a similar subject. All I want really is a HelloWorld type example as what I need to write will be even simpler than that. There is a lot of information on the Mozilla website, but as a plugin noob and a C++ novice I'm experiencing information overload. I just need a step by step "this is how to create your first simple plugin". I have already written the IE equivalent by following this ATL tutorial. This is the kind of level of guide that I would ideally like to find. Please note, this is specifically about Mozilla plugins and not extensions - Googling this subject brings up a lot of information about extensions in addition to plugins.

I have multiple subfolders (http://www.site.com/es and http://www.site.com/de) that each have a respective .htaccess file. • Custom flash mp3 player stopping in the middle of playing audio on windows nt ie6 system

  We have used a custom MP3 flash player for a lot of years on our website without any issues, but recently, a client of ours is reporting that the audio is playing for several seconds and then stopping. When they refresh the page or click play in the player again the audio plays fine. We are puzzled as to what could be causing this issue after this running successfully for our clients for so many years. The client system is Windows NT running IE6. Does anyone have any idea what could cause the audio to behave this way? Could audio drivers or the version of flash cause problems? We do not have flash programmers on our team so we are not even sure where to start looking within the flash code of the player. Any ideas?

  I'm currently trying to scrape a website that has fairly poorly-formatted HTML (often missing closing tags, no use of classes or ids so it's incredibly difficult to go straight to the element you want, etc.). I've been using BeautifulSoup with some success so far but every once and a while (though quite rarely), I run into a page where BeautifulSoup creates the HTML tree a bit differently from (for example) Firefox or Webkit. While this is understandable as the formatting of the HTML leaves this ambiguous, if I were able to get the same parse tree as Firefox or Webkit produces I would be able to parse things much more easily. The problems are usually something like the site opens a <b> tag twice and when BeautifulSoup sees the second <b> tag, it immediately closes the first while Firefox and Webkit nest the <b> tags. Is there a web scraping library for Python (or even any other language (I'm getting desperate)) that can reproduce the parse tree generated by Firefox or WebKit (or at least get closer than BeautifulSoup in cases of ambiguity).

• VIM: created syntax not showing up?

  HI people I recently changed to VIM for coding in C. I'd like to hightlight the operators +-<=& ... etc I searched in google how should i do it, and i found the answer in this website: I was suppose to do something like: syntax match Operadores /[][><()&!|+*={}-]/ hi Operadores guifg=#000000 gui=BOLD Those characters were supposed to appear as black, bold characters. However, that doesn't happen when I open my .C files. However, if I create a newfile, (where there the C syntax doesn't show up), I am able to see the black, bolded operators. How can i correct this situation, and why is this happening (it seams like if my syntax is beeing overwrided by the C syntax). I'm using gvim, and this is my vimrc: colorscheme nicotine set smartindent set number set guifont=Inconsolata\ Medium\ 11 set numberwidth=5 noremap j jzz noremap k kzz Thanks, any help is appreciated. • Massive SQL issue shutting down our site.

  Our website has started timing out like crazy today. All of our clients are finding it unusable. The only error we can seem to trace down as a potential problem is this: SQLAllocHandle on SQL_HANDLE_DBC failed Error ASP Description Error Category Microsoft OLE DB Provider for ODBC Drivers I have no idea what it means or how to go about fixing it. Anyone ever encountered this error before? Currently, you can log in to our site, but then once you go to do anything else, you find yourself logged out or nothing happens. We have a lot of Ajax going on so the "nothing happens" probably has to do with the Ajax pages not loading properly due to logouts and so nothing displays to the user. Like I said, I'm at a loss. Anyone have any advice on this error?

[on Visual Studio] as a matter of simplicity I created a WCF service in the project itself [as-in I didnt host it in IIS, but let the build-in webdev server in VS do it for me] It works well, now I want to deploy it on IIS 7.0, can you tell me If i would need to host the service independently and then the remaining stuff or if I just publish the website, the service would be hosted too and the Silverlight client would be able to communicate with the service.   Hi, I have a FTP connection manager in SSIS. I have configured it with serevr IP, port number, user name, and password. It was working fine. But suddenly its stopped working. But i am able to login directly to the FTP web site directly .It was not working temporarily.But now its working with same login credentials. But my FTP connection manager in SSIS is unable to connect to the server. with following Error message "connection cannot be established.server name ,port number ,credentials may be invalid" What could be the reason?   I'm looking to add a textbox on my website that captures a single email address. Behind it, I would like a scrolling (or sliding) images to be a "hint" for what the field should be. Example: http://steamboat.com/ - the "Newsletter sign up" toward the top of the page. I can find plenty of jQuery plugins that provide a plain text "hint". I am using excel object for opening the excel file it works fine i my PC. when i make application as a website and running the page and uploading it gives the error "'C:\Documents and Settings\Administrator\Desktop\Work\SABRE MSO Mapping Request Template.xlsx' could not be found. Check the spelling of the file name, and verify that the file location is correct. If you are trying to open the file from your list of most recently used files, make sure that the file has not been renamed, moved, or deleted. ". I think it taking server path...but i want to open client excel file before saving the file to the server. Plz help.

• ASP.NET MVC 2 RC 2 returns Area-specific controller when no area specified

  I have a basic MVC 2 (RC2) site with one base-level controller ("Home"), and one area ("Admin") with one controller ("Abstract"). When i call http://website/Abstract - the Abstract controller in the Admin area gets called even though i haven't specified the Area in the URL. To make matters worse - it doesn't seem to know it's under Admin because it can't find the associated view and just returns: The view 'Index' or its master was not found. The following locations were searched: ~/Views/Abstract/Index.aspx ~/Views/Abstract/Index.ascx ~/Views/Shared/Index.aspx ~/Views/Shared/Index.ascx Am i doing something wrong? Is this a bug? A feature?

• Which full-text search package should I use for SQLite3?

  SQLite3 appears to come with three different full-text search engines, called FTS1, FTS2, and FTS3. The documentation available on the website mentions that FTS1 is stable, FTS2 is in development, and that you should use FTS2. Examples I find online use FTS3, which is in CVS, and not documented versus FTS2. None of the full-text search engines come with the amalgamated source, as near as I can tell. So, my question: which of these three engines, if any, should I use for full-text indexing in SQLite? Or should I simply use a third-party tool like Sphinx, or a custom solution in Lucene, instead?
