  • Monovation: Assembly Injection into Live Processes

    - by FlappySocks
I read this article by Miguel de Icaza on attaching an assembly into a live mono process. How is this any different to attaching a DLL to a running process? I do this already, but once the DLL is attached, it can't be unloaded without using an AppDomain (which I am trying to avoid). Miguel talks about "patch[ing] running programs", but I don't understand how. I cant find any other documentation or examples on this.

  • Deploying and hosting scala in the cloud?

    - by TiansHUo
I am starting a web app considering scalability as one of the top priorities. What would be the benefits of this: cassandra scala lift vs the traditional LAMP on the cloud? Since from what I've read, please correct me, the cloud itself is scalable I have never seen anyone deploy scala on the cloud before. Is it worth the effort to learn the platform? Is it ready for production use?

  • Gimpel's PC-lint and Flexelint; Anyone used them?

    - by samoz
So I've read a few magazine articles and the website for Gimpel's PC-lint and Flexelint C/C++ compiler. It's really expensive (at least for me), but it seems like it might have some merit to warrant the cost. So I'm wondering if anyone else has used/bought them and can provide their opinions?

  • Saving the modified contents of a pdf

    - by Anthony Webb
I've got a form that I downloaded, I'd like to prefill some content on the form (this is easy using cfpdfform). Where it gets tricky is I would like to allow the user to modify the contents of that form, and then somehow have those modified contents accessible to me. I didnt build the source PDF so I dont know how to allow the user to "save" the new contents so they can be read. Any ideas on where I might start on this one?

  • Can't get the JSONP workin' with WCF Data Services...

    - by SevilNatas
What am I missing here? It seems from all that I read and watched, exposing JSON from a WCF Data Service should be as easy as adding the '[JSONPSupportBehavior]' directive in front of the Service Class. Problem is VS2010 doesn't recognize 'JSONPSupportBehavior'. Is there a reference I am missing? Seemed like, from alll the articles, it was supportted outta the box. TIA S.

  • Generate lags R

    - by Btibert3
    Hi All, I hope this is basic; just need a nudge in the right direction. I have read in a database table from MS Access into a data frame using RODBC. Here is a basic structure of what I read in: PRODID PROD Year Week QTY SALES INVOICE Here is the structure: str(data) 'data.frame': 8270 obs. of 7 variables: $ PRODID : int 20001 20001 20001 100001 100001 100001 100001 100001 100001 100001 ... $ PROD : Factor w/ 1239 levels "1% 20qt Box",..: 335 335 335 128 128 128 128 128 128 128 ... $ Year : int 2010 2010 2010 2009 2009 2009 2009 2009 2009 2010 ... $ Week : int 12 18 19 14 15 16 17 18 19 9 ... $ QTY : num 1 1 0 135 300 270 300 270 315 315 ... $ SALES : num 15.5 0 -13.9 243 540 ... $ INVOICES: num 1 1 2 5 11 11 10 11 11 12 ... Here are the top few rows: head(data, n=10) PRODID PROD Year Week QTY SALES INVOICES 1 20001 Dolie 12" 2010 12 1 15.46 1 2 20001 Dolie 12" 2010 18 1 0.00 1 3 20001 Dolie 12" 2010 19 0 -13.88 2 4 100001 Cage Free Eggs 2009 14 135 243.00 5 5 100001 Cage Free Eggs 2009 15 300 540.00 11 6 100001 Cage Free Eggs 2009 16 270 486.00 11 7 100001 Cage Free Eggs 2009 17 300 540.00 10 8 100001 Cage Free Eggs 2009 18 270 486.00 11 9 100001 Cage Free Eggs 2009 19 315 567.00 11 10 100001 Cage Free Eggs 2010 9 315 569.25 12 I simply want to generate lags for QTY, SALES, INVOICE for each product but I am not sure where to start. I know R is great with Time Series, but I am not sure where to start. I have two questions: 1- I have the raw invoice data but have aggregated it for reporting purposes. Would it be easier if I didn't aggregate the data? 2- Regardless of aggregation or not, what functions will I need to loop over each product and generate the lags as I need them? In short, I want to loop over a set of records, calculate lags for a product (if possible), append the lags (as they apply) to the current record for each product, and write the results back to a table in my database for my reporting software to use. Any help you can provide will be greatly appreciated! Many thanks in advance, Brock

  • Validating Internationalized URLs

    - by VirtuosiMedia
After reading about the new Arabic URLs, and with more languages to come, how should URL validation be done for internationalized applications? Does the validation change at all and will existing solutions break? Is regex still a good approach? If so, what would that regex look like? If not, what's a good strategy? What are some good resources to read more on the topic?

  • Longest common substring from more than two strings - Python

    - by Nicolas Noël
Hi, I'm looking for a python library for finding the longest common substring from a set of python strings. I'have read that it exist to way to solve this problem : - one using suffix trees - the other using dynamic programming. The method implemented is not important. Otherwise, it is important to have a implementation that can be use for a set of strings and not only two strings Thanks,

  • jQuery for XUL?

    - by Aaron de Windt
I have read on the internet and found out that jQuery works OK on XUL. My questions are: Are there any jQuery plugins that are specially made to work with XUL? Is there any other jQuery-like library that was specially made for XUL? I have not yet tested jQuery on XUL, I'm just asking these questions for curiosity.

  • Using XmlDiffPatch when writing to stream

    - by Mark Smith
    I am trying to use xmldiffpatch when comparing two Xmls(one from a stream, the other from a file) and writing the diff patch to a stream. The first method is to write my xml to a memory stream. The second method loads an xml from a file and creates a stream for the patched file to be written into. The third method actually compares the two files and writes the third. The xmldiff.Compare(originalFile, finalFile, dgw); method takes (XmlReader, XmlReader, XmlWriter). I'm always getting that both files are identical, even though they are not, so I know that I am missing something. Any help is appreciated! public MemoryStream FirstXml() { string[] names = { "John", "Mohammed", "Marc", "Tamara", "joy" }; MemoryStream ms = new MemoryStream(); XmlTextWriter xtw= new XmlTextWriter(ms, Encoding.UTF8); xtw.WriteStartDocument(); xtw.WriteStartElement("root"); foreach (string s in names) { xtw.WriteStartElement(s); xtw.WriteEndElement(); } xtw.WriteEndElement(); xtw.WriteEndDocument(); return ms; } public Stream SecondXml() { XmlReader finalFile =XmlReader.Create(@"c:\......\something.xml"); MemoryStream ms = FirstXml(); XmlReader originalFile = XmlReader.Create(ms); MemoryStream ms2 = new MemoryStream(); XmlTextWriter dgw = new XmlTextWriter(ms2, Encoding.UTF8); GenerateDiffGram(originalFile, finalFile, dgw); return ms2; } public void GenerateDiffGram(XmlReader originalFile, XmlReader finalFile, XmlWriter dgw) { XmlDiff xmldiff = new XmlDiff(); bool bIdentical = xmldiff.Compare(originalFile, finalFile, dgw); dgw.Close(); StreamReader sr = new StreamReader(SecondXml()); string xmlOutput = sr.ReadToEnd(); if(xmlOutput.Contains("</xd:xmldiff>")) {Console.WriteLine("Xml files are not identical"); Console.Read();} else {Console.WriteLine("Xml files are identical");Console.Read();} }

  • git: setting a single tracking remote from a public repo.

    - by Gauthier
I am confused with remote branches. My local repo: (local) ---A---B---C-master My remote repo (called int): (int) ---A---B---C---D---E-master What I want to do is to setup the local repo's master branch to follow that of int. Local repo: (local) ---A---B---C---D---E-master-remotes/int/master So that when int changes to: (int) ---A---B---C---D---E---F-master I can run git pull from the local repo's master and get (local) ---A---B---C---D---E---F-master-remotes/int/master Here's what I have tried: git fetch int gets me all the branches of int into remote branches. This can get messy since int might have hundreds of branches. git fetch int master gets me the commits, but no ref to it, only FETCH_HEAD. No remote branch either. git fetch int master:new_master works but I don't want a new name every time I update, and no remote branch is setup. git pull int master does what I want, but there is still no remote branch setup. I feel that it is ok to do so (that's the best I have now), but I read here and there that with the remote setup it is enough with git pull. git branch --track new_master int/master, as per http://www.gitready.com/beginner/2009/03/09/remote-tracking-branches.html . I get "not a valid object name: int/master". git remote -v does show me that int is defined and points at the correct location (1. worked). What I miss is the int/master branch, which is precisely what I want to get. git fetch in master:int/master. Well, int/master is created, but is no remote. So to summarize, I've tried some stuff with no luck. I would expect 2 to give me the remote branch to master in the repo int. The solution I use now is option 3. I read somewhere that you could change some config file by hand, but isn't that a bit cumbersome? The "cumbersome" way of editting the config file did work: [branch "master"] remote = int merge = master It can be done from command line: $ git config branch.master.remote int $ git config branch.master.merge master Any reason why option 2 above wouldn't do that automatically? Even in that case, git pull fetches all branches from the remote.
