  • how to synchronize database table and directory with php

    hello, I have a directory with files and a database table with what should be the same files. I would like to be able to synchronize the database table with the directory. What would be the most efficient way to do this? or would I realistically only be able to do this in a brute manner? Here's my approach: 1. retrieve all of the files in the directory as array 2. retrieve all of the filenames in the database table as array 3. loop through the file values in the directory array and use in_array() on the database table array to verify the filename is in that array, and if not then start building an array to insert the missing filenames. run db query to add each missing file row to database table 4. loop through directory array and use in_array() on the directory array and anything not found in the directory array will just be deleted from the table. Is there a better way to go about this? or something better for this in php than in_array()?

I've got it to create the database but now I need to load in several .sql files. I had planned to open the file and mysql_query it a line at a time - until I looked at the schema files and realised they aren't just one query per line. So, please.. how do I load an sql file from within PHP? (as phpMyAdmin does with it's import command).

    I didn't feel this rule before, but it seems that a binary tree or any tree (each node can have many children but children cannot point back to any parent), then this data structure can be represented as 1 table in a database, with each row having an ID for itself and a parentID that points back to the parent node. That is in fact the classical Employee - Manager diagram: one boss can have many people under him... and each person under him can have n people under him, etc. This is a tree structure and is represented in database books as a common example as a single table Employee.

    Hello all happy holidays! :) I'm trying to insert comments in my wordpress blog via the wp_insert_comment() function. It's for a plugin I'm trying to make. I have this code in my header for testing. It works every time I refresh the page. $agent = $_SERVER['HTTP_USER_AGENT']; $data = array( 'comment_post_ID' => 256, 'comment_author' => 'Dave', 'comment_author_email' => '[email protected]', 'comment_author_url' => 'http://www.someiste.com', 'comment_content' => 'Lorem ipsum dolor sit amet...', 'comment_author_IP' => '127.3.1.1', 'comment_agent' => $agent, 'comment_date' => date('Y-m-d H:i:s'), 'comment_date_gmt' => date('Y-m-d H:i:s'), 'comment_approved' => 1, ); $comment_id = wp_insert_comment($data); It successfully inserts comments into the database. The problem: Comments don't show via the Disqus comment system. I compared table rows and I noticed that user_agent differs. Normal comments use for example, Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 6.1; en-US; rv... and Disqus comments use Disqus/1.1(2.61):119598902 numbers are different for each comment. Does anyone know how to insert comments with wp_insert_comment() when Disqus is enabled?

    I cannot figure out how to set an estimated maximum price for a collection of records. What I want to avoid is to simply use SQL MAX, because maybe there are records with exorbitant prices. For example, in the "computers-hardware" category of OLX (http://www.olx.com/computers-hardware-cat-240) the filter for maximum price is estimately set to $1400, but sorting by price, the first items are above $10000 Maybe they calculated the average and then estimated some maximum price... what do you think? And what about the stepping? How would you calculate it?

I want to execute following queries. Therefore, I list order_dummy_id by descending and limit 1 so only LATEST ORDER of A BOOK is shown. But my goal is to show other books in that way in one table. I used group by like this ... SELECT * FROM order_dummy WHERE order_id = 1 AND user_id = 1 GROUP BY book_id but it only shows order_dummy_id with ascending result. I have no idea anymore. Looking forward your kindness help!

  • Echoing a pseudo column value after a COUNT

    Hi Gang... Please don't beat me if this is elementary. I searched and found disjointed stuff relating to pseudo columns. Nothing spot on about what I need. Anyway... I have a table with some rows. Each record has a unique ID, an ID that relates to another entity and finally a comment that relates to that last entity. So, I want to COUNT these rows to basically find what entity has the most comments. Instead of me explaining the query, I'll print it SELECT entity_id, COUNT(*) AS amount FROM comments GROUP BY entity_id ORDER BY amount DESC The query does just what I want, but I want to echo the values from that pseudo column, 'amount' Can it be done, or should I use another method like mysql_num_rows?   • How to handle customers with multiple addresses in CakePHP

    I'm putting together a system to track customer orders. Each order will have three addresses; a Main contact address, a billing address and a shipping address. I do not want to have columns in my orders table for the three addresses, I'd like to reference them from a separate table and have some way to enumerate the entry so I can determine if the addressing is main, shipping or billing. Does it make sense to create a column in the address table for AddressType and enumerate that or create another table - AddressTypes - that defines the address enumeration and link to that table? I have found other questions that touch on this topic and that is where I've taken my model. The problem I'm having is taking that into the cakePHP convention. I've been struggling to internalize the direction OneToMany relationships are formed - the way the documentation states feels backwards to me. Any help would be appreciated, Thanks!

  • SQL Databases and table design/organization

    (NOOB disclaimer) I'm working on a system (a type of map), that is accessed mostly via 3 fields: ID (auto incremented), X coordinate, and Y coordinate. As it is right now, i have all data on the map, stored in 1 table. Whenever the map display is loaded it simply queries the database for contents in x and y, and the DB gives the data (other fields in the same entry). If an item on the map is doing something, it has a flag saying its doing something, and then has an ID of the action in another table holding that type of 'actions'. Essentially, for all map data, its stored in 1 table. All actions of a certain type are stored in their own table. I'm a noob, and i'm wondering what the most effective/efficient structure for such a design? (a map that has items, and each item has stats/actions). I'm using PHP atm, using standard SQL queries to get my data. Should i split up the tables so that there are only x number of entries on a table? (coord range limits)? Should it just keep growing and growing? There's a lot of queries to the table... so just tryin to see what is best :/

  • Use Zip to Pre-Populate City/State Form with jQuery AJAX

    I'm running into a problem that I can solve fine by just submitting a form and calling a db to retrieve/echo the information, but AJAX seems to be a bit different for doing this (and is what I need). Earlier in a form process I ask for the zip code like so: <input type="text" maxlength="5" size="5" id="zip" /> Then I have a button to continue, but this button just runs a javascript function that shows the rest of the form. When the rest of the form shows, I want to pre-populate the City input with their city, and pre-populate the State dropdown with their state. I figured I would have to find a way to set city/state to variables, and echo the variables into the form. But I can't figure out how to get/set those variables with AJAX as opposed to a form submit. Here's how I did it without ajax: $zip = mysql_real_escape_string($_POST['zip']); $q = " SELECT city FROM citystatezip WHERE zip = $zip"; $r = mysql_query($q); $row = mysql_fetch_assoc($r); $city = $row['city']; Can anybody help me out with using AJAX to set these variables?     I am developing a Java project using Eclipse. The project uses another project called engine, which I have added in my project build-path.     Could not load file or assembly 'Payflow_dotNET_2.0' or one of its dependencies. The located assembly's manifest definition does not match the assembly reference. (Exception from HRESULT: 0x80131040) I tried to reference the payflow SDK and got this error.But I am no longer trying to reference it. I have removed all references to this dll. and Now I am just trying to get the project to start in VS but I still get this error. I am not trying to add the dll anymore.If i have removed the reference to this, why am I still getting this error? How can I remove anything else that may still be causing my program to look for this file? Thanks!

  • database change after pressing 'X' button

    What i know:- We can use Ajax to change database from javascript. So whenever we press the 'X' button on title bar it calls "onbeforeunload" event. And by this event we can change the database. But in my case, i want to change the status of user only when user click on 'X' button. Not in case of changing the page. As because changing the page is unloading the page. and closing the page is also unloading the page(As much i know). Is there any way to differentiate between closing the page and moving from one page to other page? I want to use it for changing the status of user(i.e. login/logout), whenever he presses cross button. I don't want to set status "logout" when user changes the page. I want to set status "logout" when user 'X' the button. Plese help me.
