• Three ways to upload/post/convert iMovie to YouTube

  For Mac users, iMovie is probably a convenient tool for making, editing their own home movies so as to upload to YouTube for sharing with more people. However, uploading iMovie files to YouTube can't be always a smooth run, I did notice many people complaining about it. This article is delivered for guiding those who are haunted by the nightmare by providing three common ways to upload iMovie files to YouTube. YouTube and iMovie YouTube is the most popular video sharing website for users to upload, share and view videos. It empowers anyone with an Internet connection the ability to upload video clips and share them with friends, family and the world. Users are invited to leave comments, pick favourites, send messages to each other and watch videos sorted into subjects and channels. YouTube accepts videos uploaded in most container formats, including WMV (Windows Media Video), 3GP (Cell Phones), AVI (Windows), MOV (Mac), MP4 (iPod/PSP), FLV (Adobe Flash), MKV (H.264). These include video codecs such as MP4, MPEG and WMV. iMovie is a common video editing software application comes with every Mac for users to edit their own home movies. It imports video footage to the Mac using either the Firewire interface on most MiniDV format digital video cameras, the USB port, or by importing the files from a hard drive where users can edit the video clips, add titles, and add music. Since 1999, eight versions of iMovie have been released by Apple, each with its own functions and characteristic, and each of them deal with videos in a way more or less different. But the most common formats handled with iMovie if specialty discarded as far as to my research are MOV, DV, HDV, MPEG-4.   Hi, There is a couple of hours that I'm trying to set a tableView background image. My controller is a subclass of UITableViewController, and I simply wrote this lines of code in ViewDidLoad method. UIImage *image = [UIImage imageNamed:@"home-portrait-iphone.png"]; UIImageView *imageView = [[UIImageView alloc] initWithImage:image]; self.tableView.backgroundView = imageView; Everything looks great on the simulator, I mean, I see my table and as background view, y can see the image. But when the app is running on the device (ipod touch), I get this error: Program received signal: “SIGABRT”. and the stack says: * -[UITableView setBackgroundView:]: unrecognized selector sent to instance 0x812e00 Terminating app due to uncaught exception 'NSInvalidArgumentException', reason: '** -[UITableView setBackgroundView:]: unrecognized selector sent to instance 0x812e00' and the exception is thrown in the assignment, a mean this line: self.tableView.backgroundView = imageView; any ideas?   Hi everyone. I am using boost 1.45.0 on Ubuntu with Code::Blocks as my IDE, and I can't get basic_regex.hpp to compile. I'm pretty sure I set up boost correctly, because I can compile programs using boost::format without any errors. But I'm getting this annoying error, and I don't know how to get rid of it.   I'm using jQuery to POST an Id to my route, for example: http://localhost:1234/Load/Delete with a POST Parameter Id = 1 I'm only using the default route in Global.asax.cs right now: routes.MapRoute( "Default", "{controller}/{action}/{id}", new { controller = "Home", action = "Index", id = "" } ); When I perform the POST, in my ActionFilter filterContext.RouteData.Values["Id"] is set to the default value of "". Ideally, I'd like it to use the POST Parameter value automatically if the URL comes up with "". I know it is posting properly because I can see the value of "1" in filterContext.HttpContext.Request.Params["Id"]. Is there a way to get RouteData to use a POST parameter as a fall back value?

  In my Google Appengine application I have defined a custom exception InvalidUrlException(Exception) in the module 'gvu'. Somewhere in my code I do: try: results = gvu.article_parser.parse(source_url) except gvu.InvalidUrlException as e: self.redirect('/home?message='+str(e)) ... which works fine in the local GAE development server, but raises <type 'exceptions.SyntaxError'>: invalid syntax (translator.py, line 18) when I upload it. (line 18 is the line starting with 'except') The problem seems to come from the 'as e' part: if I remove it I don't get this exception anymore. However I would like to be able to access the raised exception. Have you ever encountered this issue? Is there an alternative syntax?

  I'm using the spark view engine with my asp.net mvc application. In my aspx pages, I can succesfully use Html.Actionlink, but when I attempt it in spark files, it doesnt show up in intellisense, and when i try to run it anyway, i get: Dynamic view compilation failed. c:\Users\midas\Documents\Visual Studio 2008\Projects\ChurchMVC\ChurchMVC\Views\Home\Index.spark(73,25): error CS1061: 'System.Web.Mvc.HtmlHelper' does not contain a definition for 'ActionLink' and no extension method 'ActionLink' accepting a first argument of type 'System.Web.Mvc.HtmlHelper' could be found (are you missing a using directive or an assembly reference?) I do have system.web.mvc referenced, and I have added in _global.spark. None of that helps. Any ideas?

• Browser won't connect to svn server

  This has been driving me nuts. For some reason, I can't access my svn repository using a browser in this laptop that I'm using right now (firefox & ie) The connection just times out. I'm at home right now and the server is in another room. It connects OK there and it also connects OK in my virtual machine in this same laptop. I'm pretty stumped right now and can't figure out why this is happening. I've also checked the proxies and I'm 100% sure I'm not using any at all. The virtual machine running on this laptop is XP 32bit and this one is a Win7 64 bit. Thanks

• C# best means to store data locally when offline

  I am in the midst of writing a small program (more to experiment with vs 2010 than anything else) Despite being an experiment it has some practical use for our local athletics club. My thought was to access the DB (currently online) to download the current members and store locally on a laptop (this is a MS sql table, used to power the club's website). take the laptop to the event (yes there ARE places that don't have internet coverage), add members to that days race (also a row from a sql table (though no changes would be made to this), record results (new records in 3rd table) Once home, showered and within internet access again, upload/edit the tables as per the race results/member changes etc. So I was thinking i'd do something like write xml files locally with the data, including a field to indicate changes etc? If anyone can point me in a direction i would appreciate it...hell if anyone could tell me if this has a name!!..I'd appreciate it TIA Michael Artz

Environmental ImpactSmart Grid development is picking up speed because of the widespread interest in reducing the negative impact that energy use has on the environment. Smart Grids use technology to drive efficiencies in transmission, distribution, and consumption. As a result, utilities can serve customers’ power needs with fewer generating plants, fewer transmission and distribution assets,and lower overall generation. With the possible exception of wind farm sprawl, landscape preservation is one obvious benefit. And because most generation today results in greenhouse gas emissions, Smart Grids reduce air pollution and the potential for global climate change.Smart Grids also more easily accommodate the technical difficulties of integrating intermittent renewable resources like wind and solar into the grid, providing further greenhouse gas reductions. CostsThe ability to defer the cost of plant and grid expansion is a major benefit to both utilities and customers. Smart Grid business software enables utilities to impose penalties on customers who do not comply with their contracts. Smart Grids also help utilities manage peaks with existing assets by enabling: Real-time asset monitoring and control. • importing pywiiuse to test out

  This is probably a simple problem. But I downloaded the pywiiuse library from here and I also downloaded the examples. However when I try to run one of the examples I end up with import issues. I'm not certain I have everything configured properly to run.   This might be a bit dev-heavy for the site... but here goes. I installed the macports version of sudo. All is well, except for one thing. Using python 2.6 to expand ~ to the user's home directory results in a different output than the version of sudo that comes with Snow Leopard. For example consider the following python code: #expand_home_dir.py import os os.path.expanduser('~') Below are 3 different calls of the code listed above. • Having Problems Getting FreeTTS and JSAPI Working

  I have a simple project idea based off of FreeTTS and the JSAPI (Java Speech API) I've downloaded and unpacked FreeTTS and run their build script. Then tried compiling my code linking in the lib directory into the class path like this: javac -cp /home/travis/Desktop/freetts-1.2/lib HelloUnleashedReader.java Which then compiles to java bytecode just fine. However when I run: java HelloUnleashedReader I get the following error: Exception in thread "main" java.lang.NoClassDefFoundError: javax/speech/EngineModeDesc Any help on this issue would be greatly appreciated as there are many sites around the net discussing problems with getting it to work but not many that discuss their solution.
