• ASP.NET MVC SSL POST Error

  I have a Logon page in a MVC (1.0) application that I am securing with SSL, I have an attribute that inspects the request for the page and redirects to a https uri when it is requested with http. This all works, however when I post the form content i get the following error: The parameters dictionary contains a null entry for parameter 'rememberMe' of non-nullable type 'System.Boolean' for method 'System.Web.Mvc.ActionResult LogOn(System.String, System.String, Boolean, System.String)' in 'DAC.US.Web.Portal.Controllers.AccountController'. To make a parameter optional its type should be either a reference type or a Nullable type. Parameter name: parameters here is the controller code... // // GET: /Account/LogOn [RequiresSSL] public ActionResult LogOn(string ReturnUrl) { if (TempData["Message"] != null) ViewData["Message"] = TempData["Message"]; TempData["Message"] = null; ViewData["ReturnUrl"] = ReturnUrl ?? • ASP.NET MVC Route Contraints with {ID}-{Slug} Format

  I have a route like following, ideally I would like it to match: domain.com/layout/1-slug-is-the-name-of-the-page routes.MapRoute( "Layout", // Route name "layout/{id}-{slug}", // URL with parameters new { controller = "Home", action = "Index", id = @"\d+$" } ); But when I hit the url, I am keep on getting this exception: The parameters dictionary contains a null entry for parameter 'id' of non-nullable type 'System.Int32' for method 'System.Web.Mvc.ActionResult Index(Int32)' in .... The above route will match the following though: domain.com/layout/1-slug or domain.com/layout/1-slug_permalink Seems like the hyphen that separates the ID from the Slug is causing issues.

• Passing data with Rails' link_to helper

  I am implementing a question-and-answer application with Ruby on Rails. I have MVCs for Questions and Answers. In the home view (index.haml), I list the Questions like this: - @questions.each do |q| %tr %td =link_to q.title, q Next to each of those, I want to add a link that will create a new Answer and pass the id of the Question in that row (continued from the above Haml code) : %td #{link_to 'answer me!', new_answer_path, pass q.id here somehow?} I don't know how to properly pass it and then access it in AnswersController. I tried #{link_to 'answer me!', new_answer_path, :question_id => q.id}, but that was just a guess, and I don't know how to access that in AnswersController. I read the Rails API docs, and I know you can add query, too, but I still don't know how to access the value in AnswersController.

• MVC2: "File not found" after view is painted

  This is wierd. First, I'm building a site based on someone else's framework (Piers Lawson: Creating a RESTful Web Service using MVC ), so I'm not entirely sure what's going on under the covers. But when I run it in VS 2010 by pressing F5, it brings up the Home page, and THEN traps an error in Application_Error. The error is "File does not exist" exception. But I have no idea what file it's looking for. Where does flow control go after the View is finished displaying? How can I break to find out what it's looking for?

• OAuth iPhone client, problems with HTTP_AUTHORIZATION

  Hi, I've been trying to implement OAuth in my iPhone app. However I have hit a problem. I have two servers, a local web server which is on my machine at home, I use this for testing. The machine is IIS 7 running PHP 5.08. Everything works fine on this server. However my live (web server) is running Apache and PHP 5.12. The problem is when I try to request a RequestToken the HTTP_AUTHORIZATION variable isn't posted to the web server, so I get an error returned from the server saying 'Invaild Consumer Key'. There is clearly a problem with the way the server is setup (as the code works on my local server). The code I am using is from this walkthrough http://code.google.com/p/oauthconsumer/wiki/UsingOAuthConsumer I have tried dumping the PHP headers and indeed HTTP_AUTHORIZATION is missing. Can anyone tell me how to fix this? (as it's driving me mad :)) Thanks Rich

  Hello i have a login page so once the user enters the correct details he enters into the home page. Now i want to implement 3 things once he clicks the button 'log out' he must be redirected to a page saying" logged out successfully " n even if clicks the back button in the browser, he should not be able to access. if the user leaves the homepage idle for a specific amount of time say 10minutes and then he tries to navigate after 10 mins a msg should display saying "Your Session has been expired login again" if given the url of homepage he shouldnt be able to access unless logged in. • Drupal Custom Form with Filters

  I'm displaying cars on a page created with a view and displays. I want to be able to create a form on the home page to allow people to select the 'make', which will then update the 'models' list based on the 'make' the user selects, 'year' to and from, and 'amount' to and from. What the user selects will of course alter the list of used cars, whether that's on the existing used cars page or a new page. I would be happy to create a custom module if required, just need some direction. Thanks !

  Hi I am using Ajaxy Call to load the partial view. It is working fine in Firefox and IE without in Debug Mode.   I'm creating a notification with something similar to the following: Intent ni = new Intent(this, SomeActivity.class); ni.putExtra("somestring", "somedata"); PendingIntent contentIntent = PendingIntent.getActivity(this, 0, ni, PendingIntent.FLAG_UPDATE_CURRENT|PendingIntent.FLAG_ONE_SHOT); Context context = getApplicationContext(); notification.setLatestEventInfo(context, res.getString(R.string.app_name), text, contentIntent); The key here is the extra data on the Intent for the notification. Once I click on the notification and it brings up SomeActivity, it brings up the activity and the extra data is available. However, if I exit the app, hold the home button until the recent activities list comes up, and choose to open the app again, the extra data is still passed. Is there a way I can make this data get passed only if the app is opened via the Notification, and not from the recent activities list?

  Some of us here(or is it just me?) enjoy programming. Even if we're not being paid for it, and in some cases, even though the end result will not do anything for us. For example, many people do the Project Euler problems just for fun, and in the end nothing was really "accomplished" materially. What is it that makes us enjoy programming? How is programming different from another job? You don't see an accountant going home to do some accounting on their own time just for the pure joy of it. How are we different? (also, if anyone has some ideas on how to tag this, then please do correct it for me.. )

  We have a lot of VBA code in spreadsheets and a lot of time people save them to local drives. When we want to upgrade the spreadsheets we push a new version out to a shared drive but dont have any way of enforcing that people dont use the old versions of the spreadsheets. Is there some best practice here to deploy vba spreadsheets so if someone loads an old version it wont open or will ask you to upgrade. It seems like this must be an issue for any custom solution so i would have through MS would have some solution here. Does microsoft have a standard versioning / deployment solution for this or do i need to come up with some home grown solution (spreadsheet pings a database on startup to check version)

• MVC Site - Ensuring the default entry view is always correct

  I have a MVC site with AD authorization. This is all working fine. I publish the site to the webserver and call the site directly (http://intranet). If I have not logged in for a while (I have an authorised cookie with a 30 minute TTL), I am prompted to log-in and if successful I am redirected to the homeController's index view. This is great and as expected. If I keep the session open (browser open) and browse away from the site, if I then browse back to http://intranet, I am not challenged as I have recently authenticated but the default page is from a different controller and not the home page view. How can I stop this from happening? It cannot be a session setting as this is not a new session and the routes appear correct - they are not beng called at this point anyhow. Please MVC guru's advise....!

• iOS 5 Hanging on ASIHTTPRequests

  So I have an app that runs on iOS 3.2 - 4.x. It uses ASIHTTPRequest to make all the REST API calls. Ever since my team and I upgraded three of our iPhone 4's to iOS 5, The app will hang and show the ActivityIndicator indefinitely. I looked at the server logs and the requests aren't hitting the server. However, if I press the iPhone home button then open the app again, the request will go through and I will receive the data, business as normal. For some reason the requests are never triggered until I reopen the app. Another weird tidbit, the app works in Xcode 4.2 and the iPhone simulator. The app also works on an iPad2 with iOS 5 (the app is iPhone only). Would this be an ASIHTTPRequest issue? Not too sure how to pinpoint the issue since there is no crash and only happens on the phone. Any insight would be much appreciated! Thanks.

• Why wouldn't a flex remoteobject work within a custom component?

  Please enlighten this flex noob. I have a remoteobject within my main.mxml. I can call a function on the service from an init() function on my main.mxml, and my java debugger triggers a breakpoint. When I move the remoteobject declaration and function call into a custom component (that is declared within main.mxml), the remote function on java-side no longer gets called, no breakpoints triggered, no errors, silence. How could this be? No spelling errors, or anything like that. mxml code: &ltmx:RemoteObject id="myService" destination="remoteService" endpoint="$(Application.application.home}/messagebroker/amf" &gt &lt/mx:RemoteObject%gt function call is just 'myService.getlist();' when I move it to a custom component, I import mx.core.Application; so the compiler doesn't yell

  Hello everybody. I am trying to load the contents of a rtf file in the uiwebview. I am successful in loading the contents, but it is unformatted. the fonts are too large and it doesnt have any format. it displays the color of the rtf content, but not the font or size. So what should i do now. is there anyother way to load the rtf and format it????   I'm trying to call a page method belonging to a MVC Controller from another site, by means of: $.ajax({ type: "GET", url: "http://localhost:54953/Home/ola", data: "", contentType: "application/json; charset=utf-8", dataType: "json", success: function(data) { console.log(data.Name); } }); the method code is as follows, really simple, just to test: public ActionResult ola() { return Json(new ActionInfo() { Name = "ola" },JsonRequestBehavior.AllowGet); } I've seen this aproach being suggested here, and I actually like it a lot, should it work... When I run this, firebug gets a 200 OK, but the data received is null. I've tried a lot of different approaches, like having the data in text (wish grants me "(an empty string)" instead of just "null") or returning string in the server method... • ShoutCast over SSL

  So I've gone ahead and set up my ShoutCast server DNAS and set my DSP in Winamp on my host computer. The server listens on port 8000, so per some instructions I installed an output plugin for winamp (Shoutcast DSP) and used 8000 and the password to connect. Server accepts the connection. Now, what the heck do I do now? My host computer is SSL secured and the DNAS server is installed within the secure web directory (if that matters). My desired end result is that I want to listen to my ShoutCast setup at home (host computer) from any computer. I try browsing to my ip address and port 8000 (without using HTTPS) and it comes back with nothing. If I browse with HTTPS://my.server.com:8000, I get Error code: ssl_error_rx_record_too_long) Have I completely missed something, or am I just a total moron? Thanks.

• Msysgit bash is horrendously slow in Windows 7

  I love git and use it on OSX pretty much constantly at home. At work, we use svn on Windows, but want to migrate to git as soon as the tools have fully matured (not just TortoiseGit, but also something akin the really nice Visual Studio integration provided by VisualSVN). But I digress... I recently installed msysgit on my Windows 7 machine, and when using the included version of bash, it is horrendously slow. And not just the git operations; clear takes about five seconds. AAAAH! Has anyone experienced a similar issue?

• Facebook RESTful API require_login() callback

  Hi, I'm trying to authenticate a user through the RESTful API (not Connect) but I can't since the callback system does not work for me. I have a local app that creates the Facebook API object with my key and secret, then calls the Facebook API require_login() method; I am sent to Facebook login, I login, and then I am sent to http://www.facebook.com/login.php?auth_token=<...>, where there's another login with just a field for password (not username), I write it again, and after that I am redirected to normal Facebook home. What am I doing wrong? I have set the callback URL in the Facebook app proprieties. Does it have anything to do with the fact that it's localhost? Thanks!
