  Hi, I am setting the dynamic xaml (I am reading the xaml from the DB) for the content of a tab using the below statement. Tab.Content = XamlReader.Parse(xaml, ctx) After setting the content, if I try getting the children using the VisualTreeHelper, but I am not able to get. How ever I dont have this issue when I construct the xaml statically. Here is the code to reading the xaml.   I needed to build a dynamic filter and I wanted to keep using entities. Because of this reason I wanted to use the PredicateBuilder from albahari. So only the inner predicate was filled. When the predicate was executed I got the following error. The parameter 'f' was not bound in the specified LINQ to Entities query expression. While searching for an answer I found the following page. But this is already implemented in the LINQKit. Does anyone else experienced this error and know how to solve it?

• ASP.Net MVC2 (RTM) breaks response filtering - "Filtering is not allowed"

  I've just done a test run of upgrading a project to ASP.Net MVC 2 (RTM) in anticipation of the full official .Net 4.0 release coming later this month. Our application is using a minimizer for our CSS and javascript. To do so, it is making use of the HttpResponse.Filter property to set a custom filter. With the upgrade, the setter for this property is throwing an HttpException saying "Filtering is not allowed." Looking that the HttpResponse.Filter property in reflector shows this: set { if (!this.UsingHttpWriter) { throw new HttpException(SR.GetString("Filtering_not_allowed")); } ... private bool UsingHttpWriter { get { return ((this._httpWriter != null) && (this._writer == this._httpWriter)); } } Clearly something has changed in the way the HttpResponse is writing to the output stream in MVC2. Does anyone know what the change is, or at least a workaround for this? EDIT: This seems pretty radical. Some further investigation shows that ASP.Net MVC 2 RTM is using a System.Web.Mvc.ViewPage.SwitchWriter as the Output property of an HttpResponse, whereas MVC 1 was using a plain old HttpWriter. That explains why the exception is being thrown. But that doesn't explain why they've chosen to completely break this functionality. This thread seems to indicate that this is just temporary... but this makes me pretty nervous... this is the RTM after all. Any further comments appreciated on this.

• .NET C#: WebBrowser control Navigate() does not load targeted URL

  Hey guys, I'm trying to programmatically load a web page via the WebBrowser control with the intent of testing the page & it's JavaScript functions. Basically, I want to compare the HTML & JavaScript run through this control against a known output to ascertain whether there is a problem. However, I'm having trouble simply creating and navigating the WebBrowser control. The code below is intended to load the HtmlDocument into the WebBrowser.Document property: WebBrowser wb = new WebBrowser(); wb.AllowNavigation = true; wb.Navigate("http://www.google.com/"); When examining the web browser's state via Intellisense after Navigate() runs, the WebBrowser.ReadyState is 'Uninitialized', WebBrowser.Document = null, and it overall appears completely unaffected by my call. On a contextual note, I'm running this control outside of a Windows form object: I do not need to load a window or actually look at the page. Requirements dictate the need to simply execute the page's JavaScript and examine the resultant HTML. Any suggestions are greatly appreciated, thanks!

Specifically this line of c# _context.Send(delegate { receiver.Handle(subject); }, null); This is the vb.net I have so far: _context.Send(New SendOrPostCallback(AddressOf listener.Handle(message)), Nothing) The error I'm getting is listener.Handle(message) <-- AddressOf operand must be the name of a method. I'm sure I'm missing something simple, but after staring at this for 2 days, I'm lost.

  I have got a problem handling data which is almost well-formed XHTML document except for it has multiple DTD declarations in the beginning: <!DOCTYPE html PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD XHTML 1.0 Strict//EN" "http://www.w3.org/TR/xhtml1/DTD/xhtml1-strict.dtd"> <!DOCTYPE HTML PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD HTML 3.2 Final//EN"> <!DOCTYPE HTML PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD HTML 3.2 Final//EN"> <html xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml"> <head> ... </head> <body> ... </body> </html> I need load this data into XDocument object using only the first DTD and ignoring the rest declarations. It is not possible to completely ignore DTD processing because the document may have unusual characters like &acirc; or &euro; etc. The text is retrieved from external source and I have no idea why it comes like this. Obviously my naive attempt to load this document fails with System.Xml.XmlException : Cannot have multiple DTDs: var xmlReaderSettings = new XmlReaderSettings { DtdProcessing = DtdProcessing.Parse XmlResolver = new XmlPreloadedResolver(), ConformanceLevel = ConformanceLevel.Document, }; using (var xmlReader = XmlReader.Create(stream, xmlReaderSettings)) { return XDocument.Load(xmlReader); } What would be the best way to handle this kind of data?

• SSRS 2005 Set SimplePageHeaders on the report instead of the server?

  I have one report that does not export to excel friendly from SSRS 2005. I know I can use <Render> <Extension Name="EXCEL" Type="Microsoft.ReportingServices.Rendering.ExcelRenderer.ExcelRenderer,Microsoft.ReportingServices.ExcelRendering"> <Configuration> <DeviceInfo> <SimplePageHeaders>True</SimplePageHeaders> </DeviceInfo> </Configuration> </Extension> </Render> in the rsreportserver.config, but I am not the only person with reports on this machine. I also found that you can pass &rc:SimplePageHeaders=True in the url to export the report programatically. I tried adding the &rc:SimplePageHeaders=True to the end of the url when navigating to the report manager, but when I select excel from the dropdown and click export the headers are still exported. I even tried setting the rc:Command=Render and rc:Format=EXCEL in the url too without any luck. Is there a way to do what I am trying to do? note: I am wanting to render the report on the built in report manager and use the build in export to excel dropdown, not in an app or website.

• Suppress Null Value Types from Being Emitted by XmlSerializer

  Please consider the following Amount value type property which is marked as a nullable XmlElement: [XmlElement(IsNullable=true)] public double? Amount { get ; set ; } When a nullable value type is set to null, the C# XmlSerializer result looks like the following: <amount xsi:nil="true" /> Rather than emitting this element, I would like the XmlSerializer to suppress the element completely. Why? We're using Authorize.NET for online payments and Authorize.NET rejects the request if this null element exists. The current solution/workaround is to not serialize the Amount value type property at all. Instead we have created a complementary property, SerializableAmount, which is based on Amount and is serialized instead. Since SerializableAmount is of type String, which like reference types are suppressed by the XmlSerializer if null by default, everything works great. /// <summary> /// Gets or sets the amount. /// </summary> [XmlIgnore] public double? I think there must be a reason , otherwise I can't understand why an algorithm older than half a center ,and have all coincident in the such little detail.

• How to programmatically show & hide BalloonPopupExtender?

  I have a page that will be having few buttons that will redirect user to certain pages that required them to login before to proceed to the page. I would like to have something like, when user click on the button that required login and if user is not logged in prior to the click, a tooltip will show up beside the 'User ID' textbox to inform user to login in order to proceed. So, I implemented the jQuery Tooltipster in the page to show the tooltip message. I'm having problem on IE8 in Windows XP where the first click on the button, the tooltip would show up, but the second click it wouldn't then the third click, it shows up again and then the fourth click, it wouldn't! But for IE8 in Windows 7, IE9 & IE10, they have no such problem. Any idea how to fix this? The 'imgBtnKISS' & 'lnkBtnKISS' buttons are located in a content page but the tooltip and the 'User ID' textbox are in a master page. • CultureInfo on a IValueConverter implementation

  When a ValueConverter is used as part of a binding, one of the parameters to the Convert function is a System.Globalization.CultureInfo object. Can anyone tell me where this culture object gets its info from? I have some code that formats a date based on that culture. When i access my silverlight control which is hosted on my machine, it formats the date correctly (using the d/MM/yyyy format, which is set as the short date format on my machine). When i access the same control hosted on a different server (from my client machine), the date is being formatted as MM/dd/yyyy hh:mm:ss - which is totally wrong. Coincidentally the regional settings on the server are set to the same as my client machine.   I've little experience with advanced OO practices, and I want to design this properly as an exercise. I'm thinking of implementing the following, and I'm asking if I'm going about this the right way. I have a class PImage that holds the raw data and some information I need for an image file. The trivial/inelegant solution would be to have a lot of messy control flow that identifies the type of image file (.gif, .jpg, .png, etc) and then parse the header accordingly. Instead of using vector<char> data_, I was thinking of having PImage use a class, RawImageStream data_ that inherits from vector<char>. Each type of file I plan to support would then inherit from RawImageStream, e.g. RawGifStream, RawPngStream. Each RawXYZStream would encapsulate the respective header-parsing functions, and PImage would only have to do something like height_ = data_.getHeight();. Am I thinking this through correctly? How would I create the proper RawImageStream subclass for data_ to be in the PImage ctor? Is this where I could use an object factory? Anything I'm forgetting?

I recently updated the project from .NET 1.1 to .NET 3.5 using the Visual Studio 2008 migrator and am now getting an error that I had never received before. • How to get friendly device name from DEV_BROADCAST_DEVICEINTERFACE and Device Instance ID

  I've registered a window with RegisterDeviceNotification and can successfully recieve DEV_BROADCAST_DEVICEINTERFACE messages. However, the dbcc_name field in the returned struct is always empty. Should this be working? Or even better... Is there an alternative way to get the name of a device upon connection?   I'm trying to code for a Point Of Sale system which allows for a "Cash Drawer" attachment. Code is provided in the manual for opening the cash drawer (in C++ using IOCTL). Since I am coding in C# .NET, is it possible to perform something similar from within C# or will I have to write some unmanaged code? Am I able to get a handle to "\\.\ADVANSYS" from within C#? Do I need to use DLLImport? The web service is running on Glassfish and is soap 1.1, I've tried using all the packaged wcf bindings but have not been able to get them to work. I started down the path of using a MessageInspector, and wrote one but then realized there must be a better way, surely WCF provides some way to insert saml 2.0 assertions. I've made the most progress writing a custom binding - i've been able to get the timestamp and signature nodes in the soap header, but cannot for the life of me figure out the saml assertion. • UIView drawRect: when you draw a line, the rect area will be clear so the previous drawing is gone

  It is quite hard to tell so I upload an image to show my problem: http://i42.tinypic.com/2eezamo.jpg Basically in drawRect, I will draw the line from touchesMoved as finger touches and I will call "needsDisplayInRect" for redraw. But I found that the first line is done, the second line will clear the rect part, so some previouse drawing is gone.   I was working with a friend on a project, and he edited a bunch of files that shouldn't have been edited. Somehow I merged his work into mine, either when I pulled it, or when I tried to just pick the specific files out that I wanted. I've been looking and playing for a long time, trying to figure out how to remove the commits that contain the edits to those files, it seems to be a toss up between revert and rebase, and there are no straightforward examples, and the docs assume I know more than I do.
