• Android: HttpURLConnection not working properly

  I'm trying to get the cookies from a website after sending user credentials through a POST Request an it seems that it doesn't work in android this way. ¿Am I doing something bad?. Please help. I've searched here in different posts but there's no useful answer. It's curious that this run in a desktop Java implementation it works perfect but it crashes in Android platform. And it is exactly the same code, specifically when calling HttpURLConnection.getHeaderFields(), it also happens with other member methods. It's a simple code and I don't know why the hell isn't working. • Java Applet Deployment, ClassNotFoundException (primary class)

  This is driving me up the wall. I have checked and rechecked spelling and paths. I have tried just about every combination of paths, including relative, absolute, and full http paths. I continue to get the following error when trying to load a Java applet: java.lang.ClassNotFoundException: AppletClient.class at sun.plugin2.applet.Applet2ClassLoader.findClass(Unknown Source) at java.lang.ClassLoader.loadClass(Unknown Source) at java.lang.ClassLoader.loadClass(Unknown Source) at sun.plugin2.applet.Plugin2ClassLoader.loadCode(Unknown Source) at sun.plugin2.applet.Plugin2Manager.createApplet(Unknown Source) at sun.plugin2.applet.Plugin2Manager$AppletExecutionRunnable.run(Unknown Source) at java.lang.Thread.run(Unknown Source) Exception: java.lang.ClassNotFoundException: AppletClient.class The HTML used to load the applet: <applet width="100" height="100" archive="applet/myapplet.jar, applet/applet_dependency.jar" code="AppletClient.class"> <param value="blahblah" name="username"> <param value="false" name="codebase_lookup"> </applet> The applet is in a relative directory, "applet", from the path of the current page. I have unzipped the jar file and can see AppletClient.class. Also, in the source of the project, it is spelled that way (casing and all). I have tried with/without the parameters. I have changed the names of the archive jars in the applet include tag just to see if I get a different error for bad file names (same error). I have manually done GETs on the jars to make sure the server is responding to the requests (it is). I have tried with and without the codebase tag, with all different varieties of paths (start getting bad "magic number" errors on those). I know that this error sometimes pops up when a dependency fails to load, so it can be misleading, but all dependencies are present, accounted for, and are fetchable via manual GETs. Between each and every attempt I always clear my cache in FireFox. These problems are reproduced in IE8 and Chrome as well. Per my Java Console from the browser, I am running Java Plug-in 1.6.0_20. This is from the same machine that I develop the applet on, which runs fine via Eclipse. Finally, I kicked on Fiddler2, and I don't see a single request for the jar files anywhere The host site is running from my Visual Studio debugger, so it's running on localhost. But I see the requests for all the other resources on Fiddler. Just... no Jars. ANYWHERE. I clear the log, cleared my browser cache, and did a ctrl-R refresh. And still, not a single Jar request on the Fiddler log. I even did a delayed write (with JS) of the applet tag after the page loaded, once all the Fiddler activity slowed down. The element gets written to the document (and I can see the 100x100 Java error window), but not a single request shows up on Fiddler. Any suggestions, before I go crawl into the corner and cry myself to sleep? • MySQL: Creating table with FK error (errno 150)

  I've tried searching on this error and nothing I've found helps me, so I apologize in advance if this is a duplicate and I'm just too dumb to find it. I've created a model with MySQL Workbench and am now attempting to install it to a mysql server. Using File Export Forward Engineer SQL CREATE Script... it outputs a nice big file for me, with all the settings I ask for. I switch over to MySQL GUI Tools (the Query Browser specifically) and load up this script (note that I'm going form one official MySQL tool to another). However, when I try to actually execute this file, I get the same error over and over SQLSTATE[HY000]: General error: 1005 Can't create table './srs_dev/location.frm' (errno: 150) "OK", I say to myself, something is wrong with the location table. So I check out the definition in the output file. So I start to Google this issue and find all kinds of accounts that talk about an error with InnoDB style tables that fail with foreign keys, and the fix is to add "SET FOREIGN_KEY_CHECKS=0;" to the SQL script. Well, as you can see, that's already part of the file that MySQL Workbench spat out. So, my question is then, why is this not working when I'm doing what I think I'm supposed to be doing? In the remaining data, all the text starting from word SubNetwork upto BtsSiteMgr= must also go. Along with the headers and the dashes. • Add options to select box without Internet Explorer closing the box?

  Hi, I'm trying to build a web page with a number of drop-down select boxes that load their options asynchronously when the box is first opened. This works very well under Firefox, but not under Internet Explorer. Below is a small example of what I'm trying to achieve. Basically, there is a select box (with the id "selectBox"), which contains just one option ("Any"). So that's exactly what Firefox does, which is great. However, in Internet Explorer, as soon as the new option is added in "4" the browser closes the select box. The select box does contain the correct options, but the box is closed, requiring the user to click to re-open it. So, does anyone have any suggestions for how I can load the select control's options asynchronously without IE closing the drop-down box? I know that I can load the list before the box is even clicked, but the real form I'm developing contains many such select boxes, which are all interrelated, so it will be much better for both the client and server if I can load each set of options only when needed. Also, if the results are loaded synchronously, before the select box's onmousedown handler completes, then IE will show the full list as expected - however, synchronous loading is a bad idea here, since it will completely "lock" the browser while the network requests are taking place. Finally, I've also tried using IE's click() method to open the select box once the new options have been added, but that does not re-open the select box. But I got the following error "The LijosWindowsService service on Local Computer started and then stopped. Some services stop automatically if they have no work to do, for example, the Performance Logs and Alerts service" I went to the event viewer and got the following "Service cannot be started. System.InvalidOperationException: Service 'Lijo.Samples.WeatherService' has zero application (non-infrastructure) endpoints. This might be because no configuration file was found for your application, or because no service element matching the service name could be found in the configuration file, or because no endpoints were defined in the service element." • User Getting Logged Out After Making First Comment

  Hello, I am using a login system that works well. I am also using a comment system. The comment function does not show up unless the user is logged in (as shown in commentformonoff.php below). When a user makes a comment, the info is passed from the function "show_commentbox" to the file comments2a.php. Then, the info is passed to the file comments2.php. When the site is first pulled up on a browser, after logging in and making a comment, the user is logged out. After logging in a second time during the same browser session, the user is no longer logged out after making a comment. How can I keep the user logged in after making the first comment? • jQuery hold form submit until "continue" button pressed

  I am trying to submit a form, which I have had working, but have now modified it to include a modal jQuery UI box, so that it won't submit until the user presses "continue". I've had various problems with this, including getting the form to hold until that button is pressed, but I think I have found a solution to that, but implementing it, I am getting a SyntaxError which I can't find the source of. With the help of kevin B managed to find the answer was the form was submitting, but the returned JSON response wasn't quite formatted right. The response was that the form wasn't being submitted, so that problem is still occurring. So updated the code with the provided feedback, now need to find out why the form isnt submitting. I know its something to do with the 2nd function isnt recognising the submit button has been pressed, so need to know how to submit that form data without the form needing to be submitted again. • How can I disable 'output escaping' in minidom

  I'm trying to build an xml document from scratch using xml.dom.minidom. Everything was going well until I tried to make a text node with a ® (Registered Trademark) symbol in. My objective is for when I finally hit print mydoc.toxml() this particular node will actually contain a ® symbol. First I tried: import xml.dom.minidom as mdom data = '®' which gives the rather obvious error of: File "C:\src\python\HTMLGen\test2.py", line 3 SyntaxError: Non-ASCII character '\xae' in file C:\src\python\HTMLGen\test2.py on line 3, but no encoding declared; see http://www.python.or g/peps/pep-0263.html for details I have of course also tried changing the encoding of my python script to 'utf-8' using the opening line comment method, but this didn't help. So I thought import xml.dom.minidom as mdom data = '&#174;' #Both accepted xml encodings for registered trademark data = '&reg;' text = mdom.Text() text.data = data print data print text.toxml() But because when I print text.toxml(), the ampersands are being escaped, I get this output: &reg; &amp;reg; My question is, does anybody know of a way that I can force the ampersands not to be escaped in the output, so that I can have my special character reference carry through to the XML document? Basically, for this node, I want print text.toxml() to produce output of &reg; or &#174; in a happy and cooperative way! EDIT 1: By the way, if minidom actually doesn't have this capacity, I am perfectly happy using another module that you can recommend which does. EDIT 2: As Hugh suggested, I tried using data = u'®' (while also using data # -*- coding: utf-8 -*- Python source tags). This almost helped in the sense that it actually caused the ® symbol itself to be outputted to my xml. This is actually not the result I am looking for. As you may have guessed by now (and perhaps I should have specified earlier) this xml document happens to be an HTML page, which needs to work in a browser. So having ® in the document ends up causing rubbish in the browser (® to be precise!). I also tried: data = unichr(174) text.data = data.encode('ascii','xmlcharrefreplace') print text.toxml() But of course this lead to the same origional problem where all that happens is the ampersand gets escaped by .toxml(). My ideal scenario would be some way of escaping the ampersand so that the XML printing function won't "escape" it on my behalf for the document (in other words, achieving my original goal of having &reg; or &#174; appear in the document). Seems like soon I'm going to have to resort to regular expressions! EDIT 2a: Or perhaps not. Seems like getting my html meta information correct <META http-equiv="Content-Type" Content="text/html; charset=UTF-8"> could help, but I'm not sure yet how this fits in with the xml structure...

• reloading page while an ajax request in progress gives empty response and status as zero

  Hi, Browser is firefox 3.0.10 I am requesting a page using ajax. The response is in progress may be in readyState less than 4. In this mean time i am trying to reload the page. What happens is the request ends giving an empty response. I used alert to find what string has been given as response text. I assume that by this time the ready state 4 is reached. why it is empty string. when i alert the xmlhttpobject.status it displayed 0. when i alert the xmlhttpobject.statusText an exception occurs stating that NOT AVAILABLE. when i read in the document http://www.devx.com/webdev/Article/33024/0/page/2 it said for 3 and 4 status and statusText are available but when i tested only status is available but not satausText Here is a sample code. consider that i have requested a page and my callback function is as follows function cb(rt) { if(rt.readyState==4) { alert(rt.status); alert(rt.statusText); // which throws an exception } } and my server side script is as follows sleep(30); //flushing little drop down code besides these i noticed the following... assume again i am requesting the above script using ajax. now there will be an idle time till 30 seconds is over before that 30 seconds i press refresh. i got xmlhttpobject.status as 0 but still the browser did not reload the page untill that 30 seconds. WHY? so what is happening when i refresh a page before an ajax request is complete is the status value is set to zero and the ready state is set to 4 but the page still waits for the response from the server to end... what is happening... THE REASON FOR ME TO FACE SOME THING LIKE THIS IS AS FOLLOWS. when ever i do an ajax request ... if the process succeeded like inserting some thing or deleting something i popup a div stating that updated successfully and i will reload the page. but if there is any error then i do not reload the page instead i just alert that unable to process this request. what happens if the user reloads the page before any of this request is complete is i get an empty response which in my calculation is there is a server error. so i was debugging the ajax response to filter out that the connection has been interrupted because the user had pressed reload. so in this time i don't want to display unable to process this request when the user reloads the page before the request has been complete. oh... a long story. IT IS A LONG DESCRIPTION SO THAT I CAN MAKE EXPERTS UNDERSTAND MY DOUBT. so what i want form the above. any type of answer would clear my mind. or i would like to say all type of answers.   I'm having an issue running unit tests for authorization in a Pylons app. It appears as though certain cookies set in the test case may not be correctly written or parsed. Cookies work fine when hitting the app with a browser.
