• Custom HTTP Request headers in HTML

  Does anyone know if its possible to send out custom http REQUEST headers in HTML without having to use javascript (no xhr wrapper). Would it be possible to define them as meta tags within the head? Or may they be defined in the form somewhere? <meta http-equip="x-something-custom" name="custom value" /> this works, however, this is a RESPONSE header. What I need to set a REQUEST header. I'm not looking for setting hidden fields in forms, but actual raw http header manipulation with html tags. Is this possible?

• STL Static-Const Member Definitions

  How does the following work? #include <limits> int main() { const int* const foo = &std::numeric_limits<int> ::digits; } I was under the impression that in order to take an address of a static const-ant member we had to physically define it in some translation unit in order to please the linker. That said, after looking at the preprocessed code for this TU, I couldn't find an external definition for the digits member (or any other relevant members). I tested this on two compilers (VC++ 10 and g++ 4.2.4) and got identical results (i.e., it works). Does the linker auto-magically link against an object file where this stuff is defined, or am I missing something obvious here?

• How do i return a StringWriter When I cant Clone it?

  My code looks like the below. Obviously i cant write 'ok' because the object has been disposed. I cant do return sw.Clone() bc clone doesnt exist. If i dont use a using then at any point between = new and return (like iterating and writing to the object as my example doesnt do) can have an exception and thus not disposing the object. Am i to define sw outside of a try block and check if its null then dispose in a catch block? That seems like a bit of excessive work. • Suggestion for R/LaTeX table creation package

  I've been using xtable package for a long time, and looking forward to writting my first package in R... so I reckon that if I have some "cool" idea that's worth carying out, there's a great chance that somebody got there before me... =) I'm interested in functions/packages specialized for LaTeX table creation (through R, of course). I bumped on quantreg package which has latex.table function. Any suggestion for similar function(s)/package(s)? P.S. I'm thinking about building a webapp in which users can define their own presets/templates of tables, choose style, statistics, etc. It's an early thought, though... =)

• Help! How to get the event handler with IE Dom interfaces?

  Hey Gurus, I am working to use IE Dom interface to automate IE page access. I am trying to get all event handlers defined in a page. I am using IHTMLElement object now for this purpose. If the html page defines "onclick=xxx", element.onclick returns the click handler. However, if an event handler is defined in javascript, element.onclick simply returns NULL. What's the right way to get the event handler then?   I'm trying to refactor a class and set of subclasses where the M type does extend anything, even though we know it has to be a subclass of a certain type. That type is parametrized and I would like its parametrized types to be available to subclasses that already have values for M. Is there any way to define this class without having to include the redundant K and V generic types in the parameter list. I'd like to be able to have the compiler infer them from whatever M is mapped to by subclasses. public abstract class NewParametrized<K, V, M extends SomeParametrized<K, V>> { public void someMethodThatTakesKAndV(K k1, V v1) { } } In other words, I'd like the class declaration to look something like: public class NewParametrized<M extends SomeParametrized<K, V>> { And K and V's types would be inferred from the definition of M.

• System context menu Icon not transparent like WinRAR

  I added a icon at the system context menu(the popped up menu when we right mouse click on any file/foler). But the icon is not transparent(in xp its not notice able, but in vista/win7 it is clearly visible) there is a white background beneath the icon. But WinRAR or TortoiseSVN icons don't have any white background, they are transparent. It also create ISimpleDOMNode_i.c and ISimpleDOMDocument_i.c but there is no tlb file what is the wrong ?

  I'm designing an hierarchical distributed system (every node has zero or more "master" nodes to which it propagates its current data). The data gets continuously updated and I'd like to guarantee that at least N nodes have almost-current data at any given time. I do not need complete consistency, only eventual consistency (t.i. for any time instant, the current snapshot of data should eventually appear on at least N nodes. It is tricky to define the term "current" here, but still). Nodes may fail and go back up at any moment, and there is no single "central" node. O overflowers! • What is the relationship between IRimTable and PersistenceStore?

  The BlackBerry Desktop API has the interface IRimTable which apparently maps an "application database" on a BlackBerry device to a virtual structure (i.e, IRimTable has IRimRecords, each of which has IRimField) that developer can browse the handheld device data when it is connected to a desktop computer. Meanwhile, applications in the handheld device can store its data in PersistenceStore databases. The point where I'm stuck is the PersistenceStore API doesn't define any Table or Records or Fields. Does anybody knows what is the relationship between these two classes? And how does the mapping work (if at all) ?

  I'm working on a Java EE application, primarily JAX-RS with a JSF admin console, that uses CDI/Weld for dependency injection with @ApplicationScoped objects. Minor debugging issues aside, CDI has worked beautifully for this project. Now I need some very coarse-grained control over CDI-injected object lifecycles. I need the ability to: Remove an injected object from the application context, or Destroy/delete/clear/reset/remove the entire application context, or Define my own @ScopeType and implementing Context in which I could provide methods to perform one of the two above tasks. I'm fully aware that this is across, if not against, the grain of CDI and dependency injection in general. I just want to know Is this remotely possible? If yes, what is the easiest/simplest/quickest/foolproofiest way to get the job done?

Use a fold, map, and take .. replicate [5,1,3,2,8,1,2] output: [5,5,5,5,5,1,3,3,3,2,2,8,8,8,8,8,8,8,8,1,2,2] I've figure this out using List comprehension and recursion: replicate2 [] = [] replicate2 (n:nn) = take n(repeat n) ++ replicate2 nn but how would you use fold and map to do this? so far I have: replicate n = map (foldl1 (take n(repeat n)) n) n which is obviously wrong, but I think I am close.. so any help would be nice, THANKS!

• Can I "inherit" a delegate? Looking for ways to combine Moq and MSpec without conflicts around It...

  I have started to use MSpec for BDD, and since long ago I use Moq as my mocking framework. However, they both define It, which means I can't have using Moq and using Machine.Specifications in the same code file without having to specify the namespace explicitly each time I use It. Anyone who's used MSpec knows this isn't really an option. I googled for solutions to this problem, and this blogger mentions having forked MSpec for himself, and implemented paralell support for Given, When, Then. I'd like to do this, but I can't figure out how to declare for example Given without having to go through the entire framework looking for references to Establish, and changing code there to match that I want either to be OK. For reference, the Establish, Because and It are declared in the following way: public delegate void Establish(); public delegate void Because(); public delegate void It(); What I need is to somehow declare Given, so that everywhere the code looks for an Establish, Given is also OK.

  I am confused :) I'm using the p18n component in cakephp found here: http://www.palivoda.eu/2008/04/i18n-in-cakephp-12-database-content-translation-part-2/ This component requires me to set in core.php the following constant: define("DEFAULT_LANGUAGE", 'eng') However when this is set I cannot change the language using: Configure::write('Config.language', 'eng'); At the moment, into my knowledge, the only way to change the locale of my static content is the use of the Configure::write. But for the dynamic content to change through the use of the p28n component I must have the DEFINE_LANGUAGE constant set to a value. This is all very confusing. Any help will be much appreciated.

Now, the script would install an application on Machine_B from Machine_A, it works fine as long as you have the msi file on the local drive of the Target machine (Machine_B, in this case). • How many instructions to access pointer in C?

  Hi All, I am trying to figure out how many clock cycles or total instructions it takes to access a pointer in C. I dont think I know how to figure out for example, p-x = d-a + f-b i would assume two loads per pointer, just guessing that there would be a load for the pointer, and a load for the value. So in this operations, the pointer resolution would be a much larger factor than the actual addition, as far as trying to speed this code up, right? This may depend on the compiler and architecture implemented, but am I on the right track? I have seen some code where each value used in say, 3 additions, came from a f2->sum = p1->p2->p3->x + p1->p2->p3->a + p1->p2->p3->m type of structure, and I am trying to define how bad this is

  While reading a book about JavaScript I stumbled across an example: var names = new Array("Paul","Catherine","Steve"); var ages = new Array(31,29,34); var concatArray; concatArray = names.concat(ages); My question is, why doesn't the variable concatArray need to be define as a new Array() in order to store the concatenated data for both arrays name and ages , but when I try to treat the concatArray as an array by adding another line of code "document.write(concatArray[0])", it works just like an array and shows me the data stored in the first element. I just wonder why I'm not declaring the concatArray as a new array, yet it still works as one.

  Hi, I have a stored procedure that returns a result with 250!!! columns. But I only need 3 out of the 250. I want to call the SP and put only the 3 column values in a temp table. I don't want to define a temp table with 250 columns! • Access Rules created by WSAT are not enforced

  Hi, I'm trying to implement roles in my site. There are several projects in the solution, one of which is a web application. In that web application, I'm trying to use WSAT to create three roles. There are many folders for the application. I've used WSAT to define role based access rules for each folder. However, when I debug and navigate to those pages, they do not redirect to a login and show me the protected page. There are web.config files in each folder. Why would the system not enforce these rules? My web.config file has: I've tested the connections in WSAT and they work. Any ideas?

My needs are: Able to put a PDF/EPS/... as a background Absolute positioning Able to define tables, lists Able to rotate blocks Reasonably easy syntax (will be used to automatically generate many similar looking documents) Easily usable from Python Free or very cheap In essence I'm looking for the tool X that is to OODraw/CorelDraw/... as LaTeX is to OOWrite/MS Word. I've looked at webkit2pdf and a headless OODraw, but both seem a bit of an overkill. XML-FO has some limitations such as not being able to predict how many pages your document spans. Reportlab is pricey. Any ideas? Thanks!
