  • Directly embedding JPEGs in an HTML file

    I can embed a mime encoded JPEG in an html page by saving the page from IE using the File-SaveAs menu and selecting (Web Archive, single file (*.mht)). Renaming this .mht file with .eml enables Outlook to open it and send an HTML email. My questions are: How can I embed JPEG images directly in HTML pages (no external files). Are the images just mime encoded inline in the HTML? It appears that this is IE specific. Do any other browsers support this functionality?

  • Drupal 6: Printing Unadulterated Primary Links and all children...

    How in the WORLD is possible? I swear, I've read the equivalent of 3 encyclopedias to no avail. I've tried solutions within regions, page.tpl.php and blocks. None of them give me what I need... and I know there are so many other people that need this too! I've come to the conclusion that I want to print out the menu within my page.tpl.php ... so no block solutions, please. I want to be able to loop through the primary menu links (AND children) and rewrite the output so that there's no default Drupal class tagging. However, no children are being printed. How would I extend this code so that all children are a part of the list? NOTE: I don't want the children to only appear on their parent page, they must be present all the time. Otherwise, the drop-down menu I have planned is useless. I sincerely thank you in advance to lessening my gargantuan headache!

  • SQL Server Agent 2005 job runs but no output

    Essentially I have a job which runs in BIDS and as as a stand lone package and while it runs under the SQL Server Agent it doesn't complete properly (no error messages though). The job steps are: 1) Delete all rows from table; 2) Use For each loop to fill up table from Excel spreasheets; 3) Clean up table. I've tried this [MS page][1] (steps 1 & 2), didn't see any need to start changing from Server side security. Also SQLServerCentral.com for [this page][2], no resolution. How can I get error logging or a fix? Note I've reposted this from Server Fault as it's one of those questions that's not pure admin or programming. I have logged in as the proxy account I'm running this under, and the job runs stand alone but complains that the Excel tables are empty?

So before echoing $pageURL I add the following line: $pageUrl = preg_replace("&type=main", "", $pageURL); But it still returns the full url including type=main. How can I get rid of that from the url?

  • Client-side or server-side processing?

    So, I'm new to dynamic web design (my sites have been mostly static with some PHP), and I'm trying to learn the latest technologies in web development (which seems to be AJAX), and I was wondering, if you're transferring a lot of data, is it better to construct the page on the server and "push" it to the user, or is it better to "pull" the data needed and create the HTML around it on the clientside using JavaScript? More specifically, I'm using CodeIgniter as my PHP framework, and jQuery for JavaScript, and if I wanted to display a table of data to the user (dynamically), would it be better to format the HTML using CodeIgniter (create the tables, add CSS classes to elements, etc..), or would it be better to just serve the raw data using JSON and then build it into a table with jQuery? My intuition says to do it clientside, as it would save bandwidth and the page would probably load quicker with the new JavaScript optimizations all these browsers have now, however, then the site would break for someone not using JavaScript...     I notice with ASP.NET if the server side control TextBox is used with out autopostback it will not submit (or postback) the form when typed text ends with enter, which is different from the behavior for plain old HTML pages. Fine, I can set autopostback to get the behavior I want after the enter key. However, autopostback will also cause submit (or postback) when the typed text does not end with enter but focus has changed (i.e. with tab or mouse click), which again is different from plain old HTML pages. How can I get an ASP.NET page to behave the same as a plain old HTML page with respect to text input regardless of whether enter key or change of focus occurs?

    How can I open a web-page and receive its cookies using PHP? The motivation: I am trying to use feed43 to create an RSS feed from the non-RSS-enabled HighLearn website (remote learning website). I found the web-page that contains the feed contents I need to parse, however, it requires to login first. Luckily, logging in can be done via a GET request so it's as easy as fopen()ing "http://highlearn.website/login_page.asp?userID=foo&password=bar" for example. But I still need to get the cookies generated when I logged in, pass the cookies to the real client (using setcookie() maybe?) and then redirect.

  • ASP.NET and SQL server with huge data sets

    I am developing a web application in ASP.NET and on one page I am using a ListView with paging. As a test I populated the table it draws from with 6 million rows. The table and a schema-bound view based off it have all the necessary indexes and executing the query in SQL Server Management Studio with SELECT TOP 5 returned in < 1 second as expected. But on the ASP.NET page, with the same query, it seems to be selecting all 6 million rows without any limit. Shouldn't the paging control limit the query to return only N rows rather than the entire data set? How can I use these ASP.NET controls to handle huge data sets with millions of records? Does SELECT [columns] FROM [tablename] quite literally mean that for the ListView, and it doesn't actually inject a TOP <n> and does all the pagination at the application level rather than the database level?

By clicking that button device camera should open(device mainly iPad and iPhone) and after capturing the image lets see it stored in a folder named as "capture" in your device. Then that captured image should replace that default image. I want to use Phonegap compulsorily. I have seen phone gap APIs for camera but I don't get it how to use it exactly. I am using MAC and Xcode for development.

    Hello, Actually im doing a home page that only have an action called Index() that returns the view Index.ascx. This index page will be composed by lastest news and lastest registered users, i think that create two partial views is the best idea (this way i could use it in other views). for other hand i have a data access class that calls to database for get stuff (get last news, get last users, etc...) My question is simple, should i call to the this data access class in the Index() action of my HomeController, and add to the ViewData the data obtained? I think that this index() action shouldnt be the responsable of passing this data to the partial views, right? Could you give me a hand? im messing too much? ;-) Thanks in advance. Best Regards.   • PHP & MySQLi timeout

    Whenever I try to create a mysqli object, as in; $mysqli = new mysqli(host, user, pass, table); ...the page just loads for around a minute, then stops, showing all the content of the page up until that line. info() says that MySQLi (and MySQL if that matters) are enabled, and I can access the MySQL CLI. I'm also working on a local machine, not a remote server. I feel like I've missed something obvious. Can anyone shed some light on it? Edit: just for clarification, I am actually putting real values into the mysqli constructor :)

    I was looking at the amazon website and was wondering how one of the feature would have been implemented. The feature : what customers buy after viewing a particular item. If i were to develop such a feature i would probably generate a session id for each user session and store the session id-page id combination in a log file. and if a book is bought set a separate flag for the session id-page id. A separate program can then be run on the log file periodically, to identify the groups that were bought together/viewed together and that information can be stored in a persistent file. This is ofcourse a simple solution without taking into consideration the distributed nature of the servers - but would this suffice or can you help me identify a better design.

Later I linked it to aspx page like a external js file. Now its giving error "Microsoft JScript runtime error: Object required". I'm unable to know where I went wrong.

  • What are the weaknesses of this user authentication method?

    I'm developing my own PHP framework. It seems all the security articles I have read use vastly different methods for user authentication than I do so I could use some help in finding security holes. Some information that might be useful before I start. I use mod_rewrite for my MVC url's. Passwords are sha1 and md5 encrypted with 24 character salt unique to each user. mysql_real_escape_string and/or variable typecasting on everything going in, and htmlspecialchars on everything coming out. Step-by step process: Top of every page: session_start(); session_regenerate_id(); If user logs in via login form, generate new random token to put in user's MySQL row. Hash is generated based on user's salt (from when they first registered) and the new token. Store the hash and plaintext username in session variables, and duplicate in cookies if 'Remember me' is checked. On every page, check for cookies. If cookies set, copy their values into session variables. Then compare $_SESSION['name'] and $_SESSION['hash'] against MySQL database. Destroy all cookies and session variables if they don't match so they have to log in again. If login is valid, some of the user's information from the MySQL database is stored in an array for easy access. So far, I've assumed that this array is clean so when limiting user access I refer to user.rank and deny access if it's below what's required for that page. I've tried to test all the common attacks like XSS and CSRF, but maybe I'm just not good enough at hacking my own site! My system seems way too simple for it to actually be secure (the security code is only 100 lines long). What am I missing? I've also spent alot of time searching for the vulnerabilities with mysql_real_escape string but I haven't found any information that is up-to-date (everything is from several years ago at least and has apparently been fixed). All I know is that the problem was something to do with encoding. If that problem still exists today, how can I avoid it? Any help will be much appreciated.

    Hello everyone. I am designing a web application in ASP.NET / C# where each registered user has the ability to add/modify/delete rows based on their user-id. Take this example: I am going to edit my route on the page /route.aspx?routeid=854 which belongs to me (user-id: 1). But because I am a curious guy I try to access /route.aspx?routeid=855 which belongs to another user (user-id: 2). How can I best avoid people from accessing other peoples data? Should I send each user id (from session) with each database-call, should I validate user/password on every page load or what is the best and most secure approach? I hope I made this clear enough.

  • Methods to achieve first, previous, next and last navigation

    I'm new to programming and have a question about navigation. What are the various methods that can achieve a "First", "Previous", "Next" and "Last" navigation, as seen in article or comic based sites? (Admittedly the "First" link isn't confusing as it can stay static, but what about the others?) For example, on the 50th page, the links would appropriately lead to the 49th and 51st (if it exists, if not it would not function but would automatically become active when such a page exists. In most examples of this I see urls ending with something like ".php?id=50" but am not certain how it's achieved, with a database? Any help will be very much appreciated, thanks.

    Hi, I have designed a new web site. I have hosted it online. I want it to be of the best performance and load pages faster. This website is designed in php 5.0+ using codeigniter. This is using mysql as DB. I have images on it. I am using Nitobi grid for displaying set of records on page. The rest is everything normal page controls. As i am not so very experienced with website performance factors i would like to get suggestions and details on factors that can improve performance of website. Please let me know how i can improve my performance. Also please let me know if there are any ways to measure the performance of website and also any websites or tools to help test the performance.     Hi there in my database I have 3 columns, is_contract, is_permenant and is_temporary. Within these columns there is either a Y or N value.
