• Picking Up Repositories With Structuremap

  I am not sure how to use StructureMap to scan for all repositories in a particular namespace. Most repositories take the form: namespace CPOP.Infrastructure.Repositories { public class PatientRepository : LinqRepository<Patient>, IPatientRepository { } } namespace CPOP.Infrastructure.Repositories { public class LinqRepository<T> : Repository<T>, ILinqRepository<T> { } } namespace CPOP.Domain.Contracts.Repositories { public interface IPatientRepository : ILinqRepository<Patient> { } } I tried: x.Scan(scanner => { scanner.Assembly(Assembly.GetExecutingAssembly()); scanner.ConnectImplementationsToTypesClosing(typeof(ILinqRepository<>)); }) But, it only picks up the LinqRepository class. What's the best way to pick up the various repositories I'll be dumping in there?

• Delphi for PHP - location of source

  I just installed Delphi for PHP to get an idea on how it works and have created a simple app with a button that puts a text into a listbox when it is clicked. The app works if I copy all required files to my webserver and run it from there. It also works if I save the project in the standard path: "c:\documents and settings\username\My Documents\Delphi for PHP Projects" But if I save the project in another directory, the ButtonClick event is not fired when the application runs from there. I've put a breakpoint in the event to see if it stops there but it doesn't. The OnShow event of the form works as usual. It really seems to be the path where the project is located to make it either work or not. As I said, I have no experience with Delphi for PHP so far, it is probably just a simple solution that I don't see...

• Parsing XML stream in ASP.NET 3.5

  Hi All, I am trying to build an ASP.NET 3.5 application based on XML streams from a legacy systems. My issue is once I get the XML I have to built menus and sub menus from the XML as well filter data(XML stream) based on the menu selection without making roundtrip to the Data store(legacy system). Right now I have a DAL which will get the XML stream in the form of XDocument.I was able to built the first level Menu Items, but not the sub Menu Items based on the selection in the Main Menu and then the final content based on the sub menu selection, all this without making a round trip. Is there a way to do this in-memory. Please suggest. thank you. Ranjit

• Table and column naming conventions when plural and singular forms are odd or the same

  In my search I found mostly arguments for whether to use plurality in database naming conventions, and ways to handle it in either case. I have decided I prefer plural table names, so I don't want to argue that. I need to represent an animal's species and genus and so on in a database. The plural and singular form for 'species' are the same, and the plural of 'genus' is 'genera'. I think I can get by with: Table: Genera | Column: Genus But I'm unsure how I should handle: Table: Species | Column: Species If I really wanted to be lazy about this I'd just name them 'species specie' and 'genuses genus', but I would prefer to read them in their correct forms. Any advice would be appreciated.

• WatiN Testing and Connection Strings Fiasco

  I have a separate project which performs watiN tests. The project is in the form of class library project. When I run test it launches the browser and then uses the Web.config of the Web Application Project which I am testing. The Web.config of web application project has the Dev connection string which should not be used for testing. What are different ways that I can take and tell my WatiN to use the App.config that is inside the WatiN project and not the Web application project? Here are couple of options that I have: 1) Replace the connection string at runtime. 2) Replace the connection string at pre-build event or something.

  A user registers on our Rails app and they're given javascript to embed a widget in their website. The widget has a tabbed interface, like the JQuery tabs http://stilbuero.de/jquery/tabs_3/. iFrames have been tested, but the widget form factor and cross-domain policy negates the use of iframes. The widget is very dynamic and will often update the DOM with new content - and because of cross-domain policy, it looks as though JSONP is necessary. I understand that 'widget.js.erb' needs to create the widget layout, reference a stylesheet, render the tabs, etc - but once a tab is clicked, how does the widget request the content from the Rails app and render it in the DOM?

• Image Data via Ajax - how can I display the image on the Page

  I am creating a Domino Document via AJAX that contains a photo. I am able to get the base64 image data back to the server in a Notes Domino Document. Data is stored in a Richtext (textarea) field as "data:image/jpeg;base64,/9j/4AAQSkZJRgABAQAAAQABAAD/2wBDAFA..........." - (this goes on for several lines) I am trying to display on the Domino Webpage using passthru tag <<image id= "pic1" >> in the onLoad event of the Form i try to shove the data into the image element using this code: //Photo Stuff alert(document.forms[0].photo1.value); document.getElementById("pic1").src = document.forms[0].photo1.value; The alert is showing the data. Picture is not appearing. Please help. Thanks Mike

  Does anyone know if its possible to send out custom http REQUEST headers in HTML without having to use javascript (no xhr wrapper). Would it be possible to define them as meta tags within the head? Or may they be defined in the form somewhere? <meta http-equip="x-something-custom" name="custom value" /> this works, however, this is a RESPONSE header. What I need to set a REQUEST header. I'm not looking for setting hidden fields in forms, but actual raw http header manipulation with html tags. Is this possible?

  I have a history table and I need to select the values from this table in ColumnName, ColumnValue form. I am using SQL Server 2008 and I wasn’t sure if I could use the PIVOT function to accomplish this. • Strategy to structure a search index in a relational database

  I am interested in suggestions for building an efficient and robust structure for indexing products in a new database I am building (i'm using MySql) When a product is entered through the form there are three parts I am interested in indexing for searching purposes. The product title The product description Tags The most important is title, followed by tags, followed by the description. I was thinking of using the following structure CREATE TABLE `searchindex` ( `id` INT NOT NULL , `word` VARCHAR( 255 ) NOT NULL , `weighting` INT NOT NULL , `product_id` INT NOT NULL , PRIMARY KEY ( `id` ) ) Then each time a product is created I would split apart the title, description and tags (removing common words) and award them a weighting. Then it is trivial to select out the words and corresponding products and order them by weighting. Is there a better way to do this? I would be worried that this strategy would slow down over time and as the database filled up.

  I'm working on a survey program where people will be given promotional considerations the first time they fill out a survey. In a lot of scenarios, the only way we can stop people from cheating the system and getting a promotion they don't deserve is to check street address strings against each other. I was looking at using levenshtein distance to give me a number to measure similarity, and consider those below a certain threshold a duplicate. However, if someone were looking to game the system, they could easily write "S 5th St" instead of "South Fifth Street", and levenshtein would consider those strings to be very different. So then I was thinking to convert all strings to a 'standard address form' i.e. 'South' becomes 's', 'Fifth' becomes '5th', etc. Then I was thinking this is hopeless, and too much effort to get it working robustly. Is it? I'm working with PHP/MySql, so I have the limitations inherent in that system.

  I have to handle this scenario in Java: I'm getting a request in XML form from a client with declared encoding=utf-8. Unfortunately it may contain not utf-8 characters and there is a requirement to remove these characters from the xml on my side (legacy). Let's consider an example where this invalid XML contains £ (pound). 1) I get xml as java String with £ in it (I don't have access to interface right now, but I probably get xml as a java String). Can I use replaceAll(£, "") to get rid of this character? Any potential issues? 2) I get xml as an array of bytes - how to handle this operation safely in that case?

• PHP upload file using PUT instead of POST

  I read something about this on PHP docs, but it's not celar to me: Do the most widely used browsers (IE, FF, Chrome, Safari, Opera, ...) support this PUT method to uplaod files? What HTML should I write to make the browser call the server via PUT request. I mean do I need to write a FORM with an INPUT file field and just replace the attribute method="POST" with the method="PUT"? On the PHP docs (link above) they say a PUT request is much simplier than a POST request when uploading file, along with this advantage, what other advantages/disadvanatges do the PUT has comapred to teh POST?   Hi, I will be developing an application for a club where they will have visitors use biometric systems(finger print) or magnetic cards to mark their attendance. This application is planned as a web app, made using PHP/MySQL/Javascript. It does a lot of other things as well. What I wanted to find out is how is the interface between Biometric/Megnetic Card systems to a web app done? I've never worked on this and am hoping if someone who has experience with this can throw some light on this as to how this could be accomplished. Any pointers will be appreciated. (I'm afraid there's got to be some form of application installed on a pc that would interface with the hardware and probably makes calls to the web app. But, if there was a way to connect it to the web app directly, then the app would be easy to deploy to any location with minimal installation.) • AutoHotkey ControlSend problem on one machine

  I have this AutoHotkey script that has a weird problem. It is used in 3 workstations, but in one the ControlSend doesn't seem to work as the hotkey doesn't work in program A. All three machines have Windows XP and are Pentium 4 level machines with mostly same software, the script is in exe form. I've tried a lot of different ways to send the hotkey to Program A, but nothing seems to work. The idea of the script is simply to catch a hotkey and click in another window in addition to its normal function. The normal function just doesn't work. The Danga client retrieves a string with an additional empty char prepended to the string, therefore violating the equality condition.   Hi, I have a pretty generic repository that does basic CRUD for many of my business entities. The entities enherit form a generic object that has a few fields I maintain for all objects. eg. ModifiedBy, CreatedBy, CreatedDate, ModifiedDate. These fields ModifiedBy and CreatedBy will always be set before any update/save. My questions is: Is there any way to gain access to the Identity object from my MVC web application in my repositories?   I am working with a web service right now that requires me to upload video binaries straight to their web form via the iPhone SDK. Simple enough. The part that is getting me though is when the connection is interrupted, they want me to be able to continue the upload from a given byte. So here is what I have: the original data & the last byte uploaded What I need to know: how can I continue the data from that byte? I seems like it would be something similar to truncating NSData by the byte but I do not know how to do that for an NSURLConnection/NSURLRequest. Thank you!

  I've written code that can make a phone dial a number from a function call, that's done and dusted. What I would like to achieve is adding a Dial button to each phone number field on the forms in Dynamics CRM. Eventually this could also create a new phone record fill in the basic details and show it to the user to enter notes and an outcome for the phone call, and perhaps some other workflow bits to schedule the next call. Can I put a custom control on a standard form in place of the standard control. I'm assuming it would have to be an IFrame to an asp.net page, that pulls in the record id, and the field name, looks up the number to show in a text box, and passes the number to the DialNumber function. Hey presto... I assume its not going to be that easy... Has anyone tried this before, what's the process, what are the gotchas?

• How to debug a WCF Service with an HTTP Context?

  I need to debug a WCF service but it needs to have an HTTP Context. Currently I have a solution with a WCF service web site, when I click on debug it starts up and then fires up an html page that contains no test form. While the project is running I tried starting the wcftestclient manually, then provided the address of my service, it finds the service but when I invoke it, it bypasses the IIS layer (or development server), so the httpContext is null... What is the correct way to debug a WCF service through an IIS context?
