• How to prevent Visual Studio setting my default font sizes in an inherited control

  I have a base class for all my textboxes and I want to set the default font in that class. So I started with this: public partial class MyTextBox : TextBox { public WmlTextBox() { InitializeComponent(); //Font for the whole application can be altered in the Appearance class Font = new Appearance().TextBoxFont; } } I then stripped out all the code in the form that was setting the font of the textboxes. Of course this worked fine until I altered an item on the page. Visual Studio picked up the default font for the application (set in the Appearance class), and generated code in the designer for all TextBoxes to set it to that specific font. How can I stop visual studio from generating code from my default font? I want to allow the developers to change the property, but I want to set the default font centrally.

  I'm having a hard time wrapping my head around non-static nested classes in Java. Consider the following example, which prints "Inner" and then "Child". class Outer { class Inner { Inner() { System.out.println("Inner"); } } } public class Child extends Outer.Inner { Child(Outer o) { o.super(); System.out.println("Child"); } public static void main(String args[]) { new Child(new Outer()); } } I understand that instances of Inner always have to be associated with an Outer instance, and that that applies to Child too since it extends Inner. My question is what the o.super() syntax means - why does it call the Inner constructor? I've only seen a plain super(args) used to call the superclass constructor and super.method() to call the superclass version of an overridden method, but never something of the form instance.super().

  Hello, I have a Windows Form Application (Form1) that allow the user to open another Forms (FormGraph). In order to open the FormGraph App I use a thread that open it. Here is the code that the thread is running: private void ThreadCreateCurvedGraph() { FormGraph myGraph = new FormGraph(); myGraph.CreateCurvedGraph(...); myGraph.Show(); } My problem is that myGraph closed right after it's open. 1) Does anyone know why this is happening and how to make myGraph stay open? 2) After the user closed myGraph, How do I terminate the thread?   I have a variable called "account_type" passed from a rails form and need to access the value in the corresponding model. I can check if :account_type exists as a symbol, but where does the stored data come into play? Is there something I need to do in the controller? This code gives an undefined method 'account_type' error. validates_format_of :name, :with => /^[a-z0-9_]+$/i, :on => :create if account_type == 2 If I use a symbol then it doesn't give an error, but a symbol will never equal 2 validates_format_of :name, :with => /^[a-z0-9_]+$/i, :on => :create if :account_type == 2 It's confusing that you can validate the format of a symbol (like :name above) when :name only seems to be a reference with nothing stored in it.   I'm building an webapp using Node.js+Express.js+socket.io.js on the backend. Do any of the popular front-end frameworks (Agility, Angular, Backbone, Closure, Dojo, Ember, GWT, jQuery, Knockback, Knockout, Spine, YUI, etc) integrate well with this backend for "real-time" applications? I want my application to have a very "real-time" feel. Specifically, when a user submits a form I want the information to be sent using web sockets to the backend for validation and (if validation passes) to be updated in the database. Then, the server-side will use web sockets to send a confirmation that the data was saved or some list of errors. I will use the server's response to update the page using JavaScript. I know all this can be done with any of the listed frameworks. I'm interested in features of particular frameworks that will help the framework integrate better with the Node-based backend than the other frameworks.

• Owner Vs PArent and Taction shortcuts on Frames

  I have a form with a panel. I create frames at runtime and display them on the panel by setting frame's parent property to the panel. When creating panels I do not set the owner property because i manage myself the lifetime of the frame. Until now i got no problem. Next I put an TActionList on the frame with some shortcuts on the actions. I found that my actions did not execute until I set the owner property of the frame to the panel. Can someone can explain me that ? I thought that owner property was just about wich component is responsible to free the children components, and not responsible to forward key events.

• Binding key/value pairs loaded from xml

  I want to load key/values configuration pairs stored in XML file. To bind a collection of data i know i need to use the ArrayList class, but the problem is that i want to be able to bind the loaded values using their corresponding keys and not by their indexes in the ArrayList object. For example i want to be able to do this : <mx:Text id="errorText" text="{Config.params['someKey']}" /> instead of : <mx:Text id="errorText" text="{Config.params[0]}" /> where Config.params is ArrayList (obviously i couldn't use ArrayList since it doesn't allow selecting a value by key) So the question is how to bind the key/value pairs loaded form XML. I don't want to go manually set variables, i want to bind them so when they are loaded the are set automatically. Did anyone had to do something like that ?

I knew in template_preprocess_page , there is a variable called 'body_classes'. but my problem is, not all body_classes are come from preprocess page. for instance: I have a term named 'activities and attractions', then in my page.tpl.php, there is a class 'page-activities and attractions' in my tag. looks like taxonomy module generates a body_class, but i could find it after search seource code of taxonomy module.

• ValidateInput Attribute Doesn't Seem To Work in ASP.NET MVC

  I'm trying to get around the "potentially dangerous Request.Form value" error and I'm having no luck. Yes, yes, I've read all the other StackOverflow related questions and none of them seem to get me closer to an answer. I am using [ValidateInput(false)] on all related controller actions...and I've checked many times. I'm using ValidateRequest='false' in all the related ASPX views. I am using ASP.NET MVC 2 Preview 1, but I don't think that's an issue since the error is being generated lower in the framework; Page.ProcessRequest to be exact. I can't see anything I'm doing wrong, I even set <page validateRequest='false'> in the web.config and that didn't solve it either. HELP!!!!!

I've used response.redirect("Thankyou.aspx") a lot in the past I've also used something like this for hiding form controls and outputting a message: outResult.Attributes.Remove("style") outResult.Attributes.Add("style", "display:block;") outEntry.Attributes.Remove("style") outEntry.Attributes.Add("style", "display:none;") For the above you have to consider post backs that may occur if the user click refresh though. Does anybody have a better option? thanks!

• REST API for driving distance?

  Is there a service that will give me the driving distance between two addresses? Apparently Google Maps API requires you to display a map, which I don't want to do (on that particular page), and I'd like to just snag the data and save it to my DB after a user submits a form, rather than waiting for JS to do it's thing. If it's relevant, this is going into a Django app. I discovered that CloudMade offers a Python API, which is nice, except their latest dev release has a bug in it (can't use the API object), but more importantly, it's support for Canada is awful/worthless (couldn't find directions from any major city around here!).

• how to setup rails Authenticity Token to work with multiple domains?

  I'm building an app that uses subdomains as account handles (myaccount.domain.com) and I have my sessions configured to work across the sub-domains like so: config.action_controller.session = {:domain => '.domain.com'} In addition to the subdomain a user can input a real domain name when they are creating their account. My Nginx config is setup to watch for *.com *.net etc, and this is working to serve out the pages. The problem comes when a site visitor submits a comment form on a custom domain that was input by the user. The code is throwing an "Invalid AuthenticityToken" exception. I'm 99% sure this is because the domain the user is on isn't specified as the domain in the config.action_controller.session. Thus the authenticity token isn't getting matched up because Rails can't find their session. So, the question is: Can you set config.action_controller.session to more than 1 domain, and if so can you add / remove from that value at runtime without restarting the app?

  I have some servlets that act as individual URLs for populating a database for some dummy testing. I was thinking of using setLocation to set the next page to be redirected but was not sure if this is the right approach because the redirects should happen after the records have been inserted.   Hi there, I know this is a weird question to ask, but I would like to know if there is any documentation/blog-article out there that explains the architecture of a Website content management system? More particularly, I am interested to learn more about how "widgets" are implemented. I can't remember which system it was that I've seen tis one, but in the "Page Layout view" it had the ability to allow the end user to select a widget (thumbnail gallery, contact form, etc) from a list, and drag and drop it onto custom areas of the page. • restful way for deleting a bunch of items

  In wiki article for REST it is indicated that if you use http://example.com/resources DELETE, that means you are deleting the entire collection. If you use http://example.com/resources/7HOU57Y DELETE, that means you are deleting that element. I am doing a WEBSITE, note NOT WEB SERVICE. I have a list that has 1 checkbox for each item on the list. Once i select multiple items for deletion, i will allow users to press a button called DELETE SELECTION. If user presses the button, a js dialog box will popup asking user to confirm the deletion. if user confirms, all the items are deleted. So how should i cater for deleting multiple items in a RESTFUL way? NOTE, currently for DELETE in a webpage, what i do is i use FORM tag with POST as action but include a _method with the value DELETE since this is what was indicated by others in SO on how to do RESTful delete for webpage.

However, I keep getting the value as 'undefined', in spite of entering text into the newly added text box. This does not happen if the form already has a text box to begin with - i.e., if a text box is not being added via a js function. Anything missing / look wrong here? Thanks!

• How can I use the FOR attribute of a LABEL tag without the ID attribute on the INPUT tag

  Is there a solution to the problem illustrated in the code below? Start by opening the code in a browser to get straight to the point and not have to look through all that code before knowing what you're looking for. <html> <head> <title>Input ID creates problems</title> <style type="text/css"> #prologue, #summary { margin: 5em; } </style> </head> <body> <h1>Input ID creates a bug</h1> <p id="prologue"> In this example, I make a list of checkboxes representing things which could appear in a book. If you want some in your book, you check them: </p> <form> <ul> <li> <input type="checkbox" id="prologue" /> <label for="prologue">prologue</label> </li> <li> <input type="checkbox" id="chapter" /> <label for="chapter">chapter</label> </li> <li> <input type="checkbox" id="summary" /> <label for="summary">summary</label> </li> <li> <input type="checkbox" id="etc" /> <label for="etc">etc</label> <label> </li> </ul> </form> <p id="summary"> For each checkbox, I want to assign an ID so that clicking a label checks the corresponding checkbox. The problems occur when other elements in the page already use those IDs. In this case, a CSS declaration was made to add margins to the two paragraphs which IDs are "prologue" and "summary", but because of the IDs given to the checkboxes, the checkboxes named "prologue" and "summary" are also affected by this declaration. The following links simply call a javascript function which writes out the element whose id is <a href="javascript:alert(document.getElementById('prologue'));">prologue</a> and <a href="javascript:alert(document.getElementById('summary'));">summary</a>, respectively. In the first case (prologue), the script writes out [object HTMLParagraphElement], because the first element found with id "prologue" is a paragraph. But in the second case (summary), the script writes out [object HTMLInputElement] because the first element found with id "summary" is an input. In the case of another script, the consequences of this mix up could have been much more dramatic. Now try clicking on the label prologue in the list above. It does not check the checkbox as clicking on any other label. This is because it finds the paragraph whose ID is also "prologue" and tries to check that instead. By the way, if there were another checkbox whose id was "prologue", then clicking on the label would check the one which appears first in the code. </p> <p> An easy fix for this would be to chose other IDs for the checkboxes, but this doesn't apply if these IDs are given dynamically, by a php script for example. Another easy fix for this would be to write labels like this: <pre> &lt;label&gt;&lt;input type="checkbox" /&gt;prologue&lt;/label&gt; </pre> and not need to give an ID to the checkboxes. But this only works if the label and checkbox are next to each other. </p> <p> Well, that's the problem. I guess the ideal solution would be to link a label to a checkboxe using another mechanism (not using ID). I think the perfect way to do this would be to match a label to the input element whose NAME (not ID) is the same as the label's FOR attribute. What do you think? </p> </body> </html>
