  • Audio output from Silverlight

    I'm looking to develop a Silverlight application which will take a stream of data (not an audio stream as such) from a web server. The data stream would then be manipulated to give audio of a certain format (G.711 a-Law for example) which would then be converted into PCM so that additional effects can be applied (such as boosting the volume). I'm OK up to this point. I've got my data, converted the G.711 into PCM but my problem is being able to output this PCM audio to the sound card. I basing a solution on some C# code intended for a .Net application but in Silverlight there is a problem with trying to take a copy of a delegate (function pointer) which will be the topic of a separate question once I've produced a simple code sample. So, the question is... How can I output the PCM audio that I have held in a data structure (currently an array) in my Silverlight to the user? (Please don't say write the byte values to a text box) If it were a MP3 or WMA file I would play it using a MediaElement but I don't want to have to make it into a file as this would put a crimp on applying dynamic effects to the audio. I've seen a few posts from people saying low level audio support is poor/non-existant in Silverlight so I'm open to any suggestions/ideas people may have.

  • Stata output files in surveys

    I have some survey data which I'm using Stata to analyze. I want to compute means of one variable by group and save those means to a Stata file. My code looks like this: svyset [iw=wtsupp], sdrweight(repwtp1-repwtp160) vce(sdr) svy: mean x I tried svy: by grp: mean x but that did not work. I could save each mean to a separate file by simply saying svy: mean x if grp==1 but that's inefficient. Is there a better way? Saving results to a file like one can use SAS ODS to capture results is also a need. I am not talking about the log here. I need the means and the associated group. I'm thinking estimates save [path],replace but I'm not sure if that will give me a Stata file or the group if I can figure out how to use by processing.

  • [WM6] Owner of a component. What exactly is this for?

    I am developing an app for Windows Mobile 6 and there is a CameraCaptureDialog class that enables me to call a camera app from my own application. The class has an Owner property that most examples on the internet set to "this". cam.Owner = this; What exactly does this do? I've seen a similar scenario with Windows Forms components/controls by setting the Parent control. In that case I guess it's used only for layout algorithms, but other than that, is there any useful purpose? I don't see how setting an owner of the CameraCaptureDialog can (and actually does not) make any difference (at least not a visible one). Any insight would be appreciated.

How do I resolve so that the output is updated on the same positive rising clock edge? Here's what I mean: ForwardA is updated with 2 on the next rising clock edge and not on the same rising clock edge

    I have a program where I am generating two double numbers by adding several input prices from a file based on a condition. The way one and two are getting calculated exactly same. Then why the output format is like this. What I am expecting is: One: 2773554.02 Two: 63025058.36 Why the printing is in two different formats ? I want to write the outputs again to a file and thus there must be only two digits after decimal.

    What is the "proper" of writing the standard read-while loop in Scala? By proper I mean written in a Scala-like way as opposed to a Java-like way. For one it is a literal translation of the Java code, taking advantage of none of the advantages of Scala. Further it is actually longer than the Java code! I really feel like I'm missing something, but I can't figure out what. I'm fairly new to Scala, and so I'm asking the question to avoid falling into the pitfall of writing Java-style code in Scala. I'm more interested in the Scala way to solve this kind of problem than in any specific helper method that might be provided by the Scala API to hash a file. (I apologize in advance for my ad hoc Scala adjectives throughout this question.)

  • How to adjust video recording brightness?

    When I record videos in low-light conditions on my Motorola Droid results are poor... very dark images. On my old phone, an LG Dare, recording in low light works better thanks to a brightness adjustment in the video recorder which can be set manually... Android does not have a similar brightness adjustment when recording video. Does anyone have suggestions for how to adjust the brightness using Android's APIs? I have searched the official APIs, but I cannot find a way to control brightness.

    I'm wanting to make a small python program for yearly temperatures. I can get nearly everything working in the standard console but I'm wanting to implement it into a GUI. The program opens a csv file reads it into lists, works out the average, and min & max temps. Then on closing the application will save a summary to a new text file. I am wanting the default start up screen to show All Years. When a button is clicked it just shows that year's data. Here is a what I want it to look like. Pretty simple layout with just the 5 buttons and the out puts for each.     Hello, I am using a code sample to connect to a webcam, and don't really understand the meaning of the variables passed to the SendMessage method. SendMessage(DeviceHandle, WM_CAP_SET_SCALE, -1, 0) SendMessage(DeviceHandle, WM_CAP_SET_PREVIEW, -1, 0) What does the -1 mean? To scale/preview or not to scale/preview? I'd prefer that zero/one would be used, zero meaning false, and have no idea what the -1 means. SendMessage(DeviceHandle, WM_CAP_EDIT_COPY, 0, 0); What does the zero mean in this case? Or does this message is simply void and the zero has no meaning, similar to the last zero argument? Btw, what DOES the last zero argument mean? Thank you very much in advance :)

    Hello! Not a programmer, I begin with xml, html forms and xslt on Mac. I plan to use a form to post short texts in a xhtml page and invite end users to add some annotations to the said text. The users would select a specific part of the text posted and each annotation would stand for one specific chain of characters. My goal is to consolidate the tags obtained from various user's annotations to one xml "knowledge base" containing the original text with all the revision indicators. Then I plan to use xslt sheets to product various reports based on the tags obtained. my two questions are : 1- am I dreaming ? Is it really possible to do that with xml, xforms, xslt without using java, php, ajax or other seasoned programmer's tools ? 2- What should be my focus for further explorations aiming in that direction ?     Hi everybody, I have a specific problem, and cant get over it. For my latest project I need a simple PHP script that display an image according to its ID sent through URL. Here's the code: header("Content-type: image/jpeg"); $img = $_GET["img"]; echo file_get_contents("http://www.somesite.hr/images/$img"); The problem is that the image doesn't show although the browser recognizes it (i can see it in the page title), instead I get the image URL printed out. It doesn't work neither on a server with remote access allowed nor with one without. Also, nothing is printed or echoed before the header. I wonder if it is a content type error, or something else.     I expect any good program should do all their reads and writes in a loop until all data written/read without relying that write will write everything (even with regular files). Am I right? Implemented simple FUSE filesystem which only allows reading and writing with small buffers, very often returning that it is written less bytes that in a buffer (using -o direct_io). Some programs work, some not. Are them buggy or programs should not expect truncated writes and reads from the regular files?
