  • Script Task/Component and Template Information

    The Script Task and Script component are often used by people developing SSIS packages because they are easy to use and now because SSIS could be perceived to be more developer friendly they are very powerful. That being said we should no be using them everywhere.  There are generally Tasks/Components already provided that will do the job it may be that we have to rethink the way we want to draw our package. I had cause last week to break out the script component in SQL Server 2008 SP1 and found that it was broken.  I don’t know when it broke as I do not use them all that often.  My error was as below.     Something must have overwritten this template information.  I looked in Event Viewer and tried the things it suggested but the templates still did not work.  Here is how I got them eventually to work for me (Your Mileage may vary) Open up a Command Prompt window using an administrator level account and “as an administrator” vsta.exe /hostid SSIS_ScriptTask /setup vsta.exe /hostid SSIS_ScriptComponent /setup   This worked for me.  Hope it helps.

  • Generic and type safe I/O model in any language

    I am looking for an I/O model, in any programming language, that is generic and type safe. By genericity, I mean there should not be separate functions for performing the same operations on different devices (read_file, read_socket, read_terminal). Instead, a single read operation works on all read-able devices, a single write operation works on all write-able devices, and so on. By type safety, I mean operations that do not make sense should not even be expressible in first place. Using the read operation on a non-read-able device ought to cause a type error at compile time, similarly for using the write operation on a non-write-able device, and so on. Is there any generic and type safe I/O model?

  • Calculating instantaneous speed and acceleration for a simple Car software model

    I am trying to model a speedometer and tachometer for a simple software model of a car dashboard. I want this to be relatively simple, so for my purposes I won't likely simulate variables such as drag (or, assume that drag is a constant). But I would like to know the general formulas for: 1) Calculating the RPM, depending on a position of a graphical slider representing the accelerator. 2) Using this information to find the instantaneous speed (or, magnitude of instantaneous velocity?). I am not sure, in the case of 2), what other independent variables I need to consider. Do I need to consider the frequency of rotation of the wheels (assuming a fixed radius), in addition to the RPM? If anyone can give me a rough explanation plus relevant formulas, or alternatively direct me to other trusted resources online (I have had a hard time sifting through info and determining the accuracy), it would be much appreciated.

    I am learning some Ruby on Rails, and am a newbie. Most of my background is in ASP.net MVC on the back end. As I play with a basic scaffold project, I wonder about this case: you jump into an established Rails project and want to get to know the model. Based on what I have seen so far (again, simple scaffold), the properties for a given class are not immediately revealed. I don't see property accessors on the model classes. I do understand that this is because of the dynamic nature of Ruby and such things are not necessary or even perhaps desirable. Convention over code, I get that. (Am familiar with dynamic concepts, mostly via JS.) But if I am somewhere off in a view, and want to quickly know whether the (eg) Person object has a MiddleName property, how would I find that out? I don't have to go into the migrations, do I?

These were not sophisticated attacks ... yet they were very successful in achieving their goals," said Dmitri Alperovitch, McAfee's vice president for threat research. Apparently, the attacks can be traced back over several years, creating a sustained security compromise that has provided access to highly sensitive information that is of huge financial value to competitors. The value of IRM as an additional layer of protection is clear. Whether your infrastructure security is in a sad state or is state of the art, breaches are always a possibility - and in any case, a lot of sensitive information is shared with third parties whose infrastructure security might not be as good as yours. IRM protects the individual information assets directly so that, even if infrastructure security is compromised, your critical information is enrypted and trackable and only accessible to authenticated, authorised, audited users.     The context: Six hosts across worldwide were traced over week from UK. Ten thousands of lines to be parsed and analysed. And then I try to find any clue of geographical information and path - from where it jumps where. Then after Austria or Germany(each time different) I have mysterious 62.208.72.6 which in GEO LOC gives me Falklands Islands (which is where my target host is by the way, but before target host I still have 5 other nodes) Then I do whois for this 62.208.72.6 route: 62.208.0.0/16 descr: DE-ECRC-62-208-0-0 origin: AS1273 mnt-by: CW-EUROPE-GSOC source: RIPE # Filtered Why it says Europe now? How to understand this enigma code? I want to confirm more or less whether this is in europe or in falkland islands? But it can't be in FK yet as after next two hosts I get New York? Could you also tell me what does this CW-EUROPE-GSOC abbreviation means.   • Best solution for getting referral information in PHP

    I am currently redoing some link structuring on a website. In the past we have used specific php files on the last step to direct the user to the proper place. Example: www.mysite.com/action/go-to-blue.php or www.mysite.com/action/short/go-to-red.php www.mysite.com/action/tall/go-to-red.php We are now restructuring to eliminate the /short/ or /tall/ directory. What this means is now "go-to-blue.php" will be doing some extra processing to make sure it sends the visitor to the proper place. The static method of the past was quite effective, because, well, if they left from that page we knew we had it right. Now since we are 301 redirecting action/short/go-to-red.php to just action/go-to-red.php it is quite important on "go-to-red.php" that we realize a user may have been redirected from /short/ or /tall/. So right now I am using HTTP_REFERRER and of course in my testing that works fine, but after a lot of reading it is clear that this is not a solid solution, so I was starting to brainstorm on other ways to check and make sure we get the proper referral information. If we could check HTTP_REFERRER plus some other test, I would feel confident we have a pretty good system in place to send the visitor to the right place. Some questions/comments: Could I use a session variable or a cookie to accomplish this goal? If so, would that be maintained through the 301 redirect? I don't see why it wouldn't be.. Passing the url in the url is not an option in this case.

    I am trying to implement a web page recommendation wherein registered users will be given a recommendation of which page to visit depending upon the previous data.So with initial study I decided to go on with clustering the data with rough sets and then will move forward to find out the sequential patters with the use of prefix span algorithm.So now I want to have a better prediction model in place which can predict the access frequency of pages.I have figured out with Markov model but still some more suggestions will be valuable.Also please help me with some references of the models too.Is it possible to directly predict the next page access with the result of PrefixSpan.If so how?

    I decided to add to my game few trees, I already quake 3 model loader (md3) its for characters and method for texture drawing is store in *.ini file. I found a package of trees in MD3 and I have no problem with loading model alone, but there is a *.shader file and i have no idea how to load it to draw texture properly.   • XNA stopped compiling my model x files

    So I've a 3d game project I'm working on and I'm using 2 model files (SkyBlock.x and AimedBlock.x). So until now everything was all good and my models files were compiled all okay and I was able to use them within my game. With the latest changes (which I don't know what caused it really) - XNA stopped compiling my model files and instead only outputs files; AimedBlockxnb - 1kb SkyDome.xnb - 1kb SkyDomeTexture.xnb - 1389 kb SkyDomeTexture_0.xnb - 419 kb So I created a test XNA game project and moved all my asset's to new solution content project's and tried compiling them and saw that they're all good. AimedBlockxnb - 2kb SkyDome.xnb - 13kb SkyDomeTexture.xnb - 4097 kb SkyDomeTexture_0.xnb - 683 kb So I guess my main project sucks there but I couldn't came with a solution. I even tried overwriting my game's content project with new game's content project (which was all okay) but it didn't work. Anybody had similar issues?
