  • ruby on rails configuration

    - by Themasterhimself
Im using the following guide for getting started with rails for ubuntu 9.10. http://guides.rails.info/getting_started.html I have installed both ruby and gem. gokul@gokul-laptop:~$ ruby -v ruby 1.8.7 (2009-06-12 patchlevel 174) [i486-linux] gokul@gokul-laptop:~$ gem -v 1.3.6 gokul@gokul-laptop:~$ For rails, gokul@gokul-laptop:~$sudo gem install rails doesnt seem to give any response. so used the synaptic package manager for installing it. And it seems to have installed correctly. gokul@gokul-laptop:~$ rails Usage: /usr/bin/rails /path/to/your/app [options] Options: -r, --ruby=path Path to the Ruby binary of your choice (otherwise scripts use env, dispatchers current path). Default: /usr/bin/ruby1.8 -d, --database=name Preconfigure for selected database (options: mysql/oracle/postgresql/sqlite2/sqlite3/frontbase/ibm_db). Default: sqlite3 -D, --with-dispatchers Add CGI/FastCGI/mod_ruby dispatches code to generated application skeleton Default: false --freeze Freeze Rails in vendor/rails from the gems generating the skeleton Default: false -m, --template=path Use an application template that lives at path (can be a filesystem path or URL). Default: (none) Rails Info: -v, --version Show the Rails version number and quit. -h, --help Show this help message and quit. General Options: -p, --pretend Run but do not make any changes. -f, --force Overwrite files that already exist. -s, --skip Skip files that already exist. -q, --quiet Suppress normal output. -t, --backtrace Debugging: show backtrace on errors. -c, --svn Modify files with subversion. (Note: svn must be in path) -g, --git Modify files with git. (Note: git must be in path) Description: The 'rails' command creates a new Rails application with a default directory structure and configuration at the path you specify. Example: rails ~/Code/Ruby/weblog This generates a skeletal Rails installation in ~/Code/Ruby/weblog. See the README in the newly created application to get going. gokul@gokul-laptop:~$ app folder is created with all the proper folders. The problem starts with the following commands... gokul@gokul-laptop:~$ sudo gem install bundler [sudo] password for gokul: Successfully installed bundler-0.9.24 1 gem installed Installing ri documentation for bundler-0.9.24... Installing RDoc documentation for bundler-0.9.24... gokul@gokul-laptop:~$ bundle install Could not locate Gemfile gokul@gokul-laptop:~$ coming to the database, the default sqlite3 seems to have installed correctly. gokul@gokul-laptop:~$ sqlite3 SQLite version 3.6.16 Enter ".help" for instructions Enter SQL statements terminated with a ";" sqlite The welcome aboard page is not being able to be found at (http://localhost:3000) after executing the following commands... gokul@gokul-laptop:~/Desktop$ rails blog create create app/controllers create app/helpers create app/models create app/views/layouts create config/environments create config/initializers create config/locales create db create doc create lib create lib/tasks create log create public/images create public/javascripts create public/stylesheets create script/performance create test/fixtures create test/functional create test/integration create test/performance create test/unit create vendor create vendor/plugins create tmp/sessions create tmp/sockets create tmp/cache create tmp/pids create Rakefile create README create app/controllers/application_controller.rb create app/helpers/application_helper.rb create config/database.yml create config/routes.rb create config/locales/en.yml create db/seeds.rb create config/initializers/backtrace_silencers.rb create config/initializers/inflections.rb create config/initializers/mime_types.rb create config/initializers/new_rails_defaults.rb create config/initializers/session_store.rb create config/environment.rb create config/boot.rb create config/environments/production.rb create config/environments/development.rb create config/environments/test.rb create script/about create script/console create script/dbconsole create script/destroy create script/generate create script/runner create script/server create script/plugin create script/performance/benchmarker create script/performance/profiler create test/test_helper.rb create test/performance/browsing_test.rb create public/404.html create public/422.html create public/500.html create public/index.html create public/favicon.ico create public/robots.txt create public/images/rails.png create public/javascripts/prototype.js create public/javascripts/effects.js create public/javascripts/dragdrop.js create public/javascripts/controls.js create public/javascripts/application.js create doc/README_FOR_APP create log/server.log create log/production.log create log/development.log create log/test.log gokul@gokul-laptop:~/Desktop$ cd blog gokul@gokul-laptop:~/Desktop/blog$ rake db:create (in /home/gokul/Desktop/blog) gokul@gokul-laptop:~/Desktop/blog$ rails server create create app/controllers create app/helpers create app/models create app/views/layouts create config/environments create config/initializers create config/locales create db create doc create lib create lib/tasks create log create public/images create public/javascripts create public/stylesheets create script/performance create test/fixtures create test/functional create test/integration create test/performance create test/unit create vendor create vendor/plugins create tmp/sessions create tmp/sockets create tmp/cache create tmp/pids create Rakefile create README create app/controllers/application_controller.rb create app/helpers/application_helper.rb create config/database.yml create config/routes.rb create config/locales/en.yml create db/seeds.rb create config/initializers/backtrace_silencers.rb create config/initializers/inflections.rb create config/initializers/mime_types.rb create config/initializers/new_rails_defaults.rb create config/initializers/session_store.rb create config/environment.rb create config/boot.rb create config/environments/production.rb create config/environments/development.rb create config/environments/test.rb create script/about create script/console create script/dbconsole create script/destroy create script/generate create script/runner create script/server create script/plugin create script/performance/benchmarker create script/performance/profiler create test/test_helper.rb create test/performance/browsing_test.rb create public/404.html create public/422.html create public/500.html create public/index.html create public/favicon.ico create public/robots.txt create public/images/rails.png create public/javascripts/prototype.js create public/javascripts/effects.js create public/javascripts/dragdrop.js create public/javascripts/controls.js create public/javascripts/application.js create doc/README_FOR_APP create log/server.log create log/production.log create log/development.log create log/test.log gokul@gokul-laptop:~/Desktop/blog$ hope some one can help me with this...

  • Language Club – Battle of the Dynamic Languages

    - by Ben Griswold
After dedicating the last eight weeks to learning Ruby, it’s time to move onto another language.  I really dig Ruby.  I really enjoy its dynamism and expressiveness and always-openness and it’s been the highlight of our coding club for me so far. But that’s just my take on the language.  I know a lot of coders who’s stomachs turn with the mere thought of Ruby.  They say it’s Ruby’s openness which has them feeling uneasy.  I’d say “write a bunch of tests and get over it,” but I figure there must be more to it than always open classes and possible method collisions. Yes, there’s something else to it alright. The folks who didn’t fall head over heals for Ruby are already in love with Python.  You might remember that Python was the first language we tackled in our coding club.  My time with Python was okay but it didn’t feel as natural to me as Ruby.  But let’s say we started with Ruby and then moved onto Python.  Would I see Python in a different light right now.  Might I even prefer Python over Ruby?  I suppose it’s possible but it’s pretty tough to test that theory – unless we visit Python for a second time. That’s right. The language club is going to focus on Python again and in my attempt to learn Python – yet again – in the open, I’ll be posting my solutions here just as I did for Ruby.  We don’t always have second chances so I going about this relearning with two primary goals in mind:  First, I’m going to use IronPython and the IronPython tools which provide a Python code editor, a file-based project system, and an interactive Python interpreter, all inside Visual Studio 2010.  As a note, the IronPython tools are now part of the main IronPython installer which is Version 2.7 Alpha 1 (not the latest stable version, 2.6.1) and I’d be crazy not to use them.  Second, I’d like to make sure I’m still learning Python without a complete MS skew so I’m going to run my code through Eclipse using the PyDev plugin as well.  Heck, I might use IDLE too. I already have this setup on my machine so it’s no big deal. Okay, that’s it for now.  I worked on the first ten Euler problems last night and the solutions will be posted shortly. Wish me luck.

  • compass-rails 1.03 - TypeError: can't convert nil into String

    - by Romiko
I am running: ruby 1.9.3p392 (2013-02-22) [i386-mingw32] compass-rails 1.0.3 I used the Windows RailsInstaller to install Ruby on Rails Gemfile group :assets do gem 'sass-rails', '~> 3.2.3' gem 'coffee-rails', '~> 3.2.1' gem 'compass-rails','~> 1.0.2' # See https://github.com/sstephenson/execjs#readme for more supported runtimes # gem 'therubyracer', :platforms => :ruby gem 'uglifier', '>= 1.0.3' end I am currently experiencing issues importing sprites. My sprites are in: assets/images/source in my _shared.scss file I have: //Sprites @import "./source/*.png"; $source-sprite-dimensions: true; In my application.scss I have: /* * This is a manifest file that'll be compiled into application.css, which will include all the files * listed below. * * Any CSS and SCSS file within this directory, lib/assets/stylesheets, vendor/assets/stylesheets, * or vendor/assets/stylesheets of plugins, if any, can be referenced here using a relative path. * * You're free to add application-wide styles to this file and they'll appear at the top of the * compiled file, but it's generally better to create a new file per style scope. * *= require_self */ @import "_shared.scss"; @import "baseline.scss"; @import "global.scss"; @import "normalize.scss"; @import "print.scss"; @import "desktop.scss"; @import "tablet.scss"; @import "home.css.scss"; I am also using rails server and not compass watcher. However when I browse to the page at localhost:3000/assets/application.css, I get the following error: body:before { font-weight: bold; content: "\000a TypeError: can't convert nil into String\000a • How to verify the SSL connection when calling an URI?

    - by robertokl
Hello, I am developing an web application that is authenticated using CAS (A single-sign-on solution: http://www.ja-sig.org/wiki/display/CAS/Home). For security reasons, I need two things to work: The communication between CAS and my application needs to be secure My application needs to accept the certification coming with CAS, so that I can guarantee that the CAS responding is the real CAS Server. This is what I got so far: uri = URI.parse("https://www.google.com/accounts") https = Net::HTTP.new(uri.host, uri.port) https.use_ssl = (uri.scheme == 'https') https.verify_mode = (OpenSSL::SSL::VERIFY_PEER) raw_res = https.start do |conn| conn.get("#{uri.path}?#{uri.query}") end This works just great in my Mac OSX. When I try to reach an insecure uri, it raises an exception, and when I try to reach a secure uri, it allow me normally, just like expected. The problem starts when I deploy my application on my Linux server. I tried in both Ubuntu and Red Hat. Independing of what uri I try to reach, it always raises me this exception: OpenSSL::SSL::SSLError: SSL_connect returned=1 errno=0 state=SSLv3 read server certificate B: certificate verify failed from /usr/local/lib/ruby/1.8/net/http.rb:586:in `connect' from /usr/local/lib/ruby/1.8/net/http.rb:586:in `connect' from /usr/local/lib/ruby/1.8/net/http.rb:553:in `do_start' from /usr/local/lib/ruby/1.8/net/http.rb:542:in `start' from (irb):7 I think this have something to do with my installed OpenSSL package, but I can't be sure. This are my installed OpenSSL packages: openssl.x86_64 0.9.8e-12.el5 installed openssl-devel.x86_64 0.9.8e-12.el5 installed I tried using HTTParty as well, but it just ignores the SSL certificated. I hope someone can help me, either by telling me a gem that works the way I need. Thanks.

I have the following code in my model: attr_accessor :expiry_date validates_presence_of :expiry_date, :on => :create, :message => "can't be blank" and the following in my view: <%= date_select :account, :expiry_date, :discard_day => true, :start_year => Time.now.year, :end_year => Time.now.year + 15, :order => [:month, :year] %> However, when I submit my form I get: ActiveRecord::MultiparameterAssignmentErrors in SignupController#create /Users/x/.rvm/gems/ruby-1.8.6-p383/gems/activerecord-2.3.5/lib/active_record/base.rb:3073:in `execute_callstack_for_multiparameter_attributes' /Users/x/.rvm/gems/ruby-1.8.6-p383/gems/activerecord-2.3.5/lib/active_record/base.rb:3028:in `assign_multiparameter_attributes' /Users/x/.rvm/gems/ruby-1.8.6-p383/gems/activerecord-2.3.5/lib/active_record/base.rb:2750:in `attributes=' /Users/x/.rvm/gems/ruby-1.8.6-p383/gems/activerecord-2.3.5/lib/active_record/base.rb:2438:in `initialize' Any ideas as to what the problem might be? I've looked at #93277 with no joy, so am kinda stuck. Adding day to the select does NOT resolve the issue. Any ideas?

I can create a new project using rails and I can use stuff like rails migration ... and i (correctly) get a error because the sqlite gem is missing. but when i try using rails migration ... with a project i checked out from github, it doesn't recognize that it is a rails project i get: Usage: rails new APP_PATH [options] Options: -d, [--database=DATABASE] # Preconfigure for selected database (options: mysql/oracle/postgresql/sqlite3/frontbase/ibm_db) # Default: sqlite3 -O, [--skip-active-record] # Skip Active Record files [--dev] # Setup the application with Gemfile pointing to your Rails checkout -J, [--skip-prototype] # Skip Prototype files -T, [--skip-test-unit] # Skip Test::Unit files -G, [--skip-git] # Skip Git ignores and keeps -b, [--builder=BUILDER] # Path to an application builder (can be a filesystem path or URL) [--edge] # Setup the application with Gemfile pointing to Rails repository -m, [--template=TEMPLATE] # Path to an application template (can be a filesystem path or URL) -r, [--ruby=PATH] # Path to the Ruby binary of your choice # Default: /usr/bin/ruby1.8 [--skip-gemfile] # Don't create a Gemfile and it goes on. any ideas? edit: it's probably an important detail that earlier my rails wasn't working at all. i had to cp /usr/bin/ruby to /usr/bin/local/ruby

  • Flushing a queue using AMQP, Rabbit, and Ruby

    - by jeffshantz
I'm developing a system in Ruby that is going to make use of RabbitMQ to send messages to a queue as it does some work. I am using: Ruby 1.9.1 Stable RabbitMQ 1.7.2 AMQP gem v0.6.7 (http://github.com/tmm1/amqp) Most of the examples I have seen on this gem have their publish calls in an EM.add_periodic_timer block. This doesn't work for what I suspect is a vast majority of use cases, and certainly not for mine. I need to publish a message as I complete some work, so putting a publish statement in an add_periodic_timer block doesn't suffice. So, I'm trying to figure out how to publish a few messages to a queue, and then "flush" it, so that any messages I've published are then delivered to my subscribers. To give you an idea of what I mean, consider the following publisher code: #!/usr/bin/ruby require 'rubygems' require 'mq' MESSAGES = ["hello","goodbye","test"] AMQP.start do queue = MQ.queue('testq') messages_published = 0 while (messages_published < 50) if (rand() < 0.4) message = MESSAGES[rand(MESSAGES.size)] puts "#{Time.now.to_s}: Publishing: #{message}" queue.publish(message) messages_published += 1 end sleep(0.1) end AMQP.stop do EM.stop end end So, this code simply loops, publishing a message with 40% probability on each iteration of the loop, and then sleeps for 0.1 seconds. It does this until 50 messages have been published, and then stops AMQP. Of course, this is just a proof of concept. Now, my subscriber code: #!/usr/bin/ruby require 'rubygems' require 'mq' AMQP.start do queue = MQ.queue('testq') queue.subscribe do |header, msg| puts "#{Time.now.to_s}: Received #{msg}" end end So, we just subscribe to the queue, and for each message received, we print it out. Great, except that the subscriber only receives all 50 messages when the publisher calls AMQP.stop. Here's the output from my publisher. It has been truncated in the middle for brevity: $ ruby publisher.rb 2010-04-14 21:45:42 -0400: Publishing: test 2010-04-14 21:45:42 -0400: Publishing: hello 2010-04-14 21:45:42 -0400: Publishing: test 2010-04-14 21:45:43 -0400: Publishing: test 2010-04-14 21:45:44 -0400: Publishing: test 2010-04-14 21:45:44 -0400: Publishing: goodbye 2010-04-14 21:45:45 -0400: Publishing: goodbye 2010-04-14 21:45:45 -0400: Publishing: test 2010-04-14 21:45:45 -0400: Publishing: test . . . 2010-04-14 21:45:55 -0400: Publishing: test 2010-04-14 21:45:55 -0400: Publishing: test 2010-04-14 21:45:55 -0400: Publishing: test 2010-04-14 21:45:55 -0400: Publishing: goodbye Next, the output from my subscriber: $ ruby consumer.rb 2010-04-14 21:45:56 -0400: Received test 2010-04-14 21:45:56 -0400: Received hello 2010-04-14 21:45:56 -0400: Received test 2010-04-14 21:45:56 -0400: Received test 2010-04-14 21:45:56 -0400: Received test 2010-04-14 21:45:56 -0400: Received goodbye 2010-04-14 21:45:56 -0400: Received goodbye 2010-04-14 21:45:56 -0400: Received test 2010-04-14 21:45:56 -0400: Received test . . . 2010-04-14 21:45:56 -0400: Received test 2010-04-14 21:45:56 -0400: Received test 2010-04-14 21:45:56 -0400: Received test 2010-04-14 21:45:56 -0400: Received goodbye If you note the timestamps in the output, the subscriber only receives all of the messages once the publisher has stopped AMQP and exited. So, being an AMQP newb, how can I get my messages to deliver immediately? I tried putting AMQP.start and AMQP.stop in the body of the while loop of the publisher, but then only the first message gets delivered -- though strangely, if I turn on logging, there are no error messages reported by the server and the messages do get sent to the queue, but never get received by the subscriber. Suggestions would be much appreciated. Thanks for reading.

  • Ruby. Mongoid. Relations

I've encountered some problems with MongoID. I have three models: require 'mongoid' class Configuration include Mongoid::Document belongs_to :user field :links, :type => Array field :root, :type => String field :objects, :type => Array field :categories, :type => Array has_many :entries end class TimeDim include Mongoid::Document field :day, :type => Integer field :month, :type => Integer field :year, :type => Integer field :day_of_week, :type => Integer field :minute, :type => Integer field :hour, :type => Integer has_many :entries end class Entry include Mongoid::Document belongs_to :configuration belongs_to :time_dim field :category, :type => String # any other dynamic fields end Creating documents for Configurations and TimeDims is successful. But when i've trying to execute following code: params = Hash.new params[:configuration] = config # an instance of Configuration from DB entry.each do |key, value| params[key.to_sym] = value # String end unless Entry.exists?(conditions: params) params[:time_dim] = self.generate_time_dim # an instance of TimeDim from DB params[:category] = self.detect_category(descr) # String Entry.new(params).save end ... i saw following output: /home/scepion1d/Workspace/RubyMine/dana-x/.bundle/ruby/1.9.1/gems/bson-1.6.1/lib/bson/bson_c.rb:24:in `serialize': Cannot serialize an object of class Configuration into BSON. • Weird Rails database errors

    - by Jason Swett
I've had some trouble getting my Rails app to connect to PostgreSQL so I decided to just say screw it and use SQLite for now. (I'm using the tutorial here: http://guides.rubyonrails.org/getting_started.html) I started a BRAND NEW, fresh Rails app from this tutorial. When I visit my app in the browser after deleting public/index.html, I get this the first time: Please install the pg adapter: `gem install activerecord-pg-adapter` (no such file to load -- active_record/connection_adapters/pg_adapter) That's odd to me because I'm not mentioning PostgreSQL anywhere. Here's my databases.yml: # SQLite version 3.x # gem install sqlite3-ruby (not necessary on OS X Leopard) development: adapter: sqlite3 database: db/development.sqlite3 pool: 5 timeout: 5000 # Warning: The database defined as "test" will be erased and # re-generated from your development database when you run "rake". # Do not set this db to the same as development or production. test: adapter: sqlite3 database: db/test.sqlite3 pool: 5 timeout: 5000 production: adapter: sqlite3 database: db/production.sqlite3 pool: 5 timeout: 5000 To make things more confusing, I only get that "pg adapter" error on the first load. For every subsequent page request, I get this error: ActiveRecord::ConnectionNotEstablished So even though I removed all mention of PostgreSQL, I'm still getting errors. What could be going on?

  • Is it possible to make/translate a 3d engine to ruby on rails?

    - by user20529
I am looking to make a 3D FPS that runs inside web browsers. I looked into using WebGL, but it didn't seem far enough along into development. I decided on using RoR because Ruby was a language I knew. I realize this may seem like a ridiculous question, but is there any way I can port/rewrite/whatever a game engine(Say for instance IrrLicht) to run inside Rails? Or for that matter, any other language on the web.

I'm learning Ruby on Rails for a new project of mine. I am referring the book 'Agile Web Development with Rails' which shows how to build a shopping cart and they use scaffolding. I'm pretty familiar with MVC architecture and have used several frameworks in PHP to build applications. I've never used scaffolding and I'm not sure if that's the best way to start building an application. Experienced users, please suggest if I should be using scaffolding or should I code manually.

  • Is possible to create an intranet site in Ruby on Rails? [closed]

    - by Akromyk
I'm just coming out of a .Net course and I'm wondering whether it is possible to create an intranet site using Ruby on Rails, and if so, would it even be a good idea. I plan on creating a web site for a vendor that hopes to open up a physical location and it would be beneficial for us to go with a technology that could tie their web front into their intranet for helping them manage orders and logins, but at the same time still have a low cost.

  • How to process a .proto file using protobuf-net

    - by JustSmith
I have stated using the protobuf-net lib to communication between some of the programs I'm maintaining. I have also been able to decode messages from C# to Ruby. My ruby ProtoBuf lib is using a .proto file to generate the ruby code. In the interest of having to make changes in as few places as possible I would like to have protobuf-net use the same .proto file. Looking though the protobuf-net folders there is a Dll named ProtoBufGenerator and the protobuf exe but I cant find any instructions on if I can make protobuf-net work this way. Is this possible?

  • Rails 2.3.4 Vs Rails 3 + Book - Beginner in RoR

    - by zengr
Hi, I have started with Ruby and Rails development and I am a Java developer from the last 2 years (student). I am in for two things: Learn Ruby Make my website on ROR I have Agile Web Development with Rails, 2nd Edition. So, here are my questions: How is the Agile Web Development with Rails book to start with, where I don't know anything about Ruby and proficient with Java. What is the difference between 2nd and 3rd edition? People say the changes are irrelevant for a starter, how far is that statement correct? Should I start with Rails 2.3.4 or Rails 3 (around the corner)?

  • has_many :through when join table doesn't contain FK to both tables

    - by seth.vargo
I have a structure that isn't really a has_many :through example, but I'd like it to behave like one: # user.rb belongs_to :blog has_many :posts # post.rb belongs_to :user # blog.rb has_many :users has_many :posts, :through => :users # this obviously doesn't work becase # both FKs aren't in the blogs table I want to get ALL posts for a blog in an array. I'm aware that I can do this with Ruby using each or getting fancy with collect, but I'd like to let SQL do the work. Can someone explain how I can set up my models in a way that lets me call @blog.posts using SQL, not Ruby? Edit: I know in SQL I can write something like: SELECT * FROM posts WHERE posts.user_id IN ( SELECT users.id FROM users WHERE users.blog_id = 7 ) which obviously shows two queries are needed. I don't think this is possible with a join, but I'm not totally sure. It's obvious that a subquery is needed, but how do I get rails to build that subquery with ARel instead of having to return and use Ruby to loop and collect and such?

  • How do (or can I) hack a gem temporarily while looking for a bug?

    - by Tom Andersen
I have a gem installed in my home directory on a laptop (eg not THE server). I have installed ruby 1.9.1 and also some other gems, notably right_aws - which allows access to s3, etc with ruby. All works, except there is a bug when I do a query on SimpleDB, and the returned list of items includes an item with any two byte utf-8 character in its itemName(). So I look through the sources of the right_aws gem installed on my machine, and I can see some places where I would like to test a fix. If I edit the file, save changes, (needing a password), then restart the server (script/server), it ignores my changes. I am quite new at ruby - do you have to 'compile' or other similar move to get the source code changes made take effect? I can see the edited file is changed by viewing it in terminal, etc.

  • How do I fix issue causing "incomplete startup packet" log message trying to implement replication in Postgresql?

    - by colour me brad
I've got two cloud servers running Ubuntu 13.04 and PostgreSQL 9.2. I've primarily used this blog post to aid me in setting things up. However, to do the initial database dump to the slave I'm using pg_start_backup/pg_stop_backup strategy used in this other blog post. I've read through the docs and postgres wikis as well. I ran into several problems I was able to solve, but I can't get past this wretched "the database is starting up" failure. I'm not sure if seeing "cp: cannot stat '/var/lib/postgresql/9.2/archive/00000001000000000000003A': No such file or directory" after "consistent recover state reached" is normal or the first sign of a problem. The searching I've done on "the database is starting up" and "incomplete startup packet" tells me that something is sending empty TCP packets to the slave. The only thing that even knows about the slave is the master, so I'm not sure why it's sending empty packets... Has anyone worked with this and have an idea what might be going wrong? The postgres log on the slave looks like so: 2013-08-26 13:01:38 CDT LOG: entering standby mode 2013-08-26 13:01:38 CDT LOG: restored log file "000000010000000000000039" from archive 2013-08-26 13:01:38 CDT LOG: incomplete startup packet 2013-08-26 13:01:39 CDT LOG: redo starts at 0/39000020 2013-08-26 13:01:39 CDT LOG: consistent recovery state reached at 0/390000E0 cp: cannot stat '/var/lib/postgresql/9.2/archive/00000001000000000000003A': No such file or directory 2013-08-26 13:01:39 CDT LOG: streaming replication successfully connected to primary 2013-08-26 13:01:39 CDT FATAL: the database system is starting up 2013-08-26 13:01:39 CDT FATAL: the database system is starting up 2013-08-26 13:01:40 CDT FATAL: the database system is starting up 2013-08-26 13:01:40 CDT FATAL: the database system is starting up 2013-08-26 13:01:41 CDT FATAL: the database system is starting up 2013-08-26 13:01:42 CDT FATAL: the database system is starting up 2013-08-26 13:01:42 CDT FATAL: the database system is starting up 2013-08-26 13:01:43 CDT FATAL: the database system is starting up 2013-08-26 13:01:43 CDT FATAL: the database system is starting up 2013-08-26 13:01:44 CDT FATAL: the database system is starting up 2013-08-26 13:01:44 CDT FATAL: the database system is starting up 2013-08-26 13:01:44 CDT LOG: incomplete startup packet 2013-08-26 13:03:27 CDT FATAL: the database system is starting up 2013-08-26 13:03:27 CDT FATAL: the database system is starting up 2013-08-26 13:03:30 CDT FATAL: the database system is starting up 2013-08-26 13:03:30 CDT FATAL: the database system is starting up thanks! brad

  • PostgreSQL pg_hba.conf with "password" auth wouldn't work with PHP pg_connect?

    - by tftd
I've recently experimented with the settings in pg_hba.conf. I read the PostgreSQL documentation and I though that the "password" auth method is what I want. There are many people that have access to the server PostgreSQL is working on so I don't want the "trust" method. So I changed it. But then PHP stopped working with the database. The message I get is "Warning: pg_connect(): Unable to connect to PostgreSQL server: FATAL: password authentication failed for user "myuser" in /my/path/to/connection/class.php on line 35". It is kind of strange because I can connect via phppgadmin without any problems and also I can connect from my home computer with psql - again without any problems. This is my pg_hba.conf: # TYPE DATABASE USER CIDR-ADDRESS METHOD # "local" is for Unix domain socket connections only local all all password # IPv4 local connections: host all all 127.0.0.1/32 password # IPv6 local connections: host all all ::1/128 password The connection string I'm using with pg_conenct is: $connect_string = "host=localhost port=5432 dbname=mydbname user=auser password=apassword"; $dbConnection = pg_connect($connection_string); Does anybody know why is this happening ? Did I misconfigured something ?
