• Change jQuery slider option dynamically based on window width

  I would like to change a jQuery option based on window width (on load as well as on resize). I've found solutions close to what I need, but I don't understand jQuery or javascript enough to customize them for my needs. • Pin WPF window on the desktop in Windows 7

  I want to pin a WPF window on the desktop (it should be a desktop gadget). I know you can do this by setting the parent handle of the WPF window to the handle of the "progman" window. But this does not prevent the hiding of the WPF window when "Windows + D" is pressed. There must be another way do to this. The new desktop gadgets in Windows 7 are not hidden when "Windows + D" is pressed. How did the MS developers achieve this?

The element's relative position within it's parent is all I can seem to get to, and what I'm trying to get to is the point relative to the window.   Hi I am wondering is this normal when you add this into your web.config <location path="." inheritInChildApplications="false"> </location> The debugger should stop working. Like when I add this to my site and try to run in debug mode it won't activate any of my debug points nor will it lock up Visual studios 2008. I can have it running and still make edits to my C# code. I take the line away and I get the debug mode back and it locks up VS2008.

• best way to use CoreLocation across multiple views

  I have two views in my app, one is a general view where CoreLocation works away calculating the users location while the user is doing other stuff in the view. The second view is accessed by the user when they touch a button allowing them to locate themselves more accurately using a mapview and MapKit, i would like the mapview in this view to show the location that CoreLocation has already identified in the first view AND to continue displaying this location based on updates from CoreLocation in the other view. Is the best way here to create a singleton that encapsulates the CoreLocation stuff and have this referenced in the view with the map, or to use notifications ? or to use some other better practice for my scenario ? • Android: how to have app talk to a web page, ie send gps location

  I'm trying to write a app, where a webpage will have a button that when press will give the GPS location of the phone. I was going to have the android app create a thread that waits on a scket connection. The issue is that 1. Getting the ip addrs of the phone 2. I was told this would really drain the battery I was also thinking about having the phone send the gps location to a webserver like evrry 10 seconds. This sort of seams like a waste of bandwidth. Is there a good way to do this?

• Matplotlib Contour Clabel Location

  I would like to control the location of matplotlib clabels on a contour plot, but without utilizing the manual=True flag in clabel. For example, I would like to specify an x-coordinate, and have labels created at the points that pass through this line. I see that you can get the location of the individual labels using get_position(), but I am stuck at that. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks! EDIT: The above image is an example plot that I would like to apply this method to. The default label positions are inconvenient -- the flat areas between Day 2 and Day 4 would be more visually appealing.

• How to prevent windows from being resized?

  Adobe Audition is really stupid in that when you change the size of the window, and then change it back to the original size, all the frame positions are lost and you have to tediously reposition them by hand. I'd like to make it completely impossible to ever resize the window, just keep it maximized at all times. If I accidentally click "Restore" or drag the title bar, it should either ignore it, or move around the screen while staying the same size. Is there any way to do this?

Unfortuanately, that now places them out of the viewable area of my screens! Is there some way to force a particular window into the viewable area? If it matters at all, this is on Windows XP 32b.

  When opening a new window in finder, the new window will go below the screen. This is not a big deal, but when using macvim or terminal it can be annoying since your command prompt is now hidden. Firefox seems to be smarter, it never overlaps below the screen. Same deal for the right hand side of the screen, windows often open with their right edge cut off. Is there any way to prevent this?

• Moving a game in windowed mode that can't be dragged by the title bar.

  I have Fallout Collection and I am trying to run it windowed because of the low resolution. When I change the mode to windowed via the .ini file, however, it boots the game window shoved into the upper left corner of my screen. I can't click the title bar of the window because it just clicks back into the game program. So how can I move it to the center of my screen? I am using Windows 7 professional 64-bit.

  I use a custom Gtk theme along with the default Ambiance window controls. Using my theme, the Unity panel shows its very ugly default buttons when my window is maximized. Since I have the same window theme, I am assuming this comes from the Gtk theme. I tried copying and pasting a few things from Ambiance's gtkrc, but nothing has stuck so far.   Simply stated, I am trying to make a game I am working on full-screen. My understanding of JPanel is that it is a Window of sorts, but I cannot pass 'this' into gs.setFullScreenWindow(Window win)... How should I go about doing this? Is there any easy way of calling that, or a similar method, using a JPanel? What I am having trouble with is echoing out and combining the two functions in order to have it auto sort both the states and the cities within and forming the needed optgroups. I tried copying the lines for the cities and changing the names called several ways to no avail.

  I am setting up a small network and i am stuck at rerouting the Links folder on Windows 7. What i am trying to accomplish is to keep some particular directories stored on a server and all client computers will actually link to those folders, one of which is the Links folder. I took a look at the registry and found most of the things in : HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\User Shell Folders But the Links folder isn't there so im wondering if it's possible to sync that folder over several PCs too without moving all the user directories to the server Any hint is appreciated!

• Testing home directory scripts by setting $HOME to the location of the test directory

  I have an interdependent collection of scripts in my ~/bin directory as well as a developed ~/.vim directory and some other libraries and such in other subdirectories. I've been versioning all of this using git, and have realized that it would be potentially very easy and useful to do development and testing of new and existing scripts, vim plugins, etc. using a cloned repo, and then pull the working code into my actual home directory with a merge. The easiest way to do this would seem to be to just change & export $HOME, eg cd ~/testing; git clone ~ home export HOME=~/testing/home cd ~ screen -S testing-home # start vim, write/revise plugins, edit scripts, etc. # test revisions However since I've never tried this before I'm concerned that some programs, environment variables, etc., may end up using my actual home directory instead of the exported one. Is this a viable strategy? Are there just a few outliers that I should be careful about? Is there a much better way to do this sort of thing?

• Follow cursor location from kile to evince.

  I know the title is probably not very clear, so I'll try to be as clear as possible here. I'm running xubuntu on my netbook, and I'm using kile for my latex editing. Since kile is native to kde, I had to manually set it to open pdfs and dvis on evince instead of okular. Now, last time I played around with LaTeX I was using TeXnic center on windows, and it had a very neat feature. Whenever I hit "QuickBuild", not only would it open the output .dvi file, but it would also show me exactly the piece of text I was editing. That is, if I were editing line 13 of the 7th of my document, when I compiled it, the dvi viewer would automatically take me to line 13 on the 7th page of the document, so I wouldn't have to scroll all the way down to it every time I compiled the .tex file. I'm guessing this is a pretty standard feature, and kile probably supports it. But since I don't know what it's called, I'm trying to be clear as to what I'm talking about. Problem is, this feature is not working for me right now, and I'm guessing it's either because evince does not support it, or because I have to manually configure it. Which one is it? And how do I manually configure it, if that's the case?
