  • Detecting when a handler couldn't be started when embedding Jetty

    I'm embedding Jetty in a similar manner as described here. When the RequestLogHandler can't open the specified logfile, it throws an exception which is unfortunately caught by org.eclipse.jetty.server.Server and swallowed (but logged first, at least). This means that there's no obvious way for me to tell if the log handler was started correctly. Is there a way that I'm missing to detect when a handler couldn't start?

I program mostly in C++ so I find the website http://www.cplusplus.com/ invaluable and there's rarely a day when it is not open in my browser!   • Fast ruby http library for large XML downloads

    I am consuming various XML-over-HTTP web services returning large XML files ( 2MB). What would be the fastest ruby http library to reduce the 'downloading' time? Required features: both GET and POST requests gzip/deflate downloads (Accept-Encoding: deflate, gzip) - very important I am thinking between: open-uri Net::HTTP curb but you can also come with other suggestions. P.S. To parse the response, I am using a pull parser from Nokogiri, so I don't need an integrated solution like rest-client or hpricot.

  • Winforms ComboBox does not expand when clicked, any ideas?

    Hi everybody, A ComboBox within a Form (modal dialog) does not open when clicked, however an item can be selected by using the up/down arrow keys. After clicking on another window and the back on the dialog, the ComboBox works as expected, i.e. expands on click. Weird... any ideas what could be causing this behavior?     Hello, I want to create an iPad app that would have a simple view at launch with buttons to different components of the app. Each button then could open up a splitviewcontroller type views. (Interface similar to WebMD: http://itunes.apple.com/us/app/webmd-for-ipad/id373185673?mt=8) I was reading online that Apple does not allow splitviewcontroller inside other controllers (like NavigationController). I'm used to using the system.net/mailSettings approach, but as I understand it, that only allows one SMTP connection definition at a time, used by SmtpClient(). However, I need more of a connectionStrings-like approach, where I can pull a set of settings based on a key/name. Any recommendations? I'm open to skipping the tradintional SmtpClient/mailSettings approach, and I think will have to...

    There are plenty of ways to fold code in Emacs and I've settled in on using the outline minor mode... it works great! However, I really want my folding to be persisted when I close and re-open files. It is quite frustrating to have folding set up in a file the way I like it, only to have that lost when I restart Emacs. Has anyone found a way to keep the folding state of a file persistent?

I can open the Admin website if I use a browser running on the server by browsing to: http:// localhost:4848/ I would like to access it from a remote machine by browsing to something like http:// mydomain.com:4848/ The firewall is definitely allowing traffic through on that port (4848) and I can access the application server by browsing to: http:// mydomain.com:8080/ How can I allow remote access to the administration website?
