• Best way to gather, then import data into drupal?

  I am building my first database driven website with Drupal and I have a few questions. I am currently populating a google docs excel spreadsheet with all of the data I want to eventually be able to query from the website (after it's imported). Is this the best way to start? If this is not the best way to start what would you recommend? My plan is to populate the spreadsheet then import it as a csv into the mysql db via the CCK Node. I've seen two ways to do this. http://drupal.org/node/133705 (importing data into CCK nodes) http://drupal.org/node/237574 (Inserting data using spreadsheet/csv instead of SQL insert statements) Basically my question(s) is what is the best way to gather, then import data into drupal? • How do you keep track of what you have released in production?

  Tipically a deploy in production does not involve just a mere source code update (build) but requires a lot of other important tasks like for example: Db scripts (tables, query..) Configuration files (differents from test\production) Batch to schedule Executables to move to the correct path Etc. etc. In our company we just send an email to a "Release email address" describing the tasks in order, which changeset need to be published (TFS), which SP need to be updated, db scripts and so on. I believe there's not a magic tool that does these tasks automagically in order, rollback included; but probably there's something better than email that helps to keep track of releases in production. Do you have any tools to suggest or practices to share?

• Getting a value from a row at particular time

  I had a row in my database: starttime:4/6/2012 2:00pm, Endtime:31/12/9999, name:"swetha", status:"open"..... When I update this row I changed the starttime to the current time (getdate()) and have no issues. I am running a Windows Service each day at 1am to modify a value in the row. I would like to know the status of my row at 4/6/2012 11:59 pm when my service runs. There is no need to do an update at 4/6/2012 11:59 pm and the last update may be at any time of the day however my requirement is to get the status value at 4/6/2012 11:59 pm. I would like to have the query in SQL Server 2008. Can anyone please help me to find a solution?

  I hope this is blindingly obvious: I'm looking for the fastest way to replace a repeating element in a string with the elements in a given array, e.g. for SQL queries and parameter replacement. $query = "SELECT * FROM a WHERE b = ? AND c = ?"; $params = array('bee', 'see'); Here I would like to replace the instances of ? with the corresponding ordered array elements, as so: SELECT * FROM a WHERE b = 'bee' and c = 'see' I see that this might be done using preg_replace_callback, but is this the fastest way or am I missing something obvious?

  How should I go about writing a backwards like statement using NHibernate criteria? WHERE 'somestring' LIKE [Property] + '%' Sub Question: Can you access the abstract root alias in a SQLCriterion expression? This is somewhat achievable using the SQLCriterion expression Expression.Sql("? like {alias}.[Property] + '.%'", value, NHibernateUtil.String); However, in the case of class inheritance, {alias} is replaced with the incorrect alias for the column. Example (these classes are stored in separate tables): public abstract class Parent { public virtual string Property { get; set; } } public class Child : Parent { } The above query executed with Child as the root type will replace {alias} with the alias to the Child table rather than the Parent table. This results in an invalid column exception. I need to execute a like statement as above where the property exists on the parent table rather than on the root type table.

Then I would like to use the values of the selected values of the dropdownlist to call another PHP page in which I will generate a db query. I must loop on my folder list (mysql table), and for each folder I instanciate I must do another query, but when I do this it says : "There is already an open DataReader associated with this Connection" and I am inside a mysqlreader loop already. • Getting "select permission denied" when using LINQ but my account is a sysadmin

  I have a console app that's geared to be automatically ran as a Scheduled Task. I use LINQ to SQL to pull some data out of the database, format it into a CSV and email it to a client. All of a sudden I am getting the error "SELECT permission denied for table", but the account I'm using to connect to the database (specified in my app.config file) has the "sysadmin" server role (bad programmer, I know; I'll get around to changing it to a better account later but I want to make sure it works first). I can connect directly to the SQL database using that very same account and query the table in question without a problem, it only seems to be when using the LINQ code. Any idea what would be causing this?

• DNS Lookup in simple C#/asp.net ajax call is extremely slow

  I'm running this out of the VS 2008 debugger on Windows 7, running .Net 3.5. The idea was to make all ajax requests with jQuery only, rather than .net, following some tutorials online. Default.aspx - HTML page, jquery triggers method in Default.aspx.cs http://pastebin.com/pxBvKA2H Default.aspx.cs - C# Webform, just defines a GetDate fuction, which only returns a string for now (trying to eliminate any possible issues) (can only post one hyperlink...) pastebin.com/pnHn50hu The ajax query takes longer than it should. Profiling with firebug revealed that it took 1.03 ms. 1s DNS Lookup | 26ms Waiting | 1ms Receiving EDIT: It continues to take the same set of times if you continue to click and resubmit the request. Is there anything I can do to cut down on the DNS Lookup time / what did I do wrong? Thanks for any help.

For some reason, Net::HTTP is requested, and I never get in touch with the server, so I end up with an EOF. Any clues?

  I've just integrated RestKit with a Mac application for communicating with a web service. After much confusion, I have successfully got requests and responses working using it. The problem I am now finding is that when I want to make a POST request. I have created a RKRequestDescriptor with a mapping for a whole number of properties and all of the properties are being sent as parameters for the query. I want a way of dynamically changing the parameters that are sent, for example not sending some parameters where the property is nil. Is this possible as part of the built-in functionality of RestKit? And if so, how?

  I'm writing sql to search a database by a number of parameters. How would I go about ordering the result set by the items that match the most parameters in the where clause. • Kohana v3, escape illegal characters?

  Quick question, does Kohana (version 3) automatically escape data that is passed into ORM::factory..... (and everywhere else that has to do with the database)? For example: $thread = ORM::factory('thread', $this->request->param('id')); Would the data passed in the second argument be auto-escaped before it goes in the SQL query or do I have to manually do it? Probably a stupid question and it's better to be safe than sorry, but yeah... I usually do manually escape the data, but I want to know if Kohana does this for me? Thanks

• How to send reminder notifications to subscribers for renewal from SQL Server 2005?

  I have a table in SQL DB, namely dbo.subscribers, it contains following columns: -SubscriberID -JoinDateTime The business logic says a subscription last for 2 weeks and a reminder should be sent after 7 days from the JoinDateTime. The way that the system was designed to send reminders are via a URL call, e.g. http://xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx/renew_userid=SubscriberID/ and that can only be called from our webserver which is the only whitelisted IP machines given. Currently there is a windows service written to query the DB once a day at midnight to grab all expiring subscribers and send them reminders, however this batch approach only sends reminders to the nearest date, well, I could have set the interval down from 1 day to 1 hour such that the service can send notifications out closer to the exact JoinDateTime + 7 days requirements. I have heard a stored procedure can be written and perform task like this to a nearly real-time manner, if yes, please give me some hints on how to do it. Another question is - is SSRS bit of an overkill to perform things like this? Please advice. TIA

  Do JSON documents in RavenDB cost more than the SQL Server tables in terms of the storage and query costs. And also for centralized access, which one is better? What are the disadvantages of NON-SQL databases like RavenDB,CouchDB,MongoDB, etc... ? I can get that some of these are open source and support more datatypes like enums,objects,etc. but otherwise i don't see any big advantage? Currently there is a problem of storing huge amount of logs from various locations. I am planning to suggest these to my manager so just need a clear idea.

The data of database a*(a.accdb)* and database b*(b.accdb)* are different. then in database a i have for example ID:1, 2, 3 and in database B i Have ID:4,5,6 Then i need merge these databases data in only one database(a or b, doesn't matter) so the final database looks like. ID:1,2,3,4,5,6 I search an easy way to do this. because i have many tables. and do this by union query is so tedious. I search for example for a backup option for only data without scheme as in postgreSQl or many others RDBMS, but i don't see this options in access 2007. pd:only just table could be duplicate values(i guess that pk doesn't allow copy a duplicate value and all others values will be copied well). if i wrong please correct me. thanks for your help.

When I insert the new item appears after the last created item, but I want it to be entered at the bottom of the table.   I have a database table that is a dictionary of defined terms -- key, value. I want to load the dictionary in the application scope from the database, and keep it there for performance (it doesn't change). I gather this is probably some sort of "struct," but I'm extremely new to ColdFusion (helping out another team).   I'm trying to output the results of a SELECT query to a tab delimited text file in Advantage Data Architect. I know I can use the 'Export to' feature to do this, but there are a lot of tables and that is going to take forever. I would rather use the SQL editor, but I found out it does not accept the OUTPUT TO argument, even though that command is part of Sybase SQL. I would like to do this: SELECT * FROM tablename; OUTPUT TO 'C:/ExportDirectory' DELIMITED BY '\t' FORMAT TEXT; Is there another way?

  I'm querying an underlying PostgreSQL database using Pandas 0.8. Pandas is returning the DataFrame properly but the underlying timestamp column in my database is being returned as a generic "object" type in Pandas. As I would eventually like to seasonal normalization of my data I am curious as to how to convert this generic "object" column to something that is appropriate for analysis.
