  • Scroll to anchor after jquery.load

    - by Vitaly
There's placeholder on the page that is loaded asynchronously using jQuery load method. Page URL might have anchor and I want to scroll to the anchor after content is loaded. What is the best way to do that? Problem is similar to this: http://forum.jquery.com/topic/goto-anchor-after-load But I don't like the solution. May be someone has and better ideas on this?

  • FileSystemWatcher vs Polling to watch for changes

    - by Jon Tackabury
I need to setup an application that watches for files being created in a folder (locally or on a network drive) and I was wondering if anyone has any thoughts on whether the FileSystemWatcher or polling on a timer would be the best option. I have used both methods in the past, but not extensively. Have you run into any issues (performance, reliability... etc) with either method? I know there isn't a "right way" to do this, I'm just looking opinions.

  • Unable to rename file with c# ftp methods when current user directory is different from root

    - by Agata
Hello everyone, Remark: due to spam prevention mechanizm I was forced to replace the beginning of the Uris from ftp:// to ftp. I've got following problem. I have to upload file with C# ftp method and afterwards rename it. Easy, right? :) Ok, let's say my ftp host is like this: ftp.contoso.com and after logging in, current directory is set to: users/name So, what I'm trying to achieve is to log in, upload file to current directory as file.ext.tmp and after upload is successful, rename the file to file.ext The whole difficulty is, as I guess, to properly set the request Uri for FtpWebRequest. MSDN states: The URI may be relative or absolute. If the URI is of the form "ftp://contoso.com/%2fpath" (%2f is an escaped '/'), then the URI is absolute, and the current directory is /path. If, however, the URI is of the form "ftp://contoso.com/path", first the .NET Framework logs into the FTP server (using the user name and password set by the Credentials property), then the current directory is set to UserLoginDirectory/path. Ok, so I upload file with the following URI: ftp.contoso.com/file.ext.tmp Great, the file lands where I wanted it to be: in directory "users/name" Now, I want to rename the file, so I create web request with following Uri: ftp.contoso.com/file.ext.tmp and specify rename to parameter as: file.ext and this gives me 550 error: file not found, no permissions, etc. I traced this in Microsoft Network Monitor and it gave me: Command: RNFR, Rename from CommandParameter: /file.ext.tmp Ftp: Response to Port 53724, '550 File /file.ext.tmp not found' as if it was looking for the file in the root directory - not in the current directory. I renamed the file manually using Total Commander and the only difference was that CommandParameter was without the first slash: CommandParameter: file.ext.tmp I'm able to successfully rename the file by supplying following absolute URI: ftp.contoso.com/%2fusers/%2fname/file.ext.tmp but I don't like this approach, since I would have to know the name of current user's directory. It can probably be done by using WebRequestMethods.Ftp.PrintWorkingDirectory, but it adds extra complexity (calling this method to retrieve directory name, then combining the paths to form proper URI). What I don't understand is why the URI ftp.contoso.com/file.ext.tmp is good for upload and not for rename? Am I missing something here? The project is set to .NET 4.0, coded in Visual Studio 2010.

  • Use Multiple jQuery and jQuery UI Libraries

    - by Seth Duncan
Is there a way to use multiple jQuery and jQuery UI Libraries in the same source? I know about noConflict and using multiple jQuery Libraries with this method, however is it possible to use multiple jQuery UI Libraries? Essentially I would like to use jQuery 1.2.6 and jQuery UI 1.6 together for a certain portion of the page that only works with those libraries and then for everything else use the latest jQuery Libraries of 1.4.2 and UI 1.8. Thanks, -Seth

  • WCF how to pass token for authentication?

    - by Kevin
I have a WCF service which would like to support basicHttpBinding and webHttpBinding. When the client successfully login, server will generate a token for client to pass to server on all the request make later. Question is how the client can pass the token to server? I don't want to add an extra parameter on every web method to hold the token.

  • Mootools in Rails

    - by trobrock
For my client side development I use MooTools primarily, I have also just recently started learning rails. What is the best method of using Mootools in rails pages? Just adding my code inline like I would any other server side language? Or is there a better and cleaner way to do things? Basically I'm asking the most conventional way of integrating Mootools into my rails application.

  • What might cause the big overhead of making a HttpWebRequest call?

    - by Dimitri C.
When I send/receive data using HttpWebRequest (on Silverlight, using the HTTP POST method) in small blocks, I measure the very small throughput of 500 bytes/s over a "localhost" connection. When sending the data in large blocks, I get 2 MB/s, which is some 5000 times faster. Does anyone know what could cause this incredibly big overhead? Update: I did the performance measurement on both Firefox 3.6 and Internet Explorer 7. Both showed similar results. Update: The Silverlight client-side code I use is essentially my own implementation of the WebClient class. The reason I wrote it is because I noticed the same performance problem with WebClient, and I thought that the HttpWebRequest would allow to tweak the performance issue. Regrettably, this did not work. The implementation is as follows: public class HttpCommChannel { public delegate void ResponseArrivedCallback(object requestContext, BinaryDataBuffer response); public HttpCommChannel(ResponseArrivedCallback responseArrivedCallback) { this.responseArrivedCallback = responseArrivedCallback; this.requestSentEvent = new ManualResetEvent(false); this.responseArrivedEvent = new ManualResetEvent(true); } public void MakeRequest(object requestContext, string url, BinaryDataBuffer requestPacket) { responseArrivedEvent.WaitOne(); responseArrivedEvent.Reset(); this.requestMsg = requestPacket; this.requestContext = requestContext; this.webRequest = WebRequest.Create(url) as HttpWebRequest; this.webRequest.AllowReadStreamBuffering = true; this.webRequest.ContentType = "text/plain"; this.webRequest.Method = "POST"; this.webRequest.BeginGetRequestStream(new AsyncCallback(this.GetRequestStreamCallback), null); this.requestSentEvent.WaitOne(); } void GetRequestStreamCallback(IAsyncResult asynchronousResult) { System.IO.Stream postStream = webRequest.EndGetRequestStream(asynchronousResult); postStream.Write(requestMsg.Data, 0, (int)requestMsg.Size); postStream.Close(); requestSentEvent.Set(); webRequest.BeginGetResponse(new AsyncCallback(this.GetResponseCallback), null); } void GetResponseCallback(IAsyncResult asynchronousResult) { HttpWebResponse response = (HttpWebResponse)webRequest.EndGetResponse(asynchronousResult); Stream streamResponse = response.GetResponseStream(); Dim.Ensure(streamResponse.CanRead); byte[] readData = new byte[streamResponse.Length]; Dim.Ensure(streamResponse.Read(readData, 0, (int)streamResponse.Length) == streamResponse.Length); streamResponse.Close(); response.Close(); webRequest = null; responseArrivedEvent.Set(); responseArrivedCallback(requestContext, new BinaryDataBuffer(readData)); } HttpWebRequest webRequest; ManualResetEvent requestSentEvent; BinaryDataBuffer requestMsg; object requestContext; ManualResetEvent responseArrivedEvent; ResponseArrivedCallback responseArrivedCallback; } I use this code to send data back and forth to an HTTP server.

  • Function to Calculate Median in Sql Server

    - by Yaakov Ellis
According to MSDN, Median is not available as an aggregate function in Transact-Sql. However, I would like to find out whether it is possible to create this functionality (using the Create Aggregate function, user defined function, or some other method). What would be the best way (if possible) to do this - allow for the calculation of a median value (assuming a numeric data type) in an aggregate query?

  • PopulateOnDemand does not work on data bound ASP.Net TreeView

    - by Shay Friedman
Hi, I have a TreeView that is bound to a XmlDataSource control. I've added some TreeNodeBinding elements to define how I want the XML data to be shown. I have also added PopulateOnDemand=true to these TreeNodeBindings. However, doing so didn't change a thing and the entire XML tree is displayed. Moreover, the TreeNodePopulate event is not fired on node expand as well. Important information: I'm using ASP.NET 4. This is an example that reproduces the problem (very straight forward): <%@ Page Language="C#" AutoEventWireup="true" %> <script type="text/C#" runat="server"> protected void TreeView1_TreeNodePopulate(Object sender, TreeNodeEventArgs e) { // This method is never called... } </script> <html xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml"> <head runat="server"> <title></title> </head> <body> <form id="form1" runat="server"> <div> <asp:TreeView ID="TreeView1" runat="server" DataSourceID="XmlDataSource1" OnTreeNodePopulate="TreeView1_TreeNodePopulate" ExpandDepth="0"> <DataBindings> <asp:TreeNodeBinding DataMember="#" TextField="#" ValueField="#" PopulateOnDemand="true" /> </DataBindings> </asp:TreeView> <asp:XmlDataSource ID="XmlDataSource1" runat="server" DataFile="Sample.xml" /> </div> </form> </body> </html> The Sample.xml can be any xml file you want, it doesn't really matter. I tried to put a breakpoint within the TreeView1_TreeNodePopulate method and it was never hit. I also tried to: Set a TreeNodeBinding for each possible data member with PopulateOnDemand="true". Via code, go through all tree nodes and set their PopulateOnDemand property to true. Nothing worked. The only way the populate-on-demand thing worked was when I added nodes manually to the nodes instead of binding it to a data source. What am I doing wrong?

  • AVAudioRecorder Memory Leak

    - by Eric Ranschau
I'm hoping someone out there can back me up on this... I've been working on an application that allows the end user to record a small audio file for later playback and am in the process of testing for memory leaks. I continue to very consistently run into a memory leak when the AVAudioRecorder's "stop" method attempts to close the audio file to which it's been recording. This really seems to be a leak in the framework itself, but if I'm being a bonehead you can tell me. To illustrate, I've worked up a stripped down test app that does nothing but start/stop a recording w/ the press of a button. For the sake of simplicty, everything happens in app. delegate as follows: @synthesize audioRecorder, button; @synthesize window; - (BOOL) application:(UIApplication *)application didFinishLaunchingWithOptions:(NSDictionary *)launchOptions { // create compplete path to database NSString *tempPath = NSTemporaryDirectory(); NSString *audioFilePath = [tempPath stringByAppendingString:@"/customStatement.caf"]; // define audio file url NSURL *audioFileURL = [[NSURL alloc] initFileURLWithPath:audioFilePath]; // define audio recorder settings NSDictionary *settings = [[NSDictionary alloc] initWithObjectsAndKeys: [NSNumber numberWithInt:kAudioFormatAppleIMA4], AVFormatIDKey, [NSNumber numberWithInt:1], AVNumberOfChannelsKey, [NSNumber numberWithInt:AVAudioQualityLow], AVSampleRateConverterAudioQualityKey, [NSNumber numberWithFloat:44100], AVSampleRateKey, [NSNumber numberWithInt:8], AVLinearPCMBitDepthKey, nil ]; // define audio recorder audioRecorder = [[AVAudioRecorder alloc] initWithURL:audioFileURL settings:settings error:nil]; [audioRecorder setDelegate:self]; [audioRecorder setMeteringEnabled:YES]; [audioRecorder prepareToRecord]; // define record button button = [UIButton buttonWithType:UIButtonTypeRoundedRect]; [button addTarget:self action:@selector(handleTouch_recordButton) forControlEvents:UIControlEventTouchUpInside]; [button setFrame:CGRectMake(110.0, 217.5, 100.0, 45.0)]; [button setTitle:@"Record" forState:UIControlStateNormal]; [button setTitle:@"Stop" forState:UIControlStateSelected]; // configure the main view controller UIViewController *viewController = [[UIViewController alloc] init]; [viewController.view addSubview:button]; // add controllers to window [window addSubview:viewController.view]; [window makeKeyAndVisible]; // release [audioFileURL release]; [settings release]; [viewController release]; return YES; } - (void) handleTouch_recordButton { if ( ![button isSelected] ) { [button setSelected:YES]; [audioRecorder record]; } else { [button setSelected:NO]; [audioRecorder stop]; } } - (void) dealloc { [audioRecorder release]; [button release]; [window release]; [super dealloc]; } The stack trace from Instruments that shows pretty clearly that the "closeFile" method in the AVFoundation code is leaking...something. You can see a screen shot of the Instruments session here: Developer Forums: AVAudioRecorder Memory Leak Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated!

  • can ServiceLocator.Current.GetInstance return null?

    - by mauricio076
I have this piece of code (or similar) in many of our views: private IEventAggregator eventAggregator; Constructor() { eventAggregator = ServiceLocator.Current.GetInstance<IEventAggregator>(); ... } I read from this post that ServiceLocator.Current can throw NullReferenceException (bad thing on a constructor) but I was wondering if the GetInstance<() method can return null (or some other inconsistent object) making eventAggregator dangerous to use later in other methods. NOTE: I'm quite new to MVVM and WPF

  • Clickable widgets in android

    - by Leif Andersen
The developer documentation has seemed to have failed me here. I can create a static widget without thinking, I can even create a widget like the analogue clock widget that will update itself, however, I can not for the life of me figure out how to create a widget that reacts to when a user clicks on it. Here is the best code sample that the developer documentation gives to what a widget activity should contain (the only other hint being the API demos, which only creates a static widget): public class ExampleAppWidgetProvider extends AppWidgetProvider { public void onUpdate(Context context, AppWidgetManager appWidgetManager, int[] appWidgetIds) { final int N = appWidgetIds.length; // Perform this loop procedure for each App Widget that belongs to this provider for (int i=0; i<N; i++) { int appWidgetId = appWidgetIds[i]; // Create an Intent to launch ExampleActivity Intent intent = new Intent(context, ExampleActivity.class); PendingIntent pendingIntent = PendingIntent.getActivity(context, 0, intent, 0); // Get the layout for the App Widget and attach an on-click listener to the button RemoteViews views = new RemoteViews(context.getPackageName(), R.layout.appwidget_provider_layout); views.setOnClickPendingIntent(R.id.button, pendingIntent); // Tell the AppWidgetManager to perform an update on the current App Widget appWidgetManager.updateAppWidget(appWidgetId, views); } } } from: The Android Developer Documentation's Widget Page So, it looks like pending intent is called when the widget is clicked, which is based off of an intent (I'm not quite sure what the difference between an intent and a pending intent is), and the intent is for the ExampleActivity class. So I made my sample activity class a simple activity that when created, would create a mediaplayer object, and start it (it wouldn't ever release the object, so it would eventually crash, here is it's code: @Override public void onCreate(Bundle savedInstanceState) { super.onCreate(savedInstanceState); MediaPlayer mp = MediaPlayer.create(getApplicationContext(), R.raw.sound); mp.start(); } However, when I added the widget to the home screen, and clicked on it, nothing played, in fact, nothing played when I set the update timer to just a few hundred milliseconds (in the appwidget provider xml file). Furthermore, I set break points and found out that not only was it never reaching the activity, but no break points I set would ever get triggered. (I still haven't figured out why that is), however, logcat seemed to indicate that the activity class file was being run. So, is there anything I can do to get an appwidget to respond to a click? As the onClickPendingIntent() method is the closest I have found to a onClick type of method. Thank you very much.
