• Conditional Required Attribute for validation

  We're trying to get a conditional attribute to work, case in point, there's a boolean (checkbox) that if checked, its related text is required. So, ideally we'd have something like ... public bool Provision { get; set; } [ConditionalRequirement(IsNeededWhenTrue = Provision)] public string ProvisionText { get; set; } Is this even possible?   I see some people write: //wordList is List<string> wordList.ForEach(delegate(string word){ Console.WriteLine(word);}); instead of: foreach(string word in wordList) { Console.WriteLine(word); } What is the advantage in doing so. Also I couldn't fathom the Action delegate syntax given above though I have used delegates in C# 2.0. Basically I am not able to relate the syntax with the concept of delegates I am familiar with. Can you please help me understand the syntax. Is it some shorthand?

• Sql Server XML-type column duplicate entry detection

  In Sql Server I am using an XML type column to store a message. I do not want to store duplicate messages. I only will have a few messages per user. I am currently querying the table for these messages, converting the XML to string in my C# code. I then compare the strings with what I am about to insert. Unfortunately, Sql Server pretty-prints the data in the XML typed fields. What you store into the database is not necessarily exactly the same string as what you get back out later. It is functionally equivalent, but may have white space removed, etc. Is there an efficient way to compare an XML string that I am considering inserting with those that are already in the database? As an aside, if I detect a duplicate I need to delete the older message then insert the replacement.

• removing the single quote from a list of

  I need to append/format a url with a list of ids for an api call however, when i put the list at the end of the api https://api.twitter.com/1.1/users/lookup.json?user_id=%s'%a i just get an empty string as a response. i have tried turning the list into a string and removing the square brackets doing a = str(followers['ids'])[1:-1] but i still get the same problem. and im assuming that its being caused by the single quote at the start. i have tried removing the apostrophe from the string doing a.replace("'", "") and now i have run out of ideas thanks

  Hi All, I'm trying to get a simple code working, unfortunatly im a python beginner.   In short, how to add minutes to a datetime from an integer located in another table, in one select statement, by joining them? I have a table P(int id, ..., int minutes) and a table S(int id, int p_id, datetime start) I want to generate a view that gives me PS(S.id, P.id, S.start + P.minutes) by joining S.p_id=P.id The problem is, if I was generating the query from the application, I can do stuff like: select datetime('2010-04-21 14:00', '+20 minutes'); 2010-04-21 14:20:00 By creating the string '+20 minutes' in the application and then passing it to sqlite. However I can't find a way to create this string in the select itself: select p.*,datetime(s.start_at, formatstring('+%s minutes', p.minutes)) from p,s where s.p_id=p.id; Because sqlite as far the documentation tells, does not provide any string format function, nor can I see any alternative way of expressing the date modifiers.

  I have a Excel Workbook that I use as a report template. I change the datasource on each pivot and datatable in a C# app. When I change the datatable datasource it tweeks the columns.   I have a .NET 3.5 assembly, a DAL, that connects to a database through Linq2SQL. I deploy this assembly in the GAC as it can be used by multiple business layers. The question is: in a dev environment I have a connection string different than the one in the production environment. Before deploying the assembly to the prod GAC I need to recompile it with the appropriate connection string. Is there any way to allow deploying the assembly to the GAC independently of the connection string, being that info read from some config? Thx in advance

• When can argv[0] have null ?

  What I have understand about passing arguments to main() from command line is that argc has a minimum value of 1 and argv[0] will always have the program name with its path in it. If arguments are provided at the command line, then argc will have a value greater than one and argv1 to argv[argc-1] will have those arguments. Now a paragraph at this link says that argv[0] will be a string containing the program's name or a null string if that is not available. Now, how and when can argv[0] have null string? I mean program name with its path will always be available so when can it be null? Writer says that "if that is not available" but when and how it is possible that program name will not be available?   Currently, I have a function template like this that converts a vector into a string (just a natural string, separating the elements with a comma): //the type T must be passable into std::to_string template<typename T> std::string vec_to_str(const std::vector<T> &vec); As you can see, this is only meant for vectors whose elements can be passed into the built-in std::to_string function (such as int, double, etc.) Is it considered a good practice to document with comments the allowed T? If not, what should I do? Is it possible to enforce this in a better way?

One thing I have to careful is that no matter what (Insert,update or delete) to the Application table the App_Status table should be unaffected means its a read only table which is maintained by the DBA internally and used only for lookup table. I am using JPA annotations so please suggest how to handle this.

  I want to reference a table cell via it's string ID in my code like this FindControl("tdAnswer_a") because I am manipulating string ID names. The ASPX code looks like this : <table>...<td ID="tdAnswer_a" runat="server" visible="true"> But FindControl is not able to find the table cell. When I reference it by ID like this : tdAnswer_a.Visible = true; in my codebehind, it has no problems. (This is not part of a repeater or gridview). How can I FindControl my table cells via string ID names?

This spreadsheet is generally static when it comes to column headers, but now the users want to be able to include an optional column (called Notes). My code crashes when I try to read the column from the spreadsheet if it doesn't exist.   This is a really basic regex question but since I can't seem to figure out why the match is failing in certain circumstances I figured I'd post it to see if anyone else can point out what I'm missing. • Java SOAP WSDL 1.1 message sending all the parameters (even future ones)

  I have to communicate with a SOAP Web Service defined in a WSDL 1.1. All the parameters are optional in the WSDL like: <xsd:element name="Submitter" type="xsd:string"/> but if I do not send them I get an error because the parameter was not sent, so instead I have to send an empty string for any parameter I do not intent to send. So instead of not sending the element I have to send: <Submitter></Submitter> The problem is that the WebService publisher does not have any problem adding new parameters at any point in time but I must sent at least an empty string for all the parameters. How may I call this WebService in Java so every time I call the WebService the WSDL is read so that all the parameters are sent having the parameters I care for are actually filled with the data I provide? I am currently using Apache CXF but I am open to anything to solve this problem.

  OK. What's wrong with my code? - (void)viewDidLoad { [super viewDidLoad]; lblResult = [UILabel alloc]; } - (void)viewWillAppear:(BOOL)animated { lblResult.text = @"BlahBlah"; } I linked lblResult to Label object in IB well. But the label only shows the default text. Where's my BlahBlah?? And when the default string I set in the IB actually set to lblResult?? The reason that BlahBlah string is not displyed is I guess because lblResult.text is over-written by default string specified from IB. Just my guess. Can anyone make me clear with that?
