  I'm writing some application in javascript and cannot figure it out how to access the variables declared in my function, inside this jquery parse. Inside I can access global variables, but I don't really want to create global vars for these values. Basically I want to extract file names from an xml document in the simulationFiles variable. I check if the node attribute is equal with the simName and extract the two strings inside the xml elements, that part I think it's working. • Https in java ends up with strange results

  I'm trying to illustrate to students how https is used in java. But i have the feeling my example is not really the best out there... The code works well on my windows 7: I start the server, go to https://localhost:8080/somefile.txt and i get asked to trust the certificate, and all goes well. When I try over http (before or after accepting the certificate) I just get a blank page, which is ok for me. BUT when I try the exact same thing on my windows XP: Same thing, all goes well. But then (after accepting the certificate first), I'm also able to get all the the files through http! (if I first try http before https followed by accepting the certificate, I get no answer..) I tried refreshing, hard refreshing a million times but this should not be working, right? Is there something wrong in my code? • Hiding ListViewItem based on a filter

  I want to hide some items based on a text filter in a ListView (WinForms). Basically the listview loads the items from a text file, and I don't want it to be read and/or written when the user searches the list. The search is done in a combobox's KeyDown event, but there is no "Visible" property of the ListViewItem. Is there any easy way to do this, WITHOUT re-reading the file? (as it is an XML file, and it could even contain thousands of items, it would be hard to search efficiently and even let the user use the application, as the search would take for minutes (mostly with the loading)).

• How can I work with paragraphs in Wordpress?

  Wordpress has a filter that automatically add paragraphs to posts. I can remove this by adding the followin code: // Remove the <p> tags which WP automatically inserts in psots. remove_filter ('the_content', 'wpautop'); The problem is that i removes <br /> tags as well. So I'm not removing this filter at the moment. My problem is that inside a DIV box, I get extra space above and below the text (at the start / end of text). I could manipulate the <p> tag in css, but again, that will affect all <p> tags throughout the post content. Any suggestions to what I should do?

  Have a simple console app where user is asked for several values to input. Input is read via console.readline(). Ex Name: Fred //string Lastname: Ashcloud //string Age: 28 //int I would like to make sure that int and double types are entered and if the user enters garbage, lets him repeat the procedure. Example, if the user enters "28 years old" where age expects int the app will crash. What is the best way to check for these inputs? I used to like JDOM for this purpose (in Java), but since JDOM doesn't support generics, it will be painful to work with in Scala. (Other XML libraries for Java have tended to be even more painful in Java, but I admit I don't know the landscape real well.)

• "paste" listener on a SWT widget

  I have an application with a SWT widget, say a org.eclipse.swt.widgets.Text, and want to add some control to the paste function. The idea is that if the user can paste a string of IDs, I detect that, run some code and paste the object that corresponds to the IDs. So I'm looking for some "ClipBoardListener" of some sort to add to my widget, but that doesnt seem to exist. A keylistener would only trap the pastes done by key and then you would have to deal with different key combos for pasting in different OS's. Based on this java 1.2 question I tried subclassing the text class and override the inser method, but that didnt work Exception in thread "main" org.eclipse.swt.SWTException: Subclassing not allowed Seemed like an ugly solution anyway.
