I think the title says it all.
There is this question, but there wasn't much of a response and the main answer was about being scammed!
I am away from home and need to reinstall Windows 7 on my laptop. Can I get the ISO anywhere and just use the key on the bottom of my laptop?!
We are having trouble adding our batch scripts to the new Windows 7 taskar.
Our batchfiles take some arguments and just execute other application based on those arguments .
To keep it simple, we created some shortcuts for our customers which they just need to click in order to get everything running.
The question here is: How can we pin those shortcuts or batch files to the taskbar?
(The customers aren't supposed to access the file system and that's why they can only see the taskbar)
How to Remote desktop connection from home to work in windows 7.I can remote desktop connection LAN network. But i can't access from home to work. What is RD gateway and how to use it?
I have two accounts on my Windows 7 box that I'd like to be able to switch between with a single shortcut key. I know I can create a script, create a shortcut and then assign a shortcut key but I have no idea what commands to use in the script.
OS X is 10.6.3. I create the partition with Boot Camp, insert the Windows 7 DVD, reboot, and that's what I get. I'm at loss.
When I press alt/option to bring up the boot disk selection screen, the Boot Camp partition isn't an option. I don't know if this is normal or an indication something's not quite right.
Whenever I drag or resize a window near any edge or corner of either monitor, Windows wants to maximize or resize the window for me in several different ways:
dragging a window near a corner offers resize to full-screen
dragging directly to the corner offers half-screen maximize
resizing to top or bottom edges offers a vertical maximize (one long strip from top to bottom)
Actually, now that I think about it the 3rd one isn't so bad, its just the full and half-screen maximize features that drives me mad.
Is there a registry hack to disable these settings, preferably independently?
Is there a program for hiding programs from taskbar to system tray? I was hoping that Windows 7 will be able to do it itself but I can't find it.
Thank you!
I haven't needed anything like this before but I'm sure something exists. I'm looking for a compiled Windows executable (i.e. noninterpreted language) that I don't need to write that can read the arguments passed in on the command line, open an TCP network socket to another machine, and pass the arguments along.
Has anyone used something like this before?
Windows now thinks that I have some sort of infrared mouse hooked up to my new TV Tuner (mouse properties show "human input device on eHome infrared" something or another).
How can I dissuade it of this crazy idea and force it to detect my regular old PS/2 mouse?
When I double click on My Computer, I can immediately see the Total size and Free space for internal and external HDDs, and inserted CD/DVD media, but in the same columns I cannot see these values for any USB flash drives. They are just empty. To see, I have to right click on USB drive letter, and select Properties. Is there a trick to make Windows XP display USB drive's Total size and Free space in My Computer window?
The title says it all. Here are a few of my favourites to get things started:
WINDOWS + BREAK - System Properties
CTRL + SHIFT + ESC - Task Manager
SHIFT + F10 - Context Menu (on keyboards without a CM key)
And general text selection:
HOME/END - Go to the start/end of the current line
CTRL + HOME/END - Go to the start/end of the document
CTRL + LEFT/RIGHT - Skip entire words
SHIFT + CTRL + LEFT/RIGHT - Select entire words
Edit: Just remembered this one
SHIFT + DEL - Delete file (skip recycle bin)
The Indexing Service filter daemon keeps crashing on my Windows XP Pro machine, with the following error message:
Indexing Service filter daemon has encountered a problem and needs to close.
We are sorry for the inconvenience.
Not a big deal, I can click "Don't Send Error Report" all day. But what's going on, here? Is this a service that I need? Is the frequent crashing indicative of something worse that's happening behind the scenes?
I have a backup copy of my previous Documents and Settings folder which only contains my original user and within that, 2 directories (Favorites and Local Settings) which are visible in cmd shell but when I try to delete them, Windows gives me this error:
If I try to delete the Documents and Settings folder, I receive this warning:
I tried doing this in a cmd shell:
attrib *.* -r -a -s -h /s
But it did not help, nor did it return any errors/warnings.
Unlocker 1.8.5 returns: No Locking handle found.
Any ideas?
I need a desktop app that I can run on my Windows server that will give me access to files from:
S3
Rackspace cloud
Google docs
FTP
That's what Cyberduck gives me access to right now.
Essentially, what I'd like to do is copy & move files from one of those services to the others.
Is it possible to have two monitors in Windows 7, one touch screen and the other not? Obviously you would need a mouse to interact with the non-touch screen, but could you still use the touch features on that screen?
I use Windows 7 with a laptop specifications processor core (Core i3), 2 GB DDR3 RAM, the remaining capacity on the system partition (25 GB).
I do not know why the "welcome screen" takes a long time (about 40 sec), but yesterday only took about 10 sec.,
I tried to defragment the disk and do a virus & spyware scan with antivirus, but still the "Welcome screen" comes along.
How do I get the welcome screen to pass by faster when Windows boots up?
Is there any way that the built-in VPN interface in Windows 7 can replace the rediculous Cisco VPN software? I have tried several times using different methods and have failed. It seems if you just plug in the IP addresses and information it doesn't work.
I have a server (actually it's my development VM) that's quite space-limited, and a significant proportion of the c: drive is being used by Windows to store MSP files. A bit of searching has told me these are MS-patch files for installations.
Are these safe to delete? If not all of them; how can I tell which ones are and which ones not?
One of the very few reasons I have to physically interact with my Windows Home Server is to back it up to an external hard drive, with the "Backup Server" feature.
It would be more convenient to plug the external drive in to a desktop PC, and then do the backup over the network.
Is there a way to do this?
I've heard a little about iSCSI, but as far as I can tell it costs money, and I'm hoping for something free.
I want to create an Ad-Hoc network between two laptops on Windows 7. I do that but it keeps disconnecting. What is the reason ?
Can you give me a guide me to a good tutorial for creating ad-hoc networks ?
Is it possible to create a usb bootable version of Windows 7 just like ubuntu??
