• SQL returns non-array value in PHP

So within "flight", a record definitely exists with this Id. But, this still gives me a non-array result, so that when I try to use foreach on it, it errors out. Suggestions?

  I have some user-submitted variables that I want to display in a different part of my site like this: <div class="pre_box">Term: </div> <div class="entry"><?php $key='term'; echo get_post_meta($post->ID, $key, true); ?></div> Occasionally, these variables might be empty in which case I don't want to display the label for the empty variable. In the example above I would want to hide the <div class="pre_box">Term: </div> part. Is there some simple way to check if a php variable like the one above is empty and prevent the label from being displayed?

  Hi. I have this class that has a static member. it is also a base class for several other classes in my program. If I change the ++nextID phrase in the constructor to just nextID, then I only get one error, and if I change it to 1, then it links correctly. I imagine it's something simple, but what's going on?

  I am trying to build a inheritance-structure which looks like: Base - template Grandpa - template Father class Base {}; template <int x> class Grandpa: public Base {}; template <int x> class Father: public Grandpa<x> {}; However, the compiler complains when compiling Father, that Grandpa is not a template. I guess it is just some synthatic issue, however everything I've tried so far led to even more compiler complaints ;) Any idea whats wrong?

• Buffering db inserts in multithreaded program

  I have a system which breaks a large taks into small tasks using about 30 threads as a time. As each individual thread finishes it persists its calculated results to the database. What I want to achieve is to have each thread pass its results to a new persisance class that will perform a type of double buffering and data persistance while running in its own thread. For example, after 100 threads have moved their data to the buffer the persistance class then the persistance class swaps the buffers and persists all 100 entries to the database. This would allow utilization of prepared statements and thus cut way down on the I/O between the program and the database. Is there a pattern or good example of this type of multithreading double buffering?

• 0.20.2 API hadoop version with java 5

  I have started a maven project trying to implement the MapReduce algorithm in java 1.5.0_14. I have chosen the 0.20.2 API hadoop version. In the pom.xml i'm using thus the following dependency: < dependency < groupId>org.apache.hadoop< /groupId> < artifactId>hadoop-core< /artifactId> < version>0.20.2< /version> < /dependency But when I'm using an import to the org.apache.hadoop classes, I get the following error: bad class file: ${HOME_DIR}\repository\org\apache\hadoop\hadoop-core\0.20.2\hadoop-core-0.20.2.jar(org/apache/hadoop/fs/Path.class) class file has wrong version 50.0, should be 49.0. Does someone know how can I solve this issue. Thanks.

  Hello, let's say I want my users to use only one class, say SpecialData. Now, this data class would have many methods, and depending on the type of data, the methods do different things, internally, but return externally similar results. Therefore my wanting to have one "public" class and other "private", child classes that would change the behavior of methods, etc... It would be amazingly more simple for some types of data that need to be built to do something like this: SpecialData& sm = SpecialData::new_supermatrix(); and new_supermatrix() would return a SuperMatrix instance, which inherits from most behaviors of SpecialData. my header: static SpecialData& new_supermatrix(); my cpp: SpecialData& SpecialData::new_supermatrix()(){ return SuperMatrix(MATRIX_DEFAULT_MAGNITUDE,1000,1239,FLOAT32,etc...); } The problem is, I get this error, which is probably logical due to the circumstances: invalid initialization of non-const reference of type ‘SpecialData&’ from a temporary of type ‘SpecialData’ So, any ideas?

• Possible for C++ template to check for a function's existence?

  Is it possible to write a C++ template that changes behavior depending on if a certain member function is defined on a class? Here's a simple example of what I would want to write: template<class T> std::string optionalToString(T* obj) { if (FUNCTION_EXISTS(T->toString)) return obj->toString(); else return "toString not defined"; } So if class T has "toString" defined then it uses it, otherwise it doesn't. The magical part that I don't know how to do is the "FUNCTION_EXISTS" part.

When using templates on this inheritance hierarchy, is it legal to just use SomeTemplateClass<Animal> and then shove in Dogs and Cats and Horses into this templated object? • Why is JSON outputting out of order?

  I'm am trying to get a list of weather information for 8 locations. I'm using a weather API that accepts longitude and latitude and spits back json output with the weather info for that location. I feed the coords in order 0-7 but when json processes the data it comes back in a seemingly random order. I assume it's because some process faster than others and json is outputing what it gets back as it gets it. • Why has Foundation 4 made its grid classes less natural and readable?

  The Background I love responsive CSS grids. I hate Bootstrap's complex class names. I fell in love with Foundations human readable class names. The Problem With Foundation 4, they have changed four columns to large-4 small-4 columns and in my opinion this makes the HTML markup less clear. This style of CSS class names is exactly why I switched from Bootstrap to Foundation. The Question What advantage is gained by Foundation 4's Grid in making this change? It seems that you can have a different grid layout on smaller screens via media queries, but I can't think of a design that would require this. Note: I've been focused on native mobile development and therefore I may be missing out on recent best practices.

  Let's say you have two kinds, Message and Contact, related by a db.ListProperty of keys on Message. A user creates a message, adds some contacts as recipients, and emails the message. Later, the user deletes one of the contact entities that was a recipient of the message. Our application should delete the appropriate Contact entity, but we want to preserve the original recipient list for the message that was sent for the user's records. In essence, we want a snapshot of the message entity at the time it was sent. If we naively delete the contact entity, though, we lose snapshot integrity; if not, we are left with an invalid key.   I'm using the php class XSLTProcessor to generate HTML from a xsl. Within the xsl, I'd like all my custom namespace elements to be processed by my own processor class. I know I can enable calling php functions by using the registerPHPFunctions function. However, this only seems to support calling static methods.

• Allowing AsyncTask to Manipulate Values in Different Activity Classes

  Hi guys, This title may seem strange, so let me try to explain what I'm trying to do. I have several activity classes, each representing a different view in my application. My initial activity class gets loaded when the application launches. The user enters values and eventually a TCP socket is opened, and I then use AsyncTask to listen for and respond to messages from the server. I'd like for this AsyncTask class to essentially listen until the app is closed/error condition reached, and be able to update values in other activity classes after they are started. Does this make sense (it's been a long, frustrating night)? I know that static activity class references are bad practice, and touching the UI thread from other activities is bad as well, but I'm having trouble finding a clean solution to this problem. Maybe using AsyncTask is not the best approach here? Should I be using a service instead or something else entirely? Thanks in advance.

The validation is not executed. Can anybody just press me against the place where my error lies?
