• Sharepoint SSO bulk creation of user accounts

  Hopefully someone can help... I need to provide client with a solution to allow bulk creation of user accounts into SharePoint SSO. The client wants to provide an excel spreadsheet with accounts, usernames and passwords and have that created in the SSO database. I've been told its possible but I can't see how and google is failing me. I've been told its "some custom development and the SharePoint object model". As far as I can see all of the credentials stuff in the Microsoft.SharePoint.Portal.SingleSignon namespace is very much read only. I have a solution which is to get them to save the spreadsheet as a CSV file and to use jmeter to squirt the data in through the front end. I don't think that's really an acceptable solution though. Anyone got any clues? Or can anyone say definitively this can't be done? Thanks in advance...

• Data refresh and drill down problem with SSAS cube and excel services

  I have a SSAS cube which I am using in an excel document, prepare a report which has drill-down etc and i am publishing it to a sharepoint site. It gets published alright but when I try to drill down it throws an error "Data Refresh failed" etc.The data source and the sharpoint site are on the same machine(running windows server 2008) and we have windows authentication running. From what I have been able to find on the internet there is a problem with passing the windows authentication credentials to the database etc.But I have not been able to find the exact way to sort out these problem. What is the solution for this????

  I am building a secure app for our exec's... here is my setup. It's a somewhat Macgyver approach, but bear with me :) There are only 10 users, I have a record of each uniqueIdentifier on my backend in a database table. (This is internal only for our users, so I don't believe I am breaking the public user registration rule mentioned in the API docs) Through adhoc distribution I install my app on all 10 devices My app is simply composed of a UIWebView. When the app starts it does a POST to our https site sending the uniqueIdentifier. (Thanks to this answer) The server page that recieves the POST, checks the uniqueIdentifier and if found sets a session cookie that automatically logs them into the site. This way the user doesn't have to enter in their credentials every time. So what do you think, is there a security hole with this? Thanks

I installed IIS7 on Windows Server 2008 R2 and added these two application to my default website. I am having a number of problems so im hoping one of you can help out... 1) The silverlight and WCF service applications do not work with pass-through authentication. I need to "connect as" the administrator server account when setting up the application. I read online that you should only need to use the "connect as" field when you are connecting to another computer. If i dont supply the admin credentials i get this error. • Problem sending mail with simple .net application. Server refusal error.

  I have a very simple .net application for testing SMTP on .net. But i am receiving this weird error. "System.Net.Mail.SmtpException: Failure sending mail. --- System.Net.WebException: Unable to connect to the remote server --- System.Net.Sockets.SocketException: No connection could be made because the target machine actively refused it" SMTP server is remote and doesn't need any kind of authentication so i don't need credentials.   I am writing some Java code that authenticates to Active Directory using SASL GSSAPI. Mostly this code is working fine but for one user I am getting the response: javax.naming.AuthenticationException: [LDAP: error code 49 - 8 0090304: LdapErr: DSID-0C0904D1, comment: AcceptSecurityContext error, data 568, v1772 ] I know that 49 means this is an authentication failure, and that the relevant sub code is 568, but I am only aware of the following meanings for that data: 525 - user not found 52e - invalid credentials 530 - not permitted to logon at this time 532 - password expired 533 - account disabled 701 - account expired 773 - user must reset password So far I am unable to find an authorative source of these error codes from Microsoft (this list is pieced together from forum posts) and I can't find anything for that 568 error. Does anyone know what it means?

In the exe, we do Impersonation with "USER1" credentials so that exe can access UNC share. But after doing the impersonation, we are still getting error "Access denied" while accessing that UNC share.   I am upgrading a website written using ASP.NET 1.1 and the logic for the login page includes verifying the credentials, calling FormsAuthentication.SetAuthCookie() and populating the Session with the user information. I am updating this page to use Login controls and the Membership API and am trying to wrap my head around the concepts that have been changed. Most of the samples I see do not do anything on the login button event handler, so is the logic of setting the cookie abstracted out into the control? Also, how do I check if a user is logged in or not on other pages. Does it still store user information using the Session? How do I check if a user belongs to a particular role or not (Earlier, I would look in the Session object to do something like this) Is the Session a bad way of storing user info? Thanks
