• Flex Inheriting Logged in User

  I am trying to secure my Flex application within my Java web application. Currently my Java web application, handles logging and managing user accounts and the like. I was wondering if there is a way to essentially share that user credentials with the Flash movie in a secure mechanism? For instance, if you log in, we want you to be able to save items in the Flex application for that user, only if that user is logged in of course. Any ideas? Any help is greatly appreciated.

• Verify mail server connection programmatically in ColdFusion

  I'm using custom SMTP servers and would like to verify the connection when user enters his own server credentials. Exactly the same type of check as Adobe CF and Railo allow to do when adding mail server. Sure, this does not guarantee that delivery will be working, but at least to check that entered server/username/pass are valid. I can see one tricky way: try to send the email with cfmail and check the mail log. But I believe that it can be done with more elegant. Is there any Java library available with standard ACF/Railo distro to help me? How would I use them? Examples are highly appreciated. Thanks in advance. EDIT: Please don't be confused with Java tag present. Solution needed in CFML. Though it can use some Java libraries, if applicable.

  I going to use Google Checkout to process orders to purchase downloadable content. When the order process is completed via Google Checkout I'd like for the user to be able come back to my site, authenticate using their Google credentials (OpenID?) that they purchased the item with linked back end, and download the goods. The site is written using C# and ASP.NET MVC. Is this possible or how should I rethink this? Are there open-source libraries to get me started?

But Problem i am facing is: New Document library are not visible in site. I tried with comparing Field Value of Both Visible and No-Visible Document library. Difference i found is : Visible Library (Created Manually) doesn't contain Version value. were as it it present in library which are created by this code. Can you help me out in this?

• Multiple merchant accounts with Activemerchant gem.

  I am developing a rails site that will allow a group of merchants (5 - 10) to accept credit card orders online. I plan on using the Activemerchant gem to handle the processing. In this case, each merchant will have their own merchant accounts to handle the payments. Storing banking information like that is not something I am a fan of. This could be solved by queing orders and allowing the merchant to log in to the site, input their credentials and process the order. However, if I go that route then it seems to me that I would have to store the customers' credit card information temporarily until the merchant has the opportunity to log in and process the order, which to me is the greater evil. Has anyone dealt with this situation? If so, what are the options available and what pitfalls should I look out for? In my mind, security customer credit card information is priority number one with the merchant account information a close second.

I have done this is the past by having an HTML form and an onload script that submits the form to the destination... • How to allow multiple users to manage application running on server?

  I'm not sure if the title makes sense. Hard question to ask. I have an application running on a server under my network account, and it's scheduled to run daily. I can remote in with my user credentials and check on the application. What if I want more than one person to be able to remote in and check it? I can create a new account on the server, but it wouldn't have network rights and the application needs access to network folders. What would be the best approach? Thanks! :-) P.S.   Hi. I am trying to build a web site with ASP.NET MVC, I'm new to this. My question is: how can I display the default login dialog? I am not referring to a custom dialog, like the jQuery Dialog, there is a default pop-up for credentials, which looks different depending on browser, same as with javascript alert(), but I don't know how to display it. To know what I mean, go to http://fit.c2.com/wiki.cgi?WelcomeVisitors, there is a Login button at the bottom of the page, when you click it a pop-up appears. That is what I want to display. Any ideas?

  We're currently working on an API that will be consumed by a variety of different devices. We want to use the OAuth2 spec as it defines several flows which were not available in the original OAuth spec. My question is, what flow would work best for a mobile device such as the iPhone or iPad? What flow does an application like TweetDeck use? Looking around the web it seems clients like TweetDeck use the 'Username and Password Credentials Flow" (browserless token exchange). Can anyone provide more information on this topic?

However, I have not figured out a good approach for doing the initial handshake from browser applications. For example, if this is all happening using a AJAX technique, what prevents the user from being able to access the ID/Pass the client is using to handshake with the service? It seem's like this is the only stumbling block to this approach and I'm stumped.

  I have recently installed msysgit on my machine (its running Windows 7) to use Git for some projects. A lot of my projects are under SVN, in which I use AnkhSVN in Visual Studio 2008 to commit etc. Since I have installed msysgit everytime I try to commit, update etc inside Visual Studio, the program C:\msysgit\bin\ssh.exe loads up, asks for my password, then Ankh throws an exception. I currently use Pageant to save my login credentials for SVN - I have TortoiseSVN installed, which is still working fine... Has anybody got any suggestions to get Anhk working again - without uninstalling msysgit? Thanks

• Cant get the catch statement to catch the custom exception

• Can I connect to SQL Server using Windows Authentication from Java EE webapp?

  I am currently investigating how to make a connection to a SQL Server database from my Java EE web application using Windows Authentication instead of SQL Server authentication. I am running this app off of Tomcat 6.0, and am utilizing the Microsoft JDBC driver. My connection properties file looks as follows: dbDriver = com.microsoft.sqlserver.jdbc.SQLServerDriver dbUser = user dbPass = password dbServer = localhost:1433;databaseName=testDb dbUrl = jdbc:sqlserver://localhost:1433 I have zero problems with connecting to a SQL Server database in this fashion when using SQL Server authentication. Is there any way I can retrieve the credentials of the user's Windows Authentication and use that authentication for SQL Server? UPDATE: I know in ASP.net there is a way to set up Windows Authentication for access to the webapp, which is exactly what I am looking for, except I want to pass that token off to SQL Server for access to the database.

The sample provided in the DotNetOpenAuth download is quite confusing for me...maybe cos i am new to this stuff. There is one default page that creates a database and populates the database. Now I browse to the login.aspx and it asks me to put an openid, actually I want to use DNN (which implements DotNetOpenAuth) and i want to use those credentials on another site which will be the oAuth consumer. Can someone explain how to test the oAuth Service provider in the samples of DotNetOpenAuth?

I am using the WMI namespace exchange_publicfolder to try and add an Exchange server (using the servers DN) to the AddReplica procedure. Every time I run this I get an invalid parameter as an exception. Below is the code that I am using to do this.   I am writing an ebook reader that supports the epub format (i have the parsing of open epub working), but I would like to support the reading of Adobe DRM locked epubs. I have read through the Adobe digital editions site (faq and support pages) and googled, but alas as yet I have not found any docs on the API to: authorise the PC using the user's Adobe ID credentials and decrypt the epub for parsing by my app. Does anyone have any pointers to docs or APIs? I would prefer APIs in Python, C++. But any API is better than nothing ;-) UPDATE1: I am writing my app on Desktops (linux, mac and windows). UPDATE2: Just to be clear, I am assuming that user has paid for the book legitimately and so does have an Adobe ID. I don't want to crack the DRM, just allow the user to read their books that they bought.

• How to call an ASP.NET WebMethod using PowerShell?

  It seems like ASP.NET WebMethods are not "web servicey" enough to work with New-WebServiceProxy. Or maybe it is, and I haven't figured out how to initialize it? • Replay attacks for HTTPS requests

  Let's say a security tester uses a proxy, say Fiddler, and records an HTTPS request using the administrator's credentials-- on replay of the entire request (including session and auth cookies) the security tester is able to succesfully (re)record transactions. The claim is that this is a sign of a CSRF vulnerability. What would a malicious user have to do to intercept the HTTPS request and replay it? It this a task for script kiddies, well funded military hacking teams or time-traveling-alien technology? Is it really so easy to record the SSL sessions of users and replay them before the tickets expire? No code in the application currently does anything interesting on HTTP GET, so AFAIK, tricking the admin into clicking a link or loading a image with a malicious URL isn't an issue.

• Authentication for SaaS

  What would be recommended as an authentication solution for a Software-as-a-service product? Specifically, my product would have clients that would typically have low information technology skills, potentially not even having an IT department within their organization. I would still like to have my application authenticate against their internal directory service (eDirectory, Active Directory, etc.). I don't want them, however, to have to open/forward ports (for instance, opening up port 636 so I can do LDAPS binds directly to their directory service). One idea I had was to have an application installed on a server within their organization's network that would backconnect to my service. This would be a persistant socket. When I need to authenticate a user, I send the credentials via the socket (encrypted) - the application then performs a bind/whatever to authenticate against the directory service and replies with OK/FAIL. What would you suggest? My goal here is to essentially have the client install an application within their network, with very little configuration or intervention.

How can i get these credentials to log in? I'd like to log in as root i guess. But i don't know how to setup a root account and create a password for root using the cli and mysql. Please help?
