  Hello, I'm looking for Javascript code for letting the user draw a line (on an image). Just as the line tool in Photoshop (for example): The user clicks on the image, drags the mouse (while the line between the start point and the mouse point is dynamically drawn on mouse drag). I would also need a callable function to send the page the start and end coordinates. I've found this very nice script for area selection: http://www.defusion.org.uk/code/javascript-image-cropper-ui-using-prototype-scriptaculous/ and I've found many script for drawing lines (and other shapes in JS), but could not find what I'm looking for. • Convert latitude and longitude into northings and eastings

  Hi I have the following UK postcode dy8 3xt and know that the latitude and longitude is:- 54.452772 -2.156082 I also know that the Eastings, Northings for the postcode is:- 389490 283880 However I am struggling to find the equation that converts lat/long to northings and Eastings, I would prefer to have the equation in both in jScript and c# (I am being greedy)! Can anyone help? EDIT Thanks for your help so far guys, I am starting to learn something here esp. the terminology... Some more info, if you click on this link you can see the results I am looking for. The postcode I entered projects to lat/lng using WG S84 and the grid ref projects to OSGB. • Determining the hostname/IP address from the MX record in PHP

  Hi there, have a basic email domain validation script that takes a user's email domain, resolves the IP address from that and then checks that against various published blacklists. Here is how I am determining the IP: $domain = substr(strchr($email, '@'), 1); $ip = gethostbyname($domain); The problem is that some email address domains, such as [email protected], use an MX record rather than an A record, so using gethostbyname('alumni.example.net') will fail to resolve. I know when a user's email is using an MX in the email itself by using the PHP checkdnsrr function, but once at that stage am a little stuck as to how to proceed. In theory, I could parse out the 'root' domain, i.e. 'example.net' and check it, but I've not found reliable regex that can handle this task when the user could easily have an email the format of [email protected].uk... So, any suggestions on how to best tackle this??

  Hi all. I'm trying to add my recently uploaded flickr feed onto a site. I've followed tutorials with Simple Pie, but can't get what I desire. I need to be able dictate where each image will sit in multiple DIV's rather than just one repeated DIV. Here is a website which seems to do what I want.. wearecondiment.com It basically updates the Static URL inside each seperate DIV.. I cant find the PHP anywhere in there code. Here is the site I plan to add this feature to.. "http://www.openyourheart.org.uk" I'll make a new page and template of square DIVs where each photo will sit. The aim of it will basically be so that people can upload their own images to display in the campaign and automatically appear on the site. It would also be great if somehow the image could crop to the size of each square/rectangle. Any ideas? Cheers, Bradley

  I have a calendar on my website, generated in Perl using Template::Toolkit and Template::Plugin::Date. It highlights the current day. I achieve this by iterating through all the dates (as I print the calendar) and comparing against the current date. Something like this: [% IF cur_date == date.format(format = '%Y-%m-%d') %] ... [% END %] It all works well until someone in Australia looks at it. (They are in a different timezone to me and my server in the UK). What's the best way to get Template::Plugin::Date to use a different time zone? It accepts a 'locale' parameter, but AFAIK this is only used for formatting.

  There exists an unknown target location (latitude and longitude co-ordinates). I have 3 latitude and longitude co-ordinate pairs and for each pair a distance in kilometers to the target location. How can I calculate the co-ordinates of the target location? For example, say I have the following data points 37.418436,-121.963477 0.265710701754km 37.417243,-121.961889 0.234592423446km 37.418692,-121.960194 0.0548954278262km What I'd like is what would the guts of the function that takes that as input and returns 37.417959,-121.961954 as output look like? I understand how to calculate the distance between two points, from http://www.movable-type.co.uk/scripts/latlong.html I understand the general principle that with three circles you get exactly one point of overlap. What I'm hazy on is the math needed to calculate that point with this input.

  Say I have two series in pandas, series A and series B. How do I create a dataframe in which all of those values are multiplied together, i.e. with series A down the left hand side and series B along the top. • Evaluating php generated javascript "inline"?

  If you look at the source of this page http://kingston.talking-newspapers.co.uk/ you will see a large amount of inline javascript near the top. I don't really want all this extra stuff floating around in my page source, I'd much rather get it off into a script tag, and then I can minify it and all sorts. If I call it as a php file, this SHOULD work in theory, I just end the js file extension with php instead, and in the header I put the following: header("Content-type:application/x-javascript"); but... a lot of the php variables used to generate the playlist within the javascript are setup at the beginning of the main index.php file, and in calling this php-generated js playlist file like this, it seems to evaluate it entirely separately, so it's full of errors. The only way round it I can think of is to have the page write a file, then immediately read it in. The other thing is, the playlist is likely to change often and dynamically, so I think I need to get minify to NOT cache it?

• navigateToUrl AS3 is not opening a web browser

  I have a textField on my stage named 'adBuy', which when clicked I want to open up my browser with the defined in URL request. However when I click on the 'adBuy' textField on my SWF it opens Coda, the piece of software I'm using to write this small piece of code? I am puzzled. • Postcode and radius lookup recommendations

  I look after a number of divisional websites for a uk based membership organisation and what we want to do is provide, as well as other address functions, is a closest member lookup to a web user from the websites themselves. A few use cases that I want to fill: Case 1: The user puts in their post code and wants to see all the members in a 5/10/15/20/30/40 mile radius from them Case 2: The member puts in an area (city, county, etc.) and gets a list of members in that area. Essentially what I'm looking for is a programmable API which I can code against to do: post code lookup and returns addresses (after picking house number for example). search post code + radius (5miles, 10miles etc) and get a set of applicable post codes to then join onto the membership records in the database Any recommendations? It can be a quarterly update install on the server, it can be a queryable web service. I'm open to suggestions. Thanks in advance

With regexes? Parsing it into some kind of HTTPResponse object and using only the body? EDIT: I'm using SOCKS to make the request, that's why I get the raw response.

• Styling a hr for internet explorer

  Hey, in my quest to create as image light a site as possible, I'm looking to create two tone hr's. I've achieved this in modern browsers, but want to achieve the same effect in ie6 and 7. The current code I am using is hr { border-bottom:1px solid #FFFFFF; border-top:1px solid #dcdcdc; clear:both; height:0; border-left:0px; border-right:0px; } I've tried, with no success to make this work in ie6 and 7 without having to target the browsers specifically. • How to create a BBC style (facebox?) help popup

  Hi guys, I have tried to take apart the code, but can't seem to replicate it. On the BBC weather homepage, http://news.bbc.co.uk/weather/, you will see a little help quetionmark in a circle in the top right corner or some of the boxes. When you click on it, it brings up a nice help popup, that looks a little like facebox. The main thing I like about this, is the little arrow that points back to the help button to the right of the container. Facebox is just a standard square. If anyone knows how to replicate this, some help would be greatly appreciated. Regards, Ian

• Web based delivery pricing system - where to start?

  I've been asked to quote on how long it would take to deliver a system such as can be found here: http://cgi.tnt.co.uk/ratechecker/enter_details.asp The client basically wants to give quotes for shipping based on a number of variables such as weight, distance etc, and for it to be accessible through their website. I've thought of the Drupal/Ubercart/Shipping combination but this isn't really what it's designed for. A paid for, off-the-shelf system would also be great but I can't seem to find any that do this properly.. What would be a good system to start with here, or alternatively is there a system that already does this?
