• Slow network interaction between 2 kvm host machines

- by VirtualNoob
We have 2 physical machines, Host1 is a CentOS 6.4 kvm host and hosts ~7 kvm VMs all running Ubuntu 12.04 - all of this runs perfectly. Recently we've added a 2nd host system, host2, again a CentOS 6.4 kvm host with a view to running another couple of VMs and providing some failover against host1 should it be required. Both physical machines reside in the same cabinet in our DC, and are on the same subnet - let's say host1: 1.1.1.64 and host2: 1.1.1.81. Both have their gateway set to the DC gateway of 1.1.1.254 with no hardware firewall in between. On each machine, I have 4 NICs that are bonded together to form a single interface, which is then bridged to allow the VMs to access the network. All of the VMs are online, and all of them can successfully ssh into the hosts without any delay. Both systems can access the internet fine, and I can ssh into both systems from home without any issues. However, there is a real delay when attempting to ssh from host1 to host2 (or vice versa) and this obviously means that any action required on host2, that is controlled by host1 either takes forever or results in failure due to timeout. In the interest of keeping this post short, I've put my ifcfg files into a pastie: http://pastie.org/8081648 I've tried both adding a firewall rule in each machine for the other, and also disabling the firewall entirely, so that can't be the issue. I've tried troubleshooting this myself but can't seem to get to the bottom of it. Any help or advice would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.

• Server over VPN?

- by zib_redlektab
I don't know that much about VPN, so it could be that this is utterly impossible. Here's hoping, though. I would like to forward a port from my router to a machine connected to the network via VPN. That way, I could run a simple server on my laptop, and it would continue to work at the same address no matter where I am. The trick is that I don't want people connecting to the server to have to join the VPN. It should be completely transparent to the end-user. If it's not possible with VPN, is there some other technology that would make this possible? Basically just forwarding a port to a remote machine, one without a static IP.

• Assigning an event or command to a DataTemplate in ResourceDictionary

- by Scott
I have the following class: public class Day { public int Date { get; set; } public String DayName { get; set; } public Day() { } public Day(int date, string dayName) { Date = date; DayName = dayName; CommandManager.RegisterClassCommandBinding(typeof(Day), new CommandBinding(DayClick, new ExecutedRoutedEventHandler(OnExecutedDayClick), new CanExecuteRoutedEventHandler(OnCanExecuteDayClick))); } public static readonly RoutedCommand DayClick = new RoutedCommand("DayClick", typeof(Day)); private static void OnCanExecuteDayClick(object sender, CanExecuteRoutedEventArgs e) { ((Day)sender).OnCanExecuteDayClick(e); } private static void OnExecutedDayClick(object sender, ExecutedRoutedEventArgs e) { ((Day)sender).OnExecutedDayClick(e); } protected virtual void OnCanExecuteDayClick(CanExecuteRoutedEventArgs e) { e.CanExecute = true; e.Handled = false; } protected virtual void OnExecutedDayClick(ExecutedRoutedEventArgs e) { string content = String.Format("Day {0}, which is {1}, was clicked.", Date.ToString(), DayName); MessageBox.Show(content); e.Handled = true; } } I am using the following DataTemplate (that is in a ResourceDictionary) to render it: <DataTemplate DataType="{x:Type local:Day}"> <Grid> <Grid.ColumnDefinitions> <ColumnDefinition/> <ColumnDefinition/> </Grid.ColumnDefinitions> <Rectangle Grid.ColumnSpan="2" x:Name="rectHasEntry" Fill="WhiteSmoke"/> <TextBlock Grid.Column="0" x:Name="textBlockDayName" Text="{Binding DayName}" FontFamily="Junction" FontSize="11" Background="Transparent" HorizontalAlignment="Center" VerticalAlignment="Center" Margin="0,2,0,0"/> <TextBlock Grid.Column="1" x:Name="textBlockDate" Text="{Binding Date}" FontFamily="Junction" FontSize="11" Background="Transparent" HorizontalAlignment="Center" VerticalAlignment="Center" Margin="0,2,0,0"/> <Rectangle Grid.ColumnSpan="2" x:Name="rectMouseOver" Fill="#A2C0DA" Opacity="0" Style="{StaticResource DayRectangleMouseOverStyle}"> </Rectangle> </Grid> </DataTemplate> No problems so far, I can get it on screen. What I want to be able to do is assign a Command, or use an event, so that when the user clicks on the Day it will notify the parent of the Day object that it has been clicked. I've tried the following: <Rectangle.CommandBindings> <CommandBinding Command="{x:Static local:Day.NextDay}" Executed="{x:Static local:Day.OnExecutedDayClick}" CanExecute="{x:Static local:Day.OnCanExecuteDayClick}"/> </Rectangle.CommandBindings> to try and bind the commands that are in the Day class but it didn't work. I got an error stating: 'ResourceDictionary' root element requires a x:Class attribute to support event handlers in the XAML file. Either remove the event handler for the Executed event, or add a x:Class attribute to the root element. Which I think means that there is no code-behind file for a ResourceDictionary, or something to that effect. In any event, I'm not sure if I should be using Commands here, or somehow tying events to the Rectangle in question, or if this is even possible. I've seen various places where it sure looks like it's possible, I'm just unable to translate what I'm seeing into something that actually works, hence this post. Thanks in advance.

• xaml : Retrigger opacity animation on multiple conditions

- by Sdry
I have a problem figuring out how datatriggers and multidatatriggers work. I am trying to display a message, and depending on the type of message keep it displayed( + having a background), or having it fade out by a double animation on the opacity property (+ having a transparent background). My xaml view has a game object as datacontext, which has a dependency property of type GameMessage, of which the constructor looks like this: public GameMessage(bool containsMessage, string message, bool canFadeAway) { ContainsMessage = containsMessage; Message = message; CanFadeAway = canFadeAway; } pretty straight forward, I want to display the message when ContainsMessage =equals true, and trigger a fade out animation if canFadeAway equals true. But also set the background based on canFadeAway. <TextBlock Name="txtMessage" Text="{Binding Path=GameMessage.Message}" Canvas.Top="25" Canvas.Left="0" Foreground="{StaticResource MessageForegroundBrush}"> </TextBlock> Now, the Style and triggers is where I get into trouble: The problem is in resetting the opacity when the GameMessage Property ( of type GameMessage) is of type true,msg",true, and gets replaced by a GameMessage object of the same kind. The opcacity remains 0, and messages only get restored again when I have a message of kind true,"msg,false. After the animation, the opacity is 0, and where I would expect the second multidatatrigger to set it back to 8, and then have the animation performed by the Datatrigger, it doesnt. What would be the best way to get this working ?

• WPF DataTemplateKey can not find ListBox key

What have I missed? Thanks Ryan

• Win32 window capture with BitBlt not displaying border

- by user292533
I have written some c++ code to capture a window to a .bmp file. BITMAPFILEHEADER get_bitmap_file_header(int width, int height) { BITMAPFILEHEADER hdr; memset(&hdr, 0, sizeof(BITMAPFILEHEADER)); hdr.bfType = ((WORD) ('M' << 8) | 'B'); // is always "BM" hdr.bfSize = 0;//sizeof(BITMAPFILEHEADER) + sizeof(BITMAPINFOHEADER) + (width * height * sizeof(int)); hdr.bfReserved1 = 0; hdr.bfReserved2 = 0; hdr.bfOffBits = (DWORD)(sizeof(BITMAPFILEHEADER) + sizeof(BITMAPINFOHEADER)); return hdr; } BITMAPINFO get_bitmap_info(int width, int height) { BITMAPINFO bmi; memset(&bmi.bmiHeader, 0, sizeof(BITMAPINFOHEADER)); //initialize bitmap header bmi.bmiHeader.biSize = sizeof(BITMAPINFOHEADER); bmi.bmiHeader.biWidth = width; bmi.bmiHeader.biHeight = height; bmi.bmiHeader.biPlanes = 1; bmi.bmiHeader.biBitCount = 4 * 8; bmi.bmiHeader.biCompression = BI_RGB; bmi.bmiHeader.biSizeImage = width * height * 4; return bmi; } void get_bitmap_from_window(HWND hWnd, int * imageBuff) { HDC hDC = GetWindowDC(hWnd); SIZE size = get_window_size(hWnd); HDC hMemDC = CreateCompatibleDC(hDC); RECT r; HBITMAP hBitmap = CreateCompatibleBitmap(hDC, size.cx, size.cy); HBITMAP hOld = (HBITMAP)SelectObject(hMemDC, hBitmap); BitBlt(hMemDC, 0, 0, size.cx, size.cy, hDC, 0, 0, SRCCOPY); //PrintWindow(hWnd, hMemDC, 0); BITMAPINFO bmi = get_bitmap_info(size.cx, size.cy); GetDIBits(hMemDC, hBitmap, 0, size.cy, imageBuff, &bmi, DIB_RGB_COLORS); SelectObject(hMemDC, hOld); DeleteDC(hMemDC); ReleaseDC(NULL, hDC); } void save_image(HWND hWnd, char * name) { int * buff; RECT r; SIZE size; GetWindowRect(hWnd, &r); size.cx = r.right-r.left; size.cy = r.bottom-r.top; buff = (int*)malloc(size.cx * size.cy * sizeof(int)); get_bitmap_from_window(hWnd, buff); BITMAPINFO bmi = get_bitmap_info(size.cx, size.cy); BITMAPFILEHEADER hdr = get_bitmap_file_header(size.cx, size.cy); FILE * fout = fopen(name, "w"); fwrite(&hdr, 1, sizeof(BITMAPFILEHEADER), fout); fwrite(&bmi.bmiHeader, 1, sizeof(BITMAPINFOHEADER), fout); fwrite(buff, 1, size.cx * size.cy * sizeof(int), fout); fflush(fout); fclose(fout); free(buff); } It works find under XP, but under Vista the border of the window is transparent. Using PrintWindow solves the problem, but is unacceptable for performance reasons. Is there a performant code change, or a setting that can be changed to make the border non-transparent?

• Delphi 2010 differs in Canvas transparency compared to Delphi 7?

- by Tom1952
I'm porting some very old code from Delph7 to Delphi2010 with a few changes as possible to the existing code base for the usual reasons. First: the good news for anyone who hasn't jumped yet: it's not as daunting as it may look! I'm actually pleased (& surprised) at how easy 1,000,000+ lines of code have moved across. And what a relief to be back on the leading edge! Delphi 2010 has so many great enhancements. However, I'm having a cosmetic problem with some TStringGrids and TDbGrids descendants. In the last century (literally!) someone wrote the two methods below. The first method is used to justify text. When run in Delphi 2010, the new text and the unjustified text to both appear in the cells written to. Of course it's a mess visually, almost illegible. Sometimes, as a result of the second method is use, the grid cells are actually semi-transparent, with text from the window below showing through. (Again, not pretty!) It appears to me that Delphi 2010's TDbGrid and TStringGrid have some differences in the way they handle transparency? I haven't much experience in this area of Delphi (in fact, I have no idea what the 2nd method is actually doing!) and was hoping someone could give me some pointers on what's going on and how to fix it. TIA! Method 1 procedure TForm1.gridDrawCell(Sender: TObject; Col, Row: Integer; Rect: TRect; State: TGridDrawState); {Used to align text in cells.} var x: integer; begin if (Row > 0) AND (Col > 0) then begin SetTextAlign(grdTotals.Canvas.Handle, TA_RIGHT); x := Rect.Right - 2; end else begin SetTextAlign(grdTotals.Canvas.Handle, TA_CENTER); x := (Rect.Left + Rect.Right) div 2; end; grdTotals.Canvas.TextRect(Rect, x, Rect.Top+2, grdTotals.Cells[Col,Row]); end; Method 2 procedure WriteText(ACanvas: TCanvas; ARect: TRect; DX, DY: Integer; const Text: string; TitleBreak: TTitleBreak; Alignment: TAlignment); const AlignFlags: array [TAlignment] of Integer = (DT_LEFT or { DT_WORDBREAK or } DT_EXPANDTABS or DT_NOPREFIX, DT_RIGHT or { DT_WORDBREAK or } DT_EXPANDTABS or DT_NOPREFIX, DT_CENTER or { DT_WORDBREAK or } DT_EXPANDTABS or DT_NOPREFIX); var ABitmap: TBitmap; AdjustBy: Integer; B, R: TRect; WordBreak: Integer; begin WordBreak := 0; if (TitleBreak = tbAlways) or ((TitleBreak = tbDetect) and (Pos(Chr(13) + Chr(10), Text) = 0)) then WordBreak := DT_WORDBREAK; ABitmap := TBitmap.Create; try ABitmap.Canvas.Lock; try AdjustBy := 1; if (Alignment = taRightJustify) then Inc(AdjustBy); with ABitmap, ARect do begin Width := Max(Width, Right - Left); Height := Max(Height, Bottom - Top); R := Rect(DX, DY, Right - Left - AdjustBy, Bottom - Top - 1); { @@@ } B := Rect(0, 0, Right - Left, Bottom - Top); end; with ABitmap.Canvas do begin Font := ACanvas.Font; Brush := ACanvas.Brush; Brush.Style := bsSolid; FillRect(B); SetBkMode(Handle, TRANSPARENT); DrawText(Handle, PChar(Text), Length(Text), R, AlignFlags[Alignment] or WordBreak); end; ACanvas.CopyRect(ARect, ABitmap.Canvas, B); finally ABitmap.Canvas.Unlock; end; finally ABitmap.Free; end; end;

• VMRMixerControl9 & GDI problem!

- by freefallr
I'm attempting to overlay a bitmap on some video. I create a bitmap in memory, then I call SelectObject to select it into a memoryDC, so I can perform a DrawText operation on it. • Trouble displaying an object in WPF

- by Scott
I'm so new to this that I can't even phrase the question right... Anyway, I'm trying to do something very simple and have been unable to figure it out. I have the following class: public class Day : Control, INotifyPropertyChanged { public static readonly DependencyProperty DateProperty = DependencyProperty.Register("Date", typeof(int), typeof(Day)); public int Date { get { return (int)GetValue(DateProperty); } set { SetValue(DateProperty, value); if (PropertyChanged != null) { PropertyChanged(this, new PropertyChangedEventArgs("Date")); } } } public static readonly DependencyProperty DayNameProperty = DependencyProperty.Register("DayName", typeof(String), typeof(Day)); public String DayName { get { return (String)GetValue(DayNameProperty); } set { SetValue(DayNameProperty, value); if (PropertyChanged != null) { PropertyChanged(this, new PropertyChangedEventArgs("DayName")); } } } static Day() { DefaultStyleKeyProperty.OverrideMetadata(typeof(Day), new FrameworkPropertyMetadata(typeof(Day))); } #region INotifyPropertyChanged Members public event PropertyChangedEventHandler PropertyChanged; #endregion } I've learned that you can't call a constructor that has parameters in XAML so the only way to actually set some data for this class is through the two properties, DayName and Date. I created a ControlTemplate for Day which is as follows: I then render it on screen in my MainWindow thusly: <Window x:Class="WPFControlLibrary.TestHarness.MainWindow" xmlns="http://schemas.microsoft.com/winfx/2006/xaml/presentation" xmlns:x="http://schemas.microsoft.com/winfx/2006/xaml" xmlns:con="clr-namespace:WPFControlLibrary.Calendar;assembly=WPFControlLibrary" Title="MainWindow" Height="500" Width="525" WindowStartupLocation="CenterScreen"> <Grid> <Grid.ColumnDefinitions> <ColumnDefinition Width="*"/> <ColumnDefinition Width="80"/> </Grid.ColumnDefinitions> <con:Day Grid.Column="1" Height="20" Width="80" DayName="Mon" Date="1"/> </Grid> And what I actually see is, well, nothing. If I put my cursor on the con:Day line of the XAML it'll highlight the correctly sized rectangle in the window but I don't see "Mon" on the left side of the rectangle and "1" on the right. What am I doing wrong? I suspect it's something simple but I'll be darned if I'm seeing it. My ultimate goal is to group a bunch of the Day controls within a Month control, which is then contained in a Year control as I'm trying to make a long Calendar Bar that lets you navigate through the months and years, while clicking on a Day would display any information saved on that date. But I can't even get the Day part to display independent of anything else so I'm a long way from the rest of the functionality. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

• SetPixelFormat is not creating an alpha channel for OpenGL

- by i_photon
I've been able to do this before, and I don't know what changed between two weeks ago and the last windows update, but for some reason SetPixelFormat isn't creating an alpha channel. gDebugger shows that the window's back buffer only has 3 channels. White+0 alpha renders as white. So there is something inherently wrong with what I was doing, or an update broke it. The code below should be paste-able into an empty VS project. #include <Windows.h> #include <dwmapi.h> #include <gl/GL.h> #pragma comment(lib,"opengl32.lib") #pragma comment(lib,"dwmapi.lib") HWND hWnd = 0; HDC hDC = 0; HGLRC hRC = 0; LRESULT CALLBACK WndProc(HWND, UINT, WPARAM, LPARAM); int APIENTRY WinMain( HINSTANCE hInstance, HINSTANCE hPrevInstance, LPSTR lpCmdLine, int nCmdShow ) { WNDCLASSEX wcex = {0}; wcex.cbSize = sizeof(WNDCLASSEX); wcex.lpfnWndProc = WndProc; wcex.hCursor = LoadCursor(NULL, IDC_ARROW); wcex.lpszClassName = TEXT("why_class"); RegisterClassEx(&wcex); // no errors hWnd = CreateWindowEx( NULL, TEXT("why_class"), TEXT("why_window"), WS_OVERLAPPEDWINDOW, 128,128, 256,256, NULL, NULL, hInstance, NULL ); // no errors PIXELFORMATDESCRIPTOR pfd = {0}; pfd.nSize = sizeof(pfd); pfd.nVersion = 1; pfd.dwFlags = PFD_DRAW_TO_WINDOW| PFD_SUPPORT_OPENGL| PFD_DOUBLEBUFFER| PFD_SUPPORT_COMPOSITION; pfd.cColorBits = 32; pfd.cAlphaBits = 8; // need an alpha channel pfd.cDepthBits = 24; pfd.cStencilBits = 8; hDC = GetDC(hWnd); int i = ChoosePixelFormat(hDC,&pfd); SetPixelFormat(hDC,i,&pfd); // no errors hRC = wglCreateContext(hDC); // no errors wglMakeCurrent(hDC,hRC); // no errors // EDIT: Turn on alpha testing (which actually won't // fix the clear color problem below) glEnable(GL_BLEND); glBlendFunc(GL_SRC_ALPHA,GL_ONE_MINUS_SRC_ALPHA); // EDIT: Regardless of whether or not GL_BLEND is enabled, // a clear color with an alpha of 0 should (or did at one time) // make this window transparent glClearColor( 0,0,0, // if this is (1,1,1), the window renders // solid white regardless of the alpha 0 // changing the alpha here has some effect ); DWM_BLURBEHIND bb = {0}; bb.dwFlags = DWM_BB_ENABLE|DWM_BB_TRANSITIONONMAXIMIZED; bb.fEnable = TRUE; bb.fTransitionOnMaximized = TRUE; DwmEnableBlurBehindWindow(hWnd,&bb); // no errors ShowWindow(hWnd, SW_SHOWNORMAL); UpdateWindow(hWnd); // no errors MSG msg = {0}; while(true){ GetMessage(&msg,NULL,NULL,NULL); if(msg.message == WM_QUIT){ return (int)msg.wParam; } TranslateMessage(&msg); DispatchMessage(&msg); glClear(GL_COLOR_BUFFER_BIT|GL_DEPTH_BUFFER_BIT); glBegin(GL_TRIANGLES); // this vertex should be transparent, // as it was when I last built this test // // it renders as white glColor4f(1,1,1,0); glVertex2f(0,0); glColor4f(0,1,1,1); glVertex2f(1,0); glColor4f(1,0,1,1); glVertex2f(0,1); glEnd(); SwapBuffers(hDC); } return (int)msg.wParam; } LRESULT CALLBACK WndProc(HWND hWnd, UINT message, WPARAM wParam, LPARAM lParam) { switch (message) { case WM_DESTROY: { PostQuitMessage(0); }return 0; default: break; } return DefWindowProc(hWnd, message, wParam, lParam); }

• How to get updated automatically WPF TreeViewItems with values based on .Net class properties?

- by ProgrammerManiac
Good morning. I have a class with data derived from InotifyPropertyChange. The data come from a background thread, which searches for files with certain extension in certain locations. Public property of the class reacts to an event OnPropertyChange by updating data in a separate thread. Besides, there are described in XAML TreeView, based on HierarhicalDataTemplates. Each TextBlock inside templates supplied ItemsSource = "{Binding FoundFilePaths, Mode = OneWay, NotifyOnTargetUpdated = True}". enter code here <HierarchicalDataTemplate DataType = "{x:Type lightvedo:FilesInfoStore}" ItemsSource="{Binding FoundFilePaths, Mode=OneWay, NotifyOnTargetUpdated=True}"> <StackPanel x:Name ="TreeNodeStackPanel" Orientation="Horizontal"> <TextBlock Margin="5,5,5,5" TargetUpdated="TextBlockExtensions_TargetUpdated"> <TextBlock.Text> <MultiBinding StringFormat="Files with Extension {0}"> <Binding Path="FileExtension"/> </MultiBinding> </TextBlock.Text> </TextBlock>
</StackPanel> </HierarchicalDataTemplate> <HierarchicalDataTemplate DataType="{x:Type lightvedo:FilePathsStore}"> <TextBlock Text="{Binding FilePaths, Mode=OneWay, NotifyOnTargetUpdated=True}" TargetUpdated="OnTreeViewNodeChildren_Update" /> </HierarchicalDataTemplate> </TreeView.Resources> <TreeView.RenderTransform> <TransformGroup> <ScaleTransform/> <SkewTransform AngleX="-0.083"/> <RotateTransform/> <TranslateTransform X="-0.249"/> </TransformGroup> </TreeView.RenderTransform> <TreeView.BorderBrush> <LinearGradientBrush EndPoint="1,0.5" StartPoint="0,0.5"> <GradientStop Color="#FF74591F" Offset="0" /> <GradientStop Color="#FF9F7721" Offset="1" /> <GradientStop Color="#FFD9B972" Offset="0.49" /> </LinearGradientBrush> </TreeView.BorderBrush> </TreeView> Q: Why is the data from a class derived from INotifyPropertyChange does not affect the display of tree items. Do I understand: The interface will make INotifyPropertyChange be automatically redrawn TreeViewItems or do I need to manually carry out this operation? Currently TreeViewItems not updated and PropertyChamged always null. A feeling that no subscribers to the event OnPropertyChanged.

• Delphi: EReadError with message ‘Property PageNr does Not Exist’.

- by lyborko
Hi, I get SOMETIMES error message: EReadError with message 'Property PageNr does Not exist', when I try to run my own project. I am really desperate, because I see simply nothing what is the cause. The devilish is that it comes up sometimes but often. It concerns of my own component TPage. Here is declaration TPage = class(TCustomControl) // private FPaperHeight, FPaperWidth:Integer; FPaperBrush:TBrush; FPaperSize:TPaperSize; FPaperOrientation:TPaperOrientation; FPDFDocument: TPDFDocument; FPageNr:integer; procedure PaintBasicLayout; procedure PaintInterior; procedure SetPapersize(Value: TPapersize); procedure SetPaperHeight(Value: Integer); procedure SetPaperWidth(Value: Integer); procedure SetPaperOrientation(value:TPaperOrientation); procedure SetPaperBrush(Value:TBrush); procedure SetPageNr(Value:Integer); protected procedure CreateParams(var Params:TCreateParams); override; procedure AdjustClientRect(var Rect: TRect); override; public constructor Create(AOwner: TComponent);override; destructor Destroy;override; // function GetChildOwner:TComponent; override; procedure DrawControl(X,Y :integer; Dx,Dy:Double; Ctrl:TControl;NewCanvas:TCanvas); // procedure GetChildren(Proc:TGetChildProc; Root:TComponent); override; procedure Loaded; override; procedure MouseDown(Button: TMouseButton; Shift: TShiftState; X, Y: Integer); override; procedure Paint; override; procedure PrintOnCanvas(X,Y:integer; rX,rY:Double; ACanvas:TCanvas); procedure PrintOnPDFCanvas(X,Y:integer); procedure PrintOnPrinterCanvas(X,Y:integer); procedure Resize; override; procedure SetPrintKind(APrintKind:TPrintKind; APrintGroupindex:Integer); published property PageNr:integer read FPageNr write SetPageNr; property PaperBrush: TBrush read FPaperBrush write SetPaperBrush; property PaperHeight: integer read FPaperHeight write SetPaperHeight; property PaperWidth: integer read FPaperWidth write SetPaperWidth; property PaperSize: TPaperSize read FPaperSize write SetPaperSize; property PaperOrientation:TPaperOrientation read FPaperOrientation write SetPaperOrientation; property PDFDocument:TPDFDocument read FPDFDocument write FPDFDocument; property TabOrder; end; I thoroughly read the similar topic depicted here: Delphi: EReadError with message 'Property Persistence does Not exist' But here it is my own source code. No third party. Interesting: when I delete PageNr property in my dfm file (unit1.dfm), then pops up : EReadError with message 'Property PaperHeight does Not exist'. when I delete PaperHeight then it will claim PaperWidth and so on... Here is piece of dfm file: object pg1: TPage Left = 128 Top = 144 Width = 798 Height = 1127 PageNr = 0 PaperHeight = 1123 PaperWidth = 794 PaperSize = psA4 PaperOrientation = poPortrait TabOrder = 0 object bscshp4: TBasicShape Left = 112 Top = 64 Width = 105 Height = 105 PrintKind = pkNormal PrintGroupIndex = 0 Zooming = 100 Transparent = False Repeating = False PageRepeatOffset = 1 ShapeStyle = ssVertical LinePosition = 2 end object bscshp5: TBasicShape Left = 288 Top = 24 Width = 105 Height = 105 PrintKind = pkNormal PrintGroupIndex = 0 Zooming = 100 Transparent = False What the hell happens ??????? I have never seen that. I compiled the unit several times... Encoutered no problem. Maybe the cause is beyond this. I feel completely powerless.

• WiX 3 Tutorial: Custom EULA License and MSI localization

- by Mladen Prajdic
In this part of the ongoing Wix tutorial series we’ll take a look at how to localize your MSI into different languages. We’re still the mighty SuperForm: Program that takes care of all your label color needs. :) Localizing the MSI With WiX 3.0 localizing an MSI is pretty much a simple and straightforward process. First let look at the WiX project Properties->Build. There you can see "Cultures to build" textbox. Put specific cultures to build into the testbox or leave it empty to build all of them. Cultures have to be in correct culture format like en-US, en-GB or de-DE. Next we have to tell WiX which cultures we actually have in our project. Take a look at the first post in the series about Solution/Project structure and look at the Lang directory in the project structure picture. There we have de-de and en-us subfolders each with its own localized stuff. In the subfolders pay attention to the WXL files Loc_de-de.wxl and Loc_en-us.wxl. Each one has a <String Id="LANG"> under the WixLocalization root node. By including the string with id LANG we tell WiX we want that culture built. For English we have <String Id="LANG">1033</String>, for German <String Id="LANG">1031</String> in Loc_de-de.wxl and for French we’d have to create another file Loc_fr-FR.wxl and put <String Id="LANG">1036</String>. WXL files are localization files. Any string we want to localize we have to put in there. To reference it we use loc keyword like this: !(loc.IdOfTheVariable) => !(loc.MustCloseSuperForm) This is our Loc_en-us.wxl. Note that German wxl has an identical structure but values are in German. <WixLocalization Culture="en-us" xmlns="http://schemas.microsoft.com/wix/2006/localization" Codepage="1252"> <String Id="LANG">1033</String> <String Id="ProductName">SuperForm</String> <String Id="LicenseRtf" Overridable="yes">\Lang\en-us\EULA_en-us.rtf</String> <String Id="ManufacturerName">My Company Name</String> <String Id="AppNotSupported">This application is is not supported on your current OS. Minimal OS supported is Windows XP SP2</String> <String Id="DotNetFrameworkNeeded">.NET Framework 3.5 is required. Please install the .NET Framework then run this installer again.</String> <String Id="MustCloseSuperForm">Must close SuperForm!</String> <String Id="SuperFormNewerVersionInstalled">A newer version of !(loc.ProductName) is already installed.</String> <String Id="ProductKeyCheckDialog_Title">!(loc.ProductName) setup</String> <String Id="ProductKeyCheckDialogControls_Title">!(loc.ProductName) Product check</String> <String Id="ProductKeyCheckDialogControls_Description">Plese Enter following information to perform the licence check.</String> <String Id="ProductKeyCheckDialogControls_FullName">Full Name:</String> <String Id="ProductKeyCheckDialogControls_Organization">Organization:</String> <String Id="ProductKeyCheckDialogControls_ProductKey">Product Key:</String> <String Id="ProductKeyCheckDialogControls_InvalidProductKey">The product key you entered is invalid. Please call user support.</String> </WixLocalization> As you can see from the file we can use localization variables in other variables like we do for SuperFormNewerVersionInstalled string. ProductKeyCheckDialog* strings are to localize a custom dialog for Product key check which we’ll look at in the next post. Built in dialog text localization Under the de-de folder there’s also the WixUI_de-de.wxl file. This files contains German translations of all texts that are in WiX built in dialogs. It can be downloaded from WiX 3.0.5419.0 Source Forge site. Download the wix3-sources.zip and go to \src\ext\UIExtension\wixlib. There you’ll find already translated all WiX texts in 12 Languages. Localizing the custom EULA license Here it gets ugly. We can override the default EULA license easily by overriding WixUILicenseRtf WiX variable like this: <WixVariable Id="WixUILicenseRtf" Value="License.rtf" /> where License.rtf is the name of your custom EULA license file. The downside of this method is that you can only have one license file which means no localization for it. That’s why we need to make a workaround. License is checked on a dialog name LicenseAgreementDialog. What we have to do is overwrite that dialog and insert the functionality for localization. This is a code for LicenseAgreementDialogOverwritten.wxs, an overwritten LicenseAgreementDialog that supports localization. LicenseAcceptedOverwritten replaces the LicenseAccepted built in variable. <Wix xmlns="http://schemas.microsoft.com/wix/2006/wi"> <Fragment> <UI> <Dialog Id="LicenseAgreementDialogOverwritten" Width="370" Height="270" Title="!(loc.LicenseAgreementDlg_Title)"> <Control Id="LicenseAcceptedOverwrittenCheckBox" Type="CheckBox" X="20" Y="207" Width="330" Height="18" CheckBoxValue="1" Property="LicenseAcceptedOverwritten" Text="!(loc.LicenseAgreementDlgLicenseAcceptedCheckBox)" /> <Control Id="Back" Type="PushButton" X="180" Y="243" Width="56" Height="17" Text="!(loc.WixUIBack)" /> <Control Id="Next" Type="PushButton" X="236" Y="243" Width="56" Height="17" Default="yes" Text="!(loc.WixUINext)"> <Publish Event="SpawnWaitDialog" Value="WaitForCostingDlg">CostingComplete = 1</Publish> <Condition Action="disable"> LicenseAcceptedOverwritten <> "1" </Condition> <Condition Action="enable">LicenseAcceptedOverwritten = "1"</Condition> </Control> <Control Id="Cancel" Type="PushButton" X="304" Y="243" Width="56" Height="17" Cancel="yes" Text="!(loc.WixUICancel)"> <Publish Event="SpawnDialog" Value="CancelDlg">1</Publish> </Control> <Control Id="BannerBitmap" Type="Bitmap" X="0" Y="0" Width="370" Height="44" TabSkip="no" Text="!(loc.LicenseAgreementDlgBannerBitmap)" /> <Control Id="LicenseText" Type="ScrollableText" X="20" Y="60" Width="330" Height="140" Sunken="yes" TabSkip="no"> <Text SourceFile="$(var.ProjectDir)\!(loc.LicenseRtf)" /> </Control> <Control Id="Print" Type="PushButton" X="112" Y="243" Width="56" Height="17" Text="!(loc.WixUIPrint)"> <Publish Event="DoAction" Value="WixUIPrintEula">1</Publish> </Control> <Control Id="BannerLine" Type="Line" X="0" Y="44" Width="370" Height="0" /> <Control Id="BottomLine" Type="Line" X="0" Y="234" Width="370" Height="0" /> <Control Id="Description" Type="Text" X="25" Y="23" Width="340" Height="15" Transparent="yes" NoPrefix="yes" Text="!(loc.LicenseAgreementDlgDescription)" /> <Control Id="Title" Type="Text" X="15" Y="6" Width="200" Height="15" Transparent="yes" NoPrefix="yes" Text="!(loc.LicenseAgreementDlgTitle)" /> </Dialog> </UI> </Fragment></Wix> Look at the Control with Id "LicenseText” and read the comments. We’ve changed the original license text source to "$(var.ProjectDir)\!(loc.LicenseRtf)". var.ProjectDir is the directory of the project file. The !(loc.LicenseRtf) is where the magic happens. Scroll up and take a look at the wxl localization file example. We have the LicenseRtf declared there and it’s been made overridable so developers can change it if they want. The value of the LicenseRtf is the path to our localized EULA relative to the WiX project directory. With little hacking we’ve achieved a fully localizable installer package. The final step is to insert the extended LicenseAgreementDialogOverwritten license dialog into the installer GUI chain. This is how it’s done under the <UI> node of course. <UI> <Publish Dialog="WelcomeDlg" Control="Next" Event="NewDialog" Value="LicenseAgreementDialogOverwritten">1</Publish> <Publish Dialog="LicenseAgreementDialogOverwritten" Control="Back" Event="NewDialog" Value="WelcomeDlg">1</Publish> <Publish Dialog="LicenseAgreementDialogOverwritten" Control="Next" Event="NewDialog" Value="ProductKeyCheckDialog">LicenseAcceptedOverwritten = "1" AND NOT OLDER_VERSION_FOUND</Publish> <Publish Dialog="InstallDirDlg" Control="Back" Event="NewDialog" Value="ProductKeyCheckDialog">1</Publish> </UI> For a thing that should be simple for the end developer to do, localization can be a bit advanced for the novice WiXer. Hope this post makes the journey easier and that next versions of WiX improve this process. • Oracle Database 11g R2 támogatott SAP alatt is

- by Lajos Sárecz
A rendszergazdai szerepkörök szeparaláhatóvá válnak a Database Vault felhasználásával. A Real Application Clusters 11g R2 újdonságai is elérheto lesznek.

• New Walkthrough Capability in AutoVue 20

- by warren.baird
New in AutoVue 20 is the capability to view a 3D model of a building from the inside - this is a very powerful tool for anyone who needs to work with models of plants, refineries, or other buildings. All of the standard AutoVue functionality is available, so you can click on any part of the building to get attribute data, manipulate the view, do measurement, etc. For example, in the image below we've made the Architectural model (Walls, Floors, etc.) transparent, but left the electrical and mechanical models opaque, so it's easy to see where the wires and piping run behind the walls. Additionally you can bring together different files and different types of files, using our digital mockup capability - in the image below the heating and air conditioning sytem on the left came from one file, and the electrical box on the right came from another wile, and the model of the room came from yet a third file, but with everything brought together into AutoVue you can do things like use our measurement capability to ensure there's enough space to get maintenance equipment down the hallway, before the building is even built. For more information about Walkthrough, you can view a video demo at http://download.oracle.com/autovue/3D_walkthrough_movie.wmv We're very excited about this new capability - do you think this will be useful for you in your work with AutoVue? • NRF Online Merchandising Workshop: Where Online Retailers Are Focusing for Holiday and Beyond

The one-on-one conversations with Merchants and the keynote presentations carry the same themes across companies of all sizes and across verticals. With only 125 days left (and counting) until Black Friday, these conversations provided some great insight in to what’s top of mind for retailers during the most stressful time of their year, and a sneak peek in to what they will deliver this holiday season. Some of the most popular topics were: When to start promoting for holiday: seems like a funny conversation to have in July, but a number of retailers said they already had their holiday shopping gift guides live on their site, and it was attracting a significant portion of their onsite traffic. When it comes to timing, most retailers were questioning when to begin their holiday promotions -- carefully balancing when to release pricing and specials, and knowing that customers are holding out for last-minute deals and price drops. Many retailers noted the frustrations around transparent pricing by Amazon and a few other mega-retailers last year, publishing their “lowest prices of the season” as early as October – ensuring shoppers that those prices were the best they could get all season long. Many retailers felt their hands were forced to drop prices. Others kept their set pricing with negative customer reaction, causing some to miss their holiday goals. The pressure is on, and most retailers identified November 1 as their target start date for the holiday promotions blitz. Some are even waiting for the big guys to release their “lowest prices of the season” guides and will then follow suit. Attribution is tough – and a huge focus: understanding the path to conversion is a tough nut to crack, especially in the new omnichannel world where consumers use multiple touchpoints to make a single purchase, and internal management wants to know hard data. This has lead many retailers to invest in attribution; carefully tracking their online marketing efforts to determine what gets “credit” for the sale, instead of giving credit to the “last click.” Retailers noted that it is very difficult to determine the numbers when online and offline worlds collide – like when a shopper uses digital channels for research and then makes a purchase in a store. As one of the presenters from The North Face mentioned in her keynote, a key to enabling better customer service and satisfaction when it comes to converged online and offline sales is training the in-store staff, and creating a culture where it eventually “doesn’t matter what group gets the credit” if they all add to the sale. No doubt, the area of attribution will be a big area of retail investment in the coming years. How to plan for the converged world: planning to ensure inventory gets where it needs to be was another concern. In conversations with retailers, we advised them to analyze customer patterns: where shoppers purchase items, where the items were sourced from and even where items are returned. This analysis is very valuable in determining inventory plans. From there, retailers can more accurately plan and allocate inventory to support both the online and offline customer behavior. As we head into the holiday season, the need for accurate enterprise-wide inventory visibility, and providing that information to associates, is even more critical to the brand-wide customer experience. Improving the search / navigation / usability of the site(s): Aside from some of the big ideas and standard holiday pricing pressure, most conversations we had centered around continuing to improve the basics of the site. Reinvesting in search and navigation came up time and time again (FitForCommerce blogged about what a big topic it was at the event as well). Obviously getting shoppers on their path quickly and allowing them to find what they need fast is critical, but it was definitely interesting to hear just how much effort is still going in to honing the search and navigation experience. Adding new elements to search and navigation like typeahed, inventive navigation refinements, and new navigation categories like gift guides, specialized boutiques and flash sales were top of mind, in addition to searchandising and making search-driven product recommendations. (Oracle can help!) Reducing cart abandonment: always a hot topic that is top of mind for every online retailer. Getting shoppers to the cart is often less then half the battle; getting them to click “buy” and complete the transaction is much more difficult. While retailers carefully study the checkout process and where shoppers tend to bounce, they know that how they design their checkout page is critical. We’re all online shoppers in our personal lives and we know how frustrating it can be when total prices are not transparent (i.e. shipping, processing, taxes is not included until the very last possible screen before clicking that buy button). Online retailers are struggling with where in the checkout process to surface the total price to be charged to reduce cart abandonment, while not showing the total figure too early in the process that it keeps shoppers from getting to checkout altogether. Recent research shows that providing total pricing prior to the checkout process dramatically reduces cart abandonment – as it serves as a filter to those shopping within a specific price band. Much of the cart abandonment discussion leads us to… The free shipping / free returns question: it’s no secret that because of Amazon and programs like Prime, consumers expect free shipping, much to the chagrin of the smaller retailer. The reality is that if you’re not a mega-retailer, shipping is an expensive part of doing business that doesn’t allow most retailers to keep their prices low and offer free shipping. This has many retailers venturing out on the “free returns” path, especially in apparel. A number of retailers we spoke with are testing a flat rate shipping fee with free returns to see if they can crack the price threshold where shoppers are willing to pay for shipping with an added service. But, free shipping remains king. Social ads and retargeting: they are working, but do they turn off consumers? That’s the big question. Every retailer we spoke with during a roundtable on the topic said that social ads and retargeting (where that pair of boots you’re been eyeing on a site magically follows you around the Internet) work and are meeting campaign goals. The larger question many retailers are asking is if this type of tactic is turning off a large number of shoppers, even if these campaigns are meeting their early goals. Retailers also mentioned that Facebook ads are working very well for them, especially when it comes to new customer acquisition, serving as a complimentary a channel to SEO when it comes to engaging new customers. While there are always new things to experiment with in retail, standard challenges are top of mind as retailers scramble to get ready for holiday. It will undoubtedly be another record-breaking online shopping season, but as retailers get more and more advanced with each Black Friday, expect some exciting things. This excitement needs to be backed by sound solutions and optimized operations. Then again, consumers are expecting more than ever, so I don’t doubt that retailers are already thinking about the possibilities of holiday 2015… and beyond. • How to Change Ubuntu’s Window Borders with Emerald

- by The Geek
The look of your operating system is all about the panels and the window borders, so now that we’ve shown you how to customize your panels, it’s time to customize the window borders to make Ubuntu look the way you want it to. For the purposes of this article, we’re going to assume that you’ve got the Compiz compositing window manager running—which is what provides the custom window effects found in Ubuntu. This means the technique probably won’t work in a virtual machine, or a really old PC. This is the third installment of our series on customizing Ubuntu by geeky reader Omar Hafiz—be sure and check out the first article, where he explained how to make your panels transparent, and the second article, where he explained how to customize the fonts and colors of those panels Latest Features How-To Geek ETC How To Make Hundreds of Complex Photo Edits in Seconds With Photoshop Actions How to Enable User-Specific Wireless Networks in Windows 7 How to Use Google Chrome as Your Default PDF Reader (the Easy Way) How To Remove People and Objects From Photographs In Photoshop Ask How-To Geek: How Can I Monitor My Bandwidth Usage? • Why does my computer crash when I minimise the last window?

- by TRiG
I am runnung Ubuntu 12.04 LTS. If I have a few windows open (say four to six, not a large amount), and minimise all by pressing Ctrl+Super+D, they all minimise immediately with no problems. However, if I minimise them one at a time, by clicking the minimise button with my mouse, the last one often hangs. Usually it will appear as a ghost on the screen for a while, semi-minimised (in other words, shrunk toward the Unity launcher bar, half-size or smaller, and semi-transparent). Usually it will eventually clear; sometimes the computer just freezes and I have to restart it. It doesn’t seem to matter what the window actually is. Just now, I had to restart my computer with Skype* semi-minimised. I’ve seen it freeze before with the Terminal semi-minimised (and the Terminal wasn’t even doing anything at the time). The only pattern is that it’s always the last window minimised which freezes, and that minimising all windows together using the keyboard shortcut works fine. What on earth is going on, and how can I stop it? * I hate Skype, but I need it for work.

• OpenGL ES Shader help (Blending)

- by Chris
Earlier I required assistance getting to grips with how to retain the alpha channel of a transparent texture in my colourised texture shader program. Whilst playing with that first version of my program (before obtaining the solution to my first requirement), I managed to enable transparency for the whole texture (effectively blending via GLSL), and I quite liked this, and I would now like to know if and how it is possible to retain this blending effect, on top of the existing output without affecting the original alpha channel - as I don't know how to input this transparency via the parameter that is already being provided with the textures alpha channel. A basic example of the blending program I am referring to (minus any other functionality) is as follows... varying vec2 texCoord; uniform sampler2D texSampler; void main() { gl_FragColor = vec4(texture2D(texSampler,texCoord).xyz,0.5); } Where 0.5 is the transparency (blending effect) of the whole texture. This is the current version of my program, which provides the ability to colour a texture according the colour parameter passed to the program, and retains the alpha channel of the original texture. varying vec2 texCoord; uniform sampler2D texSampler; uniform vec3 colour; void main() { gl_FragColor = vec4(colour,1) * vec4(texture2D(texSampler,texCoord).xyz,texture2D(texSampler,texCoord).w); } I need to know if it is possible to apply transparency on top this program, without affecting the original alpha channel which I have already preserved. I hope this makes enough sense, I am sure it is possible, and if so I should imagine it is rather simple, but this has me stumped. Any help much appreachiated. Cheers, Chris

• Pivotal Announces JSR-352 Compliance for Spring Batch

- by reza_rahman
Pivotal, the company currently funding development of the popular Spring Framework, recently announced JSR 352 (aka Batch Applications for the Java Platform) compliance for the Spring Batch project. More specifically, Spring Batch targets JSR-352 Java SE runtime compatibility rather than Java EE runtime compatibility. If you are surprised that APIs included in Java EE can pass TCKs targeted for Java SE, you should not be. Many other Java EE APIs target compatibility in Java SE environments such as JMS and JPA. You can read about Spring Batch's support for JSR-352 here as well as the Spring configuration to get JSR-352 working in Spring (typically a very low level implementation concern intended to be completely transparent to most JSR-352 users). JSR 352 is one of the few very encouraging cases of major active contribution to the Java EE standard from the Spring development team (the other major effort being Rod Johnson's co-leadership of JSR 330 along with Bob Lee). While IBM's Christopher Vignola led the spec and contributed IBM's years of highly mission critical batch processing experience from products like WebSphere Compute Grid and z/OS batch, the Spring team provided major influences to the API in particular for the chunk processing, listeners, splits and operational interfaces. The GlassFish team's own Mahesh Kannan also contributed, in particular by implementing much of the Java EE integration work for the reference implementation. This was an excellent example of multilateral engineering collaboration through the standards process. For many complex reasons it is not too hard to find evidence of less than amicable interaction between the Spring ecosystem and the Java EE standard over the years if one cares to dig deep enough. In reality most developers see Spring and Java EE as two sides of the same server-side Java coin. At the core Spring and Java EE ecosystems have always shared deep undercurrents of common user bases, bi-directional flows of ideas and perhaps genuine if not begrudging mutual respect. We can all hope for continued strength for both ecosystems and graceful high notes of collaboration via efforts like JSR 352.

• Scene Graph for Deferred Rendering Engine

- by Roy T.
As a learning exercise I've written a deferred rendering engine. Now I'd like to add a scene graph to this engine but I'm a bit puzzled how to do this. On a normal (forward rendering engine) I would just add all items (All implementing IDrawable and IUpdateAble) to my scene graph, than travel the scene-graph breadth first and call Draw() everywhere. However in a deferred rendering engine I have to separate draw calls. First I have to draw the geometry, then the shadow casters and then the lights (all to different render targets), before I combine them all. So in this case I can't just travel over the scene graph and just call draw. The way I see it I either have to travel over the entire scene graph 3 times, checking what kind of object it is that has to be drawn, or I have to create 3 separate scene graphs that are somehow connected to each other. Both of these seem poor solutions, I'd like to handle scene objects more transparent. One other solution I've thought of was traveling trough the scene graph as normal and adding items to 3 separate lists, separating geometry, shadow casters and lights, and then iterating these lists to draw the correct stuff, is this better, and is it wise to repopulate 3 lists every frame?
