• How to open Firefox's "organize bookmarks" from Vimperator?

  Before using Vimperator, I used Xmarks for organizing and synchronizing bookmarks between computers. Now I installed Vimperator and I can only bookmark a page from command mode with :bmark. How can I open Organize Bookmarks with Vimperator? Besides disabling Vimperator and choosing it from the menu what else can I do? Before, I had CTRL + SHIFT + b to open the organizer. Now, in Vimperator, this shortcut doesn't work anymore, even after temporarily disabling Vimperator with CTRL + z. EDIT After setting the main menu visible (with :set go+=m thanks to Hamish Downer), I saw the shortcut for opening the organize bookmarks dialog (CTRL + SHIFT + o). I recently switched to Ubuntu Linux and in this version of Firefox some keyboard shortcuts are different then in Windows (including the shortcut for opening organize bookmarks). Sorry for my ignorance.

• Attach certificate to remote desktop connection - not gateway services

  I have a Windows server that I want to attach a 3rd party signed certificate for remote desktop connections. This is not a remote desktop services server, i.e. it is just remote desktop administration. There is lots of info on the internet about attaching a certificate to remote desktop services, but I want to attach mine to just plain remote desktop connection for administration purposes. If anyone know how to do this, please holler! I have imported the certificate into the Remote Desktop store in the certificates mmc snap in, and have tried running the wmic command in this question (Configure custom SSL certificate for RDP on Windows Server 2012 in Remote Administration mode?) but this fails. • PC boots on then off & 30 sec. later on again, it wiil shut off on itself mostly in idle or just unexpecticly

  This problem started w/ my sons desktop, it would just shut off after a bit of work or stay on for a long time & to get it to unfreeze is to cold boot it, i put a new HDD in & I still have the same issue, RAM is good power supply fan is moving quite as well as all the rest of the fans it has stayed fairly dust free, i'm at a loss ,I have defaulted all the factory settings changed battery & ungraded to a new OS. I still have the same problem. the power light stays on after it has shut down & when upon starting it goes straight to safe mode option page, I start in last good config. reboots again takes 30 sec. to boot & will work again for a while, the only other thing I haven't tried was a graphic card replace, i'm onboard video now & have been.

• Switching over an email address from a distribution group to a user account in Exchange 2003

  I'm currently in a transition mode. We currently have a Distribution Group called Quotes and Orders that send out emails to several users. I'm told that a better method would be to create a user and then give access to that fictitious user's email account so that everyone would be able to see everything that goes out and is responded to in a single account. However, I'm not sure what the best method would be for creating an account and shutting down the distribution group. I'm thinking more along the lines of the steps that considered best practice to remove the email account from the distribution group and attach it to the user account. Any thoughts?

• Is there anything that can be done to make X forwarding over LAN less painful?

  I have two *nix machines that I like to remotely do graphical things sometimes with. One of those machines is my Arch Linux media server, and another is my OpenBSD router/general server. My current task was installing a Windows XP over virtual box on my media server. I preferred to do the installation from my main workstation so that I could continue to watch TV from my media server on it's "actual" display. I soon noticed that X forwarding is quite painful though, even over low-latency LAN connections. Are there any settings I can tweak to make it a bit less painfully slow, jittery, and laggy? My LAN is rather small, 100Mbit, and ping times to the other box average at about 0.15ms. Also, I know Virtualbox has a VNC mode it can use instead of doing X forwarding, but this particular task was just an example

• How to make a vm scale when demand for resource increases

  i am having a server with 16 virtual core and 24G RAM,using Xen virtualization and ubuntu as dom0 Created 4 VMs (in para mode),each with different applications. CPU Load vary on each vm,somtimes first vm reaches nearly 100% CPU and others under 25% or even less. So is there a way in which vm can get cpu from other vms when they are not actually using it or utilization is under 25%.Same in the case of RAM also. I am not sure whether i am mentioning Cloud here. Initially i would like to give every vm a single VCPU,but can scale up to 8 or more by taking cpu from other vms if they are not using it. Is there any kind of tool that makes vm to scale its resources when demand increases. Is cloudstack and openstack designed for these kind of purpose or is that just a GUI to manage VMs.

• iPod Touch 2g not recognised by iTunes (more information inside)

  My iPod Touch isn't being recognised by iTunes. Details: iPod Touch: 2nd generation / Laptop: Windows Vista / iTunes: latest version I have tried: using different cables; restarted my laptop and iPod. reinstalled iTunes. restarting services that were made by Apple; putting my iPod into restore mode; resetting my iPod; and still no luck getting it to be recognised by iTunes. This iPod works on other computers, and different iPod's work on my laptop. When I stopped all of the Apple services on my laptop, I got a message from iTunes when I connected my iPod saying that I needed to enable the services for it to work. But when I did enable the services again, the iPod still didn't show up on iTunes. I can't think what else I can do to solve the problem. Any ideas? Thank you very much in advance!

• SQL server 2000 reporting bad values to ASP.Net Application

  I have an instance of SQL server 2000 (8.0.2039) with a rather simple table. We recently had users complain about an application I wrote returning bad values for some of the dates in the databse. When I query the table directly via Server Management Studio, it will return the correct values, however the identical queries from my application report the wrong values, but only for a couple of dates. I have been over the code, and it is solid. If the error was in the code, all of the dates reported should be wrong. I have also run the code on an identical test database, and everything is reported properly. I believe the problem may lie in the sql instance itself, which is why I am posting in Server Fault. My question is, has anyone heard of a database reporting bad (incorrect) date values when queried via web application? It should be noted that this particular server was once manually rebuilt after having a cluster clean run on it.

  Exchange 2010 sp2 Outlook 2007/2010 Server 2008 I have managed to set up several room mailboxes in exchange, people are able to book the rooms and they get a response from the exchange server. this is brilliant. however users are unable to view the calendar of the room mailbox to see what times are available, in a ideal world I would like users to only see if the room is free or not. • When send a meeting invite to a specific user, you get a undeliverable response back from another us

  We have a user, where it doesn't matter who sends it, but if you send her a meeting invite through outlook (exchange 2007), you get a non-deliverable message back from another user. Same one all the time though. I checked her shared calendar properties and removed the user from the list. I checked and made sure she wasn't using cache mode. I checked the manage full permissions and send permissions within exchange and the user is not listed. What am I missing? Notes: Using Outlook 2007 with Exchange 2007 on a XP box and Server 2008.

• Will disabling NAT on my wireless router cause a performance hit on my DSL router?

  I have a Thomson TG508v2 router/modem and a brand new AirPort Extreme connected to it. At first, I set the AirPort Extreme to "share a public IP", which enables DHCP/NAT. Everything works great but I was having the Double NAT error. So I set the AirPort Extreme as bridge mode, which disables DHCP/NAT and let my crappy modem handle my internal network IPs. Will this cause any performance hit in my network? I'm worried because I'll outsource this job from AirPort Extreme (premium hardware) to the crappy modem. Before you suggest, I tried setting my modem as a bridge and configuring PPPoE on the AirPort Extreme, however it wouldn't connect to the internet, so I just dismissed leaving the modem as bridge.

• Adaptec 2020SA RAID controller Set up in RAID5, one drive went down, can I still get data?

  I have 6 1tb drives in a RAID5. 1 drive went down. On the RAID was 2 virtual machines that I really need back up and running. The spare drive I have to put in the server is a 1.5tb drive, which exceeds the physical per drive limit of the 2020SA. The drive is found in the disk utility, but it is not found in the array management section. I cannot add the drive to the array to have it rebuild. I have a replacement drive along with some spares on their way from Newegg, but I am still looking at a few days of downtime. Is it possible to use the 5 working drives to get the VMs copied off and on to another server or do I just have to wait for the drives to get here?

My desire is to utilize both of them with some load balancing. • How to disable a McAfee service?

  I am trying to disable a McAfee Real-Time Protection service, but if I go into Services/Properties, then try to set it to Manual or Disable - it says that unable to open service McShield for writing on Local Computer. Error 5. Access is denied. I've tried logging in as an Admin, to no avail. I've tried resetting permissions in the registry to the key where the McAfee service is described...nothing helped. Logging in with Safe Mode did not help either. How can I disable this service? Is there a way to disable a service before even getting into Windows? P.S. Uninstalling McAfee is not an option.

  I shoot photos in RAW+JPEG mode since I got my DSLR. In the beginning I only used the JPEGs but lately I'm using RAW more and more. Unfortunately I imported only JPEGs in my first projects in Aperture. I already tagged, starred and cropped a lot of images and don't want to loose these information. But I would now like to "add" the RAWs to the old masters, so I can do more editing on these images.   We recently introduced Kerberos (SPNEGO) Single Sign-on in our web-portal, and tested it on a Windows network with Windows 2003 domain controller. Now, trying to test it on Windows 2008 R2 controlled network, SSO just doesn't work due to defective tokens. Up to the moment I was pretty sure that there's something wrong about environment and that were NTLM tokens. We double checked IE settings etc, but nothing helped. Then we checked the following settings for both users (logged on a client test-machine, and the one used as a Service Principal): This account supports Kerberos AES 128 bit encryption. This account supports Kerberos AES 256 bit encryption. .. and error message changed to ' GSSException: Failure unspecified at GSS-API level (Mechanism level: Encryption type AES256CTS mode with HMAC SHA1-96 is not supported/enabled) It makes me think that Internet Explorer receives Kerberos tokens at all times, and there's just some configuration missing, or it was ktpass.exe to be incorrectly executed.   I have a time management application that I use at home quite a lot and have running most of the time. At home, I have a desktop PC and a couple of laptops scattered around the house...all networked together. Unfortunately, the application I use is not multi-user and I risk losing/corrupting data if it has been left running on one computer inadvertently while I start using it on another one in another part of the house. I use Live Mesh to automatically keep the application's database synced across the different computers and I just need some way of making sure that I don't start using the application on another computer before closing it down on the previous one. Anyone know of any Windows software that can detect if an application is running simultaneously on different computers on my network, and warn me if I am about to have two open at the same time?

• How to solve my black screen at boot?

  I've got a friend with a weird problem. When he starts his computer the screen is completely black until the computer is completely started. So the screen is black until it suddenly shows the Windows desktop. He said that this is happening since a technical service repaired his computer, but that repair is not now in warranty. Recently the computer stopped working, but as the screen is black he cannot access to BIOS or start in safe mode (by pressing F8). When he inserts the Windows Vista DVD the system doesn't boot from DVD (it mustn't be configured in this way in the BIOS). Maybe there´s a problem with the hardware (maybe the graphic card)? Can anyone explain a reason why the screen is black during start-up? Any idea of what to do with the computer to restore it?

• HDMI Audio drops out when display enters powersave

  I have a Windows 8 machine with an AMD APU attached to my Home Theater system through HDMI (HDMI routes through a Home Theater AMP, then into the TV). Here's my problem, Whenever the display is interrupted, usually by the TV being turned off or into powersave mode, the audio device lists as "Disconnected" in windows audio devices and I cant get it to re-recognize that the HDMI audio is, in fact, plugged in. The only solution I have found so far is to restart the machine, which will then recognize the device without any problems, until the next time the TV turns off and the problem once again resurfaces. Has anyone else seen this phenomenon? I have no idea if its the GPU, the HDMI interface, the AMP, or even the TV itself, as there really isn't much a way to tell...
