• Geographic location settings

  I am building an website. It has an .nl domain. Now only my domain is showing up on google.nl I hope I can change this somehow that it could be findable in all google's (like google.com / co.uk) and so on. If I look on google forums. They say go to webmaster tools and change your geographic position over there. But I have added this site and I am not able to change it there because there is no select box. I dont have any idea were to search (yes I searched on google offcourse) or where to ask for this special problem. So maybe here can someone redirect me or explain me what is possible and what not. • Tracking 502 bad gateway error

  I moved my Wordpress site to WP Engine and now I constantly get 502 errors. I spoke with support and they said that its because I have a lot of DB queries. I ran some tests and my frontpage only has 95 queries and page size is about 500kb. Most inner pages are around 60 queries. All queries are very short. Some people tell me its common with WP Engine because they run nginx. Why do I keep getting these errors and is there a way to track how many of them happen on daily basis? P.S. WP Engine log is empty so cant see the 502's there.

  I am having an e-commerce site and current URL structure is like this: www.example.com/category1 [Category landing page] www.example.com/category1/sub-category [sub-category listing page] www.example.com/category1/sub-category/product-name [Product Details page] I am finding it difficult to identify from the URLs whether the URL is category landing page or a listing page or a product details page (primarily in Google Analytics). To solve this problem, I am thinking of adding qualifiers in the URL as follows: www.example.com/category1/cat-land [Category landing page] www.example.com/category1/sub-category/cat-list [sub-category listing page] www.example.com/category1/sub-category/product-name/prod-details [Product Details page] Original URLs would be redirected to new URLs using 301 permanent redirect. Would this have any negative effect on existing SEO and Google ranking?

• Determining if a visitor left your server

  We have an Apache server running a PHP website. The site is an e-commerce shop. We currently use Barclays as the payment provider but are seeing a lot of customers drop out at the point at which we transfer them to the payment gateway (hosted with Barclays) I can see specific instances in the shop where orders have been created but not paid/failed but I need to ascertain if the user has definitely left our server (or just failed to reach Barclays). Is there anything in any of the server/access logs that states when a user transferred to a different domain?

  Hi there, I am working on a site that where I do not have permission to the server and someone else keeps changing the settings. That person just changed the settings preventing users from going to example.com/foo/ and seeing the index page. This Virtual Directory does not allow contents to be listed. If you type in example.com/foo/index.html you can still see the file. So I want to use htaccess to redirect all urls that end in a directory to change into directory/index.html How do I write that? I started with some code that changes .php files to .html files and tried to work from that but I couldn't quite get it to work. RewriteRule ^(.*)\.php$ /$1.html [R=301,L] Any suggestions?

• My Herokuapp is inaccessible from custom domain name

  I have a Heroku app that is located at myapp.herokuapp.com. I have mapped a domain name to this app, using the A properties. I followed the instructions on Heroku's website to the letter, and it worked for a few days. Now when I try to access the site from the custom domain, it's timing out! On Chrome, I am getting "Oops! Google Chrome could not find that page!" message. I tried pinging the name as well, but I got this error: ping: cannot resolve yourhostname.org: Unknown host The app itself is working and I don't see any error messages from Heroku. Or from new Relic. What's going on here? Also tried running host and this was the error message: ;; connection timed out; no servers could be reached

• Good analytics tools that can track visitor actions from a particular source?

  Are there good tools that can track what actions a certain subset of visitors (i.e. from a particular source) do once they're on your site? As far as I know (which could be wrong), Google Analytics can't do this beyond telling you how long they stayed, bounce rate, and average number of pages. I'm looking for something that can tell me which links they clicked on, and if possible break it down per-visitor. Free solutions would be great, but I'm anticipating that this would require a paid solution.

  Hi. We are a company that is distributed in several places over Europe (real offices). Each office has its own domain. company.de company.co.uk company.ch And so. Our website servers are located in one place. We can't distribute our site to different locations. How can we create a local IP in each location to show our main server. so google will see us as local ip. Explanation: Google has decided to increase your PR if you have a local IP, they think that if you bought a server in a local market means that you are very serious about your business.   I got interested in the Soviet space program and was interested to discover that the software on the Buran spacecraft circa 1988 was written in Prolog. Does anyone know what languages might have been used in earlier missions, especially the Mars PrOP-M rover missions of the early 1970s which were somewhat autonomous and could navigate obstacles? • Ubuntu 14.04 compiz thumbnails preview flicker

  Ubuntu 14.04.1 x64 (upgraded from 12.04) with Unity desktop Dell Latitude with NVIDIA GF119M (NVS 4200M) - Optimus is DISABLED Using NVIDIA legacy binary driver 304.117 When I set the CCSM option to allow thumbnail previews, the thumbnail 'flickers' for about 1 second before the actual thumbnail image is displayed. I don't think I had this enabled under 12.04 so not sure if it's version-specific. Should I be using a different driver (there are newer ones - Ubu shows NVIDIA binary driver 331.38 and the non-proprietary nouveau, plus NVIDIA has newer ones at the site)? TIA!

• Can we 301 redirect to a new page, but still publish the old content somewhere else?

  We have a page on the site which ranks well for an SEO term (top 5) but contains old information. We have added a new page but Google doesn't rank it that well. Information on these pages is time sensitive. Old: example.com/2013-related-information.html New: example.com/2014-related-information.html Obvious solution is to delete old page and do a 301 redirect to the new page. Now, can we still keep the old page by giving it a new URL. example.com/2013-related-information.html is redirected to example.com/2014-related-information.html example.com/2014-related-information.html is recreated with a new address such as example.com/new-2013-related-information.html What we are trying to do is to send the user to the fresh page but still not destroying the record copy if someone wants to go and dig up the old information.

For example, my top four includes the following: No internet restrictions - Because honestly ever few hours I need a 15 min deload, which usually involves checking my gmail account and or browsing a few choice site. Personal office with a door - for obvious reasons Dual monitors - do people really develop software with one monitor still? Flexible hours - This could be interpreted in different ways, but basically I really appreciate that fact that I can roll into work at 7am, 11am or whenever and the time police aren't on my back. It is just understood that I will put in my 8 hours or more if needed and get my job done however that works out.

  I rebuilt a web app to replace a version that we have been using for the last 3-4 years. We have a few thousand clients and a few hundred active users per day. The functionality is basically the same. The new version is a little bit faster with a few enhancement features and there are a lot of behind the scenes changes that the clients will never see. The UI is quite different but ultimately much easier to use and navigate. How should I go about having our clients stop using the old system and start using the new one? I am currently putting together a video that will play on the web site as well as within the app. The video will go through the pages and focus on some key changes. • It appears you are running a x server NVIDIA Drivers 304.02 Ubuntu 12.04

  So I went to NVIDIA's site and I saw they had a version with a lot of bug fixes. http://www.geforce.com/drivers/results/49073 and I downloaded it, I ran the .run file rooted. It keeps saying "It appears you are running a x server" I don't have any current NVIDIA driver installed, I tried the nvidia x-config thing but that didn't work. It just says it can't be found. Should I wait until that version gets on Ubuntu's software center? I don't feel like installing their old and bad version of the drivers.

• Does Google counts backlinks from homepage to inside pages?

  I have a site with good PR and my inside pages are getting increase of PR, but they don't have links pointing to them, only from my homepage. Does that means that Google counts ALL links on my homepage, including links to inside pages? Does it calculate inside pages PR with one coming from my domain, my homepage, too? Also, if inside pages that got high PR from homepage have link back to homepage, will that increase homepage PR additionally, since those links should count too? By Google PR algorithm formula, by calculations on Wikipedia and Stanford PR algorithm explanation ( which is originally developed by ) it counts those links, and also it counts after-increase backlink again, making few times circle ( it stops because of d ( 0.85 ) factor. ), but it counts them. Does anyone know is this correct?
