  • Why is Flexigird not working on IE

    - by Jrubins
Hi I have a page with a flexigrid on it and it works on FF,Chrome,Opera except IE. it points out that the error is at line of "if(!btn.separator)" which is null or not an object. Well, every thing inside that block is an error on IE cause i think the error is on the "btn" objects.. has anyone ever encountered this error? this is from the latest version of flexigrid for(i=0;i< p.buttons.length;i++){ var btnfor = p.buttons[i]; if(!btn.separator) { //do things here } } Thanks Jrubins

  • Is there a more elegant solution than an if-statement with no else clause?

    - by Jay
In the following code, if Control (the element that trigers Toggle's first OL) is not Visible it should be set Visible and all other Controls (Controls[i]) so be Hidden. .js function Toggle(Control){ var Controls=document.getElementsByTagName("ol",document.getElementById("Quote_App")); var Control=Control.getElementsByTagName("ol")[0]; if(Control.style.visibility!="visible"){ for(var i=0;i<Controls.length;i++){ if(Controls[i]!=Control){ Reveal("hide",20,0.3,Controls[i]); }else{ Reveal("show",20,0.3,Control); }; }; }else{ Reveal("hide",20,0.3,Control); }; }; Although the function [Toggle] works fine, it is actually setting Controls[i] to Hidden even if it is already. This is easily rectified by adding an If statement as in the code below, surely there is a more elegant solution, maybe a complex If condition? .js function Toggle(Control){ var Controls=document.getElementsByTagName("ol",document.getElementById("Quote_App")); var Control=Control.getElementsByTagName("ol")[0]; if(Control.style.visibility!="visible"){ for(var i=0;i<Controls.length;i++){ if(Controls[i]!=Control){ if(Controls[i].style.visibility=="visible"){ Reveal("hide",20,0.3,Controls[i]); }; }else{ Reveal("show",20,0.3,Control); }; }; }else{ Reveal("hide",20,0.3,Control); }; }; Your help is appreciated always.

  • Adding li element only if it not already there?

    - by Legend
I am constructing an <li> element like this: var element = $("<li></li>") .html(mHTML) .attr('id', "elemid"); I am trying to add this element to a <ul> element only if it doesn't already exist. Any ideas on how to do this? Am I supposed to use contains() to see if the ul element contain the html and then decide? For instance, <ul id="elemul"> <li id="elemli1">Element 1</li> <li id="elemli2">Element 2</li> <li id="elemli3">Element 3</li> </ul> If I try adding Element 1, it should not add it. What should I do if its a longer string (not really long but about 150 characters). Note: I cannot rely on IDs to determine the uniqueness. i.e. I might end up forming something like: <li id="elemli3">Element 1</li> Do I go about using hashmaps?

  • Starting an ASP.NET MVC 4 project. Is it necessary to use RequireJS if I'm using bundling?

    - by SCS
If RequireJS makes it so that multiple js files are combined into a single main.js file, is it essentially the same as ASP.NET's script bundling functionality? Would the only bonus of using RequireJS in addition to bundling be the ability to have certain scripts be loaded according to RequireJS configuration? I'm very new to both bundling and RequireJS, but after doing some reading, it seems like bundling takes care of multiple requests to load several js files. Are there any other things I might be missing out on with regards to using RequireJS with bundling?

  • IE7 & IE8 error executing function with ajax

    - by Yahreen
I am loading an ajax page which executes an HTML5 video player script. The function for the Flash fallback is html5media(); : //Load 1st Case Study $("#splash").live('click', function (e) { $(this).fadeOut('slow', function () { $('#case-studies').load('case-study-1.html', function() { html5media(); //initiate Flash fallback }).fadeIn(); }); e.preventDefault(); }); This initial page load works fine in IE7 & IE8. The problem is once this page is loaded, there are links to 4 more videos which are loaded in again using ajax. I use this function: //Switcher function csClients(url, client) { $("#case-studies").fadeOut('slow', function() { $('#case-studies').load(url, function () { html5media(); //initiate Flash fallback }).fadeIn(); }); } //Page Loader $("#cs-client-list li.client1 a").live('click', function(e) { csClients('case-study-1.html', 'client1'); e.preventDefault(); }); Originally I was using return false; but none of the sub-page Flash videos would load in IE7. When I switched to preventDefault, the videos loaded in IE7 but still not in IE8. I also get a weird error in both IE7 & IE8 with no helpful feedback: Error on Page: Unspecified error. / (Line 49) Code: 0 (Char 5) URI: http://www.mysite.com This is line 49 in my index page: <section id="case-studies" class="main-section"> I have a feeling it has to do with calling html5media(); too many times? At a loss...

  • How to get attributes values separately for each container present on the webpage in jquery ?

    - by Rachel
This question is in continuation to How to get attributes of container in jquer, I have different containers on my webpage and all of them have <div id = "some values"> now how can I get attributes values separately for each component ? Is there any way I can know which attribute id belong to which container div ? Currently I am using : var id = $( '.promotion' ).attr( 'id' ); But if I have multiple promotional components on page and all have same div attribute as id than how can I relate that this particular attribute id belonged to this specific container ? Update: I am having a function which is called for each container present on the page and so if I am using above mentioned code than will it not always return me the first match for id in the div and would never go to other divs and so I will always get same value for id which is for the first container ? If so than what is the work around for this ? Hope this question is clear.

  • How to decide if a parameter is the click event

    - by sameold
I have a function which can be called by either a click event or directly. When I call it directly, I need pass it a data parameter, so I've defined the function to accept a parameter to account for the direct call with the parameter. function myFunc(param){ } Within the function, I need to differentiate whether the function was called directly or from the click event, so what I thought I could simply check if param is set. If it's set, then the function is called directly. If it's not set, then it's called from the click event. The problem is that a click event by default passes an event object. So even when the function is called by the click event, param won't be null. So is there a way to check whether the param passed is the click event?

  • How can accomplish an if else statement from the underscore template to mustache

    - by user2942566
    I have an underscore template and I have to use Mustache to render it. Below is my underscore template: <div id="sub-account"> <p>something</p> <table> <tr><td>Name</td> </tr> <tbody> <% _.each(accountList, function(account) { %> <tr> <td><%= account.get('name') %></td> </tr> <% }) %> </tbody> </table> </div> Im using a mustache as my main view to render a list. I also added _.templateSettings = { evaluate : /\{\[([\s\S]+?)\]\}/g, interpolate : /\{\{([\s\S]+?)\}\}/g, escape : /<%-([\s\S]+?)%>/g, }; to my undersocre.js settings. How can i loop through the code to render as a mustache template. Any ideas???

  • Is it safe to validate a URL with a regexp?

    - by Vilx-
In my web app I've got a form field where the user can enter an URL. I'm already doing some preliminary client-side validation and I was wondering if I could use a regexp to validate if the entered string is a valid URL. So, two questions: Is it safe to do this with a regexp? A URL is a complex beast, and just like you shouldn't use a regexp for parsing HTML, I'm worried that it might be unsuitable for a URL as well. If it can be done, what would be a good regexp for the task? (I know that Google turns up countless regexps, but I'm worried about their quality). My goal is to prevent a situation where the URL appears in the web page and is unusable by the browser.

  • Can Prototype or JQuery return an HTTP status code on an AJAX request

url = "http://example.com" new Ajax.Request(url, { onComplete: function(transport) { alert(transport.status); } }); I'd like that to return a status of 200 if the site is working, or 500 if it is not working, etc.. But that code is returning 0 all the time. Ultimately, I want to have a setinterval function that regularly pings a website for uptime status.

  • How do I capture keystrokes on the web?

    - by Sean
    Using PHP, JS, or HTML (or something similar) how would I capture keystokes? Such as if the user presses ctrl+f or maybe even just f, a certain function will happen. ++++++++++++++++++++++++EDIT+++++++++++++++++++ Ok, so is this correct, because I can't get it to work. And I apologize for my n00bness is this is an easy question, new to jQuery and still learning more and more about JS. <script> var element = document.getElementById('capture'); element.onkeypress = function(e) { var ev = e || event; if(ev.keyCode == 70) { alert("hello"); } } </script> <div id="capture"> Hello, Testing 123 </div> ++++++++++++++++EDIT++++++++++++++++++ Here is everything, but I can't get it to work: <link rel="icon" href="favicon.ico" type="image/x-icon"> <style> * { margin: 0px } div { height: 250px; width: 630px; overflow: hidden; vertical-align: top; position: relative; background-color: #999; } iframe { position: absolute; left: -50px; top: -130px; } </style> <script> document.getElementsByTagName('body')[0].onkeyup = function(e) { var ev = e || event; if(ev.keyCode == 70 && ev.ctrlKey) { //control+f alert("hello"); } } </script> <div id="capture"> Hello, Testing 123<!--<iframe src="http://www.pandora.com/" scrolling="no" width="1000" height="515"frameborder="0"></iframe>--> </div>

  • improve my jquery validation plugin code

    - by Jared
Hi All Just hoping soemone can help me to write better code than I can come up with on my own. I am using the jquery validation plugin. I have some fields that are mandatory ONLY if certain options are chosen. The below code works fine. But the thing is, is that that my list of 'OR's is much longer than I've put here. and it needs to be applied not just to 'directorsName' but a whole long list of inputs, selects etc. My question is.. how can I wrap up the code contained inside the RETURN? (so I dont have to keep repeating my 'OR's. I'm guessign I need a function but I'm unsure of the syntax) $("#myForm").validate({ rules: { directorsName : { required: function(element) { return ( $('#account_for').val() == "Joint" || $('#directors_number').val() == "2" || $('#directors_number').val() == "3" ); } } } }); Thanks in advance

  • is it possible that a greasemonkey script can work on one computer but not on another?

    - by plastic cloud
i'm writing an greasemonkey script for somebody else. he is a moderator and i am not. and the script will help him do some moderating things. now the script works for me. as far as it can work for me.(as i am not a mod) but even those things that work for me are not working for him.. i checked his version of greasemonkey plugin and firefox and he is up to date. only thing that's really different is that i'm on a mac and he is pc, but i wouldn't think that would be any problem. this is one of the functions that is not working for him. he does gets the first and third GM_log message. but not the second one ("got some(1) .."). kmmh.trackNames = function(){ GM_log("starting to get names from the first "+kmmh.topAmount+" page(s) from leaderboard."); kmmh.leaderboardlist = []; for (var p=1; p<=(kmmh.topAmount); p++){ var page = "http://www.somegamesite.com/leaderboard?page="+ p; var boardHTML = ""; dojo.xhrGet({ url: page, sync: true, load: function(response){ boardHTML = response; GM_log("got some (1) => "+boardHTML.length); }, handleAs: "text" }); GM_log("got some (2) => "+boardHTML.length); //create dummy div and place leaderboard html in there var dummy = dojo.create('div', { innerHTML: boardHTML }); //search through it var searchN = dojo.query('.notcurrent', dummy).forEach(function(node, index){ if(index >= 10){ kmmh.leaderboardlist.push(node.textContent); // add names to array } }); } GM_log("all names from "+ kmmh.topAmount +" page(s) of leaderboard ==> "+ kmmh.leaderboardlist); does anyone have any idea what could be causing this ?? EDIT: i know i had to write according to what he would see on his mod screen. so i asked him to copy paste source of pages and so on. and besides that, this part of the script is not depending on being a mod or not. i got everything else working for him. just this function still doesn't on neither of his pc's.

  • Changing background images like this

    - by Azzyh
If you guys check out this webpage: http://www2.scandvision.se/oresund10/ How have they done this background fade in fade out? When i check the source this <img id="wrapper-background" src="images/body-background-0.jpg" alt="Background" /> and i think theres some kind of script maybe php or js, or both, that every 5 sec changes the background: images/body-background-1.jpg images/body-background-2.jpg images/body-background-3.jpg and so on.. So how did they do this? an example would be great, as i want to learn how to do that. If i was going to do something like this i think i would only manage to do a script in php that randomize everytime you refresh. Thank you, this will expand my knowledge

  • Chrome Extension - Dynamic Right-Click Menu

    - by user1277607
    I am trying to create an option in the right-click menu that is dynamic based on the user's action. If the user selects some text, then right-clicks, the option will say "Display It". If the user right-clicks without selecting some text, the option will say "Select Some Text First" and be grayed out. I am wondering how do I achieve this? I currently have it so that the option will appear only when the user has selected some text. I am unsure how to modify it to meet my second requirements. chrome.contextMenus.create ({ title:"Display It!", contexts:["selection"], onclick:function(info,tab) { chrome.tabs.sendRequest( tab.id, {callFunction: "displaySidebar", info: info}, function(response) {console.log(response);} ); } });
