  • Getting back to Dreamweaver CS4?

    My problem is that I want to assign a keyboardshortcut for Dreamweaver CS4 and I have it like this: "C:\Program Files\Adobe\Adobe Dreamweaver CS4\Dreamweaver.exe" Thats ok so far. But when I press the key it doesn't place itself infront of everything else like Outlook and Visual Studio does for example, instead it blinks in the taskbar, and I have to click there anyway to get back to Dreamweaver. Is there any switch or something I can assign for Dreamweaver to get back AND have it "popup?"

  • Windows Vista/7: Managing multiple audio playback devices

    I've got speakers (audio in) and headphones (USB headset with it's own soundcard) connected to my desktop computer. Under Windows 7, I can right-click the Audio Mixer and select Playback Devices and toggle between my these devices. Is there an easier way, perhaps a keyboard shortcut, that would make it easier to toggle? I'm working in an shared space were sometimes I want headphones to avoid annoying other people, but at other times speakers are OK. I want to be able to toggle quickly. In an ideal world, the solution to my question would work in Vista too.

  • How do I remove the Conduit toolbar that comes with µTorrent?

    I have recently installed µTorrent in my computer and unfortunately the Conduit adware came bundled with it. Basically, it installs a toolbar on all browsers and replaces the default search and initial homepage to that of Conduit. I have tried to run AdAware and MalwareBytes but both were unable to remove it. Search results on Google tell me to remove the Conduit software in the Control Panel → Remove Programs, but it's not listed there. Other suggestions involved going into the extensions configuration in Chrome, but it's not listed there as well. Anybody had the same problem?

  • gparted installed on OpenSuse shows all file system types as greyed out except for hfs

    I have had this problem before and fixed it, but I don't recall how I did it and I did not record it (sadness :( ) I have all the requisite commands installed on OpenSuse to support gparted's efforts in creating any of the supported file systems. I recall that the problem was that gparted could not find the commands, in any event all the file systems are greyed out in the context menu except for the legacy hfs partition which only supports < 2gb. Even extfs2-extfs4 are greyed out. How do I fix this?

    I've been researching eCommerce payment gateways and service offerings, but I'm an eCommerce novice, so please excuse my ignorance. I wish to set up an eCommerce solution with the following requirements: User "subscribes" to the service on a yearly basis. This service includes a single product subscription for a set amount (let's say $50/yr). User can "subscribe" to additional product services for a lesser rate per year (let's say $25/yr). I will need to store a product service unique Id of some sort for each product subscription the user subscribes to in order to show them product unique information. I also need to prevent duplicates...for example, user can subscribe to product ABC and XYZ, but not 2 of ABC. Is PayPal the best solution for something like this? Is there a better solution? Any assistance is greatly appreciated, even if just links to specific tutorials or examples. Update: It looks like Chargify could be the perfect solution.

  • Is there a good XP like windows explorer for windows Vista?

    I'm still refusing to go to Windows Vista and now Windows 7 mainly due to the windows explorer, I find it cumbersome and hard to use exclusively with a keyboard. I use XP file explorer in the most basic view, the address bar at the top and files always in list view underneath. The reason I do this is because I'm almost blind and do everything from the keyboard and don't touch the mouse whilst navigating through files, this is because I can type "L[ENTER]D[Enter]B[Enter]" and know that I'm in "c:\documents and settings\Brett Ryan", and I can hit [Tab] once to go to the address bar to type in a folder. Can anyone suggest a replacement for windows explorer that brings back this basic navigational behavior?

  • Full screen flash lags on Windows 7

    I have been experiencing an issue since I've up upgraded to Windows 7 where all flash videos have horrible frame rates when run in full screen mode. I have tried multiple browsers and i have the latest version of flash and video drivers. I have tried re-installing flash and disabling hardware acceleration. The problem occurs on youtube and hulu. This is a clean install on a Core 2 duo with 4GB RAM and an Nvidia 8400M GS.

    Telligent Community combines blogs, wikis, forums, and file-sharing capabilities into a single product with single sign-on, using all Microsoft technologies. Is there an equivalent offering that runs on Unix/Linux? Or would I have to pick and choose individual product offerings and figure out another option for single sign-on across them? Are there plug-ins for something like WordPress or MovableType that might add the necessary functionality? A friend of mine is looking to add a "members-only" area to her company's website, and since they're hosted on Dreamhost (and can't afford StackExchange pricing yet), I'm trying to find other options for them.

  • rr.com appended to URL and I don't know why

    I've been having some pretty bad and intermittent internet connectivity issues. I keep getting timeouts on my browsers, or what appears to be timeouts on my browsers. In Chrome it's generally error 21. FF it times out. And so on. While this is happening, I can go into the command line and ping or traceroute the same domain and it works fine. I use my cellphone on the same network and it's fine connecting to the same domain. And when it fails, it's all domains that are down in all browsers, chrome, FF, etc. I also noticed that when I try to connect to 192.168.1.1 it says in chrome did you mean www.192.168.1.1rr.com but when I enter https://192.168.1.1 it's fine. It only seems to do this in Chrome. This is making me think I have a virus. I did some researching about something called road runner, but I can't find any related traces. I also ran a full virus scan using nod32 (eset) and nothing. Any suggestion or help would be greatly appreciated. The intermittent loss of total internet access is really annoying and I'm worried about why it's trying to append the rr.com domain in Chrome. I suspect I'm dealing with two different issues, but you never know. Also for the DNS I'm using Google's DNS servers, the famous 8.8.8.8 and 8.8.8.4

  • PC hangs and reboots from time to time

    Hello, I have a very strange problem: Since I have my new PC, I have always had problems with it. From time to time the computer freezes for some seconds and suddendly reboots by itself. I've had this problem since Ubuntu 9.10. The same with 10.04 and 10.10. That's why I don't think it's a software failure because the problem persist too long. It doesn't have anything to do with what I'm doing at this time. Sometimes I listen to music, sometimes I only use Firefox, sometimes I'm running 2 or 3 VMs, sometimes I watch DVD. So it's not isolatable. I could freeze once a day or once a week. I put the PC to the vendor twice(!). The first time they changed my power supply but the problem persisted. The second time they told me that they made some heavy performance tests 50 hours long but they didn't find anything. (How can that be that I have daily freezes with normal usage). The vendor didn't check the hard discs because they used their own disc with Windows. (So they never checked the Linux installation). Yesterday I made some intensive hard disc scans with "SMART" but no errors were found. I ran memtest for 3 times but no errors found. I already had this problem in my old flat, so I doubt that I has something to do with current fluctuation. I already tried another electrical socket and changed to connector strip but the problem persists. At the moment I removed 2 of the RAMs (2x 2GB). In all I have 6GB, 2x2GB and 2x1GB. Could this difference maybe be a problem? Here is a list of my components. I hope that anybody find something I didn't think about yet.     Hi, I am running Ubuntu 9.10 and I want to install turnkey linux's LAMP server on my machine to test out my code. I installed Turnkey LAMP via VirtualBox and it seems to be working because I can access the http://localhost. My question is: How do I manipulate files via VirtualBox? For example, if I had installed LAMP on my machine (not on a virtual machine), I could easily add/edit/delete files in the var/WWW folder. Where is the equivalent of "WWW" folder on Virtualbox and how can I interface with it? Thanks,

  • Migrating Windows XP BOOT.INI Settings to Windows 7 Boot-loader

    Two months ago my motherboard died, so I bought a used computer that came with Windows 7. I have since installed my old hard-drive, which had Windows XP on it, in this system. What I am trying to do now is to figure out a way to migrate the settings from XP's BOOT.INI into 7's boot-loader. Below is the BOOT.INI I used in XP (I have reduced the strings and updated the disks to point to the new location of the old HD. Oh and I am not clear on the drive letters. In XP, I could boot the recovery console or MS-DOS from a file in C:\ that contains the boot-sector. I am not sure what drive letter it would be called now—I had to manually change all the drive letters of the old partitions in Windows 7 because it auto-assigned them all wrong/differently). (Yes, I tried EasyBCD, but that did not help; it had no options for XP, and the best I managed was to get a choice of booting 7 or normal-mode XP—choosing XP didn't even give the old XP boot menu.)   • Java file manager won't load in Firefox

    I am using Webmin and I can't get the file manager to load in Firefox. It is a simple, Java based file manager. When I try to load it I get the following error: This module requires java to function, but your browser does not support java Internet Explorer works fine and I have yet to try on Chrome. Java is installed and I have the same problem on Windows and Linux. Java seems to work fine with everything else, with the exception of webcams. Any advice on the issue would be appreciated. Edit: I just checked and it doesn't work in Chrome either.

Which CPU should I get among i5, i7, Xeon and Phenom in terms of performance. There are so many options and I am out of touch with the latest stuff. All I know I want something fast and works with DDR3 fast memory and works with some kind of fast system bus. I don't care about overclocking, 3D & gfx benchmarks. The machine is not used for games and gfx apps. Any recommendations?

  • Have powershell zip the contents of a bunch of folders, individual zip for each folder

    Recently, I asked how to do this with a .bat file and an answer was provided. for /D %%d in (*.*) do "C:\Program Files\7-Zip\7z\7za.exe" a -tzip %%d.zip %%d However, this proved useful only for folders that have no spaces in their name. The reason being that batch will do the following: if the folder name is "jef's vacation pics", the variables will be: %%d = jef's %%e = vacation %%f = pics And then it tries to pass only %%d to the 7-zip program, which will not find such a folder and therefor will not create a zip file. I've tried looking up some tutorials, documentation sites and such, but I haven't been able to come up with an answer. There may be an answer, but I want to take this opportunity to try my hand at powershell. I was thinking that a function with 1 argument, that being the parent-folder of the sub-folders that need to be zipped, would be the best approach.   • Power supply triggered to start by another power supply

    I am building a raid array in a separate enclosure. I will be putting an empty tower case next to an existing tower computer, and this second tower case will only hold hard drives. There are many solutions for connecting the drives in the second case to the raid card in the first case (SFF-8088 and SFF-8087 cables). But I prefer not to run power from the first case to the second case. Can I use a power supply in the first tower case and cause it to start the power supply in the second case based on an indication from power in the first tower case's power supply? Maybe run a 12 volt cable from the first case to the power supply on the second case only for the purpose of initiating the second power supply.

  • Windows 7 detects my 1 TB disk as a disk with only 31 MB space

    I've added another 1 TB Western Digital disk on my computer (there is a disk with 250 GB already), and after booting to Windows 7, it recognise the disk, but in the Disk Management panel, it says the disk has only 31 MB TOTAL space, so is what it shows in the EVEREST information. And when I rebooted the computer and entered BIOS, it said the new disk has 0 MB disk capacity. Is there any way to fix this problem?
