• Delphi form icons are blurry on Windows 7's taskbar (with MainFormOnTaskbar enabled)

  We have a Windows desktop application written in Delphi that works fine on Windows 7, except that the icon of the main form looks blurry in Windows' new taskbar. As long as the application has not been started the icon looks fine (i.e. when it's pinned to the taskbar). Once it has been started Windows uses the icon of the main form (instead of the .exe resource icon) and it's blurry (it looks like a 16x16 version of the icon is scaled up). The icon that we use for the .exe and for the main form are exactly the same and it contains all kinds of resolutions, including 48x48 with alpha blending. My theory is that Delphi ignores/deletes the extra resolutions of the icon when I import the .ico file for the main form in Delphi. Is there a way to prevent/fix this? What's the best way to ensure that an application written in Delphi uses the correct icon resolution in Windows 7's taskbar?

I am able to upload files with out log in to application at the time of user registration. But once log in to application, if I upload files, it is giving "Access denied" error. Please help me.

However, I can start more than 7 terminal apps from my Ubuntu system (Application - Accessories - Terminal).   Hello, I'm currently building a web application. In one of it's key processes the application need to match short phrases to other similar ones available in the DB. The application needs to be able to match the phrase: Looking for a second hand car in good shape To other phrases which basically have the same meaning but use different wording, such as: 2nd hand car in great condition needed or searching for a used car in optimal quality The phrases are length limited (say 250 chars), user generated & unstructured. • camera preview on androd - strange lines on 1.5 version of sdk

  Hi all, I am developing the camera module for an android application. In main application when user clicks on 'take picture' button, new view with SurfaceView control is opened and camera preview is shown. When users click on dpad center, camera takes picture and save it to the disc. Pretty simple and straightforward. Everything works fine on my device - HTC Tattoo, minsdkversion 1.6 ...but when I tested application on HTC Hero minsdkversion 1.5, when camera preview is shown,some strange lines occur. Anyone has idea what is going on? p.s. altough preview is crashed, taking of pictures works fine here is the picture: Thanx Marko

• Spring - MVC - Sanitize URL before redisplaying to the user

  In my application , a HTTP GET request URL to the application with script tag is getting redisplayed as it is although it fails the authorization. Example: http://www.example.com/welcome<script>alert("hi")</script> The issue is sanitizing external input entered directly into address bar by modifying existing GET URL. Spring redisplays the submitted URL as it is. Though the script does not get executed in the browser(FF), is there anyway to strip the URL of these values before displaying it back to the user Reference: Spring MVC application filtering HTML in URL - Is this a security issue?

  I use log4j as logger for my web application. in log4j, I can set the level log in log4j properties or log4j.xml. in log4j, we instance logger as follows: static Logger logger = Logger.getLogger(SomeClass.class); I init log4j basic configurator in a servlet file using init method. But, I usually test application using JUnit, So I init the basic configurator in setup method. after that, I test the application, and I can see the log. Because I deployed, the web in websphere. I change all of logging instance become: private Log log = LogFactory.getLog(Foo.class); I don't know how to load basic configurator using ACL. so I can't control debug level to my JUnit test. do you have any suggestion, without changing static Logger logger = Logger.getLogger(SomeClass.class); become static Logger logger = Logger.getLogger(SomeClass.class);

• Tomcat fails on first request in combination with jsvc

  I have a web application where the first request may take a few seconds as some singletons are initialised. I've used the mod_proxy and jsvc construction mentioned in this question and described on this page to connect apache with tomcat (data is served via SSL) For the sample Tomcat application, everything works as it should. People will be able to design flowcharts similar to how they do in Visio and they will be able to collaborate and work simultaneously on the the design.   Hi. I have a HP notebook (running XP). I have seen on IBM computers, that they have a power-meter (it looks like a bar). It displays percentage of power left in battery. It is displayed in the taskbar. Not in the systemtray. Either on the left side or the right side of the potential language toolbar. The application is animated, since the percentage of power (0-100%) chances. It fills up the bar with a green color according to the percentage. So half would be colored green if the power is down to 50%. Now, since it is an IBM application for IBM notebooks, I want/need to make a copy of it. My real question is though, how do I make an animated taskbar application?

Instead of going for clusters, I am planning to propose to use Windows Azure Cloud for this application. I have gone through white papers of Windows Azure and have collected some details about Azure. But I feel that is not substantial. I need to do some case study about applications that are running on the azure and that uses azure storage efficiently. I looked for several research paper in related to performance of the applications in Windows Azure. But as Azure was quite new, I wasn't able to find any. Now, I am looking for some white papers/details regarding application that uses azure storage to substantiate my proposal. • Securing against dynamic linking in .NET

  I want to deploy an application with a license attached. However, I want to prevent that my dll can be easily referenced in visual studio. What are the usual ways of doing this? I was thinking about ngen-ing the application to prevent this, however, then the code becomes architecture dependent. Im not targetting any other architecture/platform besides windows, however, ngen-ing the application after making a release build seems like a workaround to me. Are there any other techniques to achieve this?

It works fine on the emulator, but it gives me the following error when I try to install it on my HTC Hero (v1.5): Sorry!   I'm pulling up the Global Address List from Outlook like so... Microsoft.Office.Interop.Outlook.Application oApp = new Microsoft.Office.Interop.Outlook.Application(); AddressList gal = oApp.Session.GetGlobalAddressList(); ...with the aim of eventually being able to search through this in my own application to retrieve contact information which I can then supply to a method that squirrels off an email. Unfortunately given that my own GAL has about 20K entries in (the customers much more) using a foreach or something simply doesn't work in an acceptable timeframe. I want to pass a string like "Tom" to a method and have it return a list of possible contacts. Is this possible outside of actually opening up Outlook and creating the mail there? Note: There are a couple of other questions similar to this but most seem to have no good answer. I'm hoping I have more luck.

• windows server 2008 r2 remote desktop issue with roaming clients

  I have the following situation : a Dell windows server 2008 R2 computer, with remote desktop services installed. I have installed a java application making use of a PostgreSql database, and made this application available for clients using RDP. Clients are standard Win XP pc's and Psion Neo handheld devices running Windows CE 5 Pro. The application works fine for clients on standard XP pc's connected directly via cat 5E Ethernet cable to a Dell Powerconnect 2816 switch. The Psion Neo clients connect wireless to the network via Motorola AP6532 access points. These access points are connected via a POE adapter to the same switch as the XP pc's. The Psion devices can connect without any problem and very quickly to the server and to the application using RDP. So far, so good. When the Psion devices move around in the warehouse, and they roam from one access point to the other, the RDP session on the client freezes for approx 1 minute, and then it automatically resumes the session. This freezing is very annoying for the users. Can anyone help in solving this issue? Update (August 9) : After re-installing the access points we have a working situation, but only when connecting to the RDP host : * via a Win Xp SP3 laptop * via a Symbol MC9190 Win CE 6 mobile device When roaming we notice a small hick-up less then 1 second, what is very acceptable. With the Psion NEO it's still not working, when roaming the screen freezes from 2 to 30 seconds. The RDP client on the win xp sp3 laptop and the symbol mc9190 is version 6.0. The RDP client on the neo is version 5.2. I have changed the security layer on the RDP host to RDP security layer (based on forums on the internet), because older RDP clients seem to have issues with the RDP 7.1 protocol on the Win server 2088 R2. Psion adviced us to do some network logging activity on the different devices. We made this logging via wireshark, and based on this the conclusion of Psion is that the server fails in handling tcp-requests. Can anyone give me a second opinion by analysing the wireshark loggings. Thanks in advance. Regards Patrick

  I use Visual Studio .NET to create a Windows-based application. The application includes a form named CForm. CForm contains 15 controls that enable users to set basic configuration options for the application. I design these controls to dynamically adjust when users resize CForm. The controls automatically update their size and position on the form as the form is resized. The initial size of the form should be 650 x 700 pixels. If CForm is resized to be smaller then 500 x 600 pixels, the controls will not be displayed correctly. How I must ensure that users cannot resize CForm to be smaller than 500 x 600 pixels..?

• Webservice creates Stack Overflow

  I have an application that when executed as a windows application works fine, but when converted to a webservice, in some instances (which were tested successfully) by the windows app) creates a stack overflow. Do you have an idea of what can cause this? (Note that it works fine when the web service is placed on the localhost). Could it be that the stack size of a Web Service is smaller than that of a Window Application? • How to pass data to another droid device when the other device isn't expecting it

  I am working on an application and one feature that would make it really useful is the ability to share some information, but the other device may not be expecting the data to be sent. For example, if I am reading a really good book, and I realize that a friend may like it, I could use an application to send the data to him, so he could order the book from Amazon. But, since he isn't expecting the data, I would hate for the application to be polling a server every so often, as that will be needlessly draining the battery. Ideally it would be great if there was a way to make a phone call to the target device, send a data packet and end the call. If it could be done and prevent the phone from ringing, then it would be very useful to me. I am curious if there is some way to send data between devices without polling.

  I'm working with ASP.NET MVC3, and I'm trying to get absolute control over my headers because a client application that I'm working with expects a very specific content type. What I'm finding when using Fiddler to examine the HTTP traffic is that the text encoding is being returned as part of the header. For example, the client is expecting application/appname in the Content-Type header, but the server is returning application/appname; charset=utf-8. I think the client is using a strict comparison for checking the type, so I want to be able to specify exactly what is emitted in the headers. Right now I have a custom ActionResult in which I clear the headers and then specify only the content type, but the encoding still seems to be added on. How can I remove the encoding from the Content-Type header?

Now, I wonder if it would be possible for a Ruby application to update itself on-the-fly (if the write permission allows it). Can a Ruby application fetch an update and refresh itself? • Design Patterns: What's the antithesis of Front Controller?

  I'm familiar with the Front Controller pattern, in which all events/requests are processed through a single centralized controller. But what would you call it when you wish to keep the various parts of an application separate at the presentation layer as well? My first thought was "Facade" but it turns out that's something entirely different. In my particular case, I'm converting an application from a sprawling procedural mess to a clean MVC architecture, but it's a long-term process -- we need to keep things separated as much as possible to facilitate a slow integration with the rest of the system. Our application is web-based, built in PHP, so for instance, we have an "index.php" and an IndexController, a "account.php" and an AccountController, a "dashboard.php" and DashboardController, and so on.

• MFC resource.h command/message IDs

  Hi I'm working on an MFC application, that got pretty messy over years and over different teams of developers. The resource.h file, which contains all command/message mappings grew pretty big over time, and has lots of problems (like duplicate IDs). I am not proficient with MFC, so the question might sound pretty stupid... MSDN docs mention that Command IDs and Message IDs should not be less than WM_USER and WM_APP correspondingly. I saw that most of the command IDs in resource.h generated by Visual Studio begin around 100. Shouldn't this cause some interfering with MFC/Windows commands and messages, that overlap with the application defined IDs? For example, I have a command ID : #define ID_MY_ID 101 and there is a windows command that has the same ID. When MC send this command to the APP, it's handled like an application defined ID_MY_ID, and the app is taking unnecessary actions. Is it a possible scenario? Also, is there some third party tool that helps to profile the project resources?
