  • Is it possible to tell if there are any ongoing 'GET' requests with javascript?

    - by Lavabeams
    Is it possible to tell if there are any ongoing 'GET' requests with javascript? I have a feeling that it is not. Basically I don't want to make a seperate request while the other "more important" requests are going as this one is fairly heavy. So I was curious if it is possible to tell if there are currently 'get' requests going and if so I can tell my function to hold off for this update and do it again in 10-15secs. Any information etc would be appreciated.

  • Most effecient way to create a "slider" timeline in HTML, CSS, and JavaScript?

    - by ZapChance
    Alright, so here's my dilemma. I've got these two "slides" lined up, one ready to be passed into view. I have it working and all, but I can scroll over to the right to see the second slide! How could I have it you can only view the one slide? JavaScript used: function validate(form) { var user = form.username.value; var pass = form.password.value; if(user === "test") { if(pass === "pass") { var hideoptions = {"direction" : "left", "mode" : "hide"}; var showoptions = {"direction" : "left", "mode" : "show"}; /*$("#loginView").toggle("slide", hideoptions, 1000, function() { $("#loginView").css("margin-left", "100%"); }); $("#mainView").toggle("slide", showoptions, 1000, function() { $("#mainView").css("margin-left", 0); });*/ $("#loginView").animate({ marginLeft: "-100%" }, 1000); $("#mainView").animate({ marginLeft: "0" }, 1000); } else { alert("nope"); } } else { alert("nope 2"); } } As you can see here @ http://jsfiddle.net/D7Va3/1/ (JSFiddle), once you enter "test" and "pass", then click enter, the tiles slide. But. If you reload, you can see that you can scroll to the right of the screen and view the second slide prematurely, which is just not going to work for me. I still need to achieve the same seamless transition, but you must only be able to view one slide at a time. Also, I plan to expand with more slides, so if you're feeling lucky today, I'd really love to see an example of how I could support multiple frames. I'm very new to JavaScript (yet I know syntax rules, and general coding knowledge from other languages), so the better you explain, the more knowledgeable I can be, and I'd be very grateful for that. Thanks in advance!

  • 2 ajax forms on the same page posting same textbox

    - by rod
    Hi All, Is it possible to post, say like a value in a textbox, to 2 different ajax forms that are on the same page? It doesn't have to be at the same time? What I'm trying to do is this: I have a search page that searches for customers and displays them on a paged grid. Users can specify up to 5 parameters (5 textboxes) to narrow the search. On the same page I have an export option. Well since I want all the customers for the search and not just the paged data I need a way to post back to the server for this option passing the same parameters used in the grid. I'm using a ViewModel which would be nice if I can pass that back to the server rather than the individual search fields that are backed by the view model. Thanks, rodchar

  • on page load clone first image from collection of photos

    - by user313378
    On my page I'm getting collection of photos, and I store them as thumbs below showImage div which needs to be refreshed with cloned image onclick. Basically everything is ok except I need to populate this showImage div onpage load with first image, and then to use this onclick clone which already works. <a href="/Property/GetImage/someIntId"> <img id="someIntId" class="details" width="100" height="100" src="/Property/GetImage/7" alt=""> </a> function onPopUp() { $(".details").click(function (event) { //clone the clicked image var clone = $(this).clone(); clone.height("250px").width("280px"); //place it in the placeholder $('div#showImage').html(clone); }); }

  • Get backreferences values and modificate these values

    - by roasted
    Could you please explain why im not able to get values of backreferences from a matched regex result and apply it some modification before effective replacement? The expected result is replacing for example string ".coord('X','Y')" by "X * Y". But if X to some value, divide this value by 2 and then use this new value in replacement. Here the code im currently testing: See /*>>1<<*/ & /*>>2<<*/ & /*>>3<<*/, this is where im stuck! I would like to be able to apply modification on backrefrences before replacement depending of backreferences values. Difference between /*>>2<<*/ & /*>>3<<*/ is just the self call anonymous function param The method /*>>2<<*/ is the expected working solution as i can understand it. But strangely, the replacement is not working correctly, replacing by alias $1 * $2 and not by value...? You can test the jsfiddle //string to test ".coord('125','255')" //array of regex pattern and replacement //just one for the example //for this example, pattern matching alphanumerics is not necessary (only decimal in coord) but keep it as it var regexes = [ //FORMAT is array of [PATTERN,REPLACEMENT] /*.coord("X","Y")*/ [/\.coord\(['"]([\w]+)['"],['"]?([\w:\.\\]+)['"]?\)/g, '$1 * $2'] ]; function testReg(inputText, $output) { //using regex for (var i = 0; i < regexes.length; i++) { /*==>**1**/ //this one works as usual but dont let me get backreferences values $output.val(inputText.replace(regexes[i][0], regexes[i][2])); /*==>**2**/ //this one should works as i understand it $output.val(inputText.replace(regexes[i][0], function(match, $1, $2, $3, $4) { $1 = checkReplace(match, $1, $2, $3, $4); //here want using $1 modified value in replacement return regexes[i][3]; })); /*==>**3**/ //this one is just a test by self call anonymous function $output.val(inputText.replace(regexes[i][0], function(match, $1, $2, $3, $4) { $1 = checkReplace(match, $1, $2, $3, $4); //here want using $1 modified value in replacement return regexes[i][4]; }())); inputText = $output.val(); } } function checkReplace(match, $1, $2, $3, $4) { console.log(match + ':::' + $1 + ':::' + $2 + ':::' + $3 + ':::' + $4); //HERE i should be able if lets say $1 > 200 divide it by 2 //then returning $1 value if($1 > 200) $1 = parseInt($1 / 2); return $1; }? Sure I'm missing something, but cannot get it! Thanks for your help, regards. EDIT WORKING METHOD: Finally get it, as mentionned by Eric: The key thing is that the function returns the literal text to substitute, not a string which is parsed for backreferences.?? JSFIDDLE So complete working code: (please note as pattern replacement will change for each matched pattern and optimisation of speed code is not an issue here, i will keep it like that) $('#btn').click(function() { testReg($('#input').val(), $('#output')); }); //array of regex pattern and replacement //just one for the example var regexes = [ //FORMAT is array of [PATTERN,REPLACEMENT] /*.coord("X","Y")*/ [/\.coord\(['"]([\w]+)['"],['"]?([\w:\.\\]+)['"]?\)/g, '$1 * $2'] ]; function testReg(inputText, $output) { //using regex for (var i = 0; i < regexes.length; i++) { $output.val(inputText.replace(regexes[i][0], function(match, $1, $2, $3, $4) { var checkedValues = checkReplace(match, $1, $2, $3, $4); $1 = checkedValues[0]; $2 = checkedValues[1]; regexes[i][1] = regexes[i][1].replace('$1', $1).replace('$2', $2); return regexes[i][1]; })); inputText = $output.val(); } } function checkReplace(match, $1, $2, $3, $4) { console.log(match + ':::' + $1 + ':::' + $2 + ':::' + $3 + ':::' + $4); if ($1 > 200) $1 = parseInt($1 / 2); if ($2 > 200) $2 = parseInt($2 / 2); return [$1,$2]; }

I.e. if user clicks on Text1, then I should open http://example.com/some-id-1 in new window and set focus at input with id some-id-1.

  • Storing information in the DOM?

    - by John
    Im making a small private message application in the form of a phone. Ten messages are shown at the time. And the list of messages are scrolled up/down by hiding them. Just how bad is it to use the DOM to store information in this way. My main goal for doing this is to reduce calls to the database. And instead of making a new call all the time, it only checks if any new messages has arrived and ads the new message(s). Whats the alternative, cookies anyone? Thank you for the time

  • How to take value from radio selection and pass that value into a hidden inputs value attribute?

    - by Matthew
    Hello guys, I need to know if this can be done and if so can someone push me in the right direction. Okay I have a series of radio buttons: <input type="radio" name="level_id" id="radio1" value="XXXX" class="radio1" /> <label for="radio1">choice 1</label> <input type="radio" name="level_id" id="radio2" value="XXXX" class="radio2" /> <label for="radio2">choice 2</label> <input type="radio" name="level_id" id="radio3" value="XXXX" class="radio3" /> <label for="radio3">choice 3</label> <label for="radio4">second choice1</label> <input type="radio" name="level_id" id="radio4" value="1" class="radio4" /> <label for="radio5">second choice2</label> <input type="radio" name="level_id" id="radio5" value="2" class="radio5" /> <label for="radio6">second choice3</label> <input type="radio" name="level_id" id="radio6" value="3" class="radio6" /> Now what I am looking to do is if someone selects CHOICE 1 and then selects SECOND CHOICE1 I would like to pass the value of SECOND CHOICE1 into the value of a hidden input. <input type="hidden" name="sub_source" id="sub_source" value="" /> So that when the form is ready to submit the value that gets passed would be: <input type="hidden" name="sub_source" id="sub_source" value="1" />

  • Supersized, show a div depending on the slide

    - by Dlacrem
    EDIT: So, I want to take a different approach to try and clarify what I'm looking for, I've been reading as much as I could these last hours and I feel I have a better grasp of how the system works, but I still don't know how to accomplish my goal. Reference links: -SUPERSIZED API So, I have the following script: <script type="text/javascript"> $(document.body).ready(function () { if (vars.current_slide == 5){**-I want it to display a div if the slider is the number 5-** } }); </script> My questions are these: 1) What do I add in the - - area to display a div that only shows up when the slider is at the 5th slide? 2) Am I doing the rest right or am I missing something? I created that code so it could be terribly wrong lol, hopefuly I got something right :P That's all, hope this clarifies it. Thank you all for the help! I'm really excited to start creating my own scripts :D Alright, so I've uploaded the site with the code you posted and it still doesn't seem to work, I also tried reducing the code to the conditional and the result only but that didn't work either, mind checking it out? Click Here Thanks for giving it a thought!

  • Changing the value of a variable

    - by neirpycc
    I'm trying to build a simple scoring app but I'm running into a problem trying to keep it so I don't have to repeat a bunch of code to deal with each 'base' individually. The basic idea is that when I click a button the script will; 1) grab the ID of said button 2) split the ID into two parts - (a) the bases name and (b) the button type (plus/minus) 3) if it's plus - add to the bases score, if it's minus - subtract from the bases score 4) update the assigned div with the new value The part I'm stuck at is adding and subtracting. I can't seem to get this to work. Here is the code: $('.base button').click(function() { var b1Score = 0; var b2Score = 0; var b3Score = 0; var b4Score = 0; var b5Score = 0; var clickedButton = $(this).attr('id'); var buttonInfo = clickedButton.split('-'); var baseClicked = buttonInfo[0]; var baseDirection = buttonInfo[1]; var baseDiv = ('#' + baseClicked); console.log('You clicked ' + clickedButton + '.'); if (baseDirection.indexOf('plus') >= 0) { console.log('Increasing ' + baseClicked + '!'); ++; $(baseDiv).val(); } else { console.log('Decreasing ' + baseClicked + '!'); --; $(baseDiv).val(); } }); ++; and --; are placeholders for where the adding and subtracting needs to happen. I just can't figure out how to get it to add or subtract from the correct value. Any help is appreciated. Thanks.

  • Javascript if/else statement in iframe

    So I'm trying to use javascript to pop up a video, and need to know when I'm in an iframe so I can resize the video accordingly. When outside the iframe, I see three alerts ('this is seen by both', 'not in iframe', and 'this is after the fact') When in the iframe, I just see the first alert ('this is seen by both'). var handleViewVideoClick = function (dataAction, eventType, targetElement, dataActionElement) { alert('this is seen by both'); if ($('iframe', window.parent.document).length == 0) { alert('not in iframe'); } else { alert('in iframe'); } alert('this is after the fact...'); }; What's going on here?

  • How to check of which user-defined type a current JSON element is during $.each()?

    - by Bob
    I have the following structure for a JSON file: ({condos:[{Address:'123 Fake St.', Lat:'56.645654', Lng:'23.534546'},{... another condo ...},{...}],houses:[{Address:'1 Main Ave.', Lat:'34.765766', Lng:'27.8786674'},{... another house ...}, {...}]}) So, I have a list of condos and houses in one big JSON array. I want to plot them all on my map, but I want to give condos and houses different marker icons( blue marker for condos, green marker for houses ). Problem I have is - figuring out how to distinguish between types of markers when I $.each() through them. How would I use if to check whether I'm working with a condo or a house at the moment? var markers = null; $('#map').gmap(mapOptions).bind('init', function(){ $.post('getMarkers.php', function(json){ markers = json; $.each(markers, function(type, dataMembers) { $.each(dataMembers, function(i, j){ //if house use house.png to create marker $('#map').gmap('addMarker', { 'position': new google.maps.LatLng(parseFloat(Lat), parseFloat(Lng)), 'bounds':true, 'icon':'house.png' } ); //if condo use condo.png $('#map').gmap('addMarker', { 'position': new google.maps.LatLng(parseFloat(Lat), parseFloat(Lng)), 'bounds':true, 'icon':'condo.png' } ); }); }); }); });

  • Submit multiple forms as one

    - by Stephen Sarcsam Kamenar
    I have two forms on the page. To the user it looks like 1 form, and I actually wish it was one form. But the way I'm trying to reuse code and include things, I can't avoid two forms in the source code... trying to act as one. I don't want to do ajax submit, I want a normal post submit, my form handler has redirects in it. How can I submit both of these, and get values that make sense on the server side. something like $_POST['form1]['whatever'] $_POST['form2]['thing'] Maybe take all the inputs from form 2, rename all of them with a prefix, and append them to form 1? I can't find a non-messy way of doing this. I don't think I need code, just a plan. Least messy idea wins.

  • Why isn't this button firing the anchor tag?

    - by Noor
    My idea is to press a button that takes me to a web page. I've created a thing that dynamically creates a button and an anchor tag. When the button is clicked, I want it to "click"/fire up the anchor tag.. I've uploaded a demo to my site, when you try it out just leave everything as it is. Click the first button then the add button right away.. then try to click the dynamically created button. Nothing happens, but if you watch the source you can find an anchor tag with the ID FL1000, I've set it up so that the anchor tag gets the ID from the value of the created button + 1000 just incase I need to use that ID.. Thanks guys... edit: this is optimized for google chrome, haven't tried it out with other browser.
