  Summary: I have different components on homepage and each components shows some promotion to the user. I have Cart as one Component and depending upon content of the cart promotion are show. I have to track user online activities and send that information to Omniture for Report Generation. Now my components are loaded asynchronously basically are loaded when AjaxRequest is fired up and so there is not fix pattern or rather information on when components will appear on the webpages. Now in order to pass information to Omniture I need to call track function on $(document).(ready) and append information for each components(7 parameters are required by Omniture for each component). So in the init:config function of each component am calling Omniture and passing paramters but now no. of Omniture calls is directly proportional to no. of Components on the webpage but this is not acceptable as each call to Omniture is very expensive. Now I am looking for a way where in I can club the information about 7 parameters and than make one Call to Omniture wherein I pass those information. Points to note is that I do not know when the components are loaded and so there is no pre-defined time or no. of components that would be loaded. The thing is am calling track function when document is ready but components are loaded after call to Omniture has been made and so my question is Q: How can I collect the information for all the components and than just make one call to Omniture to send those information ? As mentioned, I do not know when the components are loaded as they are done on the Ajax Request. Hope I am able to explain my challenge and would appreciate if some one can provide from Design/Architect Solutions for the Challenge.

• spring security login pages?

  I have some confusion with how spring security works: In my application, I need to have a login page for users after which they are redirected back the page from where they came. I went through a few spring security tutorials and read some articles, and the examples work by securing a certain page on a site (managed by the <intercept url ..> tag). Then Spring security will generate a login page (or you can specify your own) in order to access the secured page. I am confused because I don't want to necessary secure a given page on my site: I want a login page for users to log into after which they have access to elevated features of the site (through spring security's authorization features). My question is: given what I described, what would be the strategy to create this login page which, after login, would grant the logged in user the appropriate authorities? The hack I thought of would be to create a simple JSP page who's only function is to redirect back to the previous page. Then I would use Spring Security to secure that JSP page. But it seems like there should be a better way of doing this... Thanks

• Named pipe blocking with user nobody

  I have 2 short scripts. The first, an awk script, processes a large file and prints to a named pipe 'myfifo.dat'. The second, a Perl script, runs a LOAD DATA LOCAL INFILE 'myfifo.dat'... command. Both of these scripts work when run locally like so: lee.awk big.file & lee.pl However, when I call these scripts from a PHP webpage, the named pipe blocks: $awk="/path/to/lee.awk {$_FILES['uploadfile']['tmp_name']} &"; $sql="/path/to/lee.pl"; if(!exec($awk,$return,$err)) throw new ZException(print_r($err,true)); //blocks here if(!exec($sql,$return,$err)) throw new ZException(print_r($err,true)); If I modify the awk and Perl scripts so that they write and read to a normal file, everything works fine from PHP. The permissions on the fifo and the normal file are 666 (for testing purposes). These operations run much more quickly through a named pipe, so I'd prefer to use one. Any ideas how to unblock it? ps. • To GAC, or not to GAC?

  I have a data access layer (DAL) that is written in ASP.NET 3.5 and uses the Microsoft patterns & practices libraries (hereafter referred to as P&P) in order to accomplish its data access. I installed P&P and it resides in my GAC, so, logically, my DAL references it in the GAC. Therefore, the P&P libraries are never pulled down to the bin folder of my DAL. I use this DAL project in at least five (more than that even, but I'm too lazy to try to count them all) different websites. And this has all worked just fine for me because I'm the only developer who works on these websites. But, now I have other developers who are going to work on some of these websites. The problem: if a developer pulls the DAL project down from our code repository, it won't build for them if they don't have the P&P libraries installed. My question: should I expect the developers to install the P&P libraries, or should I just dump them in the bin folder and be done with it? I realize that dumping them into the bin folder is probably the easiest way to deal with the problem, but I've never been a big fan of the bin folder if I can reference them in the GAC instead.

• Tokenizing a string with unequal number of spaces between fields

  I am tryint to tokenize entries from a file. However I am not able to use the line.split("") option because of unequal number of spaces between files. I have no trouble accessing the first and second columns, but not the last column. When I do a info=line.spilt(""), since the third column might or might no entries, I am not able to determine the token number. How do i access the 4th column? Is there a way i can use info[i].contains(" -")?

• Cookies not present after using XMLHttpRequest

  I'm trying to make a bookmarklet to download videos off of YouTube, but I've come across a little problem. To detect the highest quality video available, I use a sort of brute force method, in which I make requests using the XMLHttpRequest object until a 404 isn't returned (I can't do it until a 200 ok is returned because YouTube redirects to a different server if the video is available, and the cross-domain policy won't allow me to access any of that data). Once a working URL is found, I simply set window.location to the URL and the download should start, right? Wrong. A request is made, but for reasons unknown to me, the cookies are stripped and YouTube returns a 403 access denied. This does not happen if the XML requests aren't made before it, i.e. if I just set the window.location to the URL everything works fine, it's when I do the XMLHttpRequest that the cookies aren't sent. However, simply doing this: document.location = /get_video?video_id=" + yt.getConfig('SWF_ARGS')['video_id'] + "&t=" + (unescape(yt.getConfig('SWF_ARGS')['t'])) DOES send the cookies along with the request, and does work. The only downside is I can't automatically detect the highest quality, I just have to try every "fmt" parameter manually until I get it right. So my question is: why is the XMLHttpRequest object removing cookies from subsequent requests? This is the first time I've ever done anything in JS by the way, so please, go easy on me. ;)

• BreezingForms Integrator Finalize Code and $this->execPieceByName('ff_InitLib');

  I've started working on a Joomla! project (I'm mainly a C#/ASP.NET kind a guy). I'm using BreezingForms and have created forms, got them working, but now I need to do some additional code in the "Finalize Code" section. I need to access form elements via BreezingForms(FacileForms) API. Here's what I'm doing, but it chokes: $this->execPieceByName('ff_SubmitLib'); // Is this necessary? // load the standard Facile Forms library $this->execPieceByName('ff_InitLib'); // page breaks here. // get the name of the uploaded file $filename = ff_getSubmit('someUploadedFile'); Now I don't know what goes wrong. The page posts back blank. I'm not sure how to debug this in Joomla. I currently do not have access to the server to debug, so I would need to debug remotely at runtime (not ideal I know). My account is of type Administrator for the Joomla backend. As far as I know all the plugins/modules are installed. Any ideas?

• Robotium - Write to file in eclipse workspace or computer file system

  I'm running some tests using Robotium on an Android application that interacts with a web-portal. I'd like to save some information to file; for example I need to save the id of the username I created from the app and I want to make it read from Selenium to run tests on web-portal to verify a webpage for that user has been created. Is it possible? Could someone suggest me a solution or a work-around? • Unmanaged DLL in C# Web Service

  Hi Guys, please help µe as I am new into accessing an unmanaged DLL from C#.. I have a large unmanaged DLL in C++ and I am trying to access the DLL's classes and functions from a C# Web Service. I have seen many examples how to use DLLImport, but for some reason I am stuck with my very first wrapper method spending many hours with no luck.. What should I do to return an object in my 'Marshaled' [DllImport..] function? • java RMI newbie-- some basic questions about SSL and auth/.rate limiting an RMI service

  I am trying to work to secure a java based RMI service using SSL. I have some basic questions about the capabilities of using SSL. Specifically, from what I understand, the client and server connecting via SSL will need to have appropriate credential certificates in both client and server, for a client to be granted access to the server. Am I correct in my understanding? Also, what I want to know is, can a person who is already using my RMI service and has access to a client machine , make a copy of the certificate in the client machine to other client machines-- and then invoke my RMI service from those other machines as well? How do I prevent such a situation from occurring? I mean, in a REST API you can use OAuth authentication, can we have some kind of authentication in an RMI Service? Also, can I possibly limit usage of the RMI service? For eg, a specific client may be allowed to make only 5000 calls per day to my RMI service, and if he makes more calls the calls occurring after the 5000 calls limit are all denied? How do I do such rate limiting and/or authentication for my RMI Service?

• Python equivalent of IDL's stop and .reset

  Hi there, I'm relatively new to python but have a bit of experience using IDL. I was wondering if anyone knows if there are equivalent commands in python for IDL's stop and .reset commands. If I'm running some IDL script I wrote that I put a stop command in, essentially what it does is stop the script there and give me access to the command line in the middle of the script. So I have access to all the functions and variables that I defined before the stop command, which I find really useful for debugging. The .reset command I find extremely useful too. What it does is reset the the IDL environment (clears all variables, functions, etc.). It's as if I closed that session and opened a new one, but without having to exit and restart IDL. I find that if I'm trying to debug a script I wrote it's useful sometimes to start from scratch and not have to reset IDL (or python now). It would be useful also in python to be able to un-import any modules I had previously imported. Any help with these issues would be greatly appreciated. • FileSystem.GetFiles() + UnauthorizedAccessException error?

  Hello, It seems like FileSystem.GetFiles() is unable to recover from the UnauthorizedAccessException exception that .Net triggers when trying to access an off-limit directory. In this case, does it mean this class/method isn't useful when scanning a whole drive and I should use some other solution (in which case: Which one?)? • Why do Asp.net timers/updatepanels leak memory and can it be fixed/worked around?

  I have built a suite of internal websites for our company to manage some of our processes. I have been noticing that these pages have massive memory leaks that cause the pages to be using well over 150mb of memory, which is ridiculous for a webpage that consists of a single form and a GridView that is displaying 7-10 rows of data at a time, sometimes with the data not changing for a whole day. This data does need to be refreshed on a semi-regular basis so that we always see the latest results and can act on them. After some testing it appears that the memory leak is extremely easy to reproduce, and very noticeable. I created a page with the following asp.net markup: <body> <form id="form1" runat="server"> <div> <asp:scriptmanager ID="Scriptmanager1" runat="server"></asp:scriptmanager> <asp:Timer ID="timer1" runat="server" Interval="1000" /> <asp:UpdatePanel ID="UpdatePanel1" runat="server"> <ContentTemplate> </ContentTemplate> </asp:UpdatePanel> </div> </form> </body> There is absolutely no code behind for this. This is the entirety of the page. Running this site in Chrome shows the memory usage shoot up to 25 megs in the span of 20-30 seconds. Leaving it running for a few minutes makes the memory go up to the 70 megs and such. Am I using timers and update panels wrong, or is this a pure Asp.net issue with no work around?

ProjectService.Save(dto); Is this a good approach for what I am trying to do? I am getting an errorthat I can't track down that I think may be realted to having too many service client connections open (is this possible?) notice I never close the service client or reuse it. What would the best practice for WCF service client's be for WPF calling? Thanks in advance...

When the button is clicked, I want the PollFrame to be displayed. • After Filter redirects to login.jsp, proper servlet doesnt get called

  My simple project structure is shown in this link. I am using Eclipse and Tomcat 6. There is login.jsp which submits its form to login_servlet. The login_servlet sets a session variable and then redirects to home.jsp. The home.jsp file has links to the 4 JSP files under a directory called /sam. In web.xml I have given the url-pattern as /sam/* for the LogFiler filter. The LogFilter just reads the session variable and does doChain(request,resposne) if valid, else it redirects to /login.jsp. RequestDispatcher rd = request.getRequestDispatcher("/login.jsp"); rd.forward(request,response); Basically I don't want anyone to access files inside /sam directory directly. Now let's say, I try to directly access a file inside /sam directory, the filter kicks in and the redirection to login.jsp works and even the broswers contents are that of login.jsp, but the url in the browser doesn't change. When I enter details and press submit, instead of sending the data to login_servlet, it sends it to sam/login_servlet and then tomcat tells me there is no such servlet here! Obviously there isn't. My doubt is why is it sending it so sam/login_servlet instead of /login_servlet which is usually what it does when I start running the login.jsp on my own. One more thing, is there a way I can apply the servlet to ONLY .jsp files inside /sam diectory? I tried giving the url-pattern like /sam/*.jsp, but Tomcat was refusing to accept that url-pattern.

• Why can't I debug from Visual Studio 2005 after installing IE8?

  I've just installed IE8 (final) and restarted. I can no longer debug Web Application Projects using Visual Studio 2005 on Windows Server 2003 Enterprise R2. I get the message "Internet Explorer cannot display the webpage" and then WebDev.WebServer.exe quits with no visible error message and nothing in the Event Viewer. Does anyone have any ideas? Things that haven't helped: Adding localhost to trusted sites Changing the port to 8080 or 80 Checking my hosts file (it's just got 127.0.0.1 localhost in it) Things that have helped a bit: Running (not debugging) with CTRL-F5, which works fine (unless you need to debug) Changing the default Visual Studio browser to Firefox, which allows me to debug My hosts file contains: # Copyright (c) 1993-1999 Microsoft Corp. # # This is a sample HOSTS file used by Microsoft TCP/IP for Windows. # # This file contains the mappings of IP addresses to host names. Each # entry should be kept on an individual line. • AccessControlException when trying to redeploy webapp to Tomcat using Netbeans

  I'm getting the following error trying redeploy an webapp on Tomcat from within Netbeans 6.8. It has probably something to do with the new deploy on save and hot swap functionality. Any ideas how to resolve this issue? • DHTML with Javascript and CSS is not working

  So for some reason this unobtrusive javascript code is not working and I can't figure out for the life of me why it won't work. I dynamically change the className of a div element and therefore I expect the CSS to reflect that change. However it doesn't. However, the webpage doesn't reflect that by changing the background color to be red. (it doesn't work with changing text color either. I tried that.). I know the CSS is correctly loading. So what is the problem?

• Sharepoint.OpenDocuments Control Compatible with Forms Authentication?

  We are using the Sharepoint.OpenDocuments.EditDocument2 ActiveX control and method. The method is being called from JavaScript in an IE6 client on a Windows XP SP3 client (fully patched). The server is running IIS6 on Windows Server 2003 SP1 Fronting the IIS server is Tivoli Access Manager (TAM) which proxies access to the web applications sitting behind it. Similar to forms authentication, it creates a session cookie for authentication purposes, that must be present for the HTTP request to reach the IIS server. In front of TAM is an F5/BigIP load balancer and SSL encryption offloader, which enforces that incoming requests use the HTTPS protocol. What is happening is that HTTP requests issued by this control do not contain any session cookies that were present in the browser. It drops the ASP.NET session cookie, the ASP.NET forms authentication cookie and the TAM cookie Because the TAM cookie is missing the request is redirected to the TAM login page, which then shows up via HTML conversion in Word or Excel. The API documentation at http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ms440037.aspx mentions nothing about security or appropriate usage scenarios for this control. Should these controls work in an ASP.Net Forms Authentication scenario or are they only supported with Windows Authentication. If Forms Authentication is supposed to function, how do we get the control to include the necessary session cookies in its requests?

• OData / WCF Data Service - HTTP 500 Error

  I have created an OData/WCF service using Visual Studio 2010 on Windows XP SP3 with all current patches installed. When I click on "view in browser", the service opens and I see the 3 tables from my EF model. However, when I add a table name ("Commands" in this case) to the end of the query string, rather than seeing the data from the table, I get an HTTP 500 error. (This error (HTTP 500 Internal Server Error) means that the website you are visiting had a server problem which prevented the webpage from displaying.). I have not only followed the examples from 2 sites, but have also tried running the sample application that the blog poster sent me (that works on his machine), and still am not having any luck. The blog post is at Exposing OData from an Entity Framework Model Does anyone have an idea why this is occurring and how to resolve it? • Password Cracking Windows Accounts

  At work we have laptops with encrypted harddrives. Most developers here (on occasion I have been guilty of it too) leave their laptops in hibernate mode when they take them home at night. Obviously, Windows (i.e. there is a program running in the background which does it for windows) must have a method to unencrypt the data on the drive, or it wouldn't be able to access it. That being said, I always thought that leaving a windows machine on in hibernate mode in a non-secure place (not at work on a lock) is a security threat, because someone could take the machine, leave it running, hack the windows accounts and use it to encrypt the data and steal the information. When I got to thinking about how I would go about breaking into the windows system without restarting it, I couldn't figure out if it was possible. I know it is possible to write a program to crack windows passwords once you have access to the appropriate file(s). But is it possible to execute a program from a locked Windows system that would do this? I don't know of a way to do it, but I am not a Windows expert. If so, is there a way to prevent it? I don't want to expose security vulnerabilities about how to do it, so I would ask that someone wouldn't post the necessary steps in details, but if someone could say something like "Yes, it's possible the USB drive allows arbitrary execution," that would be great! EDIT: The idea being with the encryption is that you can't reboot the system, because once you do, the disk encryption on the system requires a login before being able to start windows. With the machine being in hibernate, the system owner has already bypassed the encryption for the attacker, leaving windows as the only line of defense to protect the data.

• Problem with extended ASCII characters in web page/master page

  I have some localization problems in my webpage. There are basically two problems (that I suspect have a different sulution, but they are conseptually linked) First problem is this: I have a website that is using a master page. All text from the page is fine, but all text that comes from the master page file, get scrambled norwegian characters. For example Ø shows up as Ø. It seems that all characthers in the extended ASCII table gets scrambled this way. Afterwards, if I open the master page in Notepad the Ø looks normal, but if I remove the Ø and write a new Ø manually, then save the file from Notepad, and then open the website in the browser, it looks fine and the Ø is shown properly. So it seems that Visual Studio saves the characters wrongly in the master file, but correct for the aspx file. Any clue here? The second issue is norwegian characters coming from jQuery. All of these characters get's replaced by a questionmark with a black box around it. Here, modifying the js file in Notepad does not help, and it still display scrambled in the browser. Any input here would be appreciated.
