  • Are there C# controls that can be used to create a hierarchical list of prioritised items?

    I need to be able to display and edit a hierarchical list of tasks in a C# app. It can either be a Windows form app, or ASP.NET. Basically, I want similar behaviour to the way Microsoft Project handles tasks. The control would need to: 1) Maintain a list of items made up of several fields 2) Each item can have a number of children (at least 3 levels of nesting) 3) It needs to be very easy to change the parents/children of an item 4) It needs to be very easy to edit the fields (as fast as changing cells in Excel) 5) It needs to be very easy to reorder the items by dragging and dropping or cut and paste 6) If I can easily connect the control to a database, even better Before I go and create something manually, I'm wondering if there is something available already?

  • Form based authentication - Login get fails

    Hi All, I am using form based suthentication in my site. I have used one custom user control in my site which read items in sharepoint list and display it in a grid. Everything works fine with windows authentication but when I change the authentication to form based the login process get fails. I see the Error log it is giving me an error saying that "An SPRequest object was not disposed before the end of this thread" Then I have dispose all my spweb and spsite object that I have used in user control but still login process is not wotking.   • WPF: Turning off animations, data binding temporarly for invisible objects?;)

    I have a window that contains a tab control - basically multiple sheets with visualizations on them. The visualtizations are: possible very resource intensive during rendering relying on constant data updates to update their underlying models Obviously only one sheet can be visible every time ;) Anyone knows of a good way to turn off all visualization, animations, data binding for a control / panel and it's contained controls? If I would find a way to do that, I could simply turn off all the invisible sheets and reactivate them as needed. The models must be kept running - some of the visual stuff is pretty complex and really relies on constant data updates, and recalculating it when someone switches tabs would be too hard.

  • Will there be IQueryable-like additions to IObservable? (.NET Rx)

    The new IObservable/IObserver frameworks in the System.Reactive library coming in .NET 4.0 are very exciting (see this and this link). It may be too early to speculate, but will there also be a (for lack of a better term) IQueryable-like framework built for these new interfaces as well? One particular use case would be to assist in pre-processing events at the source, rather than in the chain of the receiving calls. For example, if you have a very 'chatty' event interface, using the Subscribe().Where(...) will receive all events through the pipeline and the client does the filtering. What I am wondering is if there will be something akin to IQueryableObservable, whereby these LINQ methods will be 'compiled' into some 'smart' Subscribe implementation in a source. I can imagine certain network server architectures that could use such a framework. Or how about an add-on to SQL Server (or any RDBMS for that matter) that would allow .NET code to receive new data notifications (triggers in code) and would need those notifications filtered server-side.

  • Silverlight: Use reflection to get the BindingExpression (and value) for controls having a ContentPr

    Hello, I need to use reflection to get the binding value in a control that is a DataGridTemplateColumn (e.g HyperLinkButton). Does anyone know how I might do this? It seems simple enough to do this with a TextBlock because it has a “TextProperty” dependency property, but I can’t seem to get a binding expression from a control that does not have an immediate “TextProperty”. Here is the code I’m using to acquire the binding expression for a TextBlock: FrameworkElement fe = (FrameworkElement)dependencyObj; FieldInfo fi = fe.GetType().GetField("TextProperty"); BindingExpression bindingExpression = fe.GetBindingExpression((DependencyProperty)fi.GetValue(null)) However, the following code never works for a dependency object that is a HyperLinkButton: FieldInfo fi = fe.GetType().GetField("ContentProperty"); Does anyone know how I might be able to get the BindingExpression (and binding value) for the content of a HyperLinkButton?   • Python MySQLdb LOAD LOCAL INFILE problems

    The problem is a simple one. When I execute the following I get different results depending on whether I run it from the MySQL console and from inside a Python Script using MySQLdb: LOAD DATA LOCAL INFILE '/tmp/source.csv' INTO TABLE test FIELDS TERMINATED BY '|' IGNORE 1 LINES; Console gives the following results: Records: 35002 Deleted: 0 Skipped: 0 Warnings: 0 Python (via .info()) returns the following: Records: 34977 Deleted: 0 Skipped: 0 Warnings: 8 So in summary, same source file, same SQL request, different results. From the console I can 'SHOW WARNINGS' an get a better handle on which records are causing the problems and why but from Python I can't idenitify how to do this or more importantly what the cause of the problem could be. Any suggestions? MySQL Server '5.1.41-3ubuntu12.1' Python '2.6.5' Tables are MyISAM

I'm trying to convert my MFC application, a simple "PaintBrush" app that draws lines and rectangles (it's only a little test from another bigger application), to a ActiveX Control that a could embed into a Windows Forms Application (with Visual C#). I didn't found any tutorial for do this, and now, I'm not sure that this it's possible. I know how create an ActiveX Control recently created but not how convert an existing application.     I know it's a Windows PE32, but I also know that the unit of deployment in .NET is an assembly which in turn has a manifest and can be made up of multiple managed modules. My questions are : 1) How would you create multiple managed modules when building a project such as a class lib or a console app etc. 2) Is there a way to specify this to the compiler(via the project properties for example) to partition your source code files into multiple managed modules. If so what is the benefit of doing so? 3)Can managed modules span assemblies? 4)Are separate file created on disk when the source code is compiled or are these created in memory and directly embedded in an assembly?

  • Reload external javascript after asynchronous postback via UpdatePanel

    I have an external javascript on my page, e.g. something like: <script src="http://foo.com/script.js" type="text/javascript"></script> and an UpdatePanel somewhere. The script writes some content, and does this from within an anonymous javascript function in the js file. I.e., there is something like this in the script: (function(){document.write('content');})(); Whenever the UpdatePanel is updated through asynchronous postback, everything the script did (or any javascript on my page, for that matter) is made undone. For normal javascript, I would just use: Sys.WebForms.PageRequestManager.getInstance().add_endRequest(myFunction) to redo all that, but since the function in the script source file is anonymous and called upon definition, I'm SOL! Any ideas? Note: the external js source is from another domain and its content is out of my control.

  • 'Out of Memory exception' in sql server 2005 xml column

    Hi All, I am devloping a windows forms application and am using sql server 2005 database as my backend. I am having an xml column in my database. I am using ultrawingrid control in my application.I obtain the xml of the dataset which is bound to my ultrawingrid control and pass that as a parameter value to the stored procedure where am inserting this value into the xml column which I specified. The columns in my grid are dynamic and hence there can be any no of columns in my grid. I got 'out of memory' exception in the dataset.GetXml() statement since there were more no of columns I believe.So, what I did is that I used dataset.WriteXml() method and stored all the xml contents into an xml file, loaded the xml file into the XmlDocument object and then passed the xmlnodereader as the value to the stored procedure parameter.Now, while executing the stored procedure am getting the same 'out of memory' exception. How could I resolve this issue?

    Hi, I'm trying to solve the problem: when a user is being logged into a WebSite (via user control .ascx stored on the Master Page), it's name is being stored in a Page.User.Identity.Name property. OK, but how to retrieve that user name in the controller ? Is it possible without registering System.Security.Principal namespace in the controller ? In the other words - the controller must know whose user wants to do some action (e.g. change account data). I could store it's name in the Html.Hidden control on each View but I don't want to have a mess in my Views

I have a button on the main xml layout which calls control() and sets up my InputControl view, from there I capture user input.   • JavaScript function pass-through?

    I'm not sure if this is doable, but I would like to be able to set a jQuery UI event as a function (directly), as opposed to continuing to wrap in additional function(event, ui) { ... } wrappers. Hopefully you can see what I'm going for from the example below. Here is what I would like: $("#auto").autocomplete({ source: "somepage.php", select: dropdownSelect, minLength: 0 }); Now I would think that the above would work, since I'm simply trying to say "continue firing this event, just over to that function".     Java has its own garbage collection implementation so it does not require any destructor like C++ . This makes Java developer lazy in implementing memory management. And Garbage Collection is very expensive. Still we can have destructor along with garbage collector where developer can free resources and which can save garbage collector's work. This might improves the performance of application. Why does Java not provide any destructor kind of mechanism? Developer does not have control over GC but he/she can control or create object. Then why not give them ability to destruct the objects?

So i have: Already compiled executable (for whom i don't have the source) A class in that program that i want to call The program doesn't have export for the class, and that's my problem i don't have definition for this class, so is there a way to get a callback to this class? Example: In the compiled executable: foo::bar (example) { printf(example); } My app: CALLBACK(foo::bar, "this text must be passed as argument") Or in other words i want to call a class in other executable (without having its source) and pass arguments to its function.

  • How can I save the schema of a SQL Database to a file?

    I'm writing a software application in C#.Net that connects to a SQL Server database. My C# project is under SVN version control, but I'd like to include my database schema in the SVN repository as well. An answer to a previous question of mine suggested storing the scripts to generate the database in version control. Is there a way to automatically generate these scripts from an existing database? I'm very new to SQL Server, but I noticed in management studio that the SQL commands to create a table can be generated automatically by right clicking on the table and clicking "Script Table As". Is there an equivalent command that would work with the entire database?

  • How can I avoid Windows 8.1 resetting my font size?

    I am using Windows 8.1 on my laptop, which has a 15.6" screen with resolution 1366x768. I measured the screen with a ruler and calculated its DPI, which is 101. Therefore, I have set the scaling to 105%. However, when I change to an external monitor, which is a huge one with resolution 1920x1080 and DPI 93, I need to change the scaling to 97% but when I change the DPI back and forth, my font sizes have get resetted. I prefer using font sizes 14 on my title bars, message boxes and icons and font sizes 13 on my palette titles, menus and tooltips. However, as my laptop screen is too small, in order to make my apps fit on screen, I use font sizes 12 on my title bars, message boxes and icons and font sizes 11 on my palette titles, menus and tooltips. I don't know why I can't resize the window to make it larger than my screen in Windows (but it is possible in Kubuntu), therefore, some parts of my apps cannot be shown with my preferred font size. I have tried changing both the DPI and the font size by using .reg files. However, on my laptop screen, after I applied the file, signed out and in, the DPI setting changed, but the font sizes were resetted to tiny, and I had to apply the same file, signed out and in again to get the correct font size. The situation is even worse on my external monitor. After I applied the file, signed out and in, both the DPI setting and the font sizes were resetted to their default values, which were 96 DPI (the physical DPI as measured by dividing the resolution by the physical size is 93) and font size 9, which is totally unacceptable. How can I write the .reg files such that the settings can be correctly applied with a single sign in?

  • Unable to delete file locked by same process -- weird!

    I have an application written in PHP that uses a COM dll written in C#. The dll creates an image file by combining two other image files. The PHP script then takes over to do the housekeeping tasks of deleting the two source files and renaming the resulting combined file. The problem is the PHP script can't delete one of the source files because it's locked. The weird thing is that the process that has it locked is itself which in this case is the Apache Web Server. I have tried altering the C# dll to dispose of all bitmap and graphics objects prior to exiting, and yet the lock remains. My question is, what can I do to get the dll to let go and release the file locks. This is very frustrating.

I made a class that inherited from Decorator as follows class BetterBorder : Decorator { protected override Size ArrangeOverride(Size arrangeSize) { return arrangeSize; } protected override void OnRender(DrawingContext dc) { //these values are calculated elsewhere dc.DrawGeometry(backgroundBrush, borderPen, pathGeometry); } } //Properties and helper methods below this All of this works fine until I try to add a child to the control, the control can be added but is not visible and seems to be moved off BetterBorders visible client area. If I inherit from Border everything works fine, what am I missing?

    I'm experiencing the problem outlined in this kb article. http://support.microsoft.com/kb/927917 . Sorry I can't hyperlink cos i don't have enough points! "This problem occurs because a child container HTML element contains script that tries to modify the parent container element of the child container. The script tries to modify the parent container element by using either the innerHTML method or the appendChild method." The problem I'm having diagnosing the source of my problem is 2 fold: 1) This is only happening on some client machines (All are running IE8) and not others. How/Why only some? 2) I don't have any scripts which modify the innerHTML or call appendChild on any dom elements. I do have server side code which modify properties on asp .net server controls. (Essentially all thats happening is a panel control with some more controls is being made visbile or invisible on a button click), would these in turn then set the innerHTML property of the client rendered control(?)

I want to be able to pass the event and not the object housing the event to the StartListening method.

    Hi, i have little dilemma, i often use data-bound controls such as Gridview in conjunction with ObjectDataSource. But i have two possible options when can i bind data to Gridview. The first is that i set datasourceid of gridview in aspx file and databind occurs in a moment before PreRender event occurs or i can set datasource in Page_Load event and databinding occurs immediately, something like this: protected void Page_Load(object sender, EventArgs e) { if (!IsPostBack) { testGridView.DataSource = testObjectDataSource.Select(); testGridView.DataBind(); } } I think that in second approach i have more control above databinding. But how it is in real programming life? Which of the above two options is commonly used? Or is there some third option how can i bind data to data-bound control? Thanks for your opinions from real-life experiences.
