• Custom authorize using MVC

  Im working a bit with MVC. I need to know something about roles when using the same controller for several users getting and showing pictures. I need to show pictures, but sometimes these pictures should only be shown for those who created them. So now when using the Authorize attribute and if picture and username match thrue my databse I could ofcause use this to make a match. I could ofcause make a match method in the controller. [Authorize] controllGetPicture(Picture ID){ getSomepicture.. return picture } DB relations Relations [User] <- [Pictures] ID FK_UserID Im thinking about just getting the User ID and compare with the Picture FK_UserId at the picture but I think it could be smarter. How?

• Doctrine SQL Server uniqueidentifier isn't cast as char or nvarchar when retrieved from the database

  When I retrieve a record from the database which has a column of type "uniqueidentifier", Doctrine fills it with "null" rather than the unique id from the database. Some research and testing has brought this down to a PDO/dblib driver issue. When directly querying via PDO, null is returned in place of the unique id. For reference, http://trac.doctrine-project.org/ticket/1096, has a bit on this, however, it was updated 11 months ago with no comment for resolution. A way around this, as mentioned at http://bugs.php.net/bug.php?id=24752&edit=1, is to cast the column as a char. However, it doesn't seem Doctrine exposes the native field type outside of generating models which makes it a bit hard to detect uniqueidentifier types and cast them internally when building the sql query. Has anyone found a workaround for this?

• How can I fit an Image into another imageview

  I have an imageview with a default image already set from the xml, and I want to change it's image pragmatically so that the new image will scale to the previous image size, both of the images are rounded. I have tried setting the scaleType attribute to different values before setting the new image but it didn't work. • Reducing Dimension For SVM in Sensor Network

  Hi Everyone, I am looking for some suggestions on a problem that I am currently facing. I have a set of sensor say S1-S100 which is triggered when some event E1-E20 is performed. Assume, normally E1 triggers S1-S20, E2 triggers S15-S30, E3 triggers S20-s50 etc and E1-E20 are completely independent events. Occasionally an event E might trigger any other unrelated sensor. I am using ensemble of 20 svm to analyze each event separately. My features are sensor frequency F1-F100, number of times each sensor is triggered and few other related features. I am looking for a technique that can reduce the dimensionality of the sensor feature(F1-F100)/ or some techniques that encompasses all of the sensor and reduces the dimension too(i was looking for some information theory concept for last few days) . I dont think averaging, maximization is a good idea as I risk loosing information(it did not give me good result). Can somebody please suggest what am I missing here? A paper or some starting idea... When I tried $("#attachmentContainer").text() it gives out all #Attachment#, #AttachmentName# as well as #AttachmentPath#. I know I could just put #Attachment# into another span and access it directly but I was just intrigued on how to do this. Any help is much appreciated.

  I have 2 Tables, User and Mail. In User Table i have 2 columns that i will use, the ID column which makes the relation with the Mail Table and it is the Index of User Table and the Name column. In Mail Table i have Receiver Column and Sender Column. Both columns, Receiver and Sender have a number that relates to the ID Column in the User Table. In the User Table is where the name columns resides and i want to make a query that shows me the Receiver and Sender Columns but with the name of the user, not the ID. Up to this point i have this: SELECT name AS Send, name AS Receive FROM mail,user WHERE sender=guid; I know there is still a part of the query missing but i can not figure out what else to put to tell it to show in the SEND output column the name of the sender and in the RECEIVE output column the name of the receiver.

  Hi everybody. I'm trying to make a tabbed menu for the asp.net website I'm working on. One of the pre-requisite is obviously to color the current tab differently, so the user can know on which tab is currently is. • Database Design Question: GUID + Natural Numbers

  For a database I'm building, I've decided to use natural numbers as the primary key. I'm aware of the advantages that GUID's allow, but looking at the data, the bulk of row's data were GUID keys. I want to generate XML records from the database data, and one problem with natural numbers is that I don't want to expose my database key's to the outside world, and allow users to guess "keys." I believe GUID's solve this problem. So, I think the solution is to generate a sparse, unique iD derived from the natural ID (hopefully it would be 2-way), or just add an extra column in the database and store a guid (or some other multibyte id) The derived value is nicer because there is no storage penalty, but it would be easier to reverse and guess compared to a GUID. I'm (buy) curious as to what others on SO have done, and what insights they have.

• Querying calender events even if they do not have any for the day

  Hey everyone, i am trying to figure out a way of query my mysql server so that even if a company does not have anything posted for the day the user clicks on their logo, it still adds them to the list. That sounds a little confusing so let me try to explain it another way. Say i have 3 company's in my database: Comp1 Comp2 Comp3 And Comp1 & Comp3 have something for today on the calender but Comp2 does not. I still need it to populate and place that company on the page but have something along the lines of "nothing on the calender for today". The other 2 companys (Comp1 & Comp3) would show the calender posting for that day. This is the code i have right now: SELECT clientinfo.id, clientinfo.theCompName, clientinfo.theURL, clientinfo.picURL, clientinfo.idNumber, clientoffers.idNumber, clientoffers.theDateStart, clientoffers.theDateEnd FROM clientinfo, clientoffers WHERE clientinfo.accountStats = 'OPEN' AND clientinfo.idNumber = clientinfo.idNumber AND '2010-05-08' BETWEEN clientoffers.theDateStart AND clientoffers.theDateEnd GROUP BY clientinfo.idNumber ORDER BY clientinfo.theCompName ASC That executes just fine but for Comp2, it just places the calender info from Comp1 into it when it really doesn't have anything. The output looks like this: Comp1 | 2010-05-08 | this is the calender event 1 | etc etc Comp2 | 2010-05-08 | this is the calender event 1 | etc etc comp3 | 2010-05-09 | this is the calender event 2 | etc etc Any help would be great :o) David

If instead I set elementValue = 2; it works fine. If I try to hardcode in a string value for testing purposes e.g. elementValue = "nameToLookUp"; It fails. Why is this happening, and how do I resolve it? On a side not, why is type: required to be POST instead of a GET? In the end I just want to pass a string value I want to look up in a DB and retrieving some json data.

  Hello, I was wondering if there's anyway to get a 'dynamic path' into a .js file through Ruby on Rails. For example, I have the following: new Ajax.Request('/tokens/destroy/' + GRID_ID, {asynchronous:true, evalScripts:true, onComplete:function(request){load('26', 'table1', request.responseText)}, parameters:'token=' + dsrc.id + '&authenticity_token=' + encodeURIComponent(AUTH_TOKEN)}) The main URL is '/tokens/destroy/:id', however on my production server this app runs as a sub folder. So the URL for this ajax call needs to be '/qrpsdrail/tokens/destroy/:id' The URL this is being called from would be /grids/1 or /qrpsdrail/grids/1 I could, of course, do ../../path -- but that seems a bit hackish. It is also dependent on the routing never changing, which at this stage I can't guarantee. I'm just interested in seeing what other solutions there might be to this problem. Thanks in advance :)
