  • Achieving AES-256 Channel Encryption with the .NET Compact Framework

    Hi There, I am working on a business application where the clients are Windows Mobile 6.1 Professional devices. The server is a Java enterprise application. The industry working group recommends AES-256 encryption for client/server communications. This is necessary to gain certification. The encryption doesn't necessarily need to be channel encryption, it could be payload encryption. Channel encryption is preferable. The client and server communicate using SOAP/HTTP, which we are yet to implement. We plan to use WCF on the compact framework. In order to alleviate some of the work required to implement manual encryption/decryption, it would be nice if we could achieve the required encryption either at the TLS level, or somehow using the WS-* standards (I'm not particularly familiar with that group of technologies but I am learning right now). The server supports https with 256-bit AES. Does anybody have an idea on the best way to implement this? Thanks in advance.

  • Netbeans C++ not finding standard libraries (Macintosh)

    Hello everyone! I am trying to use Netbeans 6.7 (on a Mac) to create C++ applications. I started out with the standard "Hello World," just to test if everything was working correctly. First try std and could not be found. So I tried reinstalling the developer tools on my Mac OS X disk. After that Netbeans updated its c++ compiler info, but still cannot find std or . Odder than this XCode seems to be working with C++ perfectly fine. Any help fixing this would be greatly appreciated.

  • Lost in dates and timezones

    I'm working on an application that stores conferences with their start and end date. Up until now, I was developing in Belgium and my server is in France, so everything is in the same timezone, no problem. But today, I'm in San Francisco, my server is in France and I noticed I have a bug. I'm setting dates from a Flex client (ActionScript automatically adapts date display according to client local timezone, which is GMT-8 for me today. My server runs on Hibernate and MySQL in France (GMT+1). So when I look at my database using phpMyAdmin, I see a date set to "2010-06-07 00:00:01" but in my Flex client it displays "2010-06-06 15:00:01". Ultimately, what I want is that the dates are displayed in the local timezone of the event, which is the date I set it to. So when I'm in Belgium and I set the start date of an event to be "2010-06-07 00:00:01" I want to retrieve it that way. But I'm lost as to what layer adapts what. Is timezone stored in DATETIME MySQL columns (I can't see it in MySQL)? Does Hibernate to anything to it when it transfers it to java.lang.Date that has Timezone information? And ultimately, what is the best way to solve this mess?

  • Reading into directory, unix shell script

    I am trying to analyze the files/directories inside of a directory using a shell script, for example if the file is readable, if it is a file, if it is a directory, etc. My script is set up to take a directory as input. so I would type 'file.sh directoryname'. However, when I create a for loop to analyze the files, it analyzes the files in my current working directory rather than the specified directory name. This is my broken code: file=$1 set mypath = $file for file in $mypath * do if [ -d $file ] dirCount=`expr $dirCount + 1` fi done Why does this read the working directory instead of the specified directory? Any help is appreciated. Thanks

In my struggling, I already managed to avoid the javax.naming.NameNotFoundException by: 1. using in java new InitialContext().lookup(connection); instead of new JndiObjectFactoryBean().setJndiName(connection); 2. changing the connection name from: 'jndi-name' to 'java:jndi-name' Now the problem is that the datasouce that I get from the lookup is null.   • PHP - Get dates of next 5 weekdays?

    I'm trying to create an array of the next 5 working week days (Monday - Friday, excluding today). I know the working week varies around the world but this is not important for what I am trying to do. So, for example, if today is a Wednesday, I want the dates for Thursday and Friday of the current week and Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday of the following week. I thought this would work: $dates = array(); for ($i = 1; $ < 6; $i ++) { $dates[] = date('Y-m-d', strtotime('+ '.$i.' weekday')); } But for today, it is giving me: Monday 1st Tuesday 2nd Wednesday 3rd Thursday 4th Sunday 7th!   • Script Speed vs Memory Usage

    I am working on an image generation script in PHP and have gotten it working two ways. One way is slow but uses a limited amount of memory, the second is much faster, but uses 6x the memory . There is no leakage in either script (as far as I can tell). In a limited benchmark, here is how they performed: -------------------------------------------- METHOD | TOTAL TIME | PEAK MEMORY | IMAGES -------------------------------------------- One | 65.626 | 540,036 | 200 Two | 20.207 | 3,269,600 | 200 -------------------------------------------- And here is the average of the previous numbers (if you don't want to do your own math): -------------------------------------------- METHOD | TOTAL TIME | PEAK MEMORY | IMAGES -------------------------------------------- One | 0.328 | 540,036 | 1 Two | 0.101 | 3,269,600 | 1 -------------------------------------------- Which method should I use and why? I anticipate this being used by a high volume of users, with each user making 10-20 requests to this script during a normal visit. I am leaning toward the faster method because though it uses more memory, it is for a 1/3 of the time and would reduce the number of concurrent requests.

  • Is nothing truly ever deleted in git?

    I'm currently learning git, usually I'm a bit skeptic of VCS since I have a hard time getting used to them. I deleted a branch called "experimental" with some tmp files, I saw the files removed in my working directory so I scratched my head and wondered if this is normal, can I bring it back in case I need it again, etc. I found the SHA making the commit of the tmp files and recreated the branch with the provided sha and saw it again with all the files and their current content. Everything I do in the working directory can be reverted once I commit it? Might seem like a silly question to many people, but it kinda intrigues me so I want to know the limits

  • C++: concatenate ints in an array?

    As part of a homework assignment I need to concatenate certain values in an array in C++. So, for example if I have: int v[] = {0,1,2,3,4} I may need at some point to concatenate v[1] - v[4] so that I get an int with the value 1234. I got it working using stringstream, by appending the values onto the stringstream and then converting back to an integer. However, throughout the program there will eventually be about 3 million different permutations of v[] passed to my toInt() function, and the stringstream seems rather expensive (at least when dealing with that many values). it's working, but very slow and I'm trying to do whatever I can to optimize it. Is there a more optimal way to concatenate ints in an array in C++? I've done some searching and nearly everywhere seems to just suggest using stringstream (which works, but seems to be slowing my program down a lot). EDIT: Just clarifying, I do need the result to be an int.

  • Accessing a Clip Inside Another Clip in a Loaded SWF-File

    I'm writing a card game in AS3. The artist I'm working with has produced (in Flash CS4) a single swf-file containing all the card graphics and animations. The structure of the fla working file looks something like this: - Scene - CardGraphics (Movie Clip) - CardFront - CardBack - CardValueImage (Movie Clip) ... In the program I create 52 instances of my Card class, each having a MovieClip instance created from the loaded swf. The idea is to set the frame of the CardValueImage MovieClip to correspond to the Card instance's suit and rank member variables. However, I can't figure out how I access CardValueImage and call gotoAndStop (or whatever method I will need to call).   • Determining Excel spreadsheet format before Data Flow Task

    I'm working on an SSIS package which uses a for each loop to iterate through excel files in a directory and a data flow task to import them. The issue I'm having is that the project manager I'm working with doesn't think the users will always follow the structure. So if a file is in the folder and the package tries to import it but the spreadsheet is missing columns or has extra columns it generates and error of course. Even though I have the task set to not fail the package; the package does indeed fail and then the other files aren't imported. So, I'm wondering what is the easiest way to either determine the spreadsheet is incorrectly formatted, or stop the error from failing the package execution? After taking said step I would just use a file copy task to move the file to a "Failure" folder. Then continue on processing the spreadsheets.

I'm putting a working live site onto my localhost for dev work. so my site can be seen at the url: example.com or at: localhost/example.com OK. I Have a page at example.com/video/pageone.php On that page, I'm linking to a header by navigating to: <?php include '/home/myserver/public_html/includes/website/website-header.php'; ?> For some reason, This will not work (on the live site): <?php include 'http://www.example.com/includes/website/website-header.php'; ?> Can anyone tell me why 1) The above http address will not work, and 2) how can I make this work in localhost?   • Hierarchy inheritance

    I had faced the problem. In my C++ hierarchy tree I have two branches for entities of difference nature, but same behavior - same interface. I created such hierarchy trees (first in image below). And now I want to work with Item or Base classes independetly of their nature (first or second). Then I create one abstract branch for this use. My mind build (second in image below). But it not working. Working scheme seems (third in image below). It's bad logic, I think... Do anybody have some ideas about such hierarchy inheritance? How make it more logical? More simple for understanding? Image Sorry for my english - russian internet didn't help:) Update: You ask me to be more explicit, and I will be. In my project (plugins for Adobe Framemaker) I need to work with dialogs and GUI controls. In some places I working with WinAPI controls, and some other places with FDK (internal Framemaker) controls, but I want to work throw same interface. I can't use one base class and inherite others from it, because all needed controls - is a hierarchy tree (not one class). So I have one hierarchy tree for WinAPI controls, one for FDK and one abstract tree to use anyone control. For example, there is an Edit control (WinEdit and FdkEdit realization), a Button control (WinButton and FdkButton realization) and base entity - Control (WinControl and FdkControl realization). For now I can link my classes in realization trees (Win and Fdk) with inheritence between each of them (WinControl is base class for WinButton and WinEdit; FdkControl is base class for FdkButton and FdkEdit). And I can link to abstract classes (Control is base class for WinControl and FdkControl; Edit is base class for WinEdit and FdkEdit; Button is base class for WinButton and FdkButton). But I can't link my abstract tree - compiler swears. In fact I have two hierarchy trees, that I want to inherite from another one. Update: I have done this quest! :) I used the virtual inheritence and get such scheme (http://img12.imageshack.us/img12/7782/99614779.png). Abstract tree has only absolute abstract methods. All inheritence in abstract tree are virtual. Link from realization tree to abstract are virtual. On image shown only one realization tree for simplicity. Thanks for help!

    G'day guys, Trying currently to finish up a bit of homework I'm working on, and having an issue where I'm trying to apply map across a function that accepts multiple inputs. so in the case I'm using processList f (x:xs) = map accelerateList f xs x xs processList is given a floating value (f) and a List that it sorts into another List Accelerate List takes a floating value (f) a List and a List Object through which it returns another List Object I know my Accelerate List code is correct, but I cannot for the life of me get the syntax for this code working: processList :: Float -> [Object] -> [Object] accelerate f [] = [] accelerate f [x] = [(accelerateForce f x x)] accelerate f (x:xs) = map accelerateList f xs x xs Any ideas? I've been scratching my head for about 3 hours now. I know it's something really simple.

    I have a silverlight application in which I am using the windowless property to show text . Silverlight Plugin Size is 1000*2000, I Have a button (siverlight control) on the Top. I am showing some html text using DIV real time. Its working fine. My Silverlight Plugin & DIV both style property is= "position:absolute'.   • WPF: Binding an integer to a TextBlock with TemplateBinding

    I have a custom control in WPF. In this I have a DependencyProperty of the type integer. In the template for the custom control I have a TextBlock, I and would like to show the value of the integer in the TextBlock. But I can't get it to work. I'm using TemplateBinding. If I use the same code but change the type of the DependencyProperty to string it works fine. But I really want it to be an integer for the rest of my application to work. How can I do this? I've written simplified code that shows the problem.   • Why browser doesnt recognize jquery when <script src="...jquery.js> is on a html page served by Goo

    jquery.js source code is not being recognised by browser using my page.html served by Google App Engine as a http:some_request to the SDK, BUT when I load the exact same page.html into the browser directly from my local hard drive as jquery.js all works OK, it is recognized, so I know my path is OK.... I don't understand? In the header of my page.html I have the following: <script src="http://ajax.googleapis.com/ajax/libs/jquery/1.3/jquery.min.js" type="text/javascript"></script> I also tried without success in the header this: <script src="/static/jquery.js" type="text/javascript"></script> I am working along with the examples in the [Jquery tutorial][1]. I am sure there is something simple I dont understand about how .html pages served to the browser from app engine interact differently with the browser than what I normally would expect....but I frustratingly just cant get it.....everything else I have with my app engine app is working fine......would love some help so i can move forward....

    I have a local git repository a "central" repo at github. I'm working on a part of a project, while a friend is working on a related piece that is its entirely seperate repo, is it possible for me to simply link directly to my friends repo? For example, the app is called widgets. I have all my code in widgets/app/mycode and my friend is writing code that goes into widgets/plugins/awesome/hiscode. I want to be able to always have http://github.com/mycode/widgets/plugins/hiscode to be a direct link or clone to http://github.com/hiscode/awesome ? It could be possible i'm missing something basic in my question or knowledge of git, if so please ask, and i'll be happy to try to fill in the blanks. I am deploying to my production site via capistrano, so maybe a script of some kind may be easier?? I don't know (that's why i'm posting)!!

  • Forcing user to new page in php. (PHP newbie)

    Hello I'm a newbie web programmer. My background is writing Windows applications with sql. I'm putting together my 1st data entry screens in Php. I have a search form that links to a form that displays records in a grid. On each row of the grid I have a delete url to allow the user to remove a record. This links to a form delete.php (which calls the sql to remove the record). Ideally I would like to automatically take the user back to the search form rather than forcing the user to click on a link to do so. I have used ob_start with the header to do this elsewhere but cannot get it to work on this page. Is there another way to do it?   • Using PUT/POST/DELETE with JSONP and jQuery

    I am working on creating a RESTful API that supports cross-domain requests, JSON/JSONP support, and the main HTTP method (PUT/GET/POST/DELETE). Now while will be easy to accessing this API through server side code , it would nice to exposed it to javascript. From what I can tell, when doing a JSONP requests with jQuery, it only supports the GET method. Is there a way to do a JSONP request using POST/PUT/DELETE? Ideally I would like a way to do this from within jQuery (through a plugin if the core does not support this), but I will take a plain javascript solution too. Any links to working code or how to code it would be helpful, thanks.

  • Foreach File in a Folder in Flash?

    Hey, I have an image slideshow program working right now and it takes in a folder of a hard coded in number of images. I would like to change this so that it can take in a folder and will display all of them no matter the number. Is there a way to do this in flash? I'm thinking something like the foreach loop in perl or other scripting language. It is possible to store then number of images in a text file but I also don't know how to read that in flash either. I'm working in actionscript 3. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks -Mike
