• C# ...extract email address from inside 100's of text files

  My SMTP server got 100's of errors when sending lots of emails. Now have lots of .BAD files each one containing an error message and somewhere in the middle, the actual email address it was supposed to be sent to. What is the easiest way to extract from each file "just" the "email address", so that I can have a list of the actual failed emails? I can code in C# and any suggestion will be truly welcomed.   I have Canine and CanineHandler objects in my application. The CanineHandler object has a PersonID (which references a completely different database), an EffectiveDate (which specifies when a handler started with the canine), and a FK reference to the Canine (CanineID). Given a specific PersonID, I want to find all canines they're currently responsible for. Until I can make this work, adding the subquery isn't going to work... I've found similar questions, such as http://stackoverflow.com/questions/747382/only-get-latest-results-using-nhibernate but none of the answers really seem to apply with the kind of direct result I'm looking for. Any help or suggestion is greatly appreciated.

• MySQL searching using many 'like' operators: is there a better way?

  I have a page that gets all rows from a table in a database, then displays the rows in an HTML table. That works great, but now I want to implement a 'search' feature. There is a searchbox, and search-terms are separated by a space. I am going to make it search three fields for the search terms, 'make' 'model' and 'type.' These three fields are VARCHAR(30). Currently if I wanted to search using 3 terms (say 'cool' 'abc' and '123') my query would look something like this. SELECT * FROM table WHERE make LIKE '%cool%' OR make LIKE '%abc%' OR make LIKE '%123%' OR model LIKE '%cool%' OR model LIKE '%abc%' OR model LIKE '%123%' OR type LIKE '%cool%' OR type LIKE '%abc%' OR type LIKE '%123%' That looks really bad, and it will get even worse if there are more search terms or more fields to search. My question to you: is there a better way to search? If so, what?

  I’m having trouble getting a AJAX/JSON function to work correctly. I had this function grabbing value from a drop down box but now I want to use an anchor tag to set it's value. I thought it would be easy to just use the onClick event to pass string to the function I was using for the drop down box but it doesn’t do anything. I’m stumped! • Java: file write on finalize method

  In my understanding a singleton object will destroy only when the application is about to terminate. So in C++ I write a Singleton class to log my application and in that Singleton logger's destructor I log the time when my application was terminated. Things worked perfectly in C++. Now I want to have that same logger in Java, as in java there is no destructor so I implemented the finalize method for that singleton logger. But it seem that finalize method actually never get called. So, I add that System.runFinalizersOnExit(true); line, somewhere in my code (though I know it is deprecated) and that finalize method get called every time before termination of the app. But still there is a problem! If I try to write anything on file in that finalize method, It does not work, though System.out work without any problem! :( Can you guys help me on this problem? • Poor performance / speed of regex with lookahead

  I have been observing extremely slow execution times with expressions with several lookaheads. I suppose that this is due to underlying data structures, but it seems pretty extreme and I wonder if I do something wrong or if there are known work-arounds. The problem is determining if a set of words are present in a string, in any order. For example we want to find out if two terms "term1" AND "term2" are somewhere in a string. I do this with the expresion: (?=.*\bterm1\b)(?=.*\bterm2\b) But what I observe is that this is an order of magnitude slower than checking first just \bterm1\b and just then \bterm2\b This seems to indicate that I should use an array of patterns instead of a single pattern with lookaheads... is this right? it seems wrong... • Just an experiment changing the application data path

  When I change the Appication Data path in windows xp registry to a network folder I get this error message on the next system startup: "windows cannot load the user's profile but has logged you with the default profile system" The registry keys are: "[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\Shell Folders]" "[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\User Shell Folders]" under the names "AppData" and "Local AppData" I dont care if "Windows logins you with the default profile system" but is there a way to disable that message, or change the message timeout form 30 seconds to 0?,or maybe create an script that changes the Application Data path every system startup? P.S. The computer with the shared folder is always on.

  I have a unix command line app (with big nasty makefile) that I'm trying to run on a mac. I am compiling it on a 10.6 system, with all of the appropriate libraries of course. The deployment environment is a 10.5 system, with no extra libraries. I compiled without -dynamic, and it appears to have static libraries, correctly. When I run it on the 10.6 system, it works. However, when I run it on the 10.5 system, I get: dyld: unknown required load command 0x80000022 I got this same error when I compiled things for the 10.6 system using the 10.5 xcode, so it looks like a version mis-match type problem. However, I used gcc-4.0, and $CFLAGS = -isysroot /Developer/SDKs/MacOSX10.5.sdk -mmacosx-version-min=10.5 so it SHOULD be set up for 10.5... any ideas? thanks Editing an ancient question: I have the exact same problem on a different computer. This time I am at 10.5.8, fully update, the same executable works on 10.6 still. Has anyone had any luck with this in the months since I asked this?

• How can I determine/use $(this) in js callback script

  I am using Rails and jQuery, making an ajax call initiated by clicking a link. I setup my application.js file to look like the one proposed here and it works great. The problem I'm having is how can I use $(this) in my say.. update.js.erb file to represent the link I clicked? I don't want to have to assign an ID to every one, then recompile that id in the callback script..
