  My SMTP server got 100's of errors when sending lots of emails. Now have lots of .BAD files each one containing an error message and somewhere in the middle, the actual email address it was supposed to be sent to. What is the easiest way to extract from each file "just" the "email address", so that I can have a list of the actual failed emails? I can code in C# and any suggestion will be truly welcomed. • iphone nsarray problem?

  Okay maybe i just need another set of eyes on this, but I have the following lines of code in one of my view controllers. It takes some data from a file, and populates it into an array using "\n" as a separator. I then use that array to make an NSDictionary, which is used to populate a tableview. It's very simple. However it isnt working.   Hello I have a question for a c programmer out there, we have a tast at school to create a soft real time system in an operation system made by our teacher. Well that is all fine and dandy, we have chosen to create a system that calcuate how many unites of medicine a diabetic need based on his or hers blood sugar. It does not need to be correct just that we have the idea of a real time system :D But we have hit a little snag our formula for calculating the units of medicine is [blood sugar] * 1.2 But the only way we can send messages between processes is via a structure that contains 8 longs, but here is where my knowledge of c ends, we need for some way to split this double into 2 longs, example: the whole number in long 0 and the decimals in long 1 and then assemble it on the other side. But I have no idea who to do this, and therefore need a little help. We have tried but we do not have access to c standard libraries

  I've install mono-runtime via apt in order to run my Mono console application on Ubuntu via SSH. However, when I run the command mono myapp.exe, It exits, with no message, and my program does nothing. If I throw the -v switch to Mono, such as mono -v myapp.exe, I get about 10k lines of output (as expected, -v is verbose), with the first few lines being: converting method System.OutOfMemoryException:.ctor (string) Method System.OutOfMemoryException:.ctor (string) emitted at 0xb7052c28 to 0xb7052c4b (code length 35) [myapp.exe] converting method (wrapper runtime-invoke) <Module>:runtime_invoke_void__this___object (object,intptr,intptr,intptr) Method (wrapper runtime-invoke) <Module>:runtime_invoke_void__this___object (object,intptr,intptr,intptr) emitted at 0xb7052c68 to 0xb7052cf6 (code length 142) [myapp.exe] converting method System.SystemException:.ctor (string) I read this as the runtime throwing an OutOfMemory exception, but the machine is under no intense load, has plenty of available RAM, and is running nothing other that system processes. I've removed and reinstalled Mono countless times, and have even run the executable on other machines perfectly fine. Am I missing something completely obvious here?

• MSSQL: Primary Key Schema Largely Guid but Sometimes Integer Types...

  OK, this may be a silly question but... I have inherited a project and am tasked with going over the primary key relationships. The project largely uses Guids. I say "largely" because there are examples where tables use integral types to reflect enumerations. For example, dbo.MessageFolder has MessageFolderId of type int to reflect public emum MessageFolderTypes { inbox = 1, sent = 2, trash = 3, etc... } This happens a lot. There are tables with primary keys of type int which is unavoidable because of their reliance on enumerations and tables with primary keys of type Guid which reflect the primary key choice on the part of the previous programmer. Should I care that the PK schema is spotty like this? It doesn't feel right but does it really matter? If this could create a problem, how do I get around it (I really can't move all PKs to type int without serious legwork and I have never heard of enumerations that have guid values)? Thanks.

I think the issue may be caused because I am requesting this information in Page_PreInit. I found a solution in a stack overflow article but I don't seem be using it properly to actually make this go. I am not sure what I am missing. Thanks in advance.

  There are developers who understand a technology and produce a solution months or years ahead of its time. I worked with a guy who designed an system using C# beta which would monitor different system components on several servers. He used SQL Server that would pick up these system monitoring components (via reflection) and would instantiate them via an NT Service. The simplicity in this design, was that another developer (me), who understood part of a system, would produce a component that could monitor it, as he had the specialized knowledge of that part of the system. I would derive from the monitor base class (to start, stop and log info), install on the monitoring server GAC and then add an entry to the components table in sql server. Then the main engine would pick up this component and do its magic. I understood parts of it, but couldn't work out by derive from a base class, why add to the GAC etc. This was 6 years ago and it took me months to realize what he achieved. What programming technique not done by you was ahead of its time? EDIT : Techniques that you have seen at work or journals/blogs - I don't mean historically over years.

• jQuery Form plugin - no data from file upload?

  I've been struggling a bit with the jQuery Form plugin. I want to create a file upload form that posts the data (JSON, from the chosen file) into a REST service exposed by a servlet. The URL for the POST is calculated from what the user chooses in a SELECT dropdown. When the upload is complete, I want to notify the user immediately, AJAX-style. The problem is that the POST header has a Content-Length of 0 and contains no data. • Sending url params and POST body to a MVC 2 Controller

  Hi, I'm having some issues trying to make a HTTP PUT (or POST) using WebClient against a MVC 2 controller. The exception is: The parameters dictionary contains a null entry for parameter 'total' of non-nullable type 'System.Int32' for method 'System.Web.Mvc.ActionResult Company(System.Guid, Int32, Int32, System.String)' The controller action is: [HttpPut] public ActionResult Company(Guid uid, int id, int total, string url) The route is: routes.MapRoute( "CompanySet", "job/active/{uid}/company/{id}", new { controller = "Job", action = "Company" } ); As you may see, what I want is to send the 'uid' and 'id' parameters via url, but the 'total' and 'url' parameters as part of the PUT or POST body. I've also tried to merge the latter parameters into a class (i.e., CompanySetMessage), doing it no longer raises an exception but I dont receive the values on the server side. Any ideas? Thank you!

  I’m having trouble getting a AJAX/JSON function to work correctly. I had this function grabbing value from a drop down box but now I want to use an anchor tag to set it's value. I thought it would be easy to just use the onClick event to pass string to the function I was using for the drop down box but it doesn’t do anything. I’m stumped! But I cannot find it in the InnerException.. nowhere.   Alright, first you'll need to grab a barf bag. I've been tasked with optimizing several old stored procedures in our database. This SP does the following: 1) cursor loops through a series of "buildings" 2) cursor loops through a week, Sunday-Saturday 3) has a huge set of IF blocks that are responsible for counting how many Objects of what Types are present in a given building Essentially what you'll see in this code block is that, if there are 5 objects of type #2, it will increment @Type_2_Objects_5 by 1. In a traditional language, this could easily be solved with a 2-dimensional array... objects[type][quantity] += 1; I'm a T-SQL novice, but since writing stored procedures often uses a lot of temporary tables (which could essentially be a 2-dimensional array) I was wondering if someone could illuminate a better way of handling a situation like this with two dynamic pieces of data to store. Requested in comments: The columns are simply Number_Type_1_Objects, Number_Type_2_Objects, Number_Type_3_Objects, Number_Type_4_Objects, Number_Type_5_Objects, and CurrentDateTime. Each row in the table represents 5 minutes. The expected output is to figure out what percentage of time a given quantity of objects is present throughout each day. Sunday - Object Type 1 0 objects - 69 rows, 5:45, 34.85% 1 object - 85 rows, 7:05, 42.93% 2 objects - 44 rows, 3:40, 22.22% On Sunday, there were 0 objects of type 1 for 34.85% of the day. There was 1 object for 42.93% of the day, and 2 objects for 22.22% of the day. Repeat for each object type.
