    Hi, i'm not sure if it's possible. I have a class car and a class mycar extended from class car. Class mycar has also a string list. Only difference. How can i cast now any car object to a mycar object without assigning all attributes each by hand. Like: Car car = new Car(); MyCar mcar = (MyCar) car; or MyCar mcar = new MyCar(car); or however i can extend car with own variables and don't have to do always Car car = new Car(); MyCar mcar = new MyCar(); mcar.name = car.name; mcar.xyz = car.xyz; ...     I have created an ExtendedId class which extends GenericIdentity. (This stores Id as well as name) In a httpmodule I stored this extended id in Current.User like so: HttpContext.Current.User = new GenericPrincipal(myExtendedId, roles); Problem is, later, how do I get at my ExtendedId type again? If I try this: ExtendedId eId = (ExtendedId)HttpContext.Current.User.Identity; I get a casting error. I have a feeling I'm doing something stupid here with casting, but I'm a bit foggy this morning.

    The description for "Use mandatory profiles on the RD Session Host server" is a little ambiguous: This policy setting allows you to specify whether Remote Desktop Services uses a mandatory profile for all users connecting remotely to the RD Session Host server. If you enable this policy setting, Remote Desktop Services uses the path specified in the Set path for Remote Desktop Services Roaming User Profile policy setting as the root folder for the mandatory user profile. All users connecting remotely to the RD Session Host server use the same user profile. If you disable or do not configure this policy setting, mandatory user profiles are not used by users connecting remotely to the RD Session Host server. I have a situation where only some users need to use mandatory profiles for logging in to a Remote Desktop Session Host. If I have some users with ntuser.dat and some users ntuser.man in their roaming profile what will RD Session Host do To a user who has ntuser.man in their roaming profile and has the setting set to Disabled? To a user who has ntuser.dat in their roaming profile and has the setting set to Enabled?

  • Configure custom SSL certificate for RDP on Windows Server 2012 in Remote Administration mode?

    So the release of Windows Server 2012 has removed a lot of the old Remote Desktop related configuration utilities. In particular, there is no more Remote Desktop Session Host Configuration utility that gave you access to the RDP-Tcp properties dialog that let you configure a custom certificate for the RDSH to use. In its place is a nice new consolidated GUI that is part of the overall "edit deployment properties" workflow in the new Server Manager. The catch is that you only get access to that workflow if you have the Remote Desktop Services role installed (as far as I can tell). This seems like a bit of an oversight on Microsoft's part. How can we configure a custom SSL certificate for RDP on Windows Server 2012 when it's running in the default Remote Administration mode without needlessly installing the Remote Desktop Services role?

    Hi, I am trying to control a desktop (HTPC) using my laptop. I currently use Teamviewer, but it is pretty slow. I used to use window remote desktop connection and it was pretty fast. The problem with window remote desktop connection is that it does not support realtime. By "Realtime", I mean it does not display what I am doing on the computer being controlled. Any suggestions?

    Hello I have an extended stored procedure that sends an error message. srv_sendmsg(pSrvProc, SRV_MSG_ERROR, errorNum, SRV_FATAL_SERVER, 1, NULL, 0, (DBUSMALLINT) __LINE__, buff, SRV_NULLTERM); I've set the severity to SVR_FATAL_SERVER just as a test to see if I can cause the message to throw an exception in the sql. In my SQL i'm doing: BEGIN TRY EXEC dbo.xp_somethingCool SET @Error = @@ERROR END TRY BEGIN CATCH PRINT 'AN Error occoured!' SELECT ERROR_NUMBER() AS ErrorNumber ,ERROR_MESSAGE() AS ErrorMessage; END CATCH I would think that when my xp sends the error message the tsql would catch the error and select the error_number and error_message. Instead what ends up happening is that the xp sends the message and the T-SQL continues on its way like nothing happened. The @@Error variable doesn't get set either. So I was wondering if there was any trick to getting SQL to catch an error from an XP ? Thanks, Raul

  • Strange Internet Connection issues

    I'm attempting to troubleshoot problems with a laptop computer(HP 8510w) while it's connected to a server of mine via Remote Desktop. I double checked all the settings on the win2k3 server for remote desktop to verify that remote desktop isn't what's causing the disconnect issues, and other people using different computers/laptops can all connect to remote desktop correctly with no issues. These problems happen specifically when the laptop is connected via wifi(several different wifi sources, so it's not an ISP issue) as well as connected via a Verizon data card. However there's no network downtime when the laptop is resting in the docking station and plugged into the network with the remote desktop server. These problems have also only recently occurred since a recent hard drive failure in which a new hard drive was purchased and the laptop had a fresh install of windows xp professional. There's no special software used on this machine, just office 2003. So my question is, what could cause two types of internet access to fail while other types do not? If it is infact related to the win2k3 server, why is this particular laptop getting disconnected when others are not and are all on at the same time?

I want to place some images in my website which when clicked opens as lightbox and can go next and previous but the trick is the next images have to be sub pics of the pic which is displayed. So lets say I have "a" "b" "c" ....images shown on my website but when some clicks "a" the image "a" opens but then when he clicks next image {{ with the help of the lightbox script }} he goes to "a.1" "a.2" ....and so on for image "b" ...... Can anyone help me finding this script I have seen i somewhere bu not sure of the search term. Many Thanks

    Hi All, I have a problem with my entity manager in my application. I have two DAO clasess like this: @Repository public abstract class DaoA { protected ClassA persistentClass; @PersistenceContext(name="my.persistence", type=PersistenceContextType.EXTENDED) protected EntityManager entityManager; -------------- some typical action for DAO -------------- } Second DAO is for ClassB and looks similar to DaoA. The rest of things are done for me by the Spring framework. When I'm debugging the application I recognize that both DAO objects have different instances of EntityManager. In the result my two different DAOs are connected with different PersistenceContext. Question is if this is correct behaviour or not? I would like to have the same PersistenceContext for all my DAO classes. Please give me a hint if this is possible and if I understood the JPA correctly? Regards Hsd

Someone told me that i need to get publish_stream extended permission from the user, but i dont know how to do that.

    I want to make WPF window extended on the title area (like Office 2007/2010). I implemented DwmWindow (see DwmTest.zip) where I put required stuff. Commonly, it works fine except one disgusting thing: the window appears as white rectangle (see DwmIssue.png) and after a few second this rectangle disappears and the content of the window is shown (see DwmIssueCorrect.png). This bug is essential only for my window. The following code works in Firefox and Safari... var mousedownTimeout; $('#testButton').mousedown(function(){ mousedownTimeout = window.setTimeout(function(){ alert("Hey, let go."); }, 2000); }); $('#testButton').mouseup(function(){ window.clearTimeout(mousedownTimeout); }); ... but not on the iPhone because (quoting quirksmore.org)... The iPhone fires the mousedown, mouseup and click events in the correct order on a click (tap), but it either fires all three or none at all. Is there a way around this?

    I have a request from our legal team to search a users' mailbox. the mailbox is 15gig and it is on exchange 2003. I am trying to run windows desktop search and google desktop. I have gotten them to index mailbox but getting the results into a folder to backup on cd is getting bit difficult. Windows desktop search and google desktop search does not allow you to copy results to another folder. Can anyone point me to right direction? What is the best way to index and copy the results of pst, mailbox or edb file? What is the best discovery methods? Thanks

    Hi i'm doing a fb app that update the status box(what's in your mind), i'm using set_status from facebooker .. first i have this error: set_status needs extended permission so i google it and find this: before_filter :ensure_has_status_update .. so i put it in my controller and that solves the problem, but when i try to update the status, all ways redirect me to a fb page that says: You have already granted permissions to this application. so i go to the controller comment before_filter :ensure_has_status_update and then go to my app again and it works.. so i want to do this if (has_status_update == false) ask for permision else update the status i google it for a long time but i can't find an answer..

  • Streaming desktop with avconv - severe sound issues

    I'm trying to do some live streaming in Ubuntu 12.10, but I'm having some problems with audio. More specifically, the quality is complete garbage and it's at least 10 seconds out of sync with the video. I'm using an excellent guide found here to set up my loopback devices so that I can combine the desktop audio with the microphone input. It seems to work, as I'm able to stream both audio and video to Twitch.tv. But, as I said, the audio quality is terrible. The microphone audio is very, very low, but if I increase it, I get a horrible garbled sound that is absolutely unbearable. Nothing like that is present during VoIP calls or when recording sound alone with the sound recorder, so it's not an issue with the microphone itself. The entire audio stream is also delayed about 10-15 seconds compared to the video stream. I put together an imgur album of my settings.   • CSS hover behavior inconsistent on desktop/mobile devices [migrated]

    I have a strange problem: This page looks good on desktop browsers, but the hovering effect does not seem to work correctly on at least my CM7 Android 2.3.7 device. I know hovering is not supposed to work on touch displays as it does with a mouse, but I'd like to have touch feedback, i.e. the highlight color should show once the user has tapped a menu item. This does work when the link is just a href="#" but it does not when it is a real link. I tried all sorts of stuff as you can see, to no avail. If you go back in the browser history after having tapped a real link, the item is highlighted, so the browser understands the CSS I am throwing at it. However, the javascript alert makes it clear that it only seems to interpret the link opening action and does not care about the color changing stuff. Weird that is.   • Increase the size of Taskbar Preview Thumbnails in Windows 7

    Taskbar thumbnail previews are incredibly useful in Windows 7, but for some users they may be too small.  Here’s a tool to help you make your taskbar thumbnail previews just like you want them. A few years ago we featured a tool to increase the size of your thumbnail previews in Windows Vista, but unfortunately this application doesn’t work correctly in Windows 7.  However, there is a new tool for Windows 7 that lets you customize your taskbar thumbnail previews even more in Windows 7.  With it, you can change almost anything about your taskbar thumbnail previews.  The default taskbar thumbnails are nice, but may be too small for users with vision problems or with very high resolution monitors.  Whatever your need, this is a great tool to make the thumbnails looks and work just like you want. Let’s get started Download the Windows 7 Taskbar Thumbnail Customizer (link below), and unzip the files.  Run the Windows 7 Taskbar Thumbnail Customizer when you’re done.  Simply double-click on it; you don’t need to run it as administrator. Now, you change the size, spacing, margin, and delay time of your taskbar thumbnails.  The Delay Time setting is very handy; to speed things up, we set it to 0 so there’s no delay between when you mouse-over a taskbar icon to when you see the thumbnail.  Simply drag the slider to the size (or time in the delay settings) you want, and click Apply settings.  Windows Explorer will automatically restart, and your new taskbar thumbnails will be ready to use. Here is the default Windows 7 thumbnail preview of a video playing in Media player: And here’s the taskbar thumbnail enlarged to 380px.  Now you can really watch a video from your taskbar thumbnail. The larger taskbar thumbnails show up a little different in Internet Explorer.  It shows a larger preview of your active tab, and smaller previews of your other tabs.  Notice also that Aero peek shows the tab you’re hovering over in Internet Explorer, but the tab name in IE’s toolbar doesn’t change to the one you’re previewing.   Here we increased the width between the thumbnails, while keeping the thumbnails at their default size.  This could be useful if you have trouble selecting the correct preview, and we can imagine it would be a very useful modification on touch screens. Now create another key under this newly created key with name command. and in right-side pane set its value to the exact path of application, like: C:\Program Files\Windows Media Player\wmplayer.exe C:\Program Files\Winamp\winamp.exe etc...   • Options for synchronizing Palm Desktop calendars

    My wife and I each have Palm Centro phones and very full calendars. We've been using Palm products for years and are happy with them and are not looking to switch (and don't have the budget for it even if we wanted to). What is a viable way we can synchronize our calendars? Back when we had Palm Z22s we used AirSet. It worked great in synchronizing our desktop calendars. Unfortunately, their sync software does not support Palm Desktop v6 and there is nothing in the pipeline to support it. (The third party vendor is apparently not interested in updating for the newer Palm desktop.) I would love to be able to get back to having each other's appointments appear on the other's calendar. What can we do? Some limitations: A data plan is not an option (so this precludes over-the-air synchronization options) No Microsoft Outlook Edit: Syncing my Palm to my Palm Desktop is not the issue. Being able to sync, in some way, the Palm calendar databases of my wife's and my calendars is what's desired.
