  • how to install numpy and scipy on OS X?

    Hey guys I'm new to Mac so please bear with me. I'm using snow leopard 10.6.4 at the moment. I want to install numpy and scipy, so I downloaded the python2.6,numpy and scipy dmg files from their official site. However, I'm having problem import numpy: Library/Frameworks/Python.framework/Versions/2.6/lib/python2.6/site-packages/numpy/core/multiarray.so: no matching architecture in universal wrapper Can anyone shed some light to this problem?

  • In MVC framworks (such as Ruby on Rails), do usually Model spell as singular and controller and view

    I usually see Ruby on Rails books using script/generate model Story name:string link:string which is a singular Story, while when it is controller script/generate controller Stories index then the Story now is Stories, which is plural. Is this a standard on Ruby on Rails? Is it true in other MVC frameworks too, like CakePHP, Symfony, Django, or TurboGears? I see that in the book Rails Space, the controller is also called User, which is the same as the model name, and it is the only exception I see.

  • IPhone library project + UIViews

    I'm trying to refactor some of my iphone code into a library project that can be linked to by several different applications. I made a new iphone library project and copied over some of my classes there, but the project can't build because it doesn't know about stuff like UIView or CGRect. I added in the UIKit, CoreGraphics, and QuartzCore frameworks, but still no go. What am I missing?

    I'm going to be switching back and forth between Ruby on Rails projects and some as-of-yet undecided PHP MVC framework projects. Which of the PHP MVC frameworks out there (CakePHP, CodeIgniter?, others?) is most similar to Ruby on Rails in that the most conventions, locations, workflows, etc are preserved? I'm looking for the similarity in the way things are done such as directory structures, conventions, etc, not a pros vs cons in speed, extra features, etc.

Most frameworks put includes at the beginning and do not care if the file is really needed. Using autoloader is the other case here.

  • JPA and compatibility with persistance providers and databases vendors

    JPA promises to be vendor neutral for persistence and database. But I already know than some persistence frameworks like hibernate are not perfect (character encoding, null comparison) and you need to adapt your schema for each database. Because there is two layers (the persistence framework and database), I would imagine they're some work to use some JPA codes... Does anyone has some experiences with multiple support and if yes, what are the tricks and recommendations to avoid such incompatibilities ?

  • Using pydev with Eclipse on OSX

    I setup PyDev with this path for the python interpreter /System/Library/Frameworks/Python.framework/Versions/2.5/Python since the one under /usr/bin were alias and Eclipse won't select it. I can run my python script now but cannot run the shell as an external tool. The message I get is variable references empty selection ${resource_loc} Same if I use {container_loc} Any thoughts ?   • Trying to set up iPhone-gcc compiler

    So I've installed iPhone-gcc, make and ldid from cydia, i can't compile yet though because I don't have the headers setup. I've looked around and there's not really much info on setting up the headers, librarys and frameworks. I just need to know where to extract them from the sdk and where to place them on my iPhone.     I have a dev project setup in a subfolder on my testing machine and it must stay there. However all the Zend frameworks views are linked to server root. CSS are linked like: <link type="text/css" href="<?php echo $this->baseUrl('/css/frontend.css') ?>" rel="Stylesheet" /> Which must be stayed this way, but it should link to localhost/a/b/c/prj1/css/frontend.css How can I setup a global subdirectory for this?

Gamekit seems to drop out, since those old ipod-touch-devices don't have bluetooth-support.
